"First time on Humira was like a miracle. My arthritis was minimal, and my psoriasis too, but I felt 'finally a cure,' and it cleared everything up. After taking Humira for 2 years, I missed 1 month of shots (had it in the freezer by mistake). I thought it would be okay, however, my psoriasis came back worse than ever. I went back on Humira hoping everything will clear again, and it hasn't, so now I'm in a limbo again. Should I stay or should I stop? Has anyone experienced this, and if so, what have you done? PLEASE HELP."

"After my first and only shot, ten days later I broke out in a rash from head to toe. The interesting thing was the area where I had given my shot was red and made a rather large circle surrounding the area where I inserted the needle. I contacted my doctor and she prescribed steroids to counteract the rash. Later in the evening, I was in the most excruciating pain in my legs, this lasted all night into the early morning. I even contemplated going to the ER. In the ten days of being on Humira, I had no relief from PA. I have some plaque psoriasis, and I will say that cleared up in the ten days that I was on it, only to return shortly thereafter. On a side note, I would like to say Humira has a wonderful support staff should you have any questions."

"I have had psoriasis my whole childhood since I was 5 years old, currently 18 years old. My psoriasis was so severe that I had patches over my whole body. Last summer, I finally found a doctor in my area who got me on Humira for psoriatic arthritis. For the first 8 months, my psoriasis was completely gone, and I had no pain. But recently, for a few months now, my hands, feet, elbows, wrist, knees, and ankles stiffen up and are in excruciating pain. Some days I can't even walk, get out of bed, or just do my normal activities. I'm going to see a rheumatologist in two months, but I don't think I can make it till then because every day I'm suffering from so much joint pain. I thought Humira would help me, but instead, it's hurting me!"

"I’ve been on Humira for 2 weeks. Never had expected it to work right away, but my pain is 99% gone. Still get a few swollen joints but doesn’t hurt nearly as much as it did. I hope I’m not jinxing this, but this has been a game changer. I was on Methotrexate for about 3 months. No relief. Then Otezla, with no relief in over a year."

"Brilliant drug, been on it since 2009, and everything was great (skin and pain-free), but now my skin is getting bad. So upset, what should I do? Was told Humira only works for so many years... gutted. Would rather be in pain and have clear skin."

"I started Humira in hopes it would reduce my flare-ups. I was already on methotrexate. My actual psoriasis was non-existent for years. As soon as I started Humira, my psoriasis exploded everywhere, and flare-ups started again. Not what I was hoping."

"I have been using Humira since October of 2009. I had a lot of swelling in my joints after the injection and redness, swelling, and bruising. I have not noticed much difference. I have started not only the cartilage degeneration, but it is affecting my bone also. We are about to try Simponi. Hopefully, this will work."

"All but one finger on both hands was in excruciating pain to use. Couldn't snap, buckle, or dress, all daily activities needing fingers were impossible. The pain left after the loading dose of 80 mg. But the enthesitis in my right hip is killing me today, a couple of days ago, it was my heels. But I can use my fingers. It has been a month, and I do feel swelling beginning again in my fingers. I'm upset that it seems to have done the good it was going to do, and enthesitis and sloppy ligaments are making it hard to walk. I would like to try Stelara myself."

"Experienced allergy symptoms from this (itchy eyes, sinus pain/running nose, etc.). Also had what the doctor called an allergic reaction to the shot on my leg. Started swelling up and got bigger than the palm of my hand. Red, horrible-looking, and it hurt to touch."

"I really like this medication! It helps me with PSA and psoriasis and makes me feel like normal again. The only thing I have to complain about is about 3 days before my next injection I can feel the medication has left my body, so it doesn't last 100% the full 2 weeks it's supposed to."

"Had my first injection today. Within an hour, my fingers had reduced in swelling, and I can stand up straight for the first time in a very long time. I have had no side effects other than total exhaustion. If this is the way forward, I will truly have my life back and can look forward to the future."

"I have been on Humira for 3 years now for psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis. I have had psoriasis for 35 years and PSA for about 4 years. I started with the original formulation (40 mg) every other week. Now on citrate-free. The citrate-free seems to have less irritation at the injection site and a finer needle. My psoriasis on my skin disappeared within a few weeks except for a patch on my scalp. My joints (especially my feet) started to feel better within a few injections. My labs have shown low white blood cell counts a few times. (I do drink alcohol.) I have not had to have any treatments of any sort. I have occasionally taken meloxicam for occasional pain (I am an industrial mechanic by trade) so I sometimes overdo it on the job. One of the side effects that I have noticed is my allergies seem worse. I started sneezing more often and usually have a runny nose in the morning. Allergy meds do seem to help."

"I have been on Humira less than a year. After the second injection, that evening I ended up getting horribly sick with a sinus infection. They ran everything from flu to COVID 2x and all came back negative. Couldn’t shake a low-grade fever. Then a derecho blew through and took out the power and I lost my next dose. Couldn’t get ahold of my doctor to see what they wanted me to do about the injection, but no response, so I stopped. I felt worse but better at the same time. Started Humira back up again and now I have been experiencing numbness, tingling, and swelling from my elbow down. I can’t grip things correctly due to the loss of correct sensations. I can hardly sleep, no NSAID seems to help. Not sure what to do because the feeling started on one side over a week ago and they only upped my steroid to help for a short time. Now I’m feeling it all on both sides. Help me!"

"I have been using Humira for 2 years now with no noticeable side effects. I have found Humira to be very effective in relieving the pain I was experiencing in the past before using Humira. I still have minor swelling in my right knee and ankles, however, they have improved greatly from what they were like before taking Humira. While the bone and cartilage damage can't be reversed, I believe Humira has put a cap on my diseased parts and has halted the progression of the symptoms and hopefully is giving me more time to not have to have a knee replacement."

"I am a 66-year-old female and just took my 3rd injection of Humira. My skin is clearing steadily. I am hoping to get more joint pain relief soon. I also had a hip replacement 8 months ago and wasn't getting much exercise. I am joining a gym (a half block away from my apartment-NO EXCUSES, eh?) tomorrow and hope to do light weights along with tread/elliptical machines. Hoping the exercise will also help. Am I being impatient regarding the joint relief? Also, does anyone else have muscle cramps with Humira? Thanks and wishes for better health for all."

"I was over 30% covered in psoriasis and suffered joint pain and swelling. I could see it working on my skin within a week and was completely clear of any sores in 3 weeks. I still suffer arthritic pain, but very happy my skin is clear for the first time in over 10 years."

"These pens have serious quality control issues. I started taking it in mid-December. Now it is the end of April. Of the last 2 batches, each with 2 pens each, 3 of them completely leaked. I followed the normal procedure, which had worked the first 6 times. It is very frustrating to go through this for such an expensive medicine. My insurance covers most of it. So, my monetary loss is nominal. But, if anybody is paying multiple hundreds, this would have a serious psychological impact. How can you trust the medicine for such chronic and oppressive conditions when the device itself is not reliable? I hate Humira and its manufacturer now."

"At first, this medication was okay, it did nothing for my psoriasis but completely removed my joint pain, which was nice. However, over time, I went on to develop a double ear infection and two other infections, one of which I am still suffering from for the past 7 to 9 months. It also made my abdominal lymph nodes slightly swollen."

"Started noticing psoriasis at age 27, started with the head scalp plaque and progressed all over, including arthritis pain. Possibly due to stress. Local climate and pollution were not helpful. Tried many medications and lotions with none to minimal success. The only relief I could get is tropical sun, beach, and sea water. That relief lasted a few months. Moving to a dry climate area helped reduce arthritis pain dramatically. And after trying Humira for the first time and so far the only biological I tried, 99% was cleared with no side effects so far. On rare occasions, I would get minor numbness, and to reduce the risk, I even took it once a month - not as prescribed. That still helped with 97% clear skin. A few months not taking any medication, it appears that it has gotten worse than when I started but only topical."

"Even though Humira was not what I originally wanted to take as my first option, from my experience since I first started taking it around a month and a half ago, it has removed about 90-95% of pain associated with Psoriatic Arthritis. I would say if you are looking for a medication for solely the arthritis aspect of Psoriatic Arthritis, give Humira a go if it is your first choice, but even if it isn't, do not be discouraged because it wasn't my first choice either, but it ended up helping me much more than I had originally thought it would. Also, somehow the needle is almost painless, it hurts significantly less than something like getting your blood drawn."

"I was on Remicade for years with great results, but six months ago developed a terrible case of thrush! I stopped Remicade because I figured the candida was taking advantage of my lowered immune system. However, in September, the joint pain was so bad I felt I had to go back on medication and tried Otezla. I couldn't stay on it longer than one month because of terrible side effects, switched to Humira in October, but had to double the dose in December because it was not helping the joint pain. It is still not helping the joint pain, but I will persevere for another month. I am considering going back on Remicade again because it works like a miracle with minimum side effects - other than the immune system issues. Humira affects the immune system, too, so I might as well go back on something that actually helps me!"

"13 injections so far, my blood work looks better on some of my visits. I have allergy-like symptoms continually, which are a nuisance: runny nose, itchy eyes, etc. I am sitting here in pain, and fibromyalgia aggravates everything. I wish something would make me feel better completely."

"I took my first dose of Humira (injectable pen), and one week later I have a terrible itchy rash all over my body. I went to my doctor and am waiting on biopsy results. Since I had the rash, I got a steroid injection, which hasn’t touched the rash, and in fact, it’s spreading even more. No one can seem to tell me if this is Humira, but I’ve never had a rash like this before and nothing else in my life has changed."

"Humira has never helped reduce internal pain from psoriatic arthritis. And it is now not helping psoriasis either. It has reduced my sleep to 1 1/2 hours at a time. I have no use for this drug and will be asking for a change tomorrow. I am so tired and hurting."
