For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on this drug 4 weeks ago. First 2 weeks at 0.25, a little bit of headache and appetite totally gone. Second 2 weeks I went to 0.5, and that's when I felt bad. Bad headaches, double vision, dizzy, and I feel like I have the flu. The upside is that I lost weight, but it's not worth the side effects... I am going back to Saxenda despite the price."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Just completing week one at the low dose. I did the research after being given the prescription and expected there would be side effects, so planned for it. I bought antacids and Gravol and waited. The injection site is the thigh, and I got a small bruise. I did not feel the injection at all. I had minor side effects on day one, of a headache and feeling queasy. Since then, only some belching if I overeat. It is like my brain suddenly recognizes I have eaten."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Ozempic for 10 weeks for both weight loss, which I have struggled with for years, and diabetes. I experienced nausea, constipation, slight dizziness, and headaches, but nothing that I couldn't manage, and only for 1 or 2 weeks of each increased dose. Went from 0.25 to 0.5, and now I'm on week 2 of the highest dose, 1.0, and currently have no side effects. I have also lost 19 lb so far, the doctor advised a 1200-calorie diet, and I couldn't be happier. My blood levels have come down from high 7's to 6.4, and the doctor is considering taking me off my usual diabetic medication, Empagliflozin. Some folks are saying, 'don't take it,' but just because their body didn't take to it doesn't mean you won't! And you could be missing out on what I would say is a game-changing medicine. I would say give it a go. And I wouldn't give up now for anything. My health has significantly improved. (Free to diabetics in the UK)."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Thank you all for your comments. I didn't realize the headaches were from the Ozempic. I have not suffered from the runs, but did get the reflux. I have had it before and already take meds for it. It is a relief to see my symptoms are, while not great, fairly normal. I am on week 4 at .25 and will go up to .5 in two more weeks."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Twelve hours after I was injected with 1 mg Ozempic, I had severe headaches and vomited for almost four days. No matter what I eat, I feel dizzy and have a bad taste in my mouth. I ate soft and nonfat foods, but still, the vomiting continued. I never had constipation or diarrhea."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic at the lowest dose for 4 weeks. The first week was brutal, with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and headache, however, I injected the second week in my thigh and the side effects waned. It appears to be lowering and leveling my A1C. I'm nervous about increasing my dose next week. I can manage a week of discomfort as long as it is short-term. My body does seem to be getting used to it. I'm willing to work with it as long-term benefits for me outweigh the short-term discomfort. I may change my mind as time goes on, as these horror stories have me concerned. So strange that there is such a wide range of patient experiences...both good and bad."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This is a horrible drug. I thought I was dying, my stomach hurt so bad. I'd be in a ball on the couch. I had headaches, constipation, vomiting, could not eat, lost 20 lbs so fast, my skin sagged. Do not take this medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor started me on 0.25 mg about 4 weeks ago for my diabetes. My first week, there were no symptoms, my second week, I started feeling nauseous all the time, dizzy, headache. I’m now sick every day. I try to eat, I get very hungry but am not able to eat more than a few bites without wanting or needing to vomit. I shake all the time from my sugar levels dropping so low. It seems like I’m always hypoglycemic but not able to stop it! Some days I don’t even want to get out of bed, I’m so sick! THIS IS THE WORST MEDICINE I’VE EVER TAKEN!! It seems to be good for some people, but certainly not for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Newly diagnosed with type 2, started with .25 for 5 weeks. Lots of waves of nausea, headaches, and overall discomfort. Week 5 did get better, the side effects lasted just a day or two after injection. .5 has been a 2-week nightmare. Extremely painful headaches, nausea, and now constipation. I am hoping there's a different med I can try that isn't so hard."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I unfortunately had a very severe reaction to Ozempic. I usually do suffer side effects from most medications, but thought I would give it a try. The first two weeks were headache, general stomach ache, and constipation lasting 2 days after each injection. Weeks 3 and 4 got worse. Stronger reactions, lasting longer. Week 5, I started the double dose, and I was pretty ill for 2 days. Week 6 and 7 was rough, but I thought I could ride it out. Week 8 had me in emergency twice for diarrhea, vomiting, headache, and major dehydration. I was unable to eat or drink anything. I had to get rehydrated and be given anti-nausea meds on both occasions. I guess my body slowed the release of food so much I had a massive buildup to the point even a sip of water made me extremely nauseous. Ozempic is not for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor prescribed it as a miracle drug, bought a 0.25 mg kit. My doctor gave me instructions, but I found better instructions on YouTube, so the next day I was ready with all that info. I cooked a light soup, no carbs, no fat, etc. I drank water, washed my hands, cleaned my belly, and did the shot. All was okay. After a few hours, abdominal pain, my eyes started to itch, then blurry vision. I went crazy, wondering what happened to me, went to bed, then the nausea came with a headache. The next days I was sick and did not go away, so I phoned my doctor. She said it's all in my mind and I will get used to it. Now I am afraid of the second injection, is it worth it? Why pay for an expensive drug to get sick? The only positive was that it lowered my morning blood sugar from 100-110 to 88. I take 1000 mg of metformin twice a day. For others, do not use it for the first time and go to work, it's good to do it when you do not have work the next day."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was started on a 30-day trial of Ozempic at the same time I was started on Metformin. Everything went okay for the first couple of weeks, although I did notice a slight headache the day I took my dose of Ozempic. Then, right at the time I stepped up my dose per the trial instructions, I started getting violently ill. They had me stop both medications and start one back at a time, and it was determined I can't tolerate Metformin. After trying Jardiance and only getting small results, they started me back on Ozempic. I was sick within 2 days of my first dose. My stomach would not digest any vegetables, which sort of defeats the purpose of taking it for blood sugar management when all you can tolerate are simple carbs. After the 2nd dose, I decided I was spending too much time trying not to be violently ill after eating and asked to be taken off the medication. Thankfully, since I was only 2 weeks in, I was able to notice a decrease in symptoms within a week of stopping. Not for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have type 2 diabetes and I am obese. I started this medication in November 2023. I stopped using it for three months due to a shortage in the market in my country. I used 0.25mg for the first month, 0.5mg for the next three months, and 1mg for two months. The last dose of 1mg was taken on May 17, 2024. In November, I weighed 91kg, and I have reached 75kg or perhaps even less now. For my health, I feel significantly better while working or going upstairs. Regarding side effects, I experienced tiredness, vomiting, headaches, nausea, constipation, and stomach pain."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started this medication last week on Tuesday. The first two days, I had a headache and a flu-like feeling. Throughout the week, I felt nausea almost daily, bouts of diarrhea, and bloated. Today is my second dose of 0.25, and I lost 4 pounds in 7 days (probably the fact that anytime I eat, my next bowel movement is diarrhea). I have felt a general unwellness for the last 7 days and am anxious about how this week will go, as I haven't been able to accomplish what I normally am able to. If this week gets worse and I start vomiting and being really unwell, then I will stop taking this medication. I definitely don't have the same appetite I did before, and my junk food craving has basically been vanquished, however. If the symptoms don't peter out or they get worse, I don't see the point, as it affects my son's life as well when I can't be the best mom I can be."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor put me on this because I was pre-diabetic, and he said I was insulin resistant. Since I’ve been taking it, I’m not as hungry, but my head hurts, and I always feel dehydrated, and so I’m peeing all day. I feel short of breath, and my chest has been feeling pains. I’m also experiencing constipation and constant light-headedness, and I’ve only been on it for 2 weeks. I may give it another 2 weeks, but not sure if the side effects are worth all this. I feel no energy, and my legs are always sore, and I’m so tired all the time. My way of living has suffered because I’m too tired to do anything and feel yuck all the time. Trying not to be frustrated because if this doesn’t help me, he wants to put me on Jardiance, but I hear so many horror stories about that one. This one isn’t as great as everyone said it would be, so who knows, maybe Jardiance will be better for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was excited to start using Ozempic, however, after 3 weeks, I’m done! Severe nausea for 3 days after the injection, plus stomach pain, chills, and a headache! My numbers went down, however, since I have a weird stomach anyway, taking this is not worth it! I want my life back!"

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Started at 0.125. The first two weeks, I experienced dizziness and nausea. My nausea was mainly at night, I would dream about being sick. I was slightly less motivated than normal. I'm normally a healthy eater, but eat big portions. Not sure if it was the nausea, but I find myself eating slightly less healthy but smaller portions (for example, I used to eat big salads, and that sounds gross to me, so I might eat a small portion of pasta/bread, etc. I have lost 6 pounds in almost 4 weeks, but I am on the smaller side. I am not sure if it is related or not, but I have experienced more frequent headaches since beginning, and I have also experienced more side effects from alcohol (normally, I can have a few glasses of wine without a hangover, but I feel slightly hungover if I have more than one drink). I am excited to continue, and I would recommend trying! Just know the nausea does stop!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I took Ozempic for the first time today around noon. I had a headache about 19 minutes after taking 0.25 mg. About an hour later, I developed red welts and a red, itchy, burning rash down the inside of my right thigh! I thought it would go away eventually, it’s been 9 hours, still there. The headache is gone, no stomach problems. However, my numbers have been around the low 109's to the low 200's after a meal. After eating soup for lunch, my glucose level shot up to 378! Has anyone else experienced this? I hope I’m able to tolerate this drug."

"I lost 20# in 5 months over a year ago and gained it all back in 6 mos. The top side effects then were nausea, constipation, bloating, and big hair loss, strangely starting a month after discontinuation and lasting 5 mos. Much hair grew back. I started up again a week ago and more, this time unbearable side effects. Horrible headaches at the base of my skull, acid reflux that chokes me and burns my throat at night, flashes of light and wisps of wind in my face at night, nightmares, hair coming out in swaths, erratic high BP (I have high BP, but it was under control before O.), bad joint pain (hips especially), extreme urinary incontinence (swelling down there with pee dribbling), and extremely emotional (incessant crying) just 5 minutes after injection. Five minutes after the second shot (second week), all the above that had “slightly” eased up came back full force! Husband again losing weight with doable nausea and blah feeling. *I have a lot of side effects to most meds."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Since starting, I have been constantly constipated and have a nagging headache. I have found that cravings have increased substantially. I have gained about 10 pounds as well. I am on 1 mg a week and have been using it for about 8 months. My A1C has gone down, though I think that is more willpower fighting the cravings."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic injections 3 weeks ago (by the way, I live in the UK). I also take Metformin and Foxigra. I had a slight headache and nausea, which I seem to get a few days after the injection. I don't find I get any appetite decrease that much, and I've put on weight this week. But sticking with it, so we shall see."
