For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Today is my 5th day of taking the medication. I too was worried about taking it after reading some horror stories regarding the side effects. I am happy to say that so far the only side effects that I've experienced are a little tiredness the first day and the bad taste in my mouth, which I've noticed that I've experienced more in the middle of the night upon waking for various reasons. All in all, I am pleased, other than the fact that I have to take them for 14 days. Good luck to all!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was very hesitant to take the meds due to the horror stories, and I'm glad I actually went through with it! Everyone reacts differently to the meds, and it's not as bad as I read it would be! I'm currently on Day 10 of 14 (almost there... Kudos to me!) The first couple of days I felt nothing. By Day 4, I noticed the dark stool, and I'm still having dark stools. By Day 8, I'm a bit nauseous at times and would feel better after eating. So far, yesterday, which was Day 9 for me, I felt the worst of it. I was nauseous all day, light headache, frequently having BMs, and exhausted. Today, Day 10, a little nauseous earlier around breakfast and a little bit now, but better after eating! Also, my sense of smell seems to have heightened, which also makes me nauseous. But overall, it's definitely not as bad as I read or as bad as the doctor told me it would be. But honestly, I can't wait to finish!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was worried going into this medicine after reading so many negative things. I took it for 14 days and had minimal side effects. I feel like it did what it was intended to do and am grateful my pain has ceased and am feeling human again. The only side effects I had were a headache one day, drowsiness, bad taste in the mouth a couple of times, and a pretty active female yeast infection. All of which are better now. Good luck to those who need it. Wishing you good results too."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "What's with the horror stories! Based on these reviews, I decided to delay my medication treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection for as long as I could. I was prescribed a 14-day course. The side effects are gravely exaggerated. I believe, with a balanced diet and rest, the side effects for me were really minimal. My side effects included a general feeling of weakness and the occasional bitterness in my mouth. I did puke thrice on day 5, but that was the only day. I took the morning dose with a probiotic and a rice salad. Had lots of yogurt, brown rice, and steamed veggies. Today is day 14. I don't know if I have been cured, but I do know that the side effects are not that bad."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I took the Prevpac many years ago after suffering with sharp abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, severe heartburn, and probably other symptoms I can't remember. I had no issues with the medication whatsoever. I encourage those of you who are reading negative comments to put your health first, as allowing this infection to persist can lead to conditions much worse than simply having a bacteria in your stomach. If you should get any symptoms with the medications, rest assured you are probably already having them now! You will feel back to normal again after a few days. I have read some comments where some have stated they have other issues with their backs, neck, etc. From a medical and professional standpoint, these symptoms are not related. I recommend you eat some yogurt with the treatment throughout the course to help with symptoms if you are more sensitive to medications."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've had some stomach pain, but nothing like before I was diagnosed. The taste is getting really bad in my mouth - I'm on day 7, but I just keep drinking water to get rid of the taste. It's like a zingy, metal taste, raw like I burned my tongue on coffee. I do have cramping about an hour after taking, but then it goes away. I have more bowel movements, but I assume it's just the meds working. It's almost over. Hopefully, I never have to do anything like this again. I'm no longer tired, groggy, no energy - I feel fantastic - I had no idea it was the infection making me so ill."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 4, and the stomach pain has not subsided, being H. pylori positive. The drugs put a terrible taste in my mouth. Even during sleep, the bad taste wakes me up and makes me want to gag. I've been eating lemon drops and candy to help keep it washed back down."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Two years ago, I began having symptoms of H. pylori. The first episode lasted about 20 minutes. It was a terrible pain in my upper abdomen. The pain was more intense than gas pain, but I wrote it off as such. After that, every 3 months or so, I would be woken up by the same terrible pain, and I always knew I wasn't getting sleep that night as it would last 4-6 hours and I could not get comfortable. I had one of those night episodes, but the pain wouldn't go away. It wasn't constantly the same degree of pain, sometimes it would be a churning pain, a bloated pain, or a general soreness. After a week, I went to the doctor and was tested positive for H. pylori. There was a huge difference on day 3, and the pain was just about gone on day 4. Amazing."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Don't be afraid to take the Prevpac for H. pylori. I have suffered for a month with pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I'm on only day 3 of a 14-day treatment, and I am almost back to my old self again! Many people complain about the side effects, but all I have experienced is a slight metal taste in my mouth at times - so worth being almost well."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've completed my 7-day Prevpac treatment. I did have side effects after the first day of starting the course of medicines. I experienced a racing heartbeat, slight breathlessness, and diarrhea, only for a few hours, though. But I was absolutely unable to sleep the first night of taking the pills because of the bitter taste in my mouth when I lay down. The bitterness was the one thing that bothered me all the 7 days. Thank goodness that the course is over now. However, the major symptom that I had was severe bloating (firm near the upper abdomen), and it is still there with no visible changes. My GP says it will take time to see results, say at least 2 months. Waiting for the 2 months to fly ASAP, fingers crossed!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was diagnosed with H. pylori a year ago and finally did Prevpac. I've had terrible diarrhea since starting - took my last dose today. Generally, my stomach was always churning, and the diarrhea was consistent while on the treatment. No other side effects, energy levels were fine, and I was able to work out daily. Hopefully, H. pylori is gone."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "For the first week, I was in excruciating pain: nausea, severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, sweating, insomnia, confusion, extreme exhaustion and fatigue, battery acid taste in my mouth, etc. I reached out to my doctor and pharmacist who offered absolutely no help. Through research, I found that taking probiotics/yogurt helps with EVERYTHING, stay as hydrated as you can. I ate a lot of ramen noodles to compensate for actual food/water since my appetite was nonexistent. I didn't think I was going to be able to finish the treatment. If I test positive again, I'm going with natural remedies."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I had bad reflux, night nausea, and heartburn for nearly 7 months before being diagnosed with an endoscopy. Only on Day 3 of therapy (Amoxicillin, Clarithromycin, and Omeprazole). Side effects: mild nausea, no strange taste, but I do get thirsty and I have had quite bad stomach pain (bloating, gas, etc.) and back pain. I was also very scared to take these meds after reading all the comments, but so far so good. The most annoying thing is having to take so many meds at one time! Hoping I have no new side effects. I do take a probiotic and anti-nausea pills twice per day with the antibiotics, and I do take the antibiotics with food. I really hope that after the 14 days I am cured, as I don't want to have to do this again!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was a little nervous about taking this after reading some horror stories online. The first day I had some burning in my stomach and nausea, but then I started taking a probiotic an hour before the AM and PM antibiotics, and that helped amazingly well. The only side effect I suffered for the 2 weeks was a bad taste in my mouth (a little like metal). The Prevpac worked for me. No more stomach issues. I just recommend taking a probiotic. It really helped!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was diagnosed with HP and am on day 6 of treatment. I have extreme insomnia, a very bad taste in my mouth all the time, no matter what I do, have stomach pain and gas I can't seem to pass, did have diarrhea on the first couple days of treatment but now constipated. I want to feel better soon."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have had ulcers, stomach pain, and digestive issues for 6 years. Doctors were no help, always prescribing PPIs or H2 blockers. An emergency doc gave me Prevpac. I have experienced minimal side effects. I had diarrhea once so far. I'm on day 9, and I have been taking a 50 billion probiotic at lunch and a 20 billion probiotic at bedtime. My 50 billion probiotic has to be refrigerated. Overall, I am feeling pretty good. No stomach pain, and my bowel movements are normal for the first time in my life. Even though I hate antibiotics, this one seems to be working well. I will, however, wean myself off the Previcid to avoid rebound acid. Oh, and all meds affect me, but this one is okay. Anything is better than what I have had to deal with over the years."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was tested for the dreaded H. pylori, and the doc said I had a high amount in my gut. I was prescribed the triple therapy, all prescribed separately, so the cost was generic - $22 with insurance. I dreaded starting this regimen from all the horrific reviews - but I'm on day 2, and so far so good. I do have some explosive diarrhea at times, churning stomach, mild headache, and very tired. I'm hoping the rest of the 12 days will go this smoothly. I'm on holiday break, so I'm taking the time off - I don't see how someone could work a stressful or manual labor job on these drugs. I did take all the advice from this forum - I am taking two Align probiotics a day with several glasses of kefir and yogurt and eating small veggie meals and crackers - nothing acid, spicy, or carb-heavy."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am so happy I found this site!!! I am on day 10 of the HPAC (amoxicillin/clarithromycin/lansoprazole). The first few days were great. Felt better than I have in the last year. But on day 8, I started to feel ill. Terrible, terrible nausea, stomach ache, headache, loss of energy, can’t sleep, hate food, metallic taste... Thought of stopping treatment, but after reading other posts, I will take some probiotics, yogurt, Gravol, and hope it gets me through the next 4 days. I found if you need quick relief from the stomach pain and nausea for an hour, Gaviscon will help. Hope this works. Could not go through another course of treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Day 4, and it's starting to work. I tested positive for H. Pylori after noticing bloating and pain after a trip to China in 2009. I was given Prevpac in 2009 but never ended up taking it due to a separate illness (it was a bad year). I ended up ignoring H. Pylori until recently, due to it getting so bad I have begun staying bedridden on weekends and feeling nauseous all the time. Energy has been zapped, as well as chest pains and other weird sensations. Went back to the doctor and got the script again. Started Friday - the first few days were a little rough with nausea (always take with food!), but it's getting better. I feel much more energy, and the constant stomach pain has minimized dramatically. Fingers crossed this is the solution."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 5 of taking this medication. I was feeling fine, but now I am experiencing severe lower back pain. It seems to come and go. I am going to call my doctor to see if this is a common side effect and if it means something bad is happening due to the meds. Whatever the doctor says, I will report back here."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 8. No stomach issues except mild cramping every so often, maybe once a day for a couple of minutes. The worst part for me is the disgusting taste, and like others, it is waking me up, it's so nasty. Also, starting yesterday, it feels like my tongue is on fire. I pray that after I complete the Prevpac, I never have to do it again. I am miserable."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "On Day 6 of the 14-day treatment. The side effects I've experienced haven't been too bad: the bad taste in my mouth (usually at night and first thing in the morning), hard time staying asleep (insomnia), yellow stools, and some left-side aches, which I think may have to do with constipation. I'm sure I would be worse if I didn't take a probiotic with every dose of these meds."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Don't be scared of Prevpac, the first couple of days are kind of rough due to initially getting rid of a large amount of H. pylori, but you immediately start feeling better when taking it with a probiotic. Prevpac is candy compared to some of the other fluoroquinolones like Cipro or levofloxacin. Trust me, you do not want them. I'm on day 13 or 14, and I feel like a million dollars."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am not fond of meds, so I wasted 3 months doing Dr. Google on natural approaches. It didn't work, as I continue having stomach pain, reflux, bloating, etc. Out of desperation, I went to the doctor, and he confirmed I had HP. I'm on day 6 and feel miserable with the side effects: insomnia, high pulse rate, stress, etc. However, my gut seems to be better. I can eat better. I will take the probiotics, they seem to help. Good luck."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on my 5th day of the 14-day treatment and am beginning to feel better. I read the effects of this drug and was very apprehensive about taking it. However, I am pleased to report that my side effects are minimal. They include slightly bad taste, slight nausea, and constipation. I'll report back upon the conclusion of my treatment."
