For Acne "So I started using this medication due to hormonal acne post-BC. I have tried to cure it naturally with supplements, healthy meals, professional peels, but nothing worked. After long debating and my acne worsening, my derm convinced me to go on medication. I decided to take spironolactone instead of Accutane. I have been on this medication since December 1st, started with 50 mg a day, which was good, my face was clearing up. Then I was told to increase to 100 mg a day after 2 weeks, symptoms were more noticeable, and I felt tired all day. After 2 months of still no noticeable improvement, I was directed to increase to 150 mg, which made me feel even more tired. Taking it at night helped a little at this point, but then I realized at month 2 I started my period earlier than usual, it turns out I’ve been spotting for a month now. My acne has drastically worsened like never before. I have lost hope and will be going on BC again and Accutane. Everyone’s body is different, but this was my experience."

For Acne "This is my second day on Spiro. I took one 25 mg pill last night and the same dose the night before that...and I feel so drugged. Although I have taken only a small dose for two days (both before bed), I feel extremely tired, groggy, weak, lightheaded, and nauseous. I also have had to pee loads, and I unexpectedly got my period 24 hours after taking the first pill. I really want to continue taking it because nothing else has worked for me, so I am really wondering whether these side effects subside. So far, these side effects are not worth having amazing skin."

For Primary Hyperaldosteronism "I am a 71 y/o female with hard-to-control high blood pressure. My doctor ran some tests and diagnosed high aldosterone and put me on 25 mg of spironolactone. I was doing OK on it, I could complete my workouts and get stuff done, and I had an appetite. I have a new doctor, and she upped my spironolactone to 50 mg. By the third day, I am experiencing muscle weakness and no energy, I could not work out, heart palpitations, heightened anxiety, runny stools, and more cramping in feet and hands. I asked Dr. Google, and it sounds like my electrolytes are out of whack. So far, my blood pressure is still high. I drank water with a pinch of rock sea salt in it, and I feel a little better for the time being until after I get my electrolyte panel done. I will discuss this with the doctor, as she indicated there are a few other drugs I could."

For Acne "Started spironolactone about 2 weeks ago for acne, first week 1 a day 100g, now 2 a day. Definitely feeling dull and very tired. Skin is getting worse: red bumps with no whitehead and very dry and red patches on my neck and right side of my forehead on my temple so far. I do suffer from eczema, just haven’t had any on my neck in years. My Dr. said it would be 3 months before I would see any results, really hoping this helps my skin. Just not sure I can deal with the getting worse part."

For Acne "My experience with this drug was extremely negative. I gained about 30 pounds, became anxious and depressed, was extremely tired and sluggish, and ate at least 4 meals/day. I became a very sad and narrow-minded person and strayed from my parents and friends. It didn't help my acne at all, so please look for any other alternative before taking this. It's not worth it, and there are so many better alternatives to this."

For High Blood Pressure "Taking 12.5 mg for heart failure and blood pressure. As an add-on to many others. Very low blood pressure 90/45. Heart rate 50. Do not urinate all day and don't feel like urinating. No energy."

For Acne "Today is my Day 15 taking this medicine. I just want to leave a record here for further reference. Thanks to those who left the positive comments here who support me in continuing to take this medicine. Since I started taking the medicine, the drugs have caused me more frequent urination than before. My face now has new small pimples all over, even on my rare forehead and chin, one or two behind. I also have lethargy, emotional pessimism, etc. Wait. My face has been plagued by acne for four years, and I have been troubled by the fact that it did not break out before. Most of my problems are on my cheeks, all of which are closed comedones. I will continue to take it because this is my last hope. I hope to keep a progress report on how it goes."
