For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on Ozempic in January 2021. I started on 0.25 mg and then in February went up to 0.50 mg. My A1C has come down from 8.5 to 6.9, which is brilliant. My fasting sugar levels are below 7 in the morning compared to 8-10, and I find it’s below 7 during the day. Bloating is awful and constant, my stomach is blown up like I’m 6 months pregnant. I haven’t lost any weight. My digestive system feels off. Although my appetite is surprising, I wonder how good this is if you're not eating and getting all the nutrients your body needs. Constipation and diarrhea are extreme. I’m always really thirsty, and normally if I drink water..."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Been taking Ozempic for about 4 months now. Lost one to two pounds a week so far since. Appetite is almost nonexistent. I notice some constipation here and there but no real discomfort. Started at 0.25 and am now at 1.0. All other meds did nothing or made me feel sick. My A1C made it to 19 before taking this! It's now at 8 and dropping. Still have a bit to go for ideal sugar and weight levels, but I am very happy so far."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on it for about a year now. So far, I haven't had much in the way of side effects. The only thing I have noticed is some nausea and reduced appetite, especially when I increase the dose. Constipation also has been an issue off and on. I have experienced the bonus of weight loss while on it, losing 27 pounds so far. It has definitely helped my blood sugar, as I have been able to reduce the amount of insulin needed by 6 units so far, and it is rare I need to use any shorter-acting insulin at all. Pleased with my results so far."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic at the end of March 2023 for overall better A1C control, weight loss, and reduction in cardiovascular risk. Started at 0.25 mg for the first week and increased to 0.5 mg since. For the first month, I had strong nausea, lightheadedness, and significant constipation with abdominal discomfort. I also felt very tired all day, which I found was due to not eating enough carbs daily, as Ozempic tends to significantly reduce the appetite. I stuck with it, and after one month at 0.5 mg, the only remaining issue is constipation, which I try to manage through over-the-counter laxatives and prescription medication once a day. Over two months, I lost 25 pounds (235 lbs down to 210 lbs)! My daily fasting blood sugar results are down 20-25 points from before starting Ozempic (A1C to be tested in one more month) and managing my energy level by ensuring enough carb and protein intake. So far, so good!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have started Ozempic February 2020. I experienced severe stomach problems, constipation, my sense of smell became too sensitive. I couldn’t eat any kind of meat, eggs, or vegetables because the smell of them was revolting. Gradually, my intake was bread, cheese, and sweets, so weight loss was slow with a lot of carbs that were easy to digest. Since I had depression and previous reflux disease, my doctor kept telling me it is all in your head. I developed piles (hemorrhoids) because of the abuse of laxatives. Cramps in my large intestine were so severe that I begged my doctor I might have cancer. As I stopped Ozempic, I felt an enormous pressure leave my digestive system. Now I have another problem, I lost 8 kilos by Ozempic from February 2020 till October 2021. Two weeks after stopping Ozempic, I gained 4 kilos again, and I have an enormous appetite."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Serious stomach issues, cramping, bloating, severe constipation, nausea, no appetite, rashes, pain in the upper and lower bowel, gas. Loss of too much weight, no taste for food. Have had previous trouble with colitis and diverticulitis but still prescribed this medication. Only have 1 kidney and now afraid it may be damaged. I have been on this drug for approximately 7-9 months. Now worried, but the doctor is not concerned enough to take me off this medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was prescribed Ozempic because of type 2 diabetes, an overweight condition, and needing a quadruple bypass surgery. Ozempic immediately started my weight loss journey, I had a surgery wait time of 15 weeks. In that time, I lost close to 60 lbs. Post-surgery, I lost another 10 lbs. 2.5 years later, I am a happy 75-year-old male maintaining a weight of 45 to 49 lbs. My side effects are gastrointestinal, primarily. I cycle through constipation and diarrhea week by week. My appetite has been reduced, my energy has increased. I now take 0.75 mg weekly, my A1C last time was 6.4. For me, the benefit of taking Ozempic far outweighs the negatives of using the drug. This is just one person's experience, I assume that everyone has their own unique experience with this drug. I have to say that mine has been all positive."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was so excited the first month for taking it, for I have lost about 12 pounds. I have been taking it for about six months, and I have gained about 6 pounds back. Also, my A1C went up 0.4. The first month was a lot of nausea, and I believe that’s why I lost the weight. I didn’t want to eat. Now my appetite is completely back, and no nausea, and I get constipated. It makes no sense to continue this drug. My A1C was lower last year following a diet prescribed by a nutritionist."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Ok, my doctor begged me to try this, and I was very hesitant after reading reviews. Here is how my .25 injection in my hip fat went over the next week. By the end of the day, my stomach was bloated. Like you ate way too much kind of bloated. I read how people were sick, so I limited breakfast to one biscuit, lunch to two eggs, and dinner to a chicken breast. I did not get sick, but the bloating burning sensation lasted five days. I had oatmeal for breakfast the next two days, with a wrap for lunch and dinner. It only curbed my appetite by making me scared to death to eat, which caused constipation. My blood sugars were slightly lower, but the fear of getting sick was not worth it for me. I also have GERD and took Pepcid for two days. I have been diabetic a long time, almost 23 years. I take insulin. I am vastly overweight at 340 pounds. My experience was mild compared to others and not worth getting sicker to lose weight or starve myself. I did not use it after the first week. No way."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I took one injection of 1 mg as prescribed. I have been sick for a week with severe constipation, nausea, dizziness, stomach upset/pain, acidity, gas bloating. I could not eat or sleep comfortably at night. This is very strong and mainly suppresses the appetite. I never had this much sickness from a drug."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Severe constipation! I also have shortness of breath, which I am trying to determine if Ozempic is the cause. Yes, it did flatten my diabetic readings and curb my appetite, but I had to stop due to the constipation and am now wondering if my shortness of breath is caused by it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am on the 3rd week of the 1 mg dose. I started with .25 for 4 weeks, then to .50 mg. My A1C is down from 9.9 to 7.8. I am 70 years old with HBP. My appetite has decreased. I started having constipation with 1 mg. I continue to have queasiness and tiredness since taking it. I lost 10 lbs since starting mid-January to mid-May."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been taking Ozempic since the beginning of March 2025. My starting dose was 0.25 and I am now at 1.0. At the time I started, I weighed about 193 and am now weighing 156 lbs. The only side effects I seem to be dealing with and do not like are nausea, vomiting, and constipation. Ozempic has curbed my appetite considerably, as well as my liquid intake, which I don't mind since I've lost a lot of my weight. Right now, my biggest problem is finding clothes to fit me and deciding if I should keep my old clothes or donate them. I really haven't bought much in the way of new clothes in part because I don't know how much more weight I am going to lose, plus the expense of buying new clothes. My goal is to weigh somewhere between 135 and 140. My A1c is down from 8.9 to 8.1, I would like that to be lower, like 7.1."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic the 1st week in May, now the first week in August. I was reluctant to try it due to a poor reaction to Byetta, it made me violently ill. My new Dr. talked me into it. I had a mild reaction at .25, definitely decreased my appetite, mild nausea. The most troublesome side effect was constipation. I went to a .5 dose after two weeks, constipation got worse and I was so stopped up that I had to use an enema. I have lost about 15 pounds. Changes in blood sugar have been negligible. My Dr. wants me to go to a 1.0 dose, I hope this will work. Constipation will probably increase, and occasional enema is tolerable, though. I don't like laxatives, they are unpredictable and cramping with questionable results. Enemas always work right away."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "It certainly helps to reduce appetite, almost making you anorexic. Side effects... the beginning with constipation was manageable, but the severe diarrhea is terrible. The heartburn also manageable. Using 1 mg after building up from 18 clicks to 32 clicks. Administering the subcutaneous injection is easy."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Began on 0.25 in May 2021. At first, zero side effects, no appetite at all and glucose plummeting. Went up to 0.50 in July. After 3 weeks, I had 2 days of severe stomach pain, vomiting (which I never do), and weakness. Was supposed to take an injection that day, but I did not. The next day, went back to 0.25 and so far so good. Outside of mild constipation (I don't eat much), I have to say the drug is a great one. I may change my mind if I start feeling pain every week, but so far so good. I see my MD next month and will ask him if I should go back up to 0.50."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic in January 2022. First week, I had extreme diarrhea with blood and mucus (always constipated before this). Endocrinologist told me he didn’t think it was Ozempic, but I went off it. Diarrhea, etc., continued. Ended up having to get a colonoscopy and was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Endocrinologist wanted to put me back on Ozempic. We figured the diarrhea, etc., was just the colitis. Started it back up five weeks ago. No diarrhea, back to constipation, nauseous every day, extreme fatigue. Also now diagnosed with Retinal Vasculitis. But my inflammatory markers are high. Not sure if this all started because of Ozempic. Just increased to 0.5 mg today, so we will see. It just seems like an odd coincidence. No appetite, but no weight loss either. Hair loss, but could be from colitis."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Ozempic for 16 months. I have lost around 30 pounds and my A1C has gone down from 8.0 to 6.9 - the lowest ever for me. I am taking the once-weekly 1 mg dose. I have experienced loss of appetite, constipation, and depression. I have had sciatica and piriformis pain since July 2022 to the extent that I can barely stand or walk for five minutes. An MRI shows that I have issues with L4, L5, and S1. The pain has not subsided with physical therapy or a piriformis injection. I am now thinking that this pain is one of the side effects of Ozempic. I have had lower back pain on and off for years but never to the extent that I have now. It has seriously affected the quality of my life; I realize that the depression and anxiety are byproducts of a bad quality of life. I am suggesting that this severe pain that I am experiencing could be a side effect of Ozempic since that drug is the only change in my medical plan."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Ozempic at 0.25 mg weekly 6 months ago and have gradually increased to 1.0 mg weekly. I did experience very mild nausea at first, but I paid attention to my body and just ate less. I have experienced some constipation and have taken over-the-counter medication for that. I have lost just under 4 pounds a month for the last 5 months. I need about 30 percent less insulin. My appetite has decreased. I eat less at meals and rarely snack. My A1c is under 7. For me, Ozempic has caused a significant improvement in my life."
