For Crohn's Disease, Maintenance "I have been a Crohn's sufferer since I was 18, I'm now 47. I have had two bowel resections, multiple blockages, and bowel symptoms that left me housebound for days at a time. I have been on Prednisone so much that I have maxed out the lifetime exposure limit, have tried Methotrexate (nausea+++), Pentasa (no change), and Remicade (serum reaction). I have been on Humira now for over 8 years, and aside from a few minor flare-ups, I have a life back. Bless all of the programs and benefit companies that have recognized that this medication has restored some people to being productive once again."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "Humira was my first medicine to try for recently diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis. I had to stop after the second injection due to nausea, lethargy, my teeth hurt, and I had three to four migraines a week. I am trying a new medicine now and hope to see results. Humira has a discount program where you only pay $5. Ask your doctor about it!"

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "Diagnosed with RA at 22 years. Started with Plaquenil, it helped for a year, then we added methotrexate. Took some time to get the dose right due to nausea. That combo helped for about 2 years. Then added Enbrel. Added Meloxicam. Prednisone as needed for the worst flare-ups. After serious ulcers, I stopped the meloxicam and prednisone as they both increase the chances of getting ulcers. Enbrel only worked for 1.5 years. Just switched to Humira, still taking Plaquenil and methotrexate. I prefer the syringes to the pens. Some relief in the first week, hoping it works for more than a year or two. Many illnesses due to the compromised immune system, and extreme fatigue, but my RA is so severe I am fully disabled without these meds. I hope I can find one that will last a little longer. With the Humira support card, I have not had to pay for this drug."

For Ankylosing Spondylitis "I’ve been on Humira for about 2 full years. The first 3-4 injections (taken biweekly, so 6-8 weeks), I wanted to stop taking it because the side effects were terrible. I’d have hot flashes, I’d be sweating but freezing, my hairs would stand up after taking the injection, I’d throw up, wake up super sweaty. But after that 2-month period, WOW IS THE DIFFERENCE AMAZING. I have AS, I also have 2 replaced hips, and a left knee that also needs replacing. I’ve been dealing with this for about 8 years, and ever since Humira has come into my life, it’s been so much better. It’s not where I wanna be, but it’s better than where I was at/headed."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "Changed my life for the better in terms of mobility, but very prone to picking up viruses, had several infections after a hand operation as a result and get nausea, upset tummy, and more tired than I used to, but I'm walking and have low pain levels, so worth it. My psoriasis is nearly gone."

For Crohn's Disease, Maintenance "I've not been on Humira for long, for about 4 months, but for me it has not helped with anything. Sure, I might get a little less pain every now and then, but I still feel like I'm being torn apart from the inside out after I eat or when I try to sleep. I'm experiencing many side effects which aren't pleasant. A rare one which I have is being on my period for 2 months, coming off it for a week or two then it coming back on! I still get stomach pain, nausea, joint pain, soreness under my ribs, dry mouth and trouble swallowing, feeling lightheaded, night sweats, trouble sleeping and much more that my consultant decided to look right past and keep me on this damn thing! I had higher hopes for this, I'm quite disappointed to say the least."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "RA and UC. Injection is awful, painful, and leaves horrific rash and bruising. On Humira, RA has not improved, in fact, it has gotten worse. Literally had to get a depo and Toradol injection today for bad inflammation and excruciating joint pain. The nausea is beyond manageable, and the headaches! Side effects are killing me. I really wish I could upload pics of my injection sites."

For Psoriasis "I have psoriasis on my wrist, elbows, and knees. It has been a month now and already seeing great results, my wrist is all clear. My elbows and knees are looking much better. The only side effect I have had is after taking the injection, I feel a little nauseous for about 2 days. Other than that, I feel great."

For Crohn's Disease "I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease about four years ago now. I was started on Humira about 5 months ago following a bowel obstruction. Although my Crohn's symptoms have greatly diminished, I have been noticing a lot of side effects, such as fatigue, hair loss, sore and swollen joints, and a lot of nausea. With the Crohn's, I was in pain, but felt like myself. On the Humira, I’m in significantly less pain, but don’t feel like myself. I guess it’s a bit of a give and take."

For Plaque Psoriasis "Been on this for about 6 months now. Can’t praise it enough. Wonder drug. Suffered from psoriasis for over 40 years. Tried every treatment over the years. This is the first thing that has completely cleared my skin. No side effects. No nausea, no headaches, etc. Just have to be careful around folks with viruses, etc., as the immune system is low. Saw improvement within 2 weeks. I hope I can stay on this forever."

For Ankylosing Spondylitis "My reaction to Humira seems to be unusual. Within 2 hours of each injection, I would sleep so soundly I was not wakened even by drilling in the next room. I generally wanted to do nothing but sleep for about 36 hours after each injection, and overall I was unnaturally sleepy while on the medication. For the first 2 days after each injection, I experienced burning joints and a flu-like feeling with more prominent pain in my lower back. The only positive symptom was experiencing less nausea than I did prior to treatment. It was a relief to stop and 'wake up.'"

For Psoriatic Arthritis "Humira took about 3-4 months to kick in. Works generally well for arthritis, but I still get flare-ups a few times a week. Unfortunately, it did little to nothing for my psoriasis. In fact, a couple of new patches popped up on my arms. I was previously on Methotrexate, which basically 'cured' 99.9% of my pain and psoriasis. I had to get off of it due to severe side effects (nausea, vertigo, mood changes, etc.). Hoping to find an alternative drug that works."

For Psoriasis "I have been on Humira for 4 years now, and I can't say enough about its ability to clear my skin and help my joint pain. I have had psoriasis since I was 5 years old, and I am 23 now. I tried creams, steroids, and light treatments for about a year in high school. Starting Humira, it was 4 months to clear skin (90%), which was amazing since I hadn't had clear skin like this since before I could remember. Negative side effects include unexplained headaches, nausea, and when I get sick, it is always very bad, meaning the flu becomes a whole week+ of severe symptoms. Something else I deal with is painful injections and pain at the injection site. (Tips) Try massaging your thigh first and numb it with ice, also, let your meds warm a little for 10 minutes. Overall, despite the cons, I really love being able to wear anything I want, and Humira is worth it for me!"

For Crohn's Disease "I had 4 infusions. The last was the 8-week dose. Next day into two weeks in bed. It has been 5 weeks since the last infusion. Crohn's disease is better but not worth any of the horrid side effects. Horrid. Not belly pain as warned, but pain like high-level labor pain day or night. The nausea is the scariest part. I was 165 lb when I began. 6 months after starting Remicade, I am now 135. It doesn't look good on me, almost 70. And I am so weak. These last 5 weeks, I have been a shell of myself. Don't plan a trip, wedding, cruise, anything. This stuff is barbaric from my viewpoint. The side effects are worse than my Crohn's disease. I will ask my GI for a pill that gets directly to the small section of inflammation I have. This med is going way overboard. It is awful. It was a chemo drug at one time."

For Ankylosing Spondylitis "I have been suffering from bilateral inflamed knees for 20+ years, on and off flares, including intermittent back and hip pain. All docs told me was that I had inflammatory arthritis and just needed to be managed with NSAIDs, exercise, diet, and weight loss. Recent episodes of higher inflammatory markers and uveitis led to the diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS). Started Humira 3 weeks ago, and knee swelling reduced quite a bit on day 4 after the 1st injection. Back and neck pain have reduced significantly too. Small prick and nausea have been the only side effects so far. The benefits outweigh the side effects by miles. Only concern is long-term use and fear of it losing efficacy."

For Plaque Psoriasis "Before starting Humira, my doctor asked if I had any nerve issues, and I explained lesions had been found on my brain in 2015 that they suspect may be MS, but I hadn't done a confirmation MRI to confirm the diagnosis. He put me on it anyway, and I trusted him. My psoriasis went away, and I was happy until about a year into taking it when I started having serious cognitive issues, balance issues that caused nausea and weight loss, etc. I've been going through testing for 6 months now, and more and more, the neurologist and other specialists I'm now having to see regularly suspect the Humira is what caused the new lesions on my brain that are causing all of my neurological issues! I've had to leave my job because I was unable to work, my family has suffered, and while it was nice to have the psoriasis gone, it wasn't worth this."

For Crohn's Disease, Maintenance "This medicine has given me my life back. I was initially very afraid because of all the potential side effects, and I tend to react severely to medicines. But my Crohn's Disease and rheumatoid arthritis progressed to the point where I couldn't function anymore. I started Humira in conjunction with Plaquenil, and it has completely turned my life around. The pain and stiffness are gone, the fatigue is significantly reduced, and I have lost weight and have the energy to exercise again. The injections are not pleasant, and the initial side effects of nausea and flu-like symptoms were pretty rough for the first couple of injections. I got worse after the first one, but I'm glad I stuck it out because I'm doing fantastic now."
