"Discovered I had H. pylori on an endoscopy and had really no side effects except for a sore throat, which I thought was unrelated. Started Pylera and was fine with few to no symptoms until days 5-8. I experienced spasms in my stomach and intestines, had bowel movements after every meal, and then felt weak, dizzy, and foggy. Next came extreme soreness, bloatedness, and gray teeth, so I called the doctor, and she said to stop. I only made it 8 days or 31 doses. I’m worse now than what I started with. Praying it worked."

"I took 2 antibiotics 2 months ago, and the test was still positive. The doctor prescribes Pylera. I am on day 9. I was so scared to start after I read all the reviews. My side effects are fine, some nausea sometimes, dark urine, and very dark and soft stool. On day 5, I ate nachos with cheese, and I was so ill with nausea. Then I stopped eating dairy food at all, and it’s much better. I still have bloating. Hope Pylera killed the bacteria, and when I test again, it’s negative. Good luck, everyone."

"This is day 10 for me, and I made it. Based on bad reviews, I was refusing to take this medication for nearly a month, I was terrified to start taking them. But my doctor said I have to take them. Well, the only side effect I had was dark stools, and that's it. No dizziness, no stomach pains, no black tongue, no dark urine, a bit of tiredness in the evenings, but nothing dramatic. I was strict with the times of taking them: 6:30 am, 11:30 am, 5:00 pm, 9:30 pm. Always with meals: well, rice, pasta, bread, avocado, bananas, egg, any other fruits. No sauces at all. 3 to 4 liters of water every day. I believe food and water made the difference in not having side effects."

"I got really sick back in 2017. I thought it was food poisoning. I kept going to the ER, lost 30 lbs also. Eventually, I was referred to a GI. I was given an endoscopy and was diagnosed with chronic gastritis. I had to completely change my diet and lifestyle. Everything was going okay until this year. All the stomach pains, loss of appetite, etc., came back with a vengeance. I went to another doctor and we scheduled another endoscopy. Come to find out, I had H. Pylori the entire time. I was prescribed Pylera. Tomorrow will be day 10 of taking this medication. I have to be honest. Dealing with this illness for so long, I was willing to take whatever could help me and my stomach. Back to the medicine. I haven't had any side effects. Maybe a slight headache. Of course dark urine and stools, but that was expected. I get good sleep and I workout daily. If you have to take this medicine, do so. Everyone's body is different. The only thing that's a negative is the 12 pills a day plus the 2 Prevacid pills."

"I had no idea that I had this H. pylori infection, found out by submitting a stool sample. I am on the 9th day of taking Pylera, and I pray I am cured when I return to the doctor. I also hope I never have to take it again because of tired feeling, black stools, irritability, and overall bad feeling. So thankful that tomorrow is my last day!"

"I’ve been on Pylera for 6 days now, and when I started, I was so scared because of the reviews, but I’m so glad I did it anyway. I’m a very sensitive person when it comes to medicines and new things, but I surprisingly had little to no side effects. I did have loose stools, but that’s about it. The only real struggle is the fact you have to take 14 pills a day. (Pylera with omeprazole)"

"I’m on day 6, and I’ve been experiencing extremely painful stinging in my stomach. I’m always tired, hard to eat towards the end of the day, hurts to pass stool because of the stinging pain, and I wake up feeling “hungover” and nauseous. I hope I don’t have to go through another round of this because it’s worse than the pain I was feeling beforehand!"

"I’m glad that I found this site, I am not the only one fighting H. pylori. I was about to quit, I’m on my 9th day, so I’ll push it for one more day. The first 5 days, I had minor side effects, although they made me wake up 2 to 3 times at night. Later, side effects became more obvious. I’m still getting up 2 to 3 times, walking around to eliminate built-up gases, and went back to bed to catch up on more sleep. I try to eat well but not meals that might make it worse, and yes, with a lot of water. Also, don’t think too much or read about it so you can stay strong mentally. Good luck to you, my friends, and if you can pray, it helped me a lot. I hope that this drug will eradicate this annoying and smart bug for good. This is my third time after 10 years each time, but my first time taking Pylera."

"Had an endoscopy a few weeks ago for the main purpose of dilating the esophagus. I received a call a week later telling me about the H. pylori, so I began the regimen 7 days ago. Today has been the worst of the 7 days, I am very dizzy and nauseous. I am never hungry, so it's been difficult to force-feed just to get the pills down. I have headaches and a metallic taste in my mouth. The two worse times are lunch and dinner. I'm only 107 lbs, so may just cut back a pill on my own, pray that helps. I have neck pain and headaches, but that could be due to a nerve block on the neck done 8 days ago. Will repost after the breathing test. I was told to stay away from Motrin, which helps with my neck pain, that's another aggravation. No bowel issues."

"I felt my body go through a shock, and I felt a few side effects, which I freaked, but it disappeared immediately. My advice: drink at least 16 ounces of water with your pills and make sure you eat something. The color of stool changed to a dark metallic color, but I feel better. The medicine is working."

"This is one awful thing in a bottle: Day 4 I feel like I am alive, but I am no longer alive on the inside. Extreme side effects. As a nurse, this medication made me realize what my patients go through every single day. I wish for health for everyone. Good luck."

"This is my 8th day of taking Pylera. I feel poisoned. These drugs are poison. My chest is burning up from acid. I can feel acid in my nose as well. I am pretty much confined to my couch or bed. 2 more days to go. I am concerned that this medicine is damaging my esophagus from severe acid reflux. The doc was insistent on curing this even if I did not have any ulcers. I felt so much better before this treatment. Please prepare plastic spoons and bowls. You won't have the energy to wash anything. Also prepare 10 days' worth of food you can eat using the microwave. You won't be driving anywhere either. Not all will experience terrible side effects (I had them all), but for sure they are real for me."

"I'm going to start off by saying DO NOT READ INTO EVERYONE'S SIDE EFFECTS. I did, and it freaked me out even before I started this medicine. I'm almost finished with day 4 and have had really no side effects. I've had a headache for a few days, but I just got my period the same day I started the pills. Sorry, TMI."

"I am on day 5 and all I can say is I hope this Pylera helps. I've been getting a bad taste in my mouth, insomnia, which makes it so hard to function. Also headaches, stomach pain, extreme fatigue, mood swings, dark stools and urine, loss of appetite, etc. But I am hopeful that this works versus all the other antibiotics I've taken. It seems like a never-ending battle, just about a year now, and getting aggravated with this and being so limited on what to and not to eat to upset me. Hoping for the best. Good luck to all."

"I'm on day 5. This has been hard to go through, but I think it's doable so far. For me, it was hard to eat a full meal and then take 3 pills consecutively after. It was easier to eat a little, take 1 pill, wait 10-15 min, eat again, take another pill, then wait until all 3 pills are gone. It was easier on my stomach and increased the amount I ate. As far as symptoms, I've experienced them all. Fruit, apple sauce, Cheerios, and veggie sandwiches worked best for me. Get the apple sauce in the little pouches, you can recap them if you get full. I am an 18-year-old, 5'6", 120 lb female in case that means anything to anyone."

"I just stumbled upon this site and gladly so. I recently had an endoscopy performed, and the biopsy revealed H. Pylori bacteria. What the heck is that? How did I get it, and how long have I had it? Thought I was having liver pain, no gallbladder issues, no hiatal hernia, or pancreatitis! What I have is this creepy bacteria that has caused erosive ulcers in my stomach and duodenum area, along with rings in my esophagus that have caused me to have spasms while swallowing. Then bloating and abdominal cramping began at the latest stage. The GI doc prescribed Pylera, and I have now taken 2 doses with 28 more to go! Will let you all know how I do."

"I was prescribed Pylera, 3 pills 4 times a day, with omeprazole twice a day. I'm on day 6. The first couple of days were a little tough, but not too bad. Comments made me so scared, but I'm glad I didn't get the bad symptoms. Day 6 was my best day, I even ate a meal and didn't have stomach pain for the first time in years! Hope it works. Good luck to all."

"Today is my 9th day on this medication. The first day, I had no symptoms. As the days went by, it got worse-very nauseous every day after that. I am extremely tired and have a metal taste in my mouth all day that makes me even more sick to my stomach. I recommend chewing gum. Some cramping and black stool. I hope this medicine takes care of the problem. Taking a breathing test in a month-fingers crossed."

"First of all, if you're on this site - step away from the computer! Yes, it's good to gather information, but get it from a medical professional. Everyone is so different, and no one responds the same way, so why distress yourself with all the glum and doom scenarios of other people? I did the regimen and did have 3 days where I felt real bad, but after being sick as a dog for 6 weeks from an actual infection, 3 bad days was a piece of cake."

"Worst experience taking Pylera. I'm always sick, dizzy, nauseated, and stomach cramping. Day 5, I'm having dark urine. I force myself to eat and take the meds. I can only pray this works. My 1st set of medication didn't work for 10 days, so now I'm on Pylera. I want to have my normal life back. This is so, so painful. I'm missing work and spending quality time with my 7-year-old because I'm always feeling so sick. I wish you all the best of luck with this."

"Ok, I'm back to share my experience with Pylera. I completed a 10-day dose of 12 pills/day. Glad that I read reviews before beginning, or else the side effects would've concerned me. From day 1, I experienced daily nausea even though I ate a small meal with each dose, had a slight headache for about 3 days, my feces turned blackish brown by day 3 and lost its stink! No kidding! I also felt a little off, i.e., a feeling not quite right and a little tired. I drank a lot of water with each dose, just as stated. I won't know the results for another 2-3 weeks. In the meantime, I am taking Omeprazole 2x daily and a probiotic."

"I've been off of Pylera for 5 days, and just now feeling a little better. The worst has been diarrhea/loose stool for 14 days. Tested negative for C-Diff, thank God. The nausea and fatigue were also just as bad. I went on probiotics 2x daily and a yogurt a day right after treatment. I still have strong urges to use the bathroom as soon as I get up, but things appear to be slowing down. I am on 3 different ointments due to fissure/hemorrhoid, and still feeling fatigued. Worst treatment I have ever experienced, but had little choice after Prepak failure. I give it a '1' only in terms of side effects. If my UBT comes back negative at the end of the month, I give it a '10.' My suffering was then worth it."

"The dosage I was given is 1 Pylera 4 times per day, and I am still in treatment-only have some nausea, but it goes away. Will see about effectiveness after I confirm that it took care of the problem when treatment is completed. Hope this helps."

"Talk about a medicine with side effects. I tried Prevpac, which failed to eradicate H. pylori, so here I am. Before I start, remember not everyone's body reacts the same to medicine. Some are sensitive to these medicines while others are not. First day of medicine, no side effects. Second day, I started with a really bad headache. Third day, headache, fourth day, nausea and very tired. Fifth day, aches, pains, nausea, and weak. Rest of the days, very nauseated, my blood pressure dropped, and I was very lightheaded and shaky. Tried to sleep as much as I could. I am on day 8, and CANNOT wait for this to be over. Praying it works because I don't think I can go through it again."

"I'm only on day 2, and I had to call out of work because I've felt nauseous all day. Yesterday I was nauseous, but today is 10x worse. I have chills, loose stools, woke up with a weird taste in my mouth last night, and I'm sick to my stomach. I've barely gotten out of bed all day, and I have no idea how I'm supposed to complete 10 days of this medication. I feel like I've been poisoned, and it's slowly killing me."
