Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "I took a cruise on Doubtful Sound in New Zealand. The cruise down and back up the Sound was fine, and I probably didn't need any kind of motion sickness medication for that. But they went out into the Tasman Sea for about 1/2 hour. It was a beautiful, sunny autumn day, but it became clear within 3-4 minutes that the Transderm-Scop was not working at all in open ocean waters... which is where I really needed this to work. I used this med successfully many years ago, so it makes me think something has changed. Disappointing!"

For Motion Sickness "Do not use this! Our whole party of 7 had an adverse reaction. Dilated pupils, blurry vision. All-around sick feeling. This is 4 days after we removed it. I took this med before without problems, this time was much different. Never again."

For Motion Sickness "This worked wonders for offshore sailing in our sailboat. It significantly reduced motion sickness! The only side effect was dry mouth. But who shouldn't be drinking more water? Especially when you live outdoors on a sailboat!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "My doctor used this right before surgery and 3 days after. I normally get so sick from general anesthesia, but with this patch on, I never once got that nausea feeling. It worked like a charm! I took it off today and got a slight headache, I'm guessing just slight withdrawal."

Scopolamine for Nausea/Vomiting "It didn't work so well for me. I had the patch worn behind the ear for 3 days. The patch stays in place even after showering, which surprised me. Just wish it worked better. The vomiting decreased, but left me with endless dry heaves and mad hiccups."

Scopolamine for Nausea/Vomiting "I used this patch for my surgery, and I didn't get sick like I normally do after a surgery. I will use it again for sure if I have a procedure or surgery done again. It's so nice to NOT wake up vomiting!"

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "The reason I'm giving it a 9 instead of 10 is because of its side effects. Otherwise, this patch works really well for an overnight or two-day fishing trip (at least in my experience). I thought I was getting cold and feeling sick after I got off the fishing boat because my throat was getting dry and drier and drier. At that time, I wasn't aware that one of its side effects was dry mouth/throat. Aside from that, I didn't feel anything anymore after a couple of days. I'll use it again for my next fishing trip. I'll opt for a dry throat versus getting sick on the boat."

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "So it worked... I normally suffer from motion sickness in cars if I'm not driving. I decided to put the patch on before a 14-hour long international flight... I didn't suffer from any motion sickness, but it made me illiterate! I could see fine except for letters and numbers (or basic shapes). So I get to the airport at my destination in Uganda, and going through customs, I needed to fill out a basic form about the reason for my visit, etc... only I couldn't read it to save my life! I'd use it again in an emergency, but be aware of the potential side effects."

For Nausea/Vomiting "This medication was prescribed to me for anti-nausea. It was the worst experience of my life. I had everything from dizziness to vision problems and cognitive issues. It didn’t even completely help with the motion sickness. Vision problems continued even after I stopped using this medication to the point where I had to get glasses, and to this day seems to be progressing. Do not recommend."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was given this patch after telling my doctor that many medications make me nauseous, and I was worried about waking up from the procedure feeling sick. They put the patch on me, and soon after, I was wheeled into surgery. As soon as I woke up, I vomited a few times. This possibly could have been prevented if given the patch earlier, not right before surgery. I was told I could keep the patch on for 3 days. I took it off after 72 hours of having it on, and within an hour, I was a complete mess. I could barely walk and felt extremely sick. It felt as though I overdosed. It was a very scary experience. I came to discover that this medicine has a syndrome connected to it. After being frightened for several hours, I did some research online. I started taking Zoloft to combat the effects of the last medicine. I felt better 24 hours later."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I recently had a lumbar discectomy on my L4, L5, and L5-S1. I have had terrible nausea and motion sickness after anesthesia in the past to the point of losing consciousness on my way home. I made sure to ask for something to keep me from feeling so terrible, if they could. Aside from IV medications provided, they also put the scopolamine patch on me. It has done WONDERFUL things! I have had no nausea or motion sickness. I have been really sleepy, but other than that, I couldn't be happier! My doctor said I can take off the patch tomorrow, and I will be leaving it in place until then :)"

For Motion Sickness "I had used this patch that was meant for a 3-day cruise. Once it finally kicked in, I felt so dizzy I felt I was going to fall down. I just chalked it up to the nausea from seasickness. I started to get sick, not able to eat or enjoy any activities on our cruise. My bf suggested it might be the patch causing the nausea, not seasickness. I took the patch off, and it was so much better! I wasn’t nauseous or as dizzy anymore. I was extremely disappointed with this medication. My doctor also mentioned that if you use this medication, you could get withdrawal symptoms once you stop taking it. Glad I didn’t use it for the whole 3 days!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have a history of postoperative nausea, and right before having general anesthesia, the nurse put one of these patches behind my ear. She told me to leave it on for three days and that there are typically no side effects, just some slight dizziness. After surgery, I had no nausea. I removed the patch after the second day because I had read about possible withdrawal symptoms and didn't want to get them. Sure enough, after about 9 hours, I woke up in the middle of the night nauseous and dry heaving. Other side effects I had were extreme dry mouth, blurred vision, and hallucinations. Nausea lasted for several days, and I took Dramamine and Zofran to try and fight it. It wasn't worth the benefit, in my opinion."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have had the scopolamine patch a few times now, but I was given them to control the nausea/vomiting after surgery. The first time I had it was in January 2014 when I had surgery. I took off the patch 3 days later, and I ended up in the hospital for uncontrollable vomiting about 24 hours after the patch came off. However, neither me nor the doctors connected it to the patch. In November 2014, I had to have emergency surgery. I was given the patch again, 3 days later, I took off the patch. 48 hours later, I was in the ER and admitted that night for uncontrollable nausea/vomiting. Saturday night, they put the patch back on. I took the patch off Wednesday, now I'm waiting to see what happens. Noticeable side effects: dilated pupils and blurry vision. Huge problem for me."

For Motion Sickness "As someone who gets sick looking at water and rides that go around and around, this patch was great for my first cruise. The boat swayed, and I felt nothing. Thirty-six hours after the patch was removed, after using it for eight days, switching out a new one after four days, I feel horrid. My nausea is constant, and I am on day three of the patch being removed. I am also suffering from severe exhaustion. I had blurred vision, but that was much better to deal with than motion sickness. Will I use it again? Not sure. I have not thrown up, and I don't have severe headaches, so maybe the end justifies the means."

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "I suffer from motion sickness and was prescribed this. I've used it twice now on weekend car trips, and it works great. I didn't suffer any motion sickness symptoms. I look forward to trying it out at the amusement parks this summer, as I haven't enjoyed them in years due to motion sickness."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Never again!! They put the patch behind my left ear prior to hysterectomy, and 5 weeks later my left eye still has double vision and ptosis (droopy eyelid). Ophthalmologist says I got a massive dose of it into my eye through my bloodstream. He had never seen it last so long and impact such deep muscles. It paralyzes your eye muscles!!! When I left the hospital, my left eye was completely closed and stayed that way for over a week. Oh, and I vomited on the way out, too. So angry!"

For Motion Sickness "I was given this drug for abdominal surgery. As a patch. Within 6 hours, I couldn’t see texts on my phone. Took the patch off 24 hours ago and still can’t see close letters. The blurry vision is terrible. Avoid at all costs."

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "This drug completely changed my experience of deep sea fishing trips and being on the boat in general. I applied the patch before bed so that it would be in full effect by the next morning. Only side effects upon waking were mild imbalance and incoordination, but this went away after eating a breakfast sandwich and coffee. I only began to feel a little sleepy/drowsy on the way home, which I believe is pretty normal for anyone exposed to that much motion at one time (the sunburn, heat, and humidity I’m sure exacerbated it). Through all of this, the patch stayed on great, but I did not swim. I’m 5’1”, 123 lb, 22-year-old female, and the dosing was fine for me. Do not cut the patch in half if you feel this to be necessary (which it may be if you are below 100 lbs like my friend who did experience side effects). Please just keep half of the backing on the patch to seal the other side, then use surgical tape from your first aid kit to make sure that it doesn't flop around."

For Motion Sickness "I used two scopolamine patches over the course of eight days and avoided motion sickness during my vacation. After taking the patch off, I have become miserably sick. Vomiting, nausea, dizziness, and headaches. I can't even get out of bed, and it's been three days! I have used this medication before for single-day events- a fishing trip, snorkeling, and long bus rides successfully with no side effects- but only left the patch on for the duration of the event- less than 12 hours. I will never leave a patch on for more than a day again. I have never felt so sick in my life! This medication does what it is supposed to, but the withdrawals are worse than any motion sickness one could possibly have."

For Motion Sickness "I have used these patches for several years for 1-2 cruises per year. I get seasick just looking at a boat, but these patches allow me to have a comfortable trip. I have used these for 4-10 day trips with mild side effects of a very dry mouth, fatigue, and poor up-close vision - I'm willing to deal with these side effects in order to enjoy trips to Alaska, the Caribbean, and New Zealand. Without this, I could not go. The Scopace pills make me so sleepy I cannot stay awake at all. Dramamine does nothing to alleviate my symptoms."

For Motion Sickness "I used this for 9 days [3 patches] and won't use it again! It worked for seasickness, but I was getting very tired by the 6th day. I have been off it for 10 days and still not feeling right. Some of my side effects are extremely tired, confusion, blurred vision, weakness, and not being able to get back to doing what I did before! I have needed a vacation from my 'vacation'! No more cruise ships for me!"

For Motion Sickness "I applied a patch as directed approximately 12 hours before heading out on a fishing charter in Prince William Sound. As soon as the boat stopped moving and we began stationary fishing in rollers, I became violently ill. I vomited consistently for 8 hours, could not maintain my balance, and experienced no respite. I've never been so sick in my life. The medication did nothing for me at all, and yet I was banking on its effectiveness."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I had the patch applied to the back of my ear before my D&C. I was told it could be left on for 3 days. During those three days, I experienced neck pain and a very bad headache for the three days. So on the third day, I mentioned the bad headache to my daughter, and she asked if I was still wearing the patch. I said I was, and she mentioned that was probably the cause of my headache. I rarely get a headache. After researching a little, I found this was a side effect. My headache has lessened a lot, but not completely better. You really do have to do your own research on everything. Not happy at all that I was told to keep this on for 3 days. TOTALLY UNNECESSARY."

For Motion Sickness "Have used Scopaderm patches for around 10 years for travel sickness with only minor side effects (dry mouth, sleepy). Don’t know what they have changed with ingredients/dosage, but the last ones I had made me feel really ill while using, and I had terrible balance, motion sickness after I came off the ship & no longer had the patch on, which lasted for a week. Gutted as they were originally a game changer for me."
