Rivaroxaban for Atrial Fibrillation "For me, every one of these blood thinners is poison and full of side effects. I have blood in my stool, shortness of breath, rash, stomach pain, blood pressure spikes. But hey, no stroke, just no life. I've tried a few and they are all poison to me."

Rivaroxaban for Atrial Fibrillation "The drug works. It thins your blood! I've been on Xarelto for 1 year and am quitting it. I have a loop monitor for 6 months and no AFib. One doctor says to quit it, while another says to stay on it. Some score they use says I can quit, so that's what I'm going to do. In the first six months, I had some muscle pain, but I blamed Lipitor. I started to get blurry vision, so the eye doctor said everything was fine. Now I'm a year in. I have 2 large bruises on both legs and my big toe just recently for really no apparent reason. I have nosebleeds almost daily, muscle pain in my bicep and upper back, along with a heavy feeling in my legs when walking. Shortness of breath comes out of nowhere and lasts less than an hour, it happens on occasion. I quit, and so far, the muscle pain has subsided."

Rivaroxaban for Atrial Fibrillation "Light pink bleeding from my throat and sores on tongue. Sore and cramps in feet and legs. Pink blood in nose also. Tingling in fingers. Sore arms, stiff neck. Stomach pain that goes to my back. Shortness of breath."

Rivaroxaban for Atrial Fibrillation "Xarelto is very effective in providing an anticoagulant effect. For me, that resulted in almost uncontrollable nosebleeds (up to 14 hours) and 3-5 hours for very minor skin scratches. But the worst outcomes were the side effects: consistent headaches; severe shortness of breath; depression; bad mood (extremely grouchy); stomach aches; and constipation. I do not recommend this medicine to anyone. Warfarin ($6.00/month) is easy to manage, and it has almost NO side effects."

Rivaroxaban for Deep Vein Thrombosis "This drug sent me insane. Recently had DVT in arm. 1st tablet caused burning nerves in face and spine, rushed to A&E, who were dumbfounded. Within 1 week, I was pacing the house all night. Heart racing severely. Anxiety out of control (never suffered from anxiety). Week 2, lips and mouth burning. Anxiety and heart rate worse. Week 3, pacing house 16 hours a day, paranoia, intense pressure in head, muscle spasms, unable to close eyes. Nerves on skin. Reduced dose didn't help improve situation. Eventually, the doctor switched me to Eliquis, which I'm absolutely fine on. I believe this drug is okay for a lot of people, however, if you have a reaction, it's severe. Lost over a stone in 3 weeks, hyperventilated daily, my behavior and personality changed dramatically. Within 48 hours on Eliquis, all symptoms ceased. I'll be reporting this drug, as having done some research, I've found it can cause anxiety, paranoia, and muscle spasms, which are not listed in the literature."

Rivaroxaban for Pulmonary Embolism "When I became ill over a year ago and developed blood clots in my lungs (P.E.), my doctor put me on XARELTO 20 MG. I have not developed any more blood clots, Xarelto took care of the blood clots. Occasionally, I do get some side effects: dizziness, shortness of breath, and aches, and a little bit of pain in my legs. I can overlook these, considering that Xarelto takes care of the blood clots in my lungs, so I'm still here, living a normal life, doing the things that I enjoy. All medications have side effects."

Rivaroxaban for Pulmonary Embolism "In answer to the change of health after going from 30 mg a day to 20 mg: I was diagnosed with a massive saddle PE on May 1, 2016, after having uncontrolled sweating with subsequent shortness of breath. 911 call, ER, BP 60/40 w/pulse 130-160. Doctor said surprised I made it to the hospital. Healthy, active 56 yr old released after an overnight stay with 6 mos Xarelto therapy. Was fine with 21 days 15 mg 2x a day; 20 mg change made me feel like I was dying. Realized it was too much for my system at one time; cut the pill in half & took 1/2 2x a day--still got my 20 mg & felt good again. Finished with treatment for the moment; since it was unprovoked, they've done extensive tests to find I have Factor 5. Waiting to see how 2.5 mg Eliquis 2x a day 6 mos works; just started."

Rivaroxaban for Pulmonary Embolism "I've been on 20 mg Xarelto for 6 months after a pulmonary embolism, short of breath when walking up hills still. Very occasionally, an elbow joint will hurt, and a few times I've had a sore throat. Swelling pretty much gone in left ankle. I think it works for me. I'm still alive."

Rivaroxaban for Pulmonary Embolism "Had bilateral acute PE. Barely a month has passed, but I think I am doing okay with Rivaroxaban. I experienced very heavy menstruation and still have labored breathing here and there, but apart from that, I am happy with the medication. I am now back to work on a part-time basis (very supportive employer), and hopefully will be strong enough to be back full-time soon."

Rivaroxaban for Congenital Heart Disease "Hair fell out in batches, shortness of breath all day, low energy, sleep issues, and sex drive down. Most like testosterone was affected. I was on for 4 months and now on Plavix. I was unable to play sports as the first 3 minutes was unbearable because of the shortness of breath. I also had issues with Brilinta. Now on Plavix for 10 days and the hair stopped falling out."

For Pulmonary Embolism "Got diagnosed with PE after a cat scan and have been taking this med for 2 weeks. The only side effects that bother me are the very aching back, it never goes away. Tylenol does help a bit. Also, my right arm at the bicep is like I overdid it in the gym, I have issues lifting my arm up above my shoulder. Another week to go, then I’m down to one pill per day. My breathing does seem a bit better and I don’t get the shortness of breath as often, but it is a small challenge. Can’t wait for it all to go away."

Rivaroxaban for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I have Afib, was put on Xarelto, and I just feel awful. Legs get very weak, and shortness of breath, and diarrhea, and no energy. I don't know what to do other than not take it."

Rivaroxaban for Atrial Fibrillation "Well, on Xarelto, I didn't have a stroke, but hair fell out a ton. Also, short of breath, and ears started ringing (tinnitus) and are driving me nuts. Never had an ear issue in my life before this drug. Been on it for 1 month after my first A Fib episode. Doctor said today I can get off it. I'm 70 years old."
