Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "This drug is absolutely awful. I had horrible nausea from the beginning, along with vomiting and headaches 5 out of 7 days a week. I kept being told side effects would get better, but they just got worse. This is my 5th and final month on it. I literally don't remember the last time I was able to eat. 6 of the last 10 days, I wasn't even able to keep liquids down and became severely dehydrated. I had the absolute worst headache of my life. I've lost 12 pounds in 9 days, and not one pound of weight loss is worth it. I wake up in the morning wishing I'd just die instead of having to feel as awful as my body does every day. I took my last dose 10 days ago, so I'm praying this poison gets out of my body ASAP. This stuff is toxic."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I took Ozempic last October, but I had to come off it - I was so ill. I'm type 2 diabetic and Hashimoto's thyroiditis autoimmune disease. I'm 57 years old and post-menopause. The doctor decided I should try again, I started 5 weeks ago and had my 5th injection. I have been sick since I restarted. I have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, brain fog, anxiety, burning in my stomach, headaches, and I'm so tired and weak. I tried to stick with it, I'm on the 3rd day since my 5th injection. I am so ill, I still have all the above symptoms, but worse. My kidneys are sore and my lungs. I have pain in my stomach and back. I feel like my body is poisoned, and I have to wait for 5 weeks for it to clear out of my system. I will never take this again."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "A little background: I am 6'2", 24 years old, and the most I ever weighed was 316 lbs. Always used to wear the baggiest clothes and was not confident in myself. The crazy thing is that it was a “trim” 316 lbs (if that makes sense), like, I play hockey and get around just fine - I was just overweight. In college, I managed to get down to 280 from being poor and walking everywhere. But now I am in the real world working, and about 4 months ago, when I began Ozempic, I was back up to 310 lbs. My mom started it, she liked it, she was down about 10 lbs and told me I should try it. I started at .25 for about 6 weeks. I had not lost much weight in the beginning and had some nausea and pretty decent headaches, but that goes away after about a week or so. I am now taking the 1.7 Wegovy, and I am now down to 265. I feel great, look great, and I look forward to taking the 2.4."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "OMG ... it’s not me. Dr. started me at .5 of Ozempic, first day after injection pretty much okay, then came nausea, stomach ache, headaches, then just dulled, gassy (didn’t know the burps were part of it but that increased), diarrhea, feeling beyond blah. I went to work and struggled through the day for 4 days like this. The first week wasn’t sure if it was the shot or some food, so I tried the Ozempic again. The second week was a little better, so I decided I’ll try the smaller dose. Today is day 2, but this morn, there’s the nausea, stomach ache, a little bit of headache, but lesser amounts. Despite the thought of weight loss, might be heading back to Januvia (Farxiga got the yeast infection, but it was cheap, $15 for 90 with insurance)."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I did not like the side effects that I experienced while taking Ozempic. The first day I was on Ozempic, I had severe vomiting. Although I did not continue to vomit, I did feel nauseated and not well the 4 months while on Ozempic. I also started experiencing severe headaches, and my sinuses became very dry and hurt. I then lost my sense of taste and smell. I stopped taking it right away. It has been more than two years since I last took Ozempic and still cannot taste or smell. I would not recommend this drug to anyone."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic injections 3 weeks ago (by the way, I live in the UK). I also take Metformin and Foxigra. I had a slight headache and nausea, which I seem to get a few days after the injection. I don't find I get any appetite decrease that much, and I've put on weight this week. But sticking with it, so we shall see."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Ozempic for 10 weeks for both weight loss, which I have struggled with for years, and diabetes. I experienced nausea, constipation, slight dizziness, and headaches, but nothing that I couldn't manage, and only for 1 or 2 weeks of each increased dose. Went from 0.25 to 0.5, and now I'm on week 2 of the highest dose, 1.0, and currently have no side effects. I have also lost 19 lb so far, the doctor advised a 1200-calorie diet, and I couldn't be happier. My blood levels have come down from high 7's to 6.4, and the doctor is considering taking me off my usual diabetic medication, Empagliflozin. Some folks are saying, 'don't take it,' but just because their body didn't take to it doesn't mean you won't! And you could be missing out on what I would say is a game-changing medicine. I would say give it a go. And I wouldn't give up now for anything. My health has significantly improved. (Free to diabetics in the UK)."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I haven't noticed much weight loss with this medication. I have experienced extreme nausea to almost vomiting. I have also suffered from daily headaches from this medication. I have also noticed my blood pressure fluctuates higher than my normal high. I am only on the 1.0 mg dosage right now, and my doctor will increase it next week. I do have to say the pens are very easy to use, and the needle injections don't hurt."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic at the lowest dose for 4 weeks. The first week was brutal, with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and headache, however, I injected the second week in my thigh and the side effects waned. It appears to be lowering and leveling my A1C. I'm nervous about increasing my dose next week. I can manage a week of discomfort as long as it is short-term. My body does seem to be getting used to it. I'm willing to work with it as long-term benefits for me outweigh the short-term discomfort. I may change my mind as time goes on, as these horror stories have me concerned. So strange that there is such a wide range of patient experiences...both good and bad."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor prescribed it as a miracle drug, bought a 0.25 mg kit. My doctor gave me instructions, but I found better instructions on YouTube, so the next day I was ready with all that info. I cooked a light soup, no carbs, no fat, etc. I drank water, washed my hands, cleaned my belly, and did the shot. All was okay. After a few hours, abdominal pain, my eyes started to itch, then blurry vision. I went crazy, wondering what happened to me, went to bed, then the nausea came with a headache. The next days I was sick and did not go away, so I phoned my doctor. She said it's all in my mind and I will get used to it. Now I am afraid of the second injection, is it worth it? Why pay for an expensive drug to get sick? The only positive was that it lowered my morning blood sugar from 100-110 to 88. I take 1000 mg of metformin twice a day. For others, do not use it for the first time and go to work, it's good to do it when you do not have work the next day."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Newly diagnosed with type 2, started with .25 for 5 weeks. Lots of waves of nausea, headaches, and overall discomfort. Week 5 did get better, the side effects lasted just a day or two after injection. .5 has been a 2-week nightmare. Extremely painful headaches, nausea, and now constipation. I am hoping there's a different med I can try that isn't so hard."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Three days ago, I took my third injection of 0.25 mg. I am so, so sick. I have been sick with nausea and burping since I took the first injection, but this week is the worst. Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches. Today was so intensely bad I almost went to the ER. I’m trying to keep going as I desperately want to lose weight. I’m down 10 lbs in 17 days, but I’m so sick I can’t even eat healthy foods. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do the next injection, this has been so horrible. My doctor also prescribed Zofran for the nausea, but it’s not helping. Will the side effects ever stop, or should I just give up?"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I unfortunately had a very severe reaction to Ozempic. I usually do suffer side effects from most medications, but thought I would give it a try. The first two weeks were headache, general stomach ache, and constipation lasting 2 days after each injection. Weeks 3 and 4 got worse. Stronger reactions, lasting longer. Week 5, I started the double dose, and I was pretty ill for 2 days. Week 6 and 7 was rough, but I thought I could ride it out. Week 8 had me in emergency twice for diarrhea, vomiting, headache, and major dehydration. I was unable to eat or drink anything. I had to get rehydrated and be given anti-nausea meds on both occasions. I guess my body slowed the release of food so much I had a massive buildup to the point even a sip of water made me extremely nauseous. Ozempic is not for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am on week 9, which is the 1.0 unit dosage. I'm disappointed for multiple reasons. I've been EXTREMELY constipated, which is a horrible feeling. I've taken apple cider vinegar, Mag 07, and Miralax, but afterwards constipation returns. I've been gassy, bloated, and have not lost a single pound, keeping in mind I work out 1-3 times a week. I have also experienced backaches, headaches, and a little nausea. I don't think the side effects are worth it since results can clearly vary, since I haven't had any success. I'm not going to continue with the medication anymore."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started this medication last week on Tuesday. The first two days, I had a headache and a flu-like feeling. Throughout the week, I felt nausea almost daily, bouts of diarrhea, and bloated. Today is my second dose of 0.25, and I lost 4 pounds in 7 days (probably the fact that anytime I eat, my next bowel movement is diarrhea). I have felt a general unwellness for the last 7 days and am anxious about how this week will go, as I haven't been able to accomplish what I normally am able to. If this week gets worse and I start vomiting and being really unwell, then I will stop taking this medication. I definitely don't have the same appetite I did before, and my junk food craving has basically been vanquished, however. If the symptoms don't peter out or they get worse, I don't see the point, as it affects my son's life as well when I can't be the best mom I can be."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have type 2 diabetes and I am obese. I started this medication in November 2023. I stopped using it for three months due to a shortage in the market in my country. I used 0.25mg for the first month, 0.5mg for the next three months, and 1mg for two months. The last dose of 1mg was taken on May 17, 2024. In November, I weighed 91kg, and I have reached 75kg or perhaps even less now. For my health, I feel significantly better while working or going upstairs. Regarding side effects, I experienced tiredness, vomiting, headaches, nausea, constipation, and stomach pain."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I was excited to start using Ozempic, however, after 3 weeks, I’m done! Severe nausea for 3 days after the injection, plus stomach pain, chills, and a headache! My numbers went down, however, since I have a weird stomach anyway, taking this is not worth it! I want my life back!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have lost 25 pounds on my own in the last 3 months and decided to give compounded semaglutide injections by my doctor a try to give me a helping hand. On 5/16/23 at 9 a.m., I had my first injection in my arm, and I instantly got a slight headache. By 2 p.m., I was severely nauseated and had to leave work early. Stayed that way all night, and my mouth was watering so bad I was standing over my sink for hours. My stomach was bloated and stayed that way for the next day. On days 2-4, food smelled so bad it made me nauseated. I didn't eat anything but toast. Nothing carbonated could be tolerated at all, or sweet, or cooked for that matter. But the worst part was the nonstop diarrhea and severe stomach cramps. I won't be taking this again. Ex-Lax is a lot cheaper! I hope this wears off soon. Not for me. Kudos to those who have no side effects or could stick it out. I can see why this has been so effective for weight loss (food looks and smells disgusting), but the sickness is unbearable to continue and I can't miss any more work."

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Started at 0.125. The first two weeks, I experienced dizziness and nausea. My nausea was mainly at night, I would dream about being sick. I was slightly less motivated than normal. I'm normally a healthy eater, but eat big portions. Not sure if it was the nausea, but I find myself eating slightly less healthy but smaller portions (for example, I used to eat big salads, and that sounds gross to me, so I might eat a small portion of pasta/bread, etc. I have lost 6 pounds in almost 4 weeks, but I am on the smaller side. I am not sure if it is related or not, but I have experienced more frequent headaches since beginning, and I have also experienced more side effects from alcohol (normally, I can have a few glasses of wine without a hangover, but I feel slightly hungover if I have more than one drink). I am excited to continue, and I would recommend trying! Just know the nausea does stop!"

Semaglutide "I lost 20# in 5 months over a year ago and gained it all back in 6 mos. The top side effects then were nausea, constipation, bloating, and big hair loss, strangely starting a month after discontinuation and lasting 5 mos. Much hair grew back. I started up again a week ago and more, this time unbearable side effects. Horrible headaches at the base of my skull, acid reflux that chokes me and burns my throat at night, flashes of light and wisps of wind in my face at night, nightmares, hair coming out in swaths, erratic high BP (I have high BP, but it was under control before O.), bad joint pain (hips especially), extreme urinary incontinence (swelling down there with pee dribbling), and extremely emotional (incessant crying) just 5 minutes after injection. Five minutes after the second shot (second week), all the above that had “slightly” eased up came back full force! Husband again losing weight with doable nausea and blah feeling. *I have a lot of side effects to most meds."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am just 10 days in having been prescribed it in the NHS via Oviva. The run-in to receiving the meds has been really useful. I think success is dependent on coaching and mindset and lots of hints and tips via their app on how to get your balance of carbs, protein, and veg right. So far, minimal side effects at 0.25mg just a bit of nausea and headaches. First week, 4lb loss, which I am really pleased with. This is a two-year journey for me, so slow and steady is key I think."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was originally prescribed Ozempic in the needle form about 4 years ago. This was an experience I will never forget. Although I dropped weight, the nausea was just too much to bear. I was sick every single day for months on end, it just wouldn't give up, so I was taken off it. Fast forward a few years, and all the weight is back. Last week, after an appointment with my doctor, I was asked to try a tablet form, which they said has less severe side effects. Now, 6 days in, and I'm over the moon, I've lost 8 lbs already. My appetite has been curbed to 3 very small meals a day, but I feel full to my stomach. Now, here's where I have to be 100% honest: this medication is not for the light-hearted. The nausea, headaches, and bad stomach are very, very real. The difference between this and the needle is I'm not physically sick but just feel it all day, every day!!! This is only the 3 mg dose, I will be put up to 6 mg next week and 14 mg in 3 weeks' time. I will post my progress. Good luck, everyone."
