For Type 2 Diabetes "A miracle drug! I have been on Ozempic for 7 months and have lost 43 pounds. Ozempic destroys my appetite. I feel 'full' most of the time, so when I do eat, I eat small portions. There is the occasional bout of mild nausea, but no vomiting. A very small price to pay! I also find that I burp more than normal. I attribute all of this to the lack of stomach emptying effect of Ozempic. My sugar level has gone down, but not as much as I thought it would with a 40-pound loss of weight (I weigh 228 now). I am hoping to lose another 20 pounds at least and am hopeful that will reduce my sugar numbers."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started out taking 0.25 for 4 weeks, then the 5th week went to 0.50. The next day I was vomiting, had diarrhea, and sulfur burps. Couldn't hold anything down, not even water. Went to the ER the 2nd day to get IV fluids. Called the manufacturer and put in a report. They sent me a mailer to return the pen for evaluation. I am keeping a record of the lot # before I mail the pen back. I am taking a nausea pill and experiencing severe cramps and diarrhea, but the vomiting has stopped. Haven't had any solid food for 4 days, trying to eat Jell-O and applesauce and can barely get it down. So wished I would have read these reviews before I bumped it to 0.5. My diabetes doctor said to decrease. I am going to stop taking it. I have no spleen, so it is difficult to manage all these side effects. Hoping and praying I can start to feel better soon."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started Ozempic and did pretty well on the .25 dose, but when I went to .5, things got bad fast. Absolutely the worst burps that eventually have me vomiting. Cannot find any relief from the nasty burps until finally throwing up. I had terrible headaches, and it felt like I had the flu-just completely exhausted. I am done with this medication, and I had high hopes for it. Hope everyone has a better experience."

"I've been on Ozempic for about 2 to 2.5 months now. So far, no weight loss, but horrible gas. I burp all the time, and my stomach gets so bloated. Sometimes it's sulfur burps, but others, it's just a lot of plain gas. I get a lot of gas coming out the other end too. On the advice of my doctor, I waited a few weeks extra to up my dose from 0.25 to 0.5. My appetite has gone down, but the gas is still so bad that my clothes fit worse than before! I'm on week 3 of the 0.5 and waiting for it to get better. I have a follow-up appointment in mid-July."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Ozempic worked well for me to lower blood sugar and cravings with few side effects. However, the drug removed any enjoyment of life in general for me as well. After 6 months, I had severe depression. I take 2 antidepressants already and am fairly upbeat and happy. Had to stop Ozempic, and it took a few months to regain a positive outlook. Also, food left the stomach so slowly that it would ferment and cause awful sulfur burps and flatulence. 1 ml/weekly."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started taking this med about a month ago and not sure I will stick with it. After 2 weeks, stomach cramping and some constipation started, but the worst of it all is the stress I am having with horrible sulfur burps. The smell is so horrible that even the smallest of burps can linger in a room for minutes, and you can really clear a room. I have had to have Febreeze Air Fresheners nearby at all times. If I feel a burp coming in the middle of the night, I literally run to the bathroom as it is really very unpleasant for my spouse and it really embarrasses me even after 27 years of marriage as it’s that bad! We just lowered my dose to 0.25 mg, but if the sulfur burps remain, that will seal the deal and I will stop it. Have lost 10 pounds over the month too as appetite is shot, and I’m not sure that’s really the best way to lose weight if you can barely eat at all."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This medication has made me so sick. I’m on 0.25, and I have been on it a month. Every week, 2 days after injection, I get really bad burps. They smell like rotten eggs, I get a headache, I can’t eat. I was so excited to take this because of all the weight loss stories, however, the side effects for me are terrible. I’m going to stop it and just continue with my metformin."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "Started 2 months ago on .25 mg x 1 month and then .5 mg x 1 month and now on 1 mg x 1 week. Awful diarrhea for this entire period along with sulfur burps and nauseated stomach. I am 9 weeks into this course of treatment and have not experienced any relief from gut upset. I am abandoning this drug for weight loss purposes, having only lost 5 lbs during this time. I had been on a keto diet prior and had lost 8 lbs over 3 weeks. I intend to return to the keto diet once my gut returns to normal. I feel exhausted, unwell, and very disappointed with this drug."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Sulfur burps (like eggs), terrible gas, confusion, diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. Anxiety led to severe panic attacks. I did lose weight, but its side effects are not worth it. It caused me food aversion. Eating and drinking became a chore. My dose was increased each week by 0.25 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have taken 7 doses of Ozempic. The first week wasn't too bad. A little nausea and fatigue. I did feel like my food stuck in my throat, and every time I burped, there it was. As I continued to take it each week, the side effects got worse. I was just diagnosed with diabetes in May, and since then, I've been able to come off of my insulin on my own, before Ozempic. I still take Metformin twice a day. This past week, the seventh dose made me so sick! If I wasn't nauseous every day, I was running to the bathroom at all hours of the day and night. I had horrible heartburn, gas, burping, jitters, and dizziness the whole time and thought I could continue, but after this past week, my doctor said to come off of it. It will take a while to get out of my system, I know, but I hope it does so quickly. I need my life back!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Ozempic for 2 months. Serious diarrhea and increased my acid reflux quite a bit. Very unpleasant burping. I have lost 4 pounds, and I am seldom hungry, I eat out of habit and stress relief. My symptoms are not severe, but I simply feel miserable, like the flu. I want to give the drug more time to see if I start feeling better, but it is so tempting to trash the stuff. My morning blood sugars are pretty good, I will get an A1C letter this month, and I expect it to be down. I hope that will be an incentive to stay with the drug."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My very first injection has made me deathly ill. The nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, most intense hunger pains, cramping, sulfur burps that make you want to throw up, and just generally feeling miserable. The thought of food most of the time has made me want to throw up. I can't take my other meds most of the time because I end up vomiting. All this while trying to work full time. I have tried Trulicity, which made me very sick, Victoza put me in the emergency room. Ozempic has me close to the emergency room if I end up dehydrated. This is how I imagine being poisoned would feel like. Medicine should not make you feel this bad. No illness that I have had has made me feel this horrible. If you have any kind of stomach issues, really, I have GERD, think twice before injecting this nasty 'medication.'"

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor prescribed Ozempic for me at the beginning of January, starting at the .25 mg dose and working up to the 1 mg dose, which I have been on for a few weeks now. I have seen noticeable improvements in my glucose levels, which are now at a normal range, which they had not been for years. It was also prescribed to help with weight loss. I have not found it to be particularly helpful in this regard. I am losing small amounts of weight, but a lot of this has to do with a modified diet that is conducive to weight loss. The side effects I have experienced and continue to experience are stomach cramps and diarrhea, sulfur burps, some constipation, lightheadedness, and dizziness, which is the worst one for me. I was at the hairdresser today, and on leaving I almost passed out and had to go back inside to sit down, and there was a big fuss, etc., etc. It was very embarrassing and scary. I so desperately want to lose weight and think that it will eventually work for me, so I am going to keep taking it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Only problem I had with Ozempic was when I ate late. (Lesson learned.) All the issues were present: nauseous, bloated, burps. Appetite has decreased along with my blood sugar levels. After 23 years of management of a chronic condition, diabetes. This medication, along with Lantus and Novolog, sliding scale, has helped tremendously. Put myself on insulin 15 years ago, the cleanest form of control. But have tried additional oral meds with side effects. Lizard spit (Byetta). Management requires trying new medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I’m having good results as far as the type 2 diabetes. I’m losing weight, which is always a good thing. At this time, I’ve lost 20 lbs in 9 weeks. My current dose is .50 once a week. As for the side effects, I’m tolerating the medication well. No horrible symptoms, but the burping and flatulence are terrible. I’ve never dealt with anything like it. But it’s worth the little amount of nuance it causes."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am in my late 50s, but I feel young for my age. I have always maintained a decent body, but my health has deteriorated over the years. I gained more weight than I should have due to a prescription drug called Seroquel that I was taking under the care of my previous doctor. However, my new doctor discovered that I had borderline type 2 diabetes, and my legs were starting to hurt. Five weeks ago, I weighed 182 lbs, but I have now lost 23 lbs and weigh 159 lbs. This weight loss has been made possible by a medication called Ozempic, which has been a godsend for me. It does exactly what it promises to do by making me feel full throughout the day. Even if I eat a muffin in the morning, I cannot eat for the rest of the day. The only side effects I have experienced are sulfur burps, gas, and nausea two days after injection. I am supposed to increase my dosage to 1 mg, but I plan to stay on 5 mg for a few more weeks. I have noticed that a few days after my injection, which is every Wednesday, I feel sick, but I have not vomited. I have stocked up on Gravol and Gas-X, which have been very helpful. I am thrilled to have lost 30 lbs in just five weeks!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking it for over a month. No side effects for the first 2 weeks on the lower dose. Since I am using the higher dose now - I have had some very bad nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Also, lots of burping, and it smells terrible. When I have vomited - it is so much volume. More than any time in my life. It has reduced my appetite, but if I drink alcohol, it usually makes me physically sick."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor started me on .50, and I started the first day. The next day, I had burping, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and back pain. It’s been a week, and I’m still sick. My doctor stopped me from using this medication. I can’t recommend it for other people to use Ozempic, it has terrible side effects."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Ozempic at 0.025 mg for two months, primarily relying on meal replacements for diabetes twice a day along with a small amount of cereal (Grape Nuts). During those two months, I lost 30 pounds. However, I experienced dizzy spells because I was also taking high blood pressure medication. Once I stopped the blood pressure medication, the dizziness went away. I then increased my Ozempic dosage to 0.050 mg, and that's when things took a turn for the worse. I started having sulfur burps (long and frequent belching), excessive gas, diarrhea, and if I overate cereal, I would vomit. Even if I didn't eat anything, I would still experience vomiting. I lowered the insulin dosage, and it improved. After a month, I was able to handle the 0.050 mg dosage. Later, I increased it to 1 mg. At this point, I wasn't losing weight anymore, but I experienced hunger pains and started eating other things. On and off, I would have episodes of diarrhea, belching, and gas. Additionally, I started experiencing pain under both sides of my ribs, bloating, belching, diarrhea, and gas. I had blood work done, which revealed that my thyroid levels were significantly off. I am scheduled for an ultrasound to examine my thyroid, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and GI tract, among others."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I started on Ozempic when my health professional informed me I was pre-diabetic and had high cholesterol. Because I wanted to lose some weight, I asked her if I could try Ozempic, and she agreed to write the prescription for me. I've been on Ozempic since mid-April 2023, and I've had some success. I've lost 8 pounds since starting, but like many people, I've experienced nasty side effects, for example, sulfur burps, gas, and stomach discomfort. Although I've had these side effects, they have not been that serious, and I'm able to deal with them. I've tried increasing my dose to 0.5 mg, but the side effects got worse, and considering that my appetite and my cravings have decreased, I've decided to stay at 0.25 mg. I do find, however, that the day before my next dose, my appetite comes back. I need to be more mindful when that happens, and old habits are hard to change. I see a dietitian to help me plan balanced meals. In conclusion, I've stuck with Ozempic."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Been on Ozempic for almost a year now. Moved up the rank of doses and was on 1 mg for 6 months. The side effects I noticed mostly were the burping and constipation. Bathroom issues might be caused by another med. Lowered my levels substantially. Per my doctor, increased to 2 mg as of yesterday. So far, so good. Not interested in eating, but made myself eat some chicken noodle soup and really tired today. This med has worked for me in the best way possible. Eat small, frequent, light meals. Keep in contact with your doctor concerning your other meds. I am on 1000 mg Metformin, don't want levels dropping too low. You know your body and what is right for it. Sending my best to all."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 0.25 for four weeks, had nausea, dizziness, burping nonstop every day, off-the-wall gas, and bloating. Went on 0.5, more or less the same side effects except more abdominal pain. Then went to 1 mg, my skin started feeling like I had a bad sunburn from the waist up. It hurt when clothes touched it. Four weeks later, went on 2 mg. All same symptoms. Then I started having severe neck pain and shoulder pain. Was on 8 months and only lost 16 pounds. A1c went from 7.5 to 5.5, but a lot had to do with eating less. I have EPI, so it was not worth it to me to take it anymore. Also, thyroid cancer runs in my family. Had a friend tell me her friend got thyroid cancer after 3 months, also had a lot of diarrhea. Now I'm off, no symptoms, skin feels better, and sugar around 130."

For Type 2 Diabetes "After 4-6 weeks, I still suffer various levels of intensities of nausea, but short-lived diarrhea, plenty of burping, and fatigue that is often overwhelming. Some days, no problems. I manage the symptoms by enduring until they ease up, or I may choose to seek fast relief using what's available. Its benefits are now close to 'tight control' and significant weight loss (overcoming the stagnant plateau of a period of weight loss)."
