For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "After a heart attack and stent placement, I've taken this for about six weeks. Side effects seem to be extreme shortness of breath. Between refills, I ran out and went two days without it. Those were the only two days since that I've felt like myself and had any energy or strength, the difference was like night and day."

For Heart Attack "Had a heart attack 3 weeks ago and feel like I am going crazy! I am constantly short of breath, and my anxiety levels are off the charts. I can barely sleep, and if I do doze off, I jerk awake feeling like I am being choked. My doctor said he will switch me to Plavix next month. This medication should be reviewed again, too dangerous!"

For Prevention of Atherothrombotic Events "I have been on Brilinta for 30 days. I am also an asthmatic, so breathing is always a problem. This medication does not make it any easier. I remember waking up because it felt like someone was covering my mouth and nose. I could not catch my breath. I am always tired, body aches, lightheaded. Yes, I do bleed heavily when it is a small cut. I bruise very easily. Every day I wake up, I have a new purple, red, black, and green bruise. As time goes on, the breathing is not as bad. The bruising is still horrible. I pray one day soon I will be off this medication."

For Acute Coronary Syndrome "Have only been on Brilinta for 3 days after 2 stents put in because of blockages, but was concerned enough to start looking for reviews. I have pains over my body, diarrhea, and have had some shortness of breath. I will be asking my doctor when I go to see him this week as advised after my procedure."

For Acute Coronary Syndrome "Started Brilinta on Nov 6, 2016, after a heart attack and stent. Three days later, I had a major anxiety attack because I could not breathe. The shortness of breath got better after one month. I am constantly tired and frequently napping. The worst side effect has been four months of constant gout. I am now at the maximum dose of allopurinol to control my gout. I cannot wait to change over to Plavix, even though it will mean frequent blood testing."

For Myocardial Infarction, Prophylaxis "I had a stent put in my 90% blocked left lower descending artery. I was given Brilinta in the hospital but was also on oxygen. When I went home and took my first dose upon arrival, it was a nightmare. I couldn’t seem to catch my breath. I panicked more than I ever have in my entire life. I sat up all night until it began to wear off. I shook like a leaf. I never want to feel like that again. My doctor put me on Prasugrel just once a day. I am so much better and so relieved!"

For Heart Attack "I've been on Brilinta since December 27, 2018. It seems as though my breathing is getting worse by the day. Feel like I could just stop and not inhale, 39-year smoker. Now stopped on that date after heart attack and stent. What to do? Says I need to be on it for a year."

"I have been on Brilinta since 9/3/24 for treatment after stenting in a vein in my brain from intracranial hypertension. I am of the 10% that Plavix doesn’t work for. I have noticed some side effects of shortness of breath, increased vertigo, and the worst part so far, a period that hasn’t stopped for 4 months."

For Acute Coronary Syndrome "Had a heart attack in Nov 2016, was put on Brilinta twice a day. I too have experienced fatigue, bruising, blurred vision, and shortness of breath. It takes me a long time to get started in the morning, then about 3:00 pm... I'm ready to nap but can't because I work."

For Myocardial Infarction, Prophylaxis "Took this 3 days post-LAD stent while on chronic pain management for spinal cord damage and 11 fusions. This was a nightmare of severe shortness of breath, bodily waves of feeling of drowning in pain, pounding, racing heart, exhaustion, elevated blood pressure, dizziness, nausea! Will never take this again, ever!!!"

For Coronary Artery Disease "I had breathing problems on Brilinta and could not take it. Anyone that takes this medication needs to be monitored, especially if you have elderly parents on this medication. I would have died if I hadn't stopped taking it on my own."

For Prevention of Atherothrombotic Events "After having a stent placed, I was put on 90 mg of Brilinta twice daily. On the second day of taking, my headaches started along with the shortness of breath, also nausea and back pain on the third day. This continued, and on the fifth day, I had to be admitted back into the hospital with what I thought to be a heart attack. While in the hospital, I experienced quite a bit of blood in my urine. It was decided to take me off of Brilinta and start me on Plavix. I'm on my second day of Plavix and already doing much better!"

For Heart Attack "After 3 months on a statin with many side effects attributed to the statin, I began experiencing increasing shortness of breath. It became so difficult to breathe, and it caused irregular heart rhythms. 3 times to emergency where when I said I thought it was a side effect, I was told it was not a known side effect. When the cardiologist finally called, he said, 'Brilinta is known to cause shortness of breath, we will switch you over to Plavix.' This drug is causing some side effects, and hopefully, I can live with them until I am no longer in need, about another 6 months."

For Coronary Artery Disease "I had a stent on 6/19/24 - using Brilinta since then. Acute shortness of breath during the first week of use; less acute shortness of breath in the following weeks. After one month, almost normal. It also provokes a lot of abdominal gas. I have gastritis; it seems to be even good for that."

For Coronary Artery Disease "In my opinion, this is an extremely dangerous drug with only a 1% benefit over aspirin alone. By Brilinta's own admission, it has double the chance of a bleed event leading to mortality. According to AstraZeneca, the manufacturer of Brilinta, I cannot have my tequila or a glass of wine with family dinners. I cannot take turmeric or any NSAID for relief of sciatic pain. Aspirin, ibuprofen (such as Nurofen), naproxen (such as Naprosyn), diclofenac (such as Voltaren), celecoxib (such as Celebrex). I am now short of breath, depressed because I cannot be active and no longer relish living."

For Prevention of Atherothrombotic Events "I had 1 stent placed in March 2017. Put on Brilinta 90 mg twice a day with baby aspirin in the morning. Shortness of breath started a week and a half into cardio rehab. Was told as long as I could handle the shortness of breath, it was more important to continue taking the drug. I called the cardiologist about an inhaler. This time I am told that is for my primary to deal with. I am tired always, nap almost daily, and now am anemic. The anemia adds to the shortness of breath and fatigue. I have also developed PICA. All I want to eat are dry rolled oats. I assume for the starch because it sure isn't for the taste. I can't wait for my one year to be over. The upper and lower GI I now have coming up are not what I planned on."

For Heart Attack "After three coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG) and a stent, I was on Brilinta for 2 months. I had shortness of breath that got worse and worse to the point that I was not functional. I couldn't breathe the moment it was hot outside. This would last hours. This was the worst of the 4 blood thinners that I have been switched to. All the doctors think this one has the best results, so if you can handle it, try to stay on."

For Heart Attack "After a month of taking Brilinta, I was so short of breath that even bending over caused me to huff and puff. I thought I had heart failure and went to the ER. This is a very costly medication with many side effects, the shortness of breath being common! I should have been alerted about that common problem when the drug was prescribed! I paid $340 for another month's supply and now am stuck with the unopened container. Plavix appears to have many fewer side effects and is cheap compared to this new drug. My Rx has been changed to Plavix."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I am now 73 years young. I had 6 stents in 2019 and have been on Brilinta ever since. These 2 points aren’t in many or any of the comments. Yes, I have shortness of breath, yes, I bleed easily, and yes, I bruise easily. I am able to stay quite active. Of course, I don’t like taking any prescriptions (because I no longer trust pharmaceuticals, since Covid), but so far all I can say is it seems to be working. I don’t know if an alternative would be any different or if I could/should quit this drug."

For Coronary Artery Disease "I was given a preload of Brilinta during stent placement. Awoke from the procedure struggling to breathe, feeling very scared. My fight or flight was triggered, and I wanted to remain standing despite nurses asking me to lay down and remain calm. A few hours after I was released, the paramedics were taking me back to the ER. It has been four months after taking Brilinta for one week, and I still can't breathe normally."

For Heart Attack "I had a widowmaker heart attack with a 100 percent blockage. I had a stent placed, and I was put on Brilinta and Asa. I have been on them for over a year, and I have anxiety about stopping the Brilinta. I have shortness of breath with exertion, but not at rest, so I do not really think it's from the Brilinta. I believe it has treated me well, and I am thankful for it."

For Acute Coronary Syndrome "I have 27 stents. Recently, I was put on Brilinta and feel like I could sleep all day. I have shortness of breath. I have heartburn with this terribly. I thought it was my imagination until I read the reviews, and wow, I am not crazy after all. I just hope the side effects get better as I work a job, and the fatigue is awful. I was on Plavix, but the blockages kept coming. I like Plavix better, but hopefully the side effects will lighten up."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "This is a terrible medication in my opinion, with ramifications that go well beyond lack of energy, breathing problems, and dietary restrictions. The company even advises users not to shave with a blade. That should tell you enough. There are also a multitude of medications for which Brilinta is contraindicated. If you suffer from sciatic pain, the only medication you can use is OxyCodone or a similar narcotic with terrible chances of becoming addicted. Prescribing doctors need to do much more research prior to writing a script for this med. Even many pharmacologists warn about Brilinta."

For Heart Attack "I had terrible side effects from this drug, Brilinta. Aside from feeling exhausted, I was unable to breathe and was gasping for breath. I felt sluggish and tired all of the time. I could not take a deep breath. It felt like asthma. After a month of being switched to prasugrel (Effient), I felt much better and more normal."
