For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "PEOPLE, PLEASE DON'T COME HERE TO GET FEAR INSTILLED IN YOU ABOUT THIS MEDICINE. Other people's experiences may NOT EVER happen to you. I didn't take it for a whole year because of these kinds of websites. Let's put this out there: I DO NOT LIVE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. I eat fried food, I eat out a lot (hence, why I think I got the bacteria). I barely work out, and I'm considered overweight. (NOT BRAGGING, JUST BEING TRUTHFUL) And the medicine still worked for me. If you're dealing with horrific side effects, 9/10 you were probably dealing with those things one way or another without medication. For the nausea, eat 1/2 a toast before taking it. For the insomnia, don't take it right before you go to bed, 2-3 hours in advance. The metallic taste goes away after you eat."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "When I had an upper GI endoscopy, I was diagnosed with H. pylori. He gave me one PPI that is esomeprazole 40 mg, amoxicillin 500 mg, and clarithromycin 500 mg for 14 days. I took it for 12 days. I can't take more than that because of the side effects. It has been a week since I stopped it, but I still haven't recovered. My symptoms are the same as before: indigestion, nausea, throat burning problems, acid reflux, etc. I don't know when I will be free from this disease. Can anyone help me? I'm helpless and worried too much about this problem."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm currently on day 11 of Prevpac. I was very nervous about taking it after reading horror stories online. The first day I was very nauseous after taking it in the morning. That afternoon I purchased some probiotics, and they have been a huge help! My only side effect is a bad taste in my mouth, but chewing gum helps with that! I feel great now, but I'm excited to be done with the meds in three days. I've been having stomach issues for three years with no definite answer until finally a doctor tested me for H. Pylori, and it came back positive. Prevpac really isn't that bad. I highly recommend taking probiotics, though!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Not too bad, this is my second time taking the medication. The first time I was given lansoprazole, amoxicillin, and metronidazole, which I had major side effects from, and after reading horror story reviews, I stopped at day 5 of 7. Later found out it was the metronidazole that caused my horrible side effects. Now I'm on the course again, but instead of metronidazole, I was prescribed clarithromycin, which is so much better! Apart from the occasional nausea and metallic/bitter taste, I've had no other side effects, and it's helped increase my appetite. I'm on day 4 of 7 now and have high hopes for this drug. Will update after I finish the treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've had the H. pylori infection for at least a few years, but this year it got to a point where I couldn't handle it. I had severe gastritis and couldn't eat anymore. Some days the food I ate over the course of a day wouldn't even add up to one meal. The treatment was not pleasant, but tolerable. It's a lot of pills to take in one day, and I felt exhausted some of the days. A few weeks after I finished the treatment, I noticed that I no longer have immediate pain and nausea when I try to eat. Now (4 months later), I can almost eat a full meal and feel okay. It took a while to recover, but it was very much worth it."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was very hesitant to take the meds due to the horror stories, and I'm glad I actually went through with it! Everyone reacts differently to the meds, and it's not as bad as I read it would be! I'm currently on Day 10 of 14 (almost there... Kudos to me!) The first couple of days I felt nothing. By Day 4, I noticed the dark stool, and I'm still having dark stools. By Day 8, I'm a bit nauseous at times and would feel better after eating. So far, yesterday, which was Day 9 for me, I felt the worst of it. I was nauseous all day, light headache, frequently having BMs, and exhausted. Today, Day 10, a little nauseous earlier around breakfast and a little bit now, but better after eating! Also, my sense of smell seems to have heightened, which also makes me nauseous. But overall, it's definitely not as bad as I read or as bad as the doctor told me it would be. But honestly, I can't wait to finish!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I took the Prevpac many years ago after suffering with sharp abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, severe heartburn, and probably other symptoms I can't remember. I had no issues with the medication whatsoever. I encourage those of you who are reading negative comments to put your health first, as allowing this infection to persist can lead to conditions much worse than simply having a bacteria in your stomach. If you should get any symptoms with the medications, rest assured you are probably already having them now! You will feel back to normal again after a few days. I have read some comments where some have stated they have other issues with their backs, neck, etc. From a medical and professional standpoint, these symptoms are not related. I recommend you eat some yogurt with the treatment throughout the course to help with symptoms if you are more sensitive to medications."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Don't be afraid to take the Prevpac for H. pylori. I have suffered for a month with pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I'm on only day 3 of a 14-day treatment, and I am almost back to my old self again! Many people complain about the side effects, but all I have experienced is a slight metal taste in my mouth at times - so worth being almost well."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "For the first week, I was in excruciating pain: nausea, severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, sweating, insomnia, confusion, extreme exhaustion and fatigue, battery acid taste in my mouth, etc. I reached out to my doctor and pharmacist who offered absolutely no help. Through research, I found that taking probiotics/yogurt helps with EVERYTHING, stay as hydrated as you can. I ate a lot of ramen noodles to compensate for actual food/water since my appetite was nonexistent. I didn't think I was going to be able to finish the treatment. If I test positive again, I'm going with natural remedies."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was a little nervous about taking this after reading some horror stories online. The first day I had some burning in my stomach and nausea, but then I started taking a probiotic an hour before the AM and PM antibiotics, and that helped amazingly well. The only side effect I suffered for the 2 weeks was a bad taste in my mouth (a little like metal). The Prevpac worked for me. No more stomach issues. I just recommend taking a probiotic. It really helped!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am so happy I found this site!!! I am on day 10 of the HPAC (amoxicillin/clarithromycin/lansoprazole). The first few days were great. Felt better than I have in the last year. But on day 8, I started to feel ill. Terrible, terrible nausea, stomach ache, headache, loss of energy, can’t sleep, hate food, metallic taste... Thought of stopping treatment, but after reading other posts, I will take some probiotics, yogurt, Gravol, and hope it gets me through the next 4 days. I found if you need quick relief from the stomach pain and nausea for an hour, Gaviscon will help. Hope this works. Could not go through another course of treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I had bad reflux, night nausea, and heartburn for nearly 7 months before being diagnosed with an endoscopy. Only on Day 3 of therapy (Amoxicillin, Clarithromycin, and Omeprazole). Side effects: mild nausea, no strange taste, but I do get thirsty and I have had quite bad stomach pain (bloating, gas, etc.) and back pain. I was also very scared to take these meds after reading all the comments, but so far so good. The most annoying thing is having to take so many meds at one time! Hoping I have no new side effects. I do take a probiotic and anti-nausea pills twice per day with the antibiotics, and I do take the antibiotics with food. I really hope that after the 14 days I am cured, as I don't want to have to do this again!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Day 4, and it's starting to work. I tested positive for H. Pylori after noticing bloating and pain after a trip to China in 2009. I was given Prevpac in 2009 but never ended up taking it due to a separate illness (it was a bad year). I ended up ignoring H. Pylori until recently, due to it getting so bad I have begun staying bedridden on weekends and feeling nauseous all the time. Energy has been zapped, as well as chest pains and other weird sensations. Went back to the doctor and got the script again. Started Friday - the first few days were a little rough with nausea (always take with food!), but it's getting better. I feel much more energy, and the constant stomach pain has minimized dramatically. Fingers crossed this is the solution."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on my 5th day of the 14-day treatment and am beginning to feel better. I read the effects of this drug and was very apprehensive about taking it. However, I am pleased to report that my side effects are minimal. They include slightly bad taste, slight nausea, and constipation. I'll report back upon the conclusion of my treatment."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Been prescribed this for the second time. (First time Metronidazole, Lansoprazole, and amoxicillin with severe side effects, so I had to stop taking it, including nausea 97% of the time, abdominal cramps, loss of appetite). This is a 7-day treatment. Just finished day 1 of the medication. Took my first dose this morning, had no side effects for 4 hours. I went back to sleep and woke up with a STRONG metallic taste in my mouth that I couldn't flush out. Taken my second dose after dinner and now suffering from upper back pain on my left side. Not sure if it's a side effect from the medication. Also, my guts are moving a lot more as if there's wind trapped inside. These are side effects I can handle for 7 days, hoping I don't get severe nausea."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 3 out of 14, and I am so miserable. I don't want to continue it, but I have to :'( I pass really stinky gas, horrible diarrhea, nausea, feeling tired most of the time, but worst of all is the weird taste in my mouth. Oh God, when I wake up to it... Probably the reason why I feel so nauseated. Drinking a lot of water, eating candy (tiny M&Ms that come in bottles. For some reason, it helped me... weird, I know), and Listerine PocketPaks all help me with the disgusting, nasty taste so far. I hope it's worth it. I give it a five because of the side effects, but the treatment better be a 10... I sure hope it's worth it :'((("

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I had acute gastritis and went to the ER to get IV fluids. While there, they ran a test for H. pylori and it was positive. My only symptoms prior to the ER visit were frequent heartburn. I was given a prescription for Biaxin, amoxicillin, and omeprazole for 14 days. I got online and was horrified by the reviews. I delayed starting my meds. The first three days were hell on earth: nausea, fatigue, anxiety. I learned very quickly to eat with each dose. I had the metallic taste up until day 10, and then it went away. I'm wrapping up day 12, and while the treatment was tough in the beginning, it is doable. My GI is going to do an EGD in 60 days. I was also told to continue omeprazole for 2 months to heal ulcers and combat rebound reflux. Feeling better!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 12. I took the first dose in the evening, and the next morning I woke with the strong metallic taste in my mouth. That taste is there every morning, but I can easily wash it away with a drink of water. Around days 4-6, I had very loose stools from everything I ate. Since then, it has been off and on, but I have at least one loose stool every day. My H. pylori infection caused at least two ulcers, so I was experiencing a lot of nausea before, which has gradually improved with this medication-something must be working. This medication gave me really bad yeast infections (both oral and vaginal), but gargling with hydrogen peroxide a few times cleared it up. And treated the 'other' area. This medication has been tough, but still better than the H. pylori and ulcer symptoms."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "My only symptom at first was no appetite! Ate one day, the next, didn't want to eat anything. Felt normal otherwise. One week later, I had lost 10 pounds. I noticed heart palpitations. Stopped taking Celebrex for my arthritis and all NSAIDs for migraines. Went to the hospital and had a complete workup on my heart, a CT scan, X-rays, blood work, stress test... all normal. In the third week, I was able to eat some. Started back on Celebrex. Two weeks later, lost appetite again with nausea. Lost 25 pounds. Had upper GI noted small hiatal hernia. Gastroenterologist did EGD with biopsy. Stomach was irritated from NSAIDs and H. Pylori. So, I started on Amox 500 two a day, Flagyl 3x a day, Carafate, Prilosec. Feel great. Retest next week."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was very nauseous and vomited and felt like I had the flu throughout the therapy. I was warned that I might get diarrhea, but fortunately, I didn't. I got a second endoscopy done and a biopsy to see if the medicine worked, and... it was unsuccessful."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Actually, I realized just a week ago that I was having an H. pylori infection, and I started medication yesterday. Meanwhile, I'm doing well, but the side effects are hard. I get a metallic taste, I feel nausea, and when I vomit, I spit just bubbles. It also just makes me feel super tired. But hopefully, I'll get better."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "This is horrible! Don't know if I can continue. Day 3 and have been to the emergency room already. The stomach pain is a lot, nauseous, vomiting, bloated, and just tired. The gastroenterologist warned me. I would get worse before I was better. I just didn't think it would be this bad! I can barely eat, and whatever I can is like a cup of food. Hoping it gets better!"

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Have completed the 14-day Prevpac treatment. I started the first day expecting horrible side effects. That didn't happen. I had a few nausea moments that lasted only seconds. My bowel movements were totally normal. I will say I became very fatigued, but I slept well and generally felt very good during the entire 14 days. I did have a bit of depression, but I assumed it was caused by the treatment, so I just ignored that. It was 8 pills a day, plus a probiotic. That's 126 pills in two weeks! As you can see, it didn't affect my mathematical skills! Today is the 2nd day pill free and done with Prevpac. I don't remember feeling this good in a long while. The treatment appears to have worked extremely well. So, do I recommend Prevpac - that is a resounding YES. And the best of luck to you all."
