For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic for 6 months. My A1C was 10, it is now 6.9. I thought it would be lower after 6 months. I have lost 45 lbs. because it killed my appetite, so some days I don’t eat at all. Side effects: diarrhea after eating, nausea, fatigue, just feeling blah."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Ozempic for 5 weeks, it was prescribed for type 2 diabetes. I'm extremely sensitive to medications, so thankfully it hasn't been too severe. At 0.25, I had nausea off and on for a couple of days and got sick if I overate. You fill up so quickly, so you have to eat slowly to keep from accidentally overeating. By the end of the 1st month, I couldn't tell I was taking it. I just started the 0.5 dose, and it's a little intense. I'm having to eat even slower. The 2nd day after the injection, I was so sick from having a snack after having my tiny lunch. It was 4 hours after I ate my lunch, so I'm assuming it was still sitting in my stomach. My few bites of a snack sent me over the edge into misery. I take an antidepressant, and I believe it's behind my original weight gain. I feel it numbs the ability to feel full. I still have a small appetite on Ozempic, but I dare not eat. My appetite has been greatly reduced, but it's still there. So far, 13 pounds are gone in 5 weeks."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started with a 0.25mg dose once a week. I am on week 3 of taking it and already noticed a decrease in appetite and sporadic increase in feelings of nausea. I also have noticed that I get full quicker resulting in eating less. Bowel movements are no longer consistent and can vary in type. I have noticed that I have moments where I have no energy. In order to try and improve this, I have been drinking a little orange juice. I continue to drink a lot of water since I also take Jardiance, which will dehydrate you if one doesn't drink enough."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I have been on Ozempic for four weeks now and am down 5 lbs. I have had nausea and constipation, but it's subsiding now. I have noticed the curb of appetite is huge. I have to make myself eat during the day. I am hoping this helps me get down to a healthier weight so I will feel better mentally and physically."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic at 0.25 mg weekly 6 months ago and have gradually increased to 1.0 mg weekly. I did experience very mild nausea at first, but I paid attention to my body and just ate less. I have experienced some constipation and have taken over-the-counter medication for that. I have lost just under 4 pounds a month for the last 5 months. I need about 30 percent less insulin. My appetite has decreased. I eat less at meals and rarely snack. My A1c is under 7. For me, Ozempic has caused a significant improvement in my life."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have found that Ozempic helps me with curbing my appetite, and my A1C numbers have looked better lately. Now for the bad news - I take my shot for the week on Monday mornings. Within a couple of hours, I get to feeling nauseated, have chills, almost like I've gotten the flu. It generally lasts most of the day on Monday, and I'm okay by Tuesday morning. I hate to feel like I have to feel like crap for 24 hours each week to get the positives that medication can provide. I hope that you can give me some ways to try to curb the sickness that comes with my shot on Mondays. Thank you for your time and attention."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on it for about a year now. So far, I haven't had much in the way of side effects. The only thing I have noticed is some nausea and reduced appetite, especially when I increase the dose. Constipation also has been an issue off and on. I have experienced the bonus of weight loss while on it, losing 27 pounds so far. It has definitely helped my blood sugar, as I have been able to reduce the amount of insulin needed by 6 units so far, and it is rare I need to use any shorter-acting insulin at all. Pleased with my results so far."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "My doctor asked me at my physical late August 2022 if I wanted to try Ozempic for my prediabetes and weight loss, as he had had good results on it. I thought about it, researched, and called him back and said yes. I’m 8 months in and have lost over 55 pounds, and I’m feeling fabulous. I have been very careful to eat bland, non-greasy food to avoid digestive upset. The drug takes away appetite and helps with feeling full, but I make sure to eat mostly vegetables and fruits and eat sparingly of any greasy foods like pizza or high-carb foods like pasta or potatoes. I have found this combination to be successful, so I can eat a piece of pizza and a salad, or a baked potato and a salad, as long as I watch the butter and salad dressing. My former craving for sweets is completely gone. It is a miracle! I also noticed people seemed to have the best luck taking the injections in their thighs, so I have exclusively done that, alternating left and right week by week. I have had almost no nausea."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic at the end of March 2023 for overall better A1C control, weight loss, and reduction in cardiovascular risk. Started at 0.25 mg for the first week and increased to 0.5 mg since. For the first month, I had strong nausea, lightheadedness, and significant constipation with abdominal discomfort. I also felt very tired all day, which I found was due to not eating enough carbs daily, as Ozempic tends to significantly reduce the appetite. I stuck with it, and after one month at 0.5 mg, the only remaining issue is constipation, which I try to manage through over-the-counter laxatives and prescription medication once a day. Over two months, I lost 25 pounds (235 lbs down to 210 lbs)! My daily fasting blood sugar results are down 20-25 points from before starting Ozempic (A1C to be tested in one more month) and managing my energy level by ensuring enough carb and protein intake. So far, so good!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking it for over a month. No side effects for the first 2 weeks on the lower dose. Since I am using the higher dose now - I have had some very bad nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Also, lots of burping, and it smells terrible. When I have vomited - it is so much volume. More than any time in my life. It has reduced my appetite, but if I drink alcohol, it usually makes me physically sick."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started at 0.25 and then up to 0.5. Had good control of my blood sugar for 5 months. Then my appetite and weight started to return in the last month. So I just went up to 1.0 today. Be prepared for the side effects, especially nausea and feeling full all the time. I have managed the nausea with Gravol. In many, many ways this is a miracle drug."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic in October 2020. I have lowered my A1C from 8 to 5.8 and have, so far, lost 63 lbs! My appetite has decreased, but I'm eating and craving healthier food. I have continued to experience intermittent nausea and vomiting, but the side effects have significantly decreased. This is my miracle drug!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "My first week, I felt tired and had no energy. Mild, intermittent nausea. Guess that's the appetite suppressant part. After the first 3 days, I started getting quite a bit of stomach discomfort and diarrhea. Anything I ate or drank went right through me, as well as gas. Also, an unusual amount of belching. Hope this goes away soon and does not happen after every dose. I teach 4-year-olds, and it greatly affected my ability to do my job. My BS numbers are not much different."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Serious stomach issues, cramping, bloating, severe constipation, nausea, no appetite, rashes, pain in the upper and lower bowel, gas. Loss of too much weight, no taste for food. Have had previous trouble with colitis and diverticulitis but still prescribed this medication. Only have 1 kidney and now afraid it may be damaged. I have been on this drug for approximately 7-9 months. Now worried, but the doctor is not concerned enough to take me off this medication."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started this medication last week on Tuesday. The first two days, I had a headache and a flu-like feeling. Throughout the week, I felt nausea almost daily, bouts of diarrhea, and bloated. Today is my second dose of 0.25, and I lost 4 pounds in 7 days (probably the fact that anytime I eat, my next bowel movement is diarrhea). I have felt a general unwellness for the last 7 days and am anxious about how this week will go, as I haven't been able to accomplish what I normally am able to. If this week gets worse and I start vomiting and being really unwell, then I will stop taking this medication. I definitely don't have the same appetite I did before, and my junk food craving has basically been vanquished, however. If the symptoms don't peter out or they get worse, I don't see the point, as it affects my son's life as well when I can't be the best mom I can be."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking this drug for about 8 weeks, starting out with the 0.25 dose and now on the 0.5 dose. I have felt miserable the whole time, with nausea similar to pregnancy and with a revulsion to most food and smells of food cooking. Definitely low energy. I have lost weight, and I haven’t had my A1C checked since I started. I will see my doctor in a couple of weeks and will be telling her that I can’t continue to live this way. I’m 75 years young and don’t want to live the rest of my years feeling bad! Unusual, hiccup-type burps, coming out of nowhere and no appetite. Convenient once-a-week administration."

"I am 51 years old. I have been taking Ozempic to reduce appetite and lose weight for two years. Doses 0.5 mg once weekly subcutaneously. Taking Ozempic is accompanied by nausea and sour belching. There was pain in the right side. I was examined and there is inflammation of the duodenum and a stone in the gall bladder. I like that Ozempic helps fight excess weight, but now I have very strong discomfort."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I always struggled to lose weight in my life due to a big appetite. Now at age 34, after 3 C-sections, I was at the highest point of my weight, 81 kg at 5'3" height. I started Ozempic from 0.25 mg, and now I am in week 7 and taking a 1 mg dose. In 7 weeks, I have lost 15 lbs. I can't be more than happy. I had mild side effects here and there: nausea and diarrhea, but nothing I can't handle. It has cut my appetite by 90%. I will take it until I reach my normal BMI. Totally a game changer and lifesaver. I will keep you posted."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 0.25 of Ozempic, and after a month, increased to 0.50. After 2 months, I had lost 20 lbs. (I was not overweight). I constantly felt nauseous, had no appetite for anything, finally vomiting at random times whether I had eaten or not. Would take a laxative suppository every week because I had no urge ever to go. It did lower my A1C, but wasn't worth the effects. The medication has been changed."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am a 54-year-old overweight male who started taking Ozempic 3 months ago to help control my type 2 diabetes and to lower my A1C. For the first 3 weeks, I took a 0.25 dose weekly and felt okay. Some occasional stomach cramps and nausea. For the past 2 months, I have been taking a 0.50 dose, and side effects have gotten worse. Loss of appetite, stomach pains, feeling nauseous, and uncontrollable diarrhea while sleeping. Yes, that's right... I have been pooping the bed. On the plus side, I have lost over 20 lbs, but at quite a disgusting price to pay. Time to either quit taking this or try something else. I now understand the commercials where the people say 'O.' It's because 'O, I pooped my pants again.'"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I began Ozempic .25 mg three months ago. Initially, I experienced some nausea, but it wasn't severe. However, I have lost 38 pounds in the three-month period. Ozempic has been curbing my appetite, and as a result, my blood sugar levels have significantly improved. My A1C has dropped from 8.4 to 6.8 within the same time period, and my fasting sugars in the morning are now at 6.0 compared to a previous high of 8.1. Using Ozempic is easy, and it allows me to go about my day without constantly worrying about experiencing low blood sugar, which happened frequently when I was taking both Humalog and Lantus insulins. I have been living with type 2 diabetes for 21 years."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was so excited the first month for taking it, for I have lost about 12 pounds. I have been taking it for about six months, and I have gained about 6 pounds back. Also, my A1C went up 0.4. The first month was a lot of nausea, and I believe that’s why I lost the weight. I didn’t want to eat. Now my appetite is completely back, and no nausea, and I get constipated. It makes no sense to continue this drug. My A1C was lower last year following a diet prescribed by a nutritionist."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic 6 weeks ago on a .25 dose. I didn't even notice anything different. I was using my stomach area as the injection site. After the 2nd and 3rd doses, I began feeling sick to my stomach for the first few days after my injection. That's when I began doing more research and found this page. I'm grateful for all the helpful reviews. Someone suggested that I use my thigh as an injection site, which really helped reduce my nausea. I was a little apprehensive about how I would feel once I increased the dose on the 5th week. But I haven't noticed any difference. I've lost a few pounds, maybe about 5. But I have noticed that it has suppressed my appetite. I also took the advice given here to eat smaller meals throughout the day. My blood sugar readings have gone down quite a bit from a 30-day average of 144 down to 110. I could never get my fasting count lower than 120. So far, my lowest reading has been 85, and I am totally thrilled. Thanks for all the advice and help."
