For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I took the 875/125 mg every 12 hours for 10 days for walking pneumonia, upper respiratory, and sinus infection. Side effects: fuzzy feeling in my head, dizziness, and lethargy. Also had bubbling in my stomach and diarrhea. I want to share some helpful tips that were suggested by my pharmacist: 1. DO NOT take this on an empty stomach. That is a recipe for disaster as this will destroy your insides. Please do yourself a favor and have a hearty meal before taking this. Carb it up with some bread/pasta so there is something in your tummy before this medicine comes in Gladiator style to battle the bacteria. 2. Hydrate! Taking this with water is SO important! Drink at least a bottle of water after taking the pill. 3. Take a supplemental probiotic. I also ate a container of yogurt. 4. I read in a review to eat chocolate while on this. Had some M&Ms after the pill. DK if it helped, but it tasted great and made me happy, so to each their own."

For Middle Ear Infections "I took Augmentin 875 mg twice a day for a really bad ear infection. It worked very quickly to resolve the inner ear pain from the infection after 24 hours or 3 doses. Yes, it made me very nauseous because I forgot to eat food with it, but once I took some Zofran-ODT 8 mg along with some food, I felt no more nausea. Also, highly recommend taking a probiotic to prevent intestinal issues (read: diarrhea and gas). I have taken Augmentin in the past for a sinus infection, and it worked very well then too. I am sorry that some people did not gain relief from Augmentin, but I hope these individuals were able to see their physicians to get a different antibiotic for their infection that worked better for them."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Urinary Tract Infection "I am currently on day 5 of a 10-day course of Augmentin ES-600, 5 ml, 2x a day for a high count E. coli UTI. This is my 3rd antibiotic for this. It's working. Killing the bacteria. I am having yeast-like issues even though I'm on 3 probiotics a day and loose stool. I also have bad muscle soreness and pain if I do the slightest activity. I will update after I finish the course but wanted to make you aware of these strong side effects."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Was diagnosed with a sinus infection. I have not used antibiotics in years. Put me on Augmentin. Took the fourth dose this morning, so day three. I feel horrible! So tired, foggy, just want to sleep, my heart feels a little racey, bad gas, diarrhea yesterday, bad cramping. Taking with food and probiotics. I am trying to give it a chance, but I can't seem to do anything but sit here. I almost felt better before starting it."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "Augmentin worked fast within 3 days for my strep throat, but the diarrhea and stomach aches I had taking this were awful. Even for a few days after I had finished the 10 days of antibiotics. The first few days, I experienced some trouble sleeping, night sweats, and the headache here and there. Generally worked well, but side effects were not fun."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "I started Augmentin on Thursday morning because I had typhoid. My doctor insisted it would clear it and make me feel better. Since Thursday, I have experienced extreme diarrhea, nausea, and body pains. I wake up 8-10 times during the night to vomit and stool. Both happen simultaneously, and as of this morning, on the fourth day, I feel like I might never get better. I am going to stop it. I have no more strength to even puke or sit up. I can't lie on my belly or back either, and my two sides are aching seriously due to the constant support."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "DO NOT TAKE AUGMENTIN! I am healthy (run marathons - no pre-existing conditions) and never take meds. I was prescribed this for a headache (after a vehicle accident) and a little sinusitis at Onpoint. I was so sick, and after 5 days (my heart started hurting, lost all healthy bacteria (worst diarrhea and stripped stomach lining), had a fiery red rash after 10 days all over my body! It took 2 weeks for the rash to go away after I got off Augmentin. My body systems have never been the same!! Destroyed them. THIS IS TOXIC, tell your doctors too). If you MUST take an antibiotic, use something safer. Also, my husband (really healthy) didn't quite believe me. He was prescribed it, he was flat on his back/couch, vomiting and couldn't MOVE after 2 days! He stopped immediately."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I've been on Augmentin for 7 days now. It is helping my upper respiratory infection, but I'm having anxiety and very loose stools (very dark diarrhea). Also, my heart beats faster than normal too. I've only got 3 days left to take it. I'll be glad when it's done. I also feel fatigued and have a little blurry vision. My body is very sensitive to drugs. But despite all that, I do feel it has helped with the upper respiratory problem. I'm just ready to feel better and healthy!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I started this medication 3 days ago. By the 2nd day, I had lots of diarrhea and gas. Still lingering, but has subsided a bit. And it is clearing up the sinus infection. Just make sure to have a toilet near you."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "This cleared my throat infection within 2 days and made me feel so much better pretty quickly as far as temperature and discomfort were concerned. However, I did vomit with it and felt nauseous for about an hour and a half after taking it. The diarrhea is still with me on day 4."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Should have paid attention more to the bad reviews about this drug instead of taking a chance on the good reviews. Took 1 pill of the 825 mg-125 and ended up in the ER last night. SEVERE abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting bile. I vomited bile all the way to the ER in the ambulance. Had a full workup. CT scan, the works. I will never, ever take this medication again. Super strong, I followed the directions and took it with enough food. I am now home from the hospital, and my stomach is still paying for it. This one pill destroyed me. I can't imagine what it did to people who took more or the full course."

For Bacterial Infection "This is the 3rd antibiotic I was prescribed, with the one before this being an in-hospital I.V. drip. And so far it’s working, so I couldn’t be any happier. I had a severe infection in my mouth that spread to my jaw and then my neck. I have been getting a couple of the more common, less serious side effects like nauseousness and diarrhea, but I’d rather have side effects than this infection spreading to my bloodstream, which is what I was up against. So for those people looking at the negative comments, just remember that most people will only leave a comment if it is negative, so stay strong and I hope everything works out for you guys!!!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Started on 100 mg of Augmentin for sinus infection. Cleared up sinuses well but had severe diarrhea. I wasn't concerned by this considering it's the common side effect, but I just took my last dose. Not four hours later, I threw up twice and had more bowel movements. This medication was not for me."

For Bacterial Infection "I will never, and I mean never, take this medicine again. If I see the doctor say amoxicillin/clavulanate, I'm running for the hills. It gave me vaginal itching (vaginal yeast infection). It is horrible. I had diarrhea - I pooped till I couldn't poop anymore. I'm done taking this."

For Pneumonia "This drug amoxicillin/clav is very strong. It heals and kills everything bad in its path. I had a pimple on my face during my treatment for pneumonia, and that cleared up in one day. The only thing is that taking yogurt with it is a must, otherwise, you will have diarrhea."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "I started Augmentin 1 gm twice/day 5 days ago (Wed. Sep. 9th) to treat inflammation in the tooth root. The stomach problems started by day 4. Today (day 5) was really bad: headache, stomach pain, pain in my joints, and my whole body. I also had a loose stool from day 1. I called my doctor, explained the situation, and he said I can stop taking it, a minimum of 4 days should suffice. So I took 9 out of a course of 14 tablets. I hope I'll get rid of my whole-body pain and stomach problems soon. So overall experience with Augmentin: bad."

For Sinusitis "This medication is terrible. It causes me to have very bad headaches while I feel like I'm having migraines, but it's caused by this medicine. I get terrible diarrhea, nausea, and I throw up. I just feel like garbage. I was told this will clear me up and make me feel better, but I feel way worse now. I have been on it for 3 days, and I have now decided to stop. Hopefully, I will feel better when this medicine is out of my system. Much love to all using it."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "After a 10-day dosage, I developed severe diarrhea with bloody stools. (C. diff) Went to ER and was diagnosed with C. diff. For Bacterial Infection "Nasty multiple cat bites, so urgent care gave me this. 6 hr later, suddenly vomited all over with no notice. After 2 days, only 4 pills, now anything I eat running straight through me within 30 mins. Absolutely horrible and been off that medicine 2 days and still happening even after 4 Imodium in the last 24 hrs. Does anyone know how to stop this? So severe I can't go to work as I don't even have a minute to run to the bathroom. I will NEVER EVER take this medicine again even if I'm dying!"

For Bronchitis "Prescribed Amox-Clav after trying to fight off bronchitis by myself for 2 weeks. Given 875 mg twice a day for 10 days. By day 3, I noticed a dramatic lessening of my coughing, clearing of my sinuses (which was unexpected). By day 5, my cough is almost completely gone. On day 5, my stools are very off -- almost nothing is produced, and it's slimy in consistency. I will try probiotics to see if it helps. Note: last night and the first day I took this, I suddenly felt cold and started shaking for 15 minutes. I layered up immediately and felt fine after 10 minutes or so. I suspect being hungry triggered this. When I eat a bit of food just before the pill, my stomach cramps are far less. I also recommend taking yogurt for diarrhea."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bronchitis "This antibiotic is the best when it comes to treating sinus infections. I have had bronchitis for about 3 months, and it’s clearing everything up! I have a very weak stomach and have never been able to take antibiotics and finish a full round, so this time I started taking Omeprazole 30 minutes before my dose is due and, of course, with food, and only once experienced stomach upset. I have read a lot of people complain about diarrhea. I suffer from constipation and have been to the bathroom very often, so I’m guessing that is my equivalent of that."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Having new medication anxiety, a sensitive stomach, acid reflux, and an irrational fear of diarrhea and vomiting made me terrified of taking this medication after reading a lot of these reviews. But! The key here is food. Avoid anything that upsets your guts. Eat something right before taking the pill and eat a probiotics yogurt 2-3 hours after taking the pill. This will help with an angry tummy and also help prevent yeast infections caused by antibiotics, ladies. Don’t skip a meal and snack on crackers or the likes throughout the day. This med is bad if it is in an empty stomach. Coming from someone who has taken a lower dose of amoxicillin only and gotten the runs every time, with sticking to a strict regimen of never letting the gut be empty and eating the yogurt 2 hours after taking the pill, I’ve had no side effects and started feeling better on the 2nd day. Goodbye bacterial sinusitis."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "Medicine is working excellently, however, the side effects are intense. Severe diarrhea, horrible headache within an hour of each dose that gets worse when I stand. I'm only on day 3 of a 10-day cycle."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bronchitis "Knocked out in short order a bad case of bronchitis. Coughing jags that were out of control stopped within the first 24 hours. Now on the eighth day of meds and feel human again. Only side effect was slight diarrhea."
