Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "3/20/19. I am a 47-year-old female. I tried the Transderm-Scop patch to help with motion sickness on thrill rides. The first patch fell off that night, so I placed a new patch on the following morning and wore it for 1 1/2 days. I took it off mid-day as it was irritating my skin. Up to that point, I was very pleased to be nausea-free. Things changed about 8 hours after taking off the patch. Stationary objects in my house began to twist and turn very slowly. For example, my computer monitor appeared to turn my direction, and my ceiling fan blades moved like octopus tentacles. I looked up side effects and read that it can cause hallucinations. Unfortunately, it is still happening 12 hrs later. Now my pupils are slightly dilated, and I'm seeing double, along with slight nausea and a headache. The effectiveness of the medication during use does not outweigh these side effects. It is rather scary to see things that you know are not real, but yet have no control over them."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Do not take scopolamine! It feels like it is poisoning my body. I was given the transdermal patch during an ER visit for un-retractable Ménière’s disease, vertigo, and vomiting. I had never heard of the med before. The doctor said it was a safe option that worked fast. It stopped my vomiting instantly along with making me so drowsy I couldn’t stand and had to be wheeled to the car. I slept for 48 hours straight, while just having the energy to make it to the bathroom. I removed the patch after 48 hours and proceeded to get dry heaves, a horrible rash on my hands and feet (like I had been burned). Anxiety, hallucinations, insomnia, eye pain, dizziness, body aches, and muscle spasms. Still in bed suffering. I can’t imagine what would have happened if I left the patch on for the additional allotted day."

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "The first few times I used the patch, I thought it was a godsend. However, this last time I used it on a 6-hour flight, I began to have blurred vision, extreme dry mouth. The scariest side effect was hallucinations. I did not know who I was or where I was. Thank goodness I was not traveling alone. Dangerous. Will never use again!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "Had this with knee replacement surgery. Had horrible psychosis. Was hallucinating and paranoid and not aware of surroundings. Horrible feelings that I had no control over. Beware of using this drug. No one warned me of this as a possible side effect. Will NEVER use again."

For Motion Sickness "BEWARE DRUG INTERACTIONS. This is an over-the-counter medication, however, no warning from the pharmacist in regards to taking other medications. Took for a 7-day cruise. First couple of days were okay, the 3rd day started hallucinating, dry mouth, dilated pupils. Was also taking antihistamines for allergies, the side effects are far worse than actual motion sickness. By day 5, couldn't swallow, was dehydrated, went to the cruise doctor, and had to get epi-penned. ($3,900 visit.) This was an extreme reaction, but please beware and don't give to children. Took a couple of weeks to get over the symptoms, by far the worst drug I've ever taken."

For Motion Sickness "I have now had two experiences taking this patch. The first time was for a three-day boat excursion. I get motion sickness really bad, so I had a patch for the duration of our trip and was totally fine. I was so impressed with the patch and would have sworn by it. However! I just used it again for the second time this past weekend, and I have been completely miserable ever since. I took it due to a trip to Disneyland and Universal Studios, and I wanted to be able to ride the rides. Not only did it not work, but I felt nauseous, dizzy, lightheaded, and had extremely bad blurred vision by the end of the trip. My mouth got so dry I could barely swallow. It’s as if any moisture throughout my mouth and esophagus has been sucked dry. I was scared to eat because it felt like I was going to choke. I’ve had the patch off for almost 48 hours and am still bedridden from headaches, nausea, paranoia, memory loss, and just an all-around mental confusion. I’m out of work and miserable."

For Nausea/Vomiting "This patch gave me very scary side effects like blurred vision, extreme dizziness, paranoia, and extreme numb tingling of my extremities. I wore it for less than 24 hours. Didn't even help with the post-op nausea."

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "I get extremely motion sick on any kind of moving things, and I was booked on a flight when weather conditions were far from good. I was nervous, so I used the patch. Halfway through my trip home, my plans changed to overnight and continued on the next day. I removed the patch, washing my skin behind my ear and thinking that would be enough since I had only been wearing it maybe five hours or less. The next morning, I put on a new patch, MISTAKE! Then to make it worse, I took a Dramamine, MISTAKE! Drug interactions were terrible. I started hallucinating on the flight, and it continued through the evening. Seeing people that weren't there, etc. I had not checked to see if there were any drug interactions before I took the Dramamine. I am guessing that even applying the second patch was not that smart either. Lesson learned! However, I was not sick on some extremely bumpy flights, but I was saying all kinds of crazy things and getting some very weird looks from fellow passengers... lol."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have a history of postoperative nausea, and right before having general anesthesia, the nurse put one of these patches behind my ear. She told me to leave it on for three days and that there are typically no side effects, just some slight dizziness. After surgery, I had no nausea. I removed the patch after the second day because I had read about possible withdrawal symptoms and didn't want to get them. Sure enough, after about 9 hours, I woke up in the middle of the night nauseous and dry heaving. Other side effects I had were extreme dry mouth, blurred vision, and hallucinations. Nausea lasted for several days, and I took Dramamine and Zofran to try and fight it. It wasn't worth the benefit, in my opinion."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I'm giving this 10 stars, so hopefully, this review is at the top. This medicine is already pulled off the market via pill form due to the side effects, and I believe the patch should also be pulled or at least labeled black box for how dangerous this drug is. I almost died last night from the withdrawals. I had a 72-hour extended release, I had surgery that went fine. While on the medicine, I felt great, however, I experienced urinary retention. I had to go to the hospital to get a catheter. While at the hospital, the nurses informed me that this is common for this drug and not to worry, to take off the patch. So I did, and I went home. A few hours later, I started to have withdrawal symptoms for something that was only in my system for 24 hours. I have never experienced withdrawals ever. My blood pressure dropped, and my heart rate did too, all the way down to 40 bpm. I started shaking and fainted. Once I was awake, I was nauseous and about to puke, then the hallucinations started."

For Motion Sickness "I put the patch on the night before a planned mountain excursion. The morning I woke up, my vision was extremely blurry (couldn't read), I had severely compromised mobility (stumbling and tripping), decreased ability to comprehend what was being said to me, as well as a very dry mouth. I also began hallucinating, so I took the patch off. Within 1 hour, I started to feel a little more in control, and after 10 hours, the side effects seemed to be gone. I had the patch on for a total of 8 hours, and felt like the patch was WAY too strong - to the point of overdose. I made sure to wash my hands after putting on the patch. I also take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, propranolol 60 mg for migraines, and Zyrtec."
