Buprenorphine for Opioid Use Disorder "I have only just started using Suboxone/Subutex, and I have to say it works great for the cravings and the withdrawals. The only reason why I did not give it a 10 is because of the side effects. I had many side effects on the Suboxone, so my doctor moved me to the Subutex. The side effects have gone down except two. I have a problem falling asleep. I constantly pass out whenever I'm not focused on doing something. I'm standing in a company meeting, passing out and almost falling over, and driving is a challenge in its own. Secondly, it's causing stiffness in my muscles whenever I'm not moving for long periods of time. When I wake up at night or in the morning, I can't hardly move to roll over or get up. Other than these problems, it is great!"

Buprenorphine for Chronic Pain "What state do you live in to get Belbuca, Percocet, and morphine? I only got 300 mg of Belbuca. Still trying to figure out how y’all get so much medicine. Before this, I got two 10 mg Percocet and a 15 mg of morphine. Then now they want to try this. I spent this past week vomiting, bad headaches, insomnia, just misery. How this medicine can help addicts, I don't know, cause this is taking a toll on me. Was prescribed 300 mg of Belbuca. This medicine does help with nerve pain, not with bone pain."

Buprenorphine for Chronic Pain "Have classical Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and the pain from existing in a body that isn't built correctly, along with 24 surgeries. I felt like the extended-release morphine I had been on (15 mg 3x/day) wasn't working as well as it had been. The switch from morphine to buprenorphine (patch, 10 mcg) was hellish, but luckily I had oxycodone to help with that. At about a week and a half, I started to feel great! I still had some GI issues (diarrhea, gas, bloating), but like others have said, I was in such a manageable amount of pain, I wanted to go do all sorts of things that I hadn't been able to do. Now, at a little over 3 weeks, I feel bloated & gassy, jittery/skin crawling, trouble sleeping, and still have diarrhea/soft stools. I'm hoping the side effects will diminish the longer I'm on it."

For Chronic Pain "I’ve taken Belbuca for chronic back pain. I started at 150 mcg and stopped at 450 mg a day. It never helped my pain. It did make me sick to my stomach and caused serious issues with breathing, as well as insomnia. I would never suggest this to anyone. I have learned since that it is Sublocade, also known as Medicare used to treat opioid addiction."

Buprenorphine for Chronic Pain "I was started on 5 mcg Butrans for chronic low back pain due to severe degenerative disc disease, L5 S1 bone-on-bone discs, bilateral pars defects, and spondylolisthesis. I wish I’d said no to this drug when it was offered to me after countless painful visits to the hospital for my uncontrolled back pain. What doctors don’t tell you is that it interferes with your thyroid function, which causes a whole other set of problems. Not only will you get severely addicted to this medication and have a hard time getting off of it, you’ll have issues with: mood, sleep, depression, anxiety, appetite, weight issues, feeling cold all the time, and worst of all, building a low tolerance for pain. I will NOT do my back surgery unless I’m off this horrible patch. I was at 7.5 mcg for a while, but I’m down to 5 mcg now, still very potent. Buprenorphine is 20-100 times as strong as morphine. I am trying to find a way to get off this evil medication with little to no help from my pain management doctor."

Buprenorphine for Opioid Use Disorder "I am a 31-year-old female. I have struggled with opioid addiction (mainly Norco) and chronic pain for the past 5 years. I developed severe pain in my neck that got increasingly worse with no help from medication, physical therapy, or surgery. I was taking Norco, which would mask my pain for an hour at the most but left me with horrible withdrawals, severe insomnia, and depression. My physiatrist prescribed me buprenorphine, and it was very helpful. It helped my pain and got rid of opioid cravings. However, the buprenorphine sublingual tablet caused horrible constipation. I couldn't use the bathroom for 8 days and gained 10 pounds in that time. I did some research and found that the patch called Belbuca (buprenorphine buccal film) had fewer side effects. I find the patches to be a bit less helpful, but if you suffer from horrible constipation from buprenorphine, please use Belbuca."

Buprenorphine for Chronic Pain "I have used buprenorphine for a while for fibromyalgia & 3 failed back surgery pain. My pain is not totally under control, but it has helped. It does give me insomnia if I take it too close to bedtime. I cannot use pain patches. I break out from the adhesive. I use the buccal patches, which are put inside your cheek. It takes 1 hour to dissolve. It's supposed to last 12 hours, but my pain comes back within 9 hours."

For Chronic Pain "Within the first week, I had stopped eating. When I did eat, it would come back up. I had insomnia for the entire time I took it and so far for 2 weeks after. It did little for my pain."
