For Crohn's Disease "I love this drug! It is the 4th one I have had to be on. I used Entyvio for 7 years, and it was fantastic till it stopped working at all. I then tried Humira, and that did not work, I had a reaction. I then tried Remicade, and that did not work! I had been in a Crohn's flare for 8 months and was ready to just die. I was then placed on Stelara, and the magic worked after about 6 months. I was doing my own injections at home, which was great! I receive the injection every 58 days, and that's the downfall! Medication was not active the last 2 to 3 weeks before the next dose. I have been fighting my insurance for the past 1.5 years to receive it every 4 weeks, not 8 weeks. Due to the cost of $34,000.00, they keep fighting me, and I'm losing weight too fast. Why does medication have to cost this much?"

For Psoriatic Arthritis "Have had psoriatic arthritis for over a decade, sometime in my early 40s. Have used many drugs: Enbrel, Humira, Symphony, Cosentyx, and now Stelara. May have used one other one but can't recall its name. Mixed methotrexate with Enbrel in the beginning, which worked well, but have liver count issues, so didn't want to take methotrexate. For me, Enbrel worked okay, Humira worked great, Symphony didn't work at all, and Cosentyx didn't work on the psoriasis side very well. Most of the drugs kept the arthritis at bay to an extent. I had an allergic reaction to Humira twice, so had to quit it. Stelara seems to work well so far after not quite a year. Psoriasis has improved pretty well in several areas, although now I have more dry skin around my eyes and forehead, which is new to me. Drugs react differently for everyone, so keep on trying them."

For Psoriasis "I've had psoriasis since I was 6, and I'm 61 now. My Dr. has given the go-ahead for me to start Stelara, and it's taken me a while to get brave enough to go for the new drug. I've had severe reactions to other drugs in the past, and it scares me that I'll have a bad reaction to this one too, and this has made me stall. However, the psoriasis has taken a major flare-up (as it does at times) over the last few weeks, so I've decided to brave it and go for it. Hopefully, I'll get my 1st shot on Monday next. Just want to say thank you to all who wrote reviews here. It really makes me more confident about taking the drug. I am so excited that I may finally get relief from this awful disease."

For Psoriasis "I received my second Stelara injection about one month ago and phased out the cyclosporine one week ago. The skin is incredibly clear of spots (since 25 years it has not been this good), but as a change, an almost intolerable itching started. a) Would anyone have experience how to calm down the itching? Taking sodium bicarbonate with water seems to help a bit, but I am still scratching in my sleep. I have allergies and thought that maybe antihistamine could work. Thanks in advance for any hints you may have!"
