For Migraine "This is supposedly an oral dissolving tablet, but the pharmacist said to take it with a glass of water and swallow it. Thank God I did because no one told me it was peppermint. I am allergic to peppermint, and it burned like fire, made me nauseated to the point of wanting to throw up. Luckily, I had some Jell-O and ate that quickly and put out the fire. The migraine got worse. It did not work for me. I will never take this again."

For Migraine "Do not recommend this medicine. I only wish I had known it had an artificial sweetener before taking it. It explains why my body reacted so violently. Sumatriptan works great to treat my migraines, but my new neurologist was looking for a preventative solution. Apparently, Nurtec can be used that way, but first we needed to see how I’d react. Both times I took it at the onset of a migraine. The first time, I went straight to bed and woke up the next morning feeling slightly hungover. But then, nausea, diarrhea, and a weird headache for two days. Thought I’d give it one more try. Didn’t touch the headache, and about 36 hours later, horrific rebound headache. I have been in bed all day. Do not wish this on anyone."

For Migraine "Have had migraines for 40 years. First time taking Nurtec - took it at 7:00 pm (dinner was at 6:00 pm) - it dulled the migraine, but did not take it away completely - still sensitive to light and sound. Then it made me feel shaky. Went to bed feeling wrung out - just odd neurologically. At 2:30 am, vomited (mostly bile) in my sleep - which I have never experienced in my life before - thank goodness I was on my side, but still aspirated some. Burned my throat, mouth, sinuses, and esophagus so badly I was hoarse for days, along with awful heartburn and nausea also. Spoke with MD, and they were very alarmed at what happened - said definitely an allergic reaction. Have tried all the biologics (Emgality, Ajovy, etc.) - too many nasty side effects with them also. I'll stick with Imitrex and Botox."

For Migraine Prevention "My last migraine, I ended up in the ER with their migraine cocktail after multiple doses of Maxalt and Ubrelvy. Usually, those work fine. Today, when I took the Nurtec, I immediately got nauseous. Soon after, I was having dry heaves. Verdict still out."

For Migraine "I have had migraine with aura and without aura since I was 12. I had been taking triptans and Botox for migraine but was still having 8-12 migraines a month. Many lasted 3-4 days. I tried Nurtec as a preventative this week and was disappointed. The first 3 days I was headache-free, then the next three days I had a low-level migraine with vision problems. Nurtec didn’t stop the headache and other symptoms, it just tamped them down. I still had to take a triptan after waiting several hours without relief. The symptoms, while lessened, still were bad enough for me to feel slow and off-balance, have trouble reading, and feel nauseous."

For Migraine "I have cycles of migraines and occasionally, hemiplegic migraines. A smaller episode lasts 8 hours, but there are times they'll go on for weeks with repeated attacks back to back. I tried triptans, but they didn't help. I also tried Topamax, which was one of the worst experiences-didn't help, and the side effects were awful. So I was relieved to find that Nurtec works if I catch my migraine early enough (and eases the migraine if I'm already in one). No nausea so far. I find that my mouth feels a little strange sometimes, but it is mild. I don't get brain fog when I take this, which is the biggest plus. For me, I'll see benefits within 30 to 60 minutes. I also don't get tired or groggy. The only negatives: not sure how I would even begin to afford it without the copay card, the packaging is excessive, and it can be difficult to get at my pharmacy. But Nurtec was a game changer for my migraines."

For Migraine "I’ve had migraines for about 15 years, however, as I’ve gotten older, they have gotten worse. I don’t like taking pills, so I’m not on any preventatives. When I get an episode, I typically get really bad pain behind an eye, throbbing headache, and nausea and vomiting. The episodes last about 2-3 days, and I get them 2 times a month. It is horrific to feel this way. I take Naratriptan, but my doctor wanted me to try Nurtec. I just tried it for the first time a few hours ago. It did relieve most of the pain after about 2 hours. With that said, I still have some pain behind the eye and feel loopy, and you can only take 1 every 24 hours, this sucks! I think I will stick with Naratriptan doses for 3 days. I don’t get why they haven’t come out with medication that actually aborts it after one dose. This is so exhausting."

For Migraine "The first time I used Nurtec for migraine with aura, it relieved my headache within an hour, and I experienced mild nausea and dizziness. The next 3 times I used it for migraine with aura, the nausea and dizziness were more pronounced. The headache pain was lessened within an hour or so, but I got a second, much more severe headache with aura (rebound?) within 8 hours. These subsequent headaches lasted two plus days. I believe that the Nurtec caused these rebound headaches, and I will not use it again."

For Migraine "The first few times I tried Nurtec for a mild/moderate migraine, it worked. Definitely took longer to work than Imitrex, but I didn’t feel tired or nauseous at all. Woke up today with a migraine. Took a dose of Nurtec, no relief at all. I’m shocked and disappointed that Nurtec had no effect on my moderate/severe migraine today. Now I have to wait 24 hours after I took Nurtec in order to take Imitrex. My doctor said you cannot take Nurtec and Imitrex together! I’ll stick with the Imitrex from now on. It may take a couple of doses, knocks me out, but at least I know it works."

For Migraine Prevention "I've had migraines since I was a young child. My 2-3 migraine days a month became 3-4 migraine days a week with nausea, auras, speech, and cognitive issues. Sumatriptan gave minor relief and unwanted side effects. While taking Nurtec every other day for 2 months, I've had 2 minor migraines, one self-inflicted. I took an early dosage to treat the breakthrough migraine and adjusted my schedule accordingly. Sometimes migraines try to creep in just before the next dose. I still get some brain fog, but I'm not sure of the actual cause. No noticeable side effects! So happy not to miss work or life because I'm 'sleeping off' a migraine. Feels like a miracle. The disintegrating tablets are convenient, but the packaging is frustrating. The expense is terribly prohibitive. Wish my sis could try it. Currently, my insurance does not cover it, but I receive it at no cost. I would hate to lose access at this point. It's certainly not for everyone, but is a major relief for me."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been dealing with chronic migraines for most of my life and started taking this every other day (doctor recommended) after using it as an abortive medication, and migraines are popping up but manageable. My migraines tend to go on for days, and that is still happening, though muted by Nurtec. I still have to take the cocktail of ibuprofen and Tylenol to stop it often. It is my last option since I have tried literally all other medications. The nausea and other symptoms are always present. My family commented yesterday that I am not acting like myself. I’m feeling constantly tired, spaced out, slowed down, easily frazzled, having a hard time understanding what people are telling me, even in a text message. It’s even hard to make decisions as simple as ordering food at a restaurant. I read that Nurtec and Verapamil can interact with one another, and this may be what’s happening. I think I will stop Nurtec and just deal with the headaches."

For Migraine "I have tried 37 different medications and/or alternative therapies, and nothing has worked except Zomig. I have chronic daily intractable migraine (meaning I’m somewhere on the migraine continuum every single day). I get 12 Zomig tablets a month, and I need 2 tablets for it to be effective. That makes 6 days out of the month I could function. Finally, my doctor prescribed Nurtec as a preventative. I get 16 tablets per month. The first few times I used it, I was extremely sick to my stomach, but each time it seemed to decrease the nausea a tiny bit. As the days went by and my body acclimated to Nurtec ODT, it has become a lifesaver as a preventative. It reduces the acute pain, though not as much as I had hoped for. However, weirdly enough, the alternative day I don't take it, the medication works extremely well as a preventative. That day ends up being a low/no pain day. I have had migraines for 15 years, and Nurtec ODT has been the only thing able to actually reduce pain for acute migraine and lower/stop the pain when used as a preventive."

For Migraine Prevention "I love this medication. It doesn’t work every time, but my body has gotten too used to Sumatriptan, so I have to have an alternative. I also get Botox and Aimovig. I’m now using Nurtec as a preventative, so I take it every other day and have seen great results. I don’t get any nausea, but I love how it doesn’t make you tired like Sumatriptan does. I highly recommend you try it if your insurance covers it."

For Migraine "It took the edge off the pain, but onset was at least 2 hours. I had pretty severe nausea and indigestion, along with feeling like a zombie after taking. The abdominal distress lasted into the next day, along with a mild headache. Not really what I was hoping for, but I guess better than having severe migraine pain. I was able to function at subpar."

For Migraine "I’ve suffered from chronic daily migraines for 11 years and tried almost every migraine medication out there (triptans, anti-seizure, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, muscle relaxants, Botox, opioids, etc.). Only got partial success from the triptans. When the CGRP medications came out (finally!), my neurologist prescribed Nurtec. Nurtec has been life-changing for me. It gets rid of 99% of my migraines within an hour. I only take 3/4 of a pill, and I eat 4 crackers beforehand to ward off any nausea. No side effects with this approach. Nurtec has given me my life back!"

For Migraine "Side effects are worse than Imitrex, and the taste is awful. If this actually worked, I may have been able to deal with the fatigue, stomach pain, and nausea, but alas, it’s like popping a horribly flavored breath mint with no effect on headaches! No thanks."

For Migraine "Finally found something that actually works for my migraines. It has helped as soon as I feel one coming on and after I already have one. I get migraines so bad I usually have to sit in a dark room with ice packs on my head to avoid sounds and nausea. I am glad my insurance approved Nurtec."

For Migraine "I have tried Imitrex, propranolol, Topamax, nerve blocks, zombie, etc. for migraines, not to mention countless OTC meds. I have to say that Nurtec has been the best for me so far. It is the only medication I can take for relief and still carry on about my day. Triptans, like Imitrex, work but make me so nauseated and sleepy. I take Benadryl sometimes at night to help if I am still having some lingering pain. No real side effects for me, I do feel kind of irritable after taking it, but it could be because I am in pain waiting to feel better."

For Migraine "I used to get migraines around my cycle, maybe once or twice a month tops. But recently, it's become 1 to 2 a week. And they were bad, all day in bed, vomiting, pounding head, sensitivity to light and smell. Even moving was hard. I went to my PCP and told her I wanted to try this med if she agreed, and she did. She said it's usually not covered by insurance, though, and every time she prescribed it, no patients were able to actually get it, so I didn't have my hopes up. But I went online and downloaded the $0 copay card, and to my surprise, at the pharmacy they apparently had used their own for me, and it was $0. I had a migraine that day, but it wasn't as severe. I had the pain in my head and eye and nausea. I came home and took the med, and was still pretty nauseous, but to my surprise, about an hour later, I felt all better. I thought it was a fluke. I tried the Nurtec again after suffering through a migraine all day, and it worked again. Two more times I've used it, and it works! Miracle drug? Perhaps!"

For Migraine "This morning, I took Nurtec for the first time. I was awakened by the start of a migraine. Since nausea is listed as one of the effects, I made sure to eat something, like a piece of bread, before taking the medication. After waiting for a short while, I took the Nurtec. Well, my headache had disappeared by the time I arrived at work thirty minutes later. No nausea, no acid reflux, no stomach ache. I find that something light like a slice of bread, or crackers, can help prevent or reduce issues caused by some medications. Nurtec worked!"

For Migraine "I was extremely impressed that anything worked at even alleviating migraine pain, but it did. Not “puff”; it’s gone, but within 1/2 hr I gradually felt “MY recovery” phase started. No nausea. Distant hungover feeling. So, yes. It worked. Not 100%. But, I felt average/normal 3-4 hrs after ingesting Nurtec ODT for migraine headache pain and nausea. No longer light, sound oversensitive. Yeah! WARNING! KIDNEY STONES! I received a diagnosis of multiple kidney stones shortly after a few doses of Nurtec ODT. Three months of continuous kidney stone movements found Nurtec ODT lists KIDNEY STONES as a side effect. STOPPED taking it immediately! (Weird side effect). Rechecked information. Confirmed. So, you decide whether to (a) A possible kidney full of stones and very good migraine relief. OR (b) try similar CGRP category newer migraine treatment. READ drug information, ask questions. I have hope with these new drugs more than past treatments and medications. HOPE!"

For Migraine "My neurologist recommended Nurtec to me after having more than 15 migraines in one month for the last few years. Easy to take, which I loved, and within an hour of it dissolving, it brought immediate relief. I love the taste too. I take it every other day as a preventative. No side effects, which was nice. No nausea, no abdominal cramping. I'm a little worried, though, because I missed one dose, and my headaches hit hard that day. So hopefully, I can take this medication long-term. It's the only medicine that has helped me. But all in all, it is a great medicine for me. Would recommend."

For Migraine "I have been on Aimovig 140 for almost two years now and have only had very minor migraines without aura during my time on it. Today, however, I woke up with my aura (tunnel vision), and I tried my first Nurtec and prophylactically took a Zofran because I’ve read it can make you nauseated. Nurtec definitely made a difference, I still had slight pain for about 5 hours (my migraines typically last much, much longer than that), and the best part is I was functional, no light sensitivity, no sound sensitivity, nada. Just a slightly uncomfortable headache that has since gone away. Now just the post-migraine “hangover,” which I can deal with. I just hope any subsequent times I need to take Nurtec are just like this first time taking it."

For Migraine "Tried a sample since the pharmacy tech suggested it when I was having trouble getting my #1 meds after an insurance company switch. NURTEC helped the migraine after an hour, but left me dizzy and lethargic. The migraine was never fully relieved. The second time I took NURTEC, I experienced nausea. Again, the headache was never fully relieved, and I felt very dizzy and lethargic. I was able to obtain a few tablets from the pharmacy for free, but now I am second-guessing if I should even try one of them. I have a huge rash on the right side of my face, and until now, I hadn't considered that it might be from NURTEC. I've never had a case of poison ivy or anything like that, but this is what it looks and feels like. Overall, since the drug did somewhat effectively relieve the migraine headache, I might take it again, but I certainly would not pick it if I could get the stuff I know that really works for me."
