Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "So I have been on Ozempic for 5 weeks. I am tired a lot. Not sure if this is the drug or my poor sleep, but now that I see others are tired a lot, it makes me wonder. I have nasty burps a lot. I started on a dose of 0.25 for 4 weeks. I had a lot of low-level nausea, but not too bad except for one day. Then last Sunday, I took the higher dose of 0.5, and I was okay on Sunday and Monday, but Tuesday the nausea was horrible, and I had explosive diarrhea all day to the point I had to take Imodium, and I got my doctor's office to prescribe an anti-nausea med, Zofran, which helped a little. The next day, less nausea, and today is Thursday of that week, and I still have the burps and more BMs than I would like, as well as a lot of gas. I know I have lost weight just by how my clothes fit. I have very little appetite. Not sure if the pluses outweigh the minuses yet. I am probably going to try one more week and see how I feel. It has had a modest impact on blood sugars. I have been using less insulin."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Has anyone been irritable on Ozempic? I've been on it for 5 days. I've had the nausea, headache, and diarrhea, but I also feel very irritable (could be hormonal, LOL). Just curious if anyone else experienced that."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic about 3 months ago at .25 mg. My doctor made me start my 1st dose on a Monday in her office because I would tell her I would try and then never do it. Tuesday morning I was good, then by Tuesday night, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, till the wee hours of the morning. The symptoms slowed down throughout the week. Even though I was losing at least 3-4 pounds a week, a total of 35 pounds within a 2 1/2 month period. My A1C did go down, the side effects are deadly. I like the fact that I am losing weight, but I hope I don't have permanent damage from this medication."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "At first, I had a brief overwhelming bout of nausea that passed. Decreased appetite definitely had me losing weight, but after the second injection, the nausea got much worse! Plus, I had diarrhea/vomiting, and it just got worse daily. I had to discontinue. Now it's been a month later, and I'm still having nausea and diarrhea. Horrible experience for me."

Semaglutide "Oh boy. I just started Ozempic for weight loss at .25. After my first injection, I was fine for two days, and then was constipated for two days—and since then I’ve been pretty darn sick. Violent diarrhea, headaches, some nausea, and very low energy. I’ve taken several days off from work as I’ve felt so bad. I’ve lost weight since I have no appetite, and nausea follows whenever I eat—even broth and crackers. I have international travel planned in 10 days, and I hope that I’m recovered by then. I may try again after my travels, but this has been rough. The worst side effects I’ve had from a new medication."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March 2019. Doctor put me on Ozempic rather than insulin, although it's not recommended. He thought it was worth a try along with 500 mg metformin twice daily. The first 3 weeks of 0.25 mg Ozempic were just fine. Very minimal side effects - occasional diarrhea, some gas, and belching. Nothing I couldn't handle. The fourth week of 0.25 mg was worse. Constant diarrhea for four days, nausea, some vomiting. I went to a different doctor thinking I had a stomach virus, he prescribed me an anti-diarrheal, and I felt better. I took the Ozempic at 0.5 mg then, as prescribed. Two days later, nightmare. Diarrhea again, vomiting, nausea, and serious fatigue. I'm in the throes of it right now, and I'm going to be contacting my doctor to see what I can do to counteract this. Besides the side effects, though, it's working beautifully. My blood sugar is down from the high 300s to the low 100s in just a month."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Ozempic for 3 weeks. At .25. My hunger is gone! Before, all I ever thought of was food. Now I am full with about half of what I serve on my plate. I am not eating between meals. I get some nausea but not severe and some diarrhea often. No yucky burps! I am losing weight."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Took my injection .25 mg Friday afternoon and had a very hard time eating dinner. By noon Saturday, I was violently ill with diarrhea, vomiting, and a fever. The symptoms subsided by Sunday, and I was left very achy and fatigued. On the upside, I guess I did go from 335 lbs to 318 lbs over the course of the weekend. This medication is not for the faint of heart. It is very depressing to see a full-course meal in front of you and only be able to eat a few bites. If you are serious about losing weight, this medication will get you there, but I wonder if it’ll work or if the side effects will at least subside with longer-term use. The nausea is horrible, but you do also have some beautiful dreams while taking it."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "So I began Ozempic just a few months ago. Just took my first 1 mg dose last week, and I have to say, I am sick all the time. Anything I eat is for sure going to end up in the toilet one way or another. The diarrhea is out of control and constant. When I was only on the 0.25 mg dose, I had a window of the day where I was actually able to eat and not vomit it up later, but since going all the way up to the 1 unit, I cannot keep anything down. I have two small children, and I feel exhausted all the time from the vomiting and the nausea. I have decided today that I will discontinue this medicine as I cannot deal with the severe side effects. Even Zofran isn’t working."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Started out taking 0.25 for 4 weeks, then the 5th week went to 0.50. The next day I was vomiting, had diarrhea, and sulfur burps. Couldn't hold anything down, not even water. Went to the ER the 2nd day to get IV fluids. Called the manufacturer and put in a report. They sent me a mailer to return the pen for evaluation. I am keeping a record of the lot # before I mail the pen back. I am taking a nausea pill and experiencing severe cramps and diarrhea, but the vomiting has stopped. Haven't had any solid food for 4 days, trying to eat Jell-O and applesauce and can barely get it down. So wished I would have read these reviews before I bumped it to 0.5. My diabetes doctor said to decrease. I am going to stop taking it. I have no spleen, so it is difficult to manage all these side effects. Hoping and praying I can start to feel better soon."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I lost 15 lbs in 2 months, but during the end of my treatment, I discontinued use due to worsening side effects such as: chest tightness, weakness, lethargy, extreme nausea, diarrhea, shortness of breath. I also experienced cotton mouth; however, I am unsure if this was due to this medication, as I had a wisdom tooth removal during this time. My treatment started at 0.25 mg for 4 weeks and then increased to 0.5 mg for weeks 5-8, then increased to 1.0 mg at week 9, which is when the side effects became alarming, and I chose not to increase the dose. At week 10, I did increase to 1.0 mg and decided to stop after, as I chose to listen to my body and not push it. The ease of use was fine as I don't mind needles too much; the sensation was slightly uncomfortable but not painful."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Made me terribly sick. Took only 0.25 dosage one time, had terrible diarrhea, extreme exhaustion, and some nausea. Definitely not taking the second dose. Not worth the pain. Did not lose any weight either. It stops you from eating because it makes you feel so bad if you do. I also think this drug is meant for someone who doesn’t live an active lifestyle. I work out all the time, I eat healthy, and really just wanted to drop 15 lbs. This drug was very disappointing."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "Year this month, still get constipation but use natural remedies to help. Lost 2st so far but slowly also sugars resist so much better and cholesterol. Can’t walk very well although only late 70s. But yes, prefer this to injections. Have had nausea but it gets less as time goes on on bouts of diarrhea not at all often. My bugbear was constipation but hoping natural remedies will work although have powders from doctor prefer natural if possible."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "In February of '23, I learned that I had a hiatal hernia where 2/3rds of my stomach was above my diaphragm. The doctor said she could operate, but it wouldn't stay fixed because of my body mass. So my primary care PA suggested Wegovy. I agreed to try it. The first 3-4 days of my first week were rather rough. I had horrible gas, diarrhea, and nausea. I could eat berries and yogurt, but not much else. Over the first 2 months, I lost 12 pounds. Then I plateaued. There also was a mix-up with getting my next 4 doses on time, so I went a couple of weeks with no doses. Most recently, we upped my dose, and now at 1.7 mg, I don't have many stomach problems, but I feel tired all the time. I get up and do a few things, and then I take a nap. And repeat. I had one time when I started to feel dizzy and faint because my blood sugar was low, but a sweet drink and a burrito helped with that. I am still slowly losing weight, which makes me happy! I've lost a total of 18 pounds in about 4 months."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started with 0.5 mg twice a week as a once-a-day eater with portion control issues. Looking to lose about 20 pounds. On day 1, I had nausea, by day 3, the nausea worsened, and I had bad diarrhea. After the second injection, I experienced heartburn, acid reflux, gas, and diarrhea. The worst side effects by far, though, are the stomach being bloated and cramping. It's like it has food in it that is not being digested and sits there with more and more stomach acid being produced. This is my second missed day of work because of stomach pain and nausea. I am going to start exercising and focus on eating less and avoiding cravings for me. Semaglutide is going in the trashcan. My digestive tract has never been so confused. I am a 37-year-old male, 6'3'', 200 lbs."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started this medication 4 months ago at the 0.25 dose. I upped the dose to 0.5 three weeks ago, and on the third week, the symptoms started. Horrible nausea, vomit burps, and relentless diarrhea. I’ve lost 4 pounds in three days. I reached out to my doctor, and she prescribed something for the diarrhea... it’s helped some, but I’m tired of feeling bad. I missed two days of work this week because I couldn’t be too far from the bathroom! My A1C went from 8.6 to 6.2, which is awesome, but there has to be something else to take without the side effects! She told me to hold my metformin until the diarrhea stopped and not to take the Ozempic next week. Don’t think I’m going to take it ever again."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started with the 3 mg, then 7 mg, and the fireworks started with the 14 mg. I started taking it the Saturday before Easter. The Tuesday after Easter, I started with diarrhea for about a week. My doctor said I may have diverticulitis and gave me an antibiotic. The diarrhea stopped for 2 weeks, then came back with a vengeance, and it brought vomiting and nausea with it. Like clockwork, every 4 days, the diarrhea would kick it off, followed by the nausea, and then the crescendo of puking my guts out. Then repeat 4 days later. I stopped taking it on a Monday, and that Friday got sick again. I read that it could take 4 to 5 weeks to get it out. It’s now 5 days, and I feel good finally. I did work on lowering my A1C, I think. I also changed my diet and started with a lot more exercise, and so far, things are good. I would avoid taking Semaglutide if possible. It didn’t work for me."

Semaglutide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on Ozempic 12 weeks ago in Jan 2022, which is the same as Wegovy in a lower dosage. I spent 4 weeks on the 0.25 dosage, losing 2 lbs. Moved up to the 0.5 dosage for 4 weeks, losing another 2 lbs, moved up to the 1 dosage for 4 weeks, and lost an additional 3 lbs. I just took my first dose of Wegovy at the 1.7 dosage, and wow can I tell a difference. I won’t lie, I have experienced a few side effects, such as constipation, some abdominal pain, nausea, headache, and diarrhea, but all have been mostly mild and very tolerable. Nothing that can’t be helped with eating a little less. The key to managing all of it is learning how to eat properly with the right portion sizes. Only eat until you are satisfied rather than full. For me, it is well worth dealing with mild side effects in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle!"

Semaglutide for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Dr. put me on this medication for weight loss. I’m not diabetic. Four weeks on .25 everything was a breeze; didn’t feel any side effects. Went up to .50 after a month, and it’s been horrible ever since (had it Thursday, and it is now four days since my injection; it is now Monday). It started with severe vertigo that laid me out for a whole day and a half. Saturday, I felt a bit better but still not right. Sunday, I felt dizzy spells still coming and going and acid reflux with constant burping, just off and not myself. Today, Monday, I’ve had diarrhea, no desire to eat, and I’ve been completely exhausted and still nauseous and dizzy. I actually couldn’t take the nausea anymore, so I finally threw up, and I could actually taste the medicine coming up. Now, here I am in bed once again, waiting to see what’s next for me."

I feel like I have the stomach flu. This is absolutely the worst. Contacted my doctor, and he told me to go back down to 0.5 mg. But I still have to make it through the week!"

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic at .25 mg. The injection didn’t hurt because it’s a thin needle. That’s the positive. It caused persistent nausea, reflux-type symptoms, and diarrhea. My thought is people lose weight because, well, who wants to eat if you’re so nauseous you want to throw up. Then there is the cost. Retail price: $975.99. I paid $334.00. My insurance saved me $641.99. Are they kidding? I’m done."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "This stuff is horrible! One dose of 0.25 mg and started with nausea and vomiting and watery diarrhea within 12 hrs. 12 hrs later, still going. No way to reverse it, according to pharmacy. I’m 77 years old and not sure how long I can handle this. Vomiting and nausea not responding to ginger or antiemetics. Watery diarrhea not letting up at all. After reading info online, it stays in the system for 5 weeks after the last dose."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Rybelsus 3 mg at the beginning of June actually for PCOS. I already take 1500 of Metformin and exercise 5 days a week. At first, I had horrible nausea and diarrhea, but as of the beginning of July, I feel normal. It curbs my cravings and suppresses my appetite. At first, I was barely eating, almost starving, but now I can eat a normal amount. I’ve lost 15 pounds in a month and am very happy with my results so far. Just started the 7 mg today, excited to see how it goes."

Semaglutide for Type 2 Diabetes "My Dr. prescribed Ozempic for weight loss after I lost 50 lbs using Trulicity. I had few side effects from Trulicity. My side effects from Ozempic are awful. Two to three days after a weekly dose, I experienced severe diarrhea, gas, belching, nausea, lasting about 24 hours. I stopped injecting it for a couple of weeks, then tried it again to confirm Ozempic was the cause. It is. I learned my lesson."
