"Two days after injection, I have severe lower back pain, unable to get out of bed without assistance, couldn't bend over, very painful on a scale of 1 to 10, my pain level a 7. One week later, severe swelling of left hand fingers, very painful. Morning headaches, very uncommon for me."

"I had a Reclast infusion last Thursday and felt fine the rest of the day. I was tired and went to bed, waking up with severe nausea and bone pain, which created anxiety on top of that. The pain was intense, and I felt like a truck had been dropped on me. This is day 3 after the infusion, and the pain has receded some. The doctor said to take ibuprofen and Tylenol. That didn't do it for me. I took Tramadol to get some pain relief. My doctor said I only had to have it once every 3 years, and that will be soon enough to decide if I want to do it again. Today I'm a little unhappy over how sick I was, and reading other comments, I hope I don't have residual effects."

"I took one infusion six months ago. After taking it, I woke up in the middle of the night with nausea, and my whole body was crippled up. I got to the bathroom and took ibuprofen. Was able to get back to the bed. Better the next day. A few days later, I had trouble walking, and my toes were numb. I still suffer from lower back pain and other side effects. Never again. I won’t know for a while if it was effective. This was much worse than the flu-like symptoms I read about."

"My first infusion of Reclast was September 2018. I had very minor side effects that lasted a few days. On 8/12/2019, I had my second Dexa scan, and my bone density in my spine has increased from 0% to 4%. I fractured my left femur in January 2018, so the left leg was scanned the first time yesterday, and no surprise, I have osteoporosis in my left leg, as well as my right femur. I'm still at high risk for a fracture. I've been going to the gym and taking many supplements to increase bone density. Not as much gain as I was hoping to see. I may try something else. I'm online searching today. I wish everyone good luck! I'm 62 1/2. God bless."

"I felt like I had the flu for a couple of weeks after my Reclast infusion. But all of the aches in my bones went away. I would like to have it every year. I just hope it works."

"Reclast IV last week, and I had side effects of sore throat, chills, headache, fever, severe bone, joint, and muscle pain, in bed for the past 8 days. I originally was going to cancel the IV after reading all the side effects, but the nurse talked me into it. Never again! I can’t really rate the drug as it’s only been a week."

"My first Reclast was last January after I had a round of radiation treatment from DCIS breast cancer. Oh, I am cured, dears. I had only minor reactions... a little fluish for about 12 hours and then freedom! I feel great, and I am truly looking forward to this cancer checkup and another infusion. Gles Falls Hospital, the best for cancer recovery!"

"It has been 3 weeks today (Feb 17th) that I had my infusion, and I am still experiencing upper respiratory headache and some blurred vision, also fatigue in the afternoon. My appetite is starting to come back, but you’re right, some foods don’t taste the same. Still have the occasional pain in my legs, not as bad, hopefully getting better. I’ve started walking again, made it 2 miles today, so that’s a positive."

"I would never take this horrible drug Reclast again! I experience severe itching, for which I was prescribed Cetirizine and Pepcid. But the worst part of this was I had just spent hundreds on my teeth with a new bridge/crown. A few months after the Reclast, my bridge came loose, when they removed it, the teeth were broken off, flush with the gum, nothing to adhere it back to. Only a few months later, the crown next to it started wiggling, and it came and was also broken off at the gum. Counting the teeth that were replaced with the bridge, I have five teeth missing (the front tooth to the last tooth in the back). It could continue on with my front teeth, I'm praying it doesn't, but time will tell. I would never, ever take this horrible, dangerous drug ever again. I am looking into a class action lawsuit. I found a lawyer that accepts this type of claim, but they have so many they can't accept anymore right now."

"Ten days after getting this, I had flu-like side effects briefly, and my whole body was itchy with hives. Went to UCLA urgent care last night, I was put in a room with a burning and dying sensation, and I waited and waited. I finally ran out asking for Benadryl, and unfortunately was disapproved. I ended up walking out, thinking I could do better at home. The rash looks like Shingle hives, which I am vaccinated against. An antihistamine saved the unbearable itchiness on Sunday. Will never take this in my life and never go to urgent care."

"Follow up on initial Reclast first taken 3/2022. I was never informed of any prep to do beforehand, I suffered violent, severe side effects for 8 days immediately after the Reclast infusion. I was so ill I was unable to call 911 and get myself to a hospital. I was completely incapacitated with severe bone pain, rolling head-to-toe cramps, extreme flu-like symptoms, chills, fevers, and a blinding headache that lasted for 8 days. Now, one year after, I am still experiencing severe and extreme bone pain that many times causes me to be unable to lift my arms and has impacted my quality of life. Additionally, I suffered another compression fracture with zero exertion in June of 2022. I also require several implants and refuse to potentially destroy my jaw. Reclast side effects outweigh any possible benefits. I will be 57 years old this year, and prior to 2022 had no knowledge I had osteoporosis. I pray I have no further issues!"

"I took Reclast injections for 4 years. My doctor was unaware that Reclast could potentially cause jaw bone issues. Well, my dentist, in taking X-rays, found I had jaw osteoporosis as a result of taking Reclast injections. I took the injections because my family physician thought this would help me from going into osteoporosis. Instead, it took calcium from my jaw and put it in my other bones. Please know that while Reclast, which is a zoledronic acid, is a product of the bisphosphonate group. I am happy for those who benefited from the drug Reclast, but my experience didn't work out."

"I am 72, and my last Dexascan showed that my bone density was now osteoporosis. My choices were Reclast or Prolia. I had taken Actonel and Fosamax for a number of years and was taken off of Fosamax due to acid reflux. I hadn’t had any osteoporosis medication for the past four years. After discussing this with my doctor, I decided to try the Reclast first. I was mostly concerned with side effects reported from each drug, so I was anxious about getting the treatment. I read the reviews and followed the advice from others about drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated and taking Tylenol. The nurse who administered my medication said that she had been giving this med for years now, and very few patients had reported any problems, and most of those were muscle pain that lasted a few days. I am happy to report that I have had no side effects from the Reclast. I will find out in a year if my bone density improves, but do not be afraid of this med if you need to take it."

"I had the infusion done on the 12th of August. Two weeks later, my ankles swelled, and red and burning. On Bactrim till today. Still have a swollen right foot. Not happy, probably should have not had the shot."

"I recently turned 67 and had my second annual dose of Reclast five days ago. After the first infusion in 2022, I developed body aches and night chills for perhaps up to one week. My second infusion experience has been quite worse, although I read that it's uncommon to feel side effects after the second infusion. My symptoms began the evening of day 2, with mild head and neck achiness. By nighttime, I had severe flu-like chills and more severe aching radiating to my arms and shoulders. Day 3, aching in legs, calves, big toes, areas where I have mild arthritis in my joints, milder night chills. Day 4, yesterday, extreme aching, now upper-mid back on both sides, radiating through my breastbone, actual spasms. Excruciating to roll over at night in bed. Today is day 5, and upper back pain and spasms are only on the left side but quite painful. Still spasming. I've been taking Extra Strength Tylenol, but it is not really helping. I decided to discontinue Reclast in the future."

"Had my first Reclast Nov. 2020 at 75 years old. The rheumatologist I saw said nothing about side effects. Never told me to prep, i.e., drink lots of water, etc. He didn't tell me the name of the drug, and I didn't ask, which was my fault. Also, I didn't ask about side effects. The only reason I know it was Reclast is because the technician showed me the box. That night I woke with chills and terrible pain. I thought I had COVID. When I checked the side effects of Reclast (something I should have done before I had this poison put in my system), I saw chills and aches were side effects, along with insomnia. I suffer from recurring bouts of insomnia. Had I known that side effect alone, I wouldn't have gotten the poison. I barely slept for 3 days. The muscle aches lasted over 2 weeks. Now, months later, I can't sleep without taking Trazodone. Never, ever will I get this again."

"After reading the horrible side effects people were having, I was apprehensive about getting the infusion. I was fine after mine. I felt tired, but that’s nothing new. I’m 70 and work full time and stand 6-8 hrs a day, 40 hrs a week. I’ve been fine, and so happy I got the infusion. I am so sorry for people who had horrible side effects. It’s horrible you are suffering."

"I had my first infusion in November 2018 and had no side effects whatsoever. I'm going for another infusion this year and having a bone density test done in the near future. Hopefully, my numbers will improve. I only rated it a 7 for now since I'm not sure of the effectiveness until I have my density test done."

"Had my first Reclast infusion in June 2019. Now am testing positive for RA, Sjögren's, and scleroderma! Anyone else have these tests come back positive? Wondering if they are drug-induced?"

"I had my 2nd Reclast infusion a week ago. Drank plenty of water before and after. Took precautionary acetaminophen for two days after. No side effects whatsoever. There was an improvement in bone density after 1st time (3 years ago)."

"I tried oral biphosphonate and experienced severe bone pain, nausea, and reflux. My doctor suggested Reclast. I had the infusion and within 6 hours experienced nausea and tiredness. I had taken the recommended Tylenol before and after. I went to bed and began to experience waves of severe rib pain from my back to front and vomiting. It was many times worse than childbirth. Luckily, I had an opiate pain reliever. That helped a lot. The feeling bad lasted for about 5 days, but the reflux stayed. Never again will I take this drug!!"

"On 12/6/22, I received my first (and only) Zoledronic Acid Injection (Reclast) to prevent osteoporosis from coming back (currently osteopenia) after taking Prolia shots for 2 1/2 years. I don't know whether or not the Reclast injection worked to prevent osteoporosis yet because I'm not scheduled for a bone density test until June. What I do know is that I have been in chronic pain every day since that day! There was literally ZERO warning from my rheumatologist about potential side effects or things that it could possibly trigger. And I foolishly did not research it myself. Within 6 days of the injection, I was limping and in intense pain. They had me come in the next day. Long story short, it is their belief that the Reclast triggered Psoriatic Arthritis that was already in my body (never had it before, but I did have mild psoriasis). I've had 2 BAD flares since the original flare, been in PT, on multiple medicines. In pain every day of my life. NEVER AGAIN will I have Reclast!"
