"I've struggled with depression for 30 years. Over the years, many medications have helped, but many have not. Last May, I had been doing well for many years when a health condition derailed me. Changed some meds, did not work. There are so many things to implement to help one's depression, and medication is one of those. I have been on Auvelity for 3 1/2 weeks, started on a half dose, or one pill a day for three weeks, and increased to the normal dose yesterday. When depression 'lifts,' I can usually feel it lift. This medication has really helped me, I am encouraged. Don't be afraid to try this medication because it's something new, give it time. The one-week quick fix didn't really work for me, it's taken a good 14 days or so, but better than 8 weeks only to feel zero improvements. The health savings card really helps, it pays $4,000 per calendar year. The side effects have been diarrhea, but it's better, I don't feel jazzed up. I can focus better, humor is better."

"My adult son had tried numerous prescriptions for help with depression, anxiety, and OCD. Auvelity has quieted his OCD (it's still there, but it's not as strong) and has immensely helped his depression. He has started appreciating music and art again, noticing things of beauty. He is hopeful for his future. He usually only takes one tablet per day in the morning."

"This drug was a lifesaver, literally if you know what I mean. Six months on Prozac (20 mg) after depression's sudden onset was a disaster with trembling, brain fog, chest-pounding anxiety, an eye floater, and gastrointestinal issues. Auvelity started to improve my mood within three days and got better once Prozac was out of the system over about a month. The early side effects were some weird tired feeling in my legs that went away after a few weeks. There is some mild shakiness a few times a day. Today, I tentatively feel like a normal person again and almost like who I was before the depression's onset after about 10 weeks of 1 tablet per day. Going to 2 gave me some anxiety, it seems 1 tablet is good enough for me. There is some fatigue associated with the drug, but it is mild and not every day. I was lucky to get prescribed Auvelity."

"I suffer from medicine-resistant depression and PTSD and have been taking Auvelity in addition to other antidepressants for about 3-4 months. I initially felt better for the first month, but then I regressed again. It was frustrating as I had just refilled Auvelity with a $100.00 copay. I believe that this medication could work for people without resistance, it just didn't work for me."

"I've struggled with depression since I was 19—I'm now 32. After contracting COVID in late 2021, my depression became seemingly untreatable. I tried several different medications, but they were either ineffective or made things worse. I was on the verge of starting ketamine treatment when my doctor mentioned Auvelity as a possible alternative. Since I had previously been on Wellbutrin, we weren’t sure if insurance would cover it—but thankfully, it does, and I’m only paying $10 a month. I’ve been on Auvelity for just one month, and oh my goodness—it’s been a lifesaver. At first, I felt foggy, had memory issues, and experienced a strange dryness I can’t quite explain. But after about three weeks, the benefits kicked in. I finally feel like myself again—like I did before COVID. Hope is not lost after all!"

"I’ve recently added Auvelity to my repertoire of meds. Sertraline has been very effective for my anxiety, but I’ve still been struggling with depression. I’m about three weeks in, and I can definitely say I’ve noticed some improvements in my depression. I’d say it took close to three weeks before I noticed a response and not the one week it says. Side effects have been minimal, and I don’t notice any currently. So far, I’m happy, and I feel my depression lifting. Hoping this continues to work. Was on Wellbutrin for over a year and had no results with that. And tried a series of antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and antipsychotics."

"This medication has changed my life. I was scared to try it after so many bad experiences, but it began working in only 30 minutes on Day 1. My anxiety lifted. Dark thoughts were simply not there. After a month, I began taking two per day, and that is the magic number. Now I laugh at my husband’s bad jokes, am eager to start my days, and (most importantly of all) can paint again. The only negative side effect has been a worsening of the ability to read fine print. But I’ll take that over depression any day. Oh—add the cost. I’m not eligible for Auvelity’s discounts because I’m on Medicare. I had to find a plan that had a low out-of-pocket cost for the year ($2,000)."

"I have had some success with Wellbutrin (Bupropion), but after a number of years, I seemed to have developed a tolerance. An increase in dosage caused me to have anxiety. I was hopeful Auvelity would help as it has similar properties. Sadly, the smallest dose created overwhelming anxiety that felt like I had taken a high dose of Wellbutrin. Although one should not expect half a sustained release, I was hoping it would reduce the anxiety. Auvelity, I felt, gave me more energy and even curbed hunger, which was a positive. Though, sadly, I still had severe anxiety, was jittery, and my heart was pounding. I couldn’t continue and went back to regular bupropion while searching for something else."

"I've tried so many different antidepressants. This one has made my mood lighter. I feel not so sad. Less crying spells. More motivation to feel like going out and doing something. Not so much hopelessness. More humor. More feeling like being social. (Forgot to say I'm on my second month of this med.) The downside is minimal. When I do yard work or housework - I sweat way more than I used to. Sometimes a little clumsy. Slightly confused at times. A little more forgetful. A little more hungry, but no major weight gain. For me, this med has been a lifesaver. I have enjoyment where before I had very little. I've had some sexual side effects which I don't like. All in all - much improved. Much better. Hope this helps!"

"I developed situational depression after we tragically lost our only daughter. Almost 4 years later, on Viibryd and Buspirone with minimal results, my psychiatrist put me on Auvelity. I am having the Viibryd titrated off. I am on day 3 and already feel better. How can this be? While we will always miss our daughter, it is sadness, not depression nor anxiety. I am feeling more like myself... my husband has commented thusly also. I hope this continues! I was apprehensive to start a new drug, but no side effects for me. Bless the makers of this med! I take 2 pills a day, spaced at least 8 hours apart."

"Really the first anti I've been on that made me feel like it was working. The first three weeks I had a cough med high that was pleasant. I've been on Auvelity for 6 months and had some strange side effects. I will gladly take losing my sex drive over losing myself in a dark pit. I can't say I'm doing a lot better, but I'm actually working with it for a change. I've been on them all, placebo effects almost always, but this hasn't diminished. Every antidepressant or antipsychotic did the same thing… start off great, then a few months later I was more aware of my depression and completely lethargic. I know this isn't listed on what Auvelity treats, but I suffered headaches almost daily and migraines 6-10 per month, but they have much improved. The daily headaches 90% improved. Migraines 75% maybe more. That alone is happiness."

"Complete life-changer. After 40 years of trying multiple treatments, including ECT, this med works wonderfully. By virtually eliminating my depression (rumination, negative self-talk, hopelessness), the anxiety also disappeared. After decades of ingesting all sorts of chemical cocktails to treat depression, I now take only Auvelity, amlodipine, and vitamin D3, and honestly, have never felt better. Only ECT has worked this well for me. My Sjogren's symptoms are not as aggravating, and life itself is much brighter. I felt Auvelity working within a week and have been taking it twice a day for 4 months now. The only “side effect” has been that I need to take the second dose at least 8 hours before bed or I can get jittery when unwinding for the night."

"I had just started taking this medication as I am diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, bipolar 2, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I was previously prescribed fluoxetine (Prozac) for depression. After about 2 months of being on it, I started to wonder if it was even doing anything. I brought it up with my HCP, and she recommended that I should try Auvelity. I had no issue with trying a new medication, especially because after reading the reviews, people said that they almost saw a positive instantaneous reaction. The first day I had taken it, I felt normal until around mid-day, and that is when I had one of the most intense and genuinely terrifying panic attacks I've ever experienced. I could not breathe or even speak, and it felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. Luckily, this only lasted for about 30 minutes until I had calmed down. The second day was even worse. I was enduring intense and extreme, almost debilitating paranoia."

"It helped me feel immensely better from chronic, treatment-resistant major depressive disorder. It helped me feel more normal than anything else I had tried in the last 20 years. I could not take it twice a day, or I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. So I only took it once in the morning, and it still seemed to make quite a difference. It causes mild diarrhea daily, but not enough that it’s terrible."

"Game changer! This medicine is amazing, within a week, I feel happy and optimistic. The thoughts that haunted me, that I obsessed over, that made living hard are blocked, it is unbelievable. Yes, I know I had bad thoughts, but it is like my brain will not go to the 'flight or fight' path of thinking. Just wow."

"I have tried almost every antidepressant there is to no avail. I was scouring the internet because I knew there had to be something different. At my next psychiatry appointment, I asked about Auvelity because I had read how well it worked and my doc was fully on board. When I first began taking it, it honestly made me feel weird, but I didn’t want to stop. So I asked my doctor about taking it at night, and she said yes, that’s perfectly fine, and I went down to 1 pill. This small change has helped tremendously, and I no longer have side effects, but I still feel like I need something more, so I am going to try taking the second pill in the morning, and I really feel like that will get me over the proverbial hump. I also take Vyvanse for ADHD, Lexapro (which I plan on getting off of), and Trazodone for sleep. I think I have found what works for me finally."

"At first, I thought I had found a winner. For the first few days, I was getting out for daily walks, more motivated with work, laughing more, and drinking a lot less - and no side effects! But then the benefits gradually disappeared, replaced by crippling insomnia and anxiety about a week after going up to two doses a day. I didn't sleep for four days straight; I was falling down walking to the bathroom and had double vision. It was really scary. I had to ask for a short course of Ativan or else end up in the ER. The insomnia resolved by dropping back to one dose, then the anxiety resolved immediately after discontinuation. Please be advised that there is no safe way to taper down from the starter dose (it's timed release), and most compounding pharmacies don't take insurance. So I got off cold turkey. I had only been on it a month, but after three days, I got brain zaps (manageable) for a couple of days, and anxiety and disorientation for several that have only just resolved. Good luck."

"I have been on every antidepressant over the past 40 years, and they all have given me just enough help to get by. This Auvelity is a wonder drug. I’m up to taking 2 tablets a day, and I’m only 7 days in, and I feel like a normal human being. I’m smiling, joking around with people. I can’t believe only 7 days in and I feel this good. It’s amazing. And my insurance covered it!"

"I was very depressed because most of my cats and kittens died from feline panleukopenia. This was in late October and early November. I was recovering from two surgeries in October, which made the depression worse. I started Auvelity in December. Two weeks later, I felt calmer with less anxiety. I wasn't crying every day over losing my cats. I felt a sense of being somewhat more in control of my emotions. I feel better in the morning and I seem to have more energy. Auvelity has been the most effective antidepressant for me. Carol in Idaho"

"Switched two weeks ago from 450 mg Wellbutrin AM to Auvelity AM and pm. I also take Lamictal and Fetzima for depression, Vyvanse for focus, Klonopin pm for anxiety, and Ambien, gabapentin, baclofen, and Vyepti for migraine prevention, which have some interactions with my depression meds. My mood is definitely better, as is my motivation beyond basics like getting dressed, eating, etc. I’m starting to handle more complex things and tackle important projects that my guilt, shame, and fear made impossible. My ability to think clearly and focus fades when the Vyvanse ends around 2 pm. Still struggling with other depressive symptoms and having strange side effects: dizziness, eyesight problems, and lack of appetite. It’s like I move my head and my eyes are a second behind. Really tough. I get crazy sugar cravings every night. I’m hoping dizziness, eyesight, and cravings fade. Otherwise, I like it a lot. Hate taking two times a day, though. Insurance took two months despite my savings card!"

"Unfortunately, it didn't work for my major depression. I was really hoping this would be the one. My depression is really hard to treat, so I don't know, it doesn't mean it won't work for someone else, though. No real side effects I noticed besides if you forget a dose. For me, it was mild withdrawal symptoms. Anyone who has discontinued a psych medication will know what I mean."

"I was on Wellbutrin for years for mild depression and severe ADHD. It helped keep me motivated and more organized than usual. I started Auvelity a week ago and do think it is helping. I generally feel less negative and worried. Less rumination in my head. But physically, I have had side effects and don't think I can increase to the full dose. I feel a little dissociated 1-2 hours after taking it - light-headed, trouble concentrating, physically buzzy and loopy. Once that passes, I feel a slight nausea come and go throughout the day. I also yawn a lot. I'll give it a month at 1 tablet and see how it goes."

"I was very hopeful Auvelity would work for me, but unfortunately, I experienced the very rare serious side effects. The first day I took it, I felt dizzy and drunk with a small increase of anxiety. The next day I took it, I felt the same experience with added paranoia. I was in the middle of a busy Costco, so it was not fun (thankfully I didn't drive myself there). It made me feel so intoxicated that I could barely form sentences. I thought my body would be getting used to it, so I took it on day 3 after work. Holy hell, it took me on a ride. I was dizzy, felt drunk/high, anxious, paranoid, and now delusional. I thought my bf was mad and breaking up with me, but later confirmed that it wasn't remotely true. It takes a few hours to wear off, and after, I have poor memory of things that happened during. I had real mental clarity the next day that I haven't felt in years, so it's a shame I had to stop taking it. It's 100% worth a try, but don't drive until you know how it affects you! Good luck!"
