Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I started taking Armour Thyroid about 6 years ago. This medication has allowed me to feel 'normal' again. I have much more energy and have lost weight. I no longer feel weighed down or tired. I have the energy to do things and feel great."

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Was on Armour for 10 yrs with good results, good consistent labs. Last year, the pharmacy refilled with NP Thyroid on and off, claiming availability issues, then insurance denial. So, in November 2019, decided to just keep the script NP. Labs last year not as good. In January 2020, had a horrible episode of nausea, dizziness, increased BP, irregular pulse, and flu-like symptoms. Took a few days to realize intensity increased a couple hours after dose. Stopped for a few days, then took a partial dose for a month, noted puffy face, so went back to full dose. This past week, symptoms recurred along with a very bloated, gassy stomach, constant belching, scary high BP, palpitations, and dizziness. Ended up in the doctor's office. EKG showed PACs. My weight also went up 10 lbs past year. Just picked up Armour, paid out of pocket, hoping all these symptoms disappear. See many here had similar experiences."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I've been on thyroid medication for 49 years. I spent my first 38 years on Synthroid and various T4 formulas. I could not stand the up and down of Synthroid, it was never steady. Every time I went to the doctor, it was adjusted. It could not regulate me, and most doctors just played with raising and lowering the mg levels. Finally, a person I knew told me I should see her doctor. I did, and that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with Armour Thyroid. I've never felt better, my bad symptoms went away, and I feel almost human. It holds me steady for longer periods. Sometimes the patient knows best, regardless of what the blood tests say. Armour contains unknown ingredients that can't be isolated into a synthetic pill form. Armour is natural and the best."

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was put on this after Nature Throid was recalled. I ended up with atrial fibrillation. I stopped the drug. A cardiologist told me to restart it. I then had hyperthyroid symptoms after four days when I am actually hypothyroid. This drug needs to be recalled. Nature Throid never caused me any problems. It just did its job."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Have taken Armour for decades, all with good results. Medicare doesn't cover it, and I bought 1 year worth only to find something changed. My taste, smell have been affected, and the smell continues down into both kinds of body elimination. Have spoken with pharmacists who said the formula hasn't changed. SOMETHING changed and NOT for the better. I am now stuck with HUNDREDS of dollars of junk! Not happy. Can't take synthetic stuff."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I’ve been on Armour Thyroid 60 mg for about a year, have gained 15 pounds, and am very tired now. July 2019, got a new batch, and now I am feeling overmedicated. Has Armour Thyroid changed once again?"

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Diagnosed with hypothyroidism over ten years ago with body aches, insomnia, brain fog, weight gain, etc. On Armour all my symptoms went away except for weight gain despite heavy exercise and dieting. I keep up my regimen but I'm desperate to lose the weight. I don't understand why the Armour has helped everything but the weight gain."

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Have been on thyroid meds for years and have taken many brands due to insurance changes and product unavailability. Some were better than others for sure. New insurance would not cover the Armour that worked best for me, so they substituted NP Thyroid last November. Since then, life has been bad. The pill does smell like cat pee! I have had every symptom listed above and have spent hundreds of dollars bouncing from specialist to specialist. I have gone from being a very, very healthy person to someone who can barely function and can't work. I have gained 8 lbs and hardly eat due to stomach issues. Found out today that this med has been recalled several times in the last few months. This manufacturer needs to STOP making this medication altogether! They can't get it right! BEWARE!"

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I’ve been on Acella thyroid medication for several years, and it really helped me. I had it refilled approximately a week ago. I always take this medication sublingually. However, the first dose tasted so bad that I immediately spit it out and knew something was really wrong. Went online and saw all the posts from others suffering with the same issues. Since I was so afraid my hypothyroid symptoms would return, I forced myself to keep taking it. However, it got to the point where I was so sick that I couldn’t get out of bed. Today, I decided that I couldn’t tolerate another dose and would speak with my doctor next week. It’s amazing how much better I feel! I don’t feel nauseous and have enough energy to at least get out of bed and function. I don’t know what’s going on with this company, but this medication felt like it was literally poisoning me!"

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Last week, my pharmacy gave me NP Thyroid instead of regularly prescribed Armour Thyroid. At first, I noticed the strong smell and taste of mildew/cat wee. I checked the label on my prescription and noticed it wasn’t Armour. A week into taking this, I noticed my body aching and heart palpitations. Then my heart started pounding, and I got all jittery. My hands and knees were shaking, and I felt weak with a headache and brain fog. I called my pharmacist, and after talking to them, they exchanged that medication for my regular Armour. After looking into this medication, I found out it has been recalled multiple times, and my symptoms were identical to other multiple people's reviews. Please do not take this medicine. It is terrible."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Over 13 years, I was on different synthetic thyroid medicines. About 5 years ago, I started having problems with diarrhea, constipation, and fatigue. Then two years ago, horrible aches and pains, very low temperature. I felt I was dying. I pointed out to my doctor abnormal T3s and T4s, which he never noticed. After taking every diagnostic test and even CT scans, I was finally prescribed Armour Thyroid. I have my life back again. Unbelievable."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Naturopath put me on AT in August 2014. My TSH was 4.0, but she said I would feel better if we could get it under 2.0. I gained 32 pounds before Christmas. I thought it was stress because I had gone back to work full-time in August after our youngest started college. I went into menopause and had a period every other month for 4 months, and my cycle stopped in February 2015. I also attributed the weight gain to this. I also got insomnia, night sweats, and severe brain fog, which I also attributed to the menopause. (age 46) I began having acid reflux/heartburn, trying PPIs and eating TUMS. My AT prescription ran out over Christmas 2016, so I took 1 every other day to get by and instantly lost 5 lbs. My heartburn and PM sweats stopped. My period came back! I'm still losing weight, and the fog is gone."

Nature-Throid (thyroid desiccated) "Nature-Throid was a disaster for me. I was trying to switch from Armour Thyroid (since it was getting pricey), and had been taking NT for only about a week. The dosage differences were a little tricky, but from the major crash I experienced, you'd think I was taking a placebo. It was as if my body rejected it outright. Much as I hate having to take a more expensive medicine, my doctor advised that I go back to Armour, at least for now."

WP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "This worked absolutely AMAZING until the supposed “shortage.” I was losing weight, my mood was good, skin clearing up, great energy levels, and then out of nowhere, the drug is gone. I called RLC Labs (when they were still responding to patients) and was assured they were on backorder and were working hard to fill the orders. When it started coming back on the market, I was thrilled, but after the first dose, I knew something was seriously wrong. This drug is a reformulation, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The best way to describe it is that I felt like I was being poisoned (not surprising given that the FDA took over RLC Labs and the manufacturing is occurring in China). It’s a real shame when money and profits come before patient care and people's lives. I will never use a product from RLC Labs again, and they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves (probably why you can’t speak with a representative when you try to call and question the company regarding the product.)"

WP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I lost over 60 lbs when WP Thyroid was working before the remanufactured product. My thyroid was like it used to be before my thyroid problems started. But then the labs lied. And changed the formula. And it is garbage. Don’t use WP Thyroid. It’s like my thyroid is worse now. I had to triple the dose and it still isn’t enough. Throw away your new WP. I would like to take legal action against the manufacturer. We have been lied to and now we have physical harm on top of it."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Started on Armour decades ago, stayed with it then could not get it and had to take Synthroid. My pharmacist informed me last year Armour was back on the market and switched to it, 1 grain or 60 mg. What an improvement I noticed. Yes, there is a difference."

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "After taking NP Thyroid for five years and doing well on it, I was expecting the same when I picked up my refill just days ago. After the first dose yesterday morning, I learned something had changed drastically. Within two hours, I had nausea and a terrible headache. Both lasted long into the evening. I had some older NP Thyroid pills left and took those this morning and searched on the web for any others that might have had a similar experience. It didn't take long to find others who have had the same experience. Seeing as though Medicare, in their 'infinite wisdom,' has decided not to pay for any medication with T3 in it for the elderly, the cost involved with this refill was substantial. Acella says even though they have changed their supplier to one in Europe, the ratio of T4 and T3 is the same. So we, the patients, are the guinea pigs!"

WP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was taking the old batch of WP Thyroid, and it worked beautifully for years! Switched to the new batch, you know how they have since started reproducing it. Now, I'm having severe side effects from the new WP Thyroid: severe joint pain, stiffness, fogginess, dizziness, chest pain, rapid heartbeat, fatigue, and night sweating. I tried contacting RLC and no response. I think they are not responding because they know there is a problem. There is definitely a change in the new formulation... and terrible side effects. BEWARE!!"

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was on Nature-Throid for the past, oh geez, 2016? 2017? I am hypothyroid/premenopause. I am 37 years old. (I have Lyme's also (on natural stuff for that.) The pharmacist has told me that Nature-Throid 16.25 mg is on backorder/going to be not making it anymore (was on 32.50 mg). So, whenever I called them in Nov-Dec 2018? To get a refill, they told me it is backordered/discontinued (which stinks because I lost weight). Now started the Armour Thyroid (1/18/19). I feel like I gained weight. (I do workout and eat 97% of the time healthy.) Today is 1/29/19, I just feel fat. Just the jeans that used to be loose are now tight. My hair is already thin, so idk about that if it got any more thinner/falling out. I thought I was noticing/felt like itchiness on my stomach. Thirsty a lot. So, idk if it's too early to tell or not. I'll just need to keep track of symptoms. I'll give it a month and see any difference/side effects. Just wish they would have kept Nature-Throid."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was on Levo meds and I felt like I was overloaded with hormones. I would have outbursts of anger and sadness. Gained 10 lbs in 6 months, insomnia, etc. These behaviors were abnormal for me. I switched to Armour meds and in one month I lost 3 lbs, sleep well, and have not had any mood swings."

Swelling of the throat, losing my voice, weight gain, etc. Now, because of 2 weeks on Armour, I am. I am so optimistic, and I feel 20 years younger."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I had a total thyroidectomy 13 years ago. I was put on Synthroid, or generic versions. I only noticed some paranoia/anxiousness with those over the years. About a year ago, I started feeling like I was taking the meds for nothing, as I was tired, foggy, etc. I went to see a new doctor who prescribed Armour Thyroid and suggested '2 grains,' which is two pills. I took one to start, and it made me totally anxious. I started taking half and made myself stick with it for a week. I had been having headaches to begin with. I decided to up to one pill and have done that for about 5 days. I am totally foggy, my body aches, I’m extremely anxious. I’m not taking this anymore. I feel disconnected, like I’m not even myself. I hope to go back to my previous doctor and start back on Synthroid. I’m happy Armour helps so many people, but unfortunately, I am not one of them. ;("

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Has anyone encountered problems with their eyes after being on Armour Thyroid? It is curious to me that I feel better than I have in a long time, however, things keep happening to my eyes. First, a detached retina, cataracts, and now macular problems. Never had eye problems before, and my vision stayed the same as when I was 12 years old until last year when I started Armour. Any connection?"

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Armour is sadly not working well for me! Someone needs to investigate. My labs this month (July 2021) have officially tanked. On a fairly decent dose (210 mgs) plus I still have my own thyroid. Yet my free T4 is very low at 0.90, my reverse T3 has skyrocketed to 17.5, which has never happened before, at least not since all this time I’ve been on NDTs (2014 onward). Free T3 on the lower part of the range/still not optimal at 3.0, and I am very symptomatic; hands dry, bleeding, and cracking open, 50 lb weight gain in the last year, hair falling like crazy, so hard to get up in the mornings and function, mood swings/depression/anxiety, hard to go to sleep at a decent time, which doesn’t make sense considering I’m exhausted/dozing off all day (unless this med has thrown me into some serious adrenal fatigue). That time of the month (and the leading up to it) has become a painful, emotional nightmare. Need Nature-Throid, WP, and NP thyroid to be back and consistent the way they were before :-("
