For Migraine "Nurtec has worked great for me. I am a daily chronic migraine sufferer. I have tried a lot of preventative and acute medications over the years. A lot of preventatives work in the beginning, but their effectiveness wanes over time. A lot of the acute medications I’ve tried have worked only partially, half of the time, not at all, or have side effects that are comparable to the migraine. I can only use Phenergan and Aleve, 3-4 times a week combined, so I’m often left stranded in a bad week. I also get nerve block injections every 3 months. However, Nurtec works every time, beautifully. It takes at least 45 minutes to kick in, but it finishes the headache 90% of the time. The other 10%, it takes it away most of the way and it never comes back stronger than that. I would like to take it as a preventative if my neuro would allow it."

For Migraine "I am compelled to write a review because this medication eliminates my migraines for days. For the past 2 decades, I would experience frequent periods when I would get daily migraines. One dose of this medication absolutely eliminates my headaches for days on end. Amazing."

For Migraine "Minimal relief. Exorbitant copay of $370 with insurance coverage. Unable to take triptans due to brain aneurysms. Other CGRPs pretty much worthless. Botox helps, but wears off in about four weeks. Lidocaine injections help for a few hours. Wish they would just give me a big dose of Demerol and knock me out. Spent six days in hospital with hideous migraine. Given Gabapentin, Magnesium, DHEA, you name it. All just drug you up so you can't tell them you are suffering. Unless you deal with this condition, you have no idea the suffering. Not a headache, it's a Neurological event."

For Migraine "It's about a 50/50 chance if Nurtec will knock out my migraine. It takes about 2 hours to fully kick in. I have noticed it seems to take down the general migraine pain, but instead I get really quick intense bouts of pain? It's very strange. Hard to say if it's actually from the Nurtec, but other than that I don't get any side effects from it!"

For Migraine "No! Stay away! Horrible! Do not take! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! This will have you screaming in pain, the headache it brings on is 200x worse than any migraine. Not worth it at all! Totally unhappy with ubrelvy too. I'm looking to just take a sleeping pill of some kind rather than a migraine abortive."

For Migraine "I have head migraine with aura and without aura since I was 12. I had been taking triptans and Botox for migraine but still having 8-12 migraines a month. Many last 3-4 days. Tried Nurtec as a preventative this week and disappointed. First 3 days was headache free then next three days had low level migraine with vision problems. Nurtec didn’t stop the headache and other symptoms, just tamped them down. Still had to take a triptan after waiting several hours without relief. The symptoms, while lessened, still were bad enough for me to feel slow and off balance, have trouble reading, and feel nauseous."

For Migraine "Nurtec worked great for my migraines with no immediate side effects, however, the following day it gave me horrible stomach pain lasting 3-4 days. It started day two after taking, and I was buckled over in pain and cramps. It didn’t cause gas, diarrhea or constipation, just pain in my guts. Dull tearing pain. I tried it a couple of times to make sure it wasn’t coincidental. I would rather have a migraine."

For Migraine "I cannot believe I found something that works! As a lifelong migraine sufferer (diagnosed with chronic migraines and episodic clusters) I have had such bad luck finding something that helps. Triptans hurt my stomach and don't always work. It's 50/50. Topamax was a nightmare and Emgality is taking eternity to work. I've taken Nurtec three times now and not only does it knock out any head pain, it feels like it gives me energy. Like I really feel GOOD and like my old self. ZERO SIDE EFFECTS. Only downfall is you can only take a limited monthly amount!"

For Migraine "I have recently started getting migraines due to my chronic insomnia. I'm in my 70s. My doctor gave me some samples of Nurtec. I took them at the first sign of a headache, and I felt great. Clear-headed with no headache. My doctor prescribed it as a preventative which I am to take every 2 days. Medicare paid for most of it so the cost wasn't prohibitive. However, now that I've started it as a preventative, I've been getting brain fog, even when I slept okay the night before. Also, a little dizzy and having vision problems when I read. These could be side effects that will go away. I don't want to give up on it yet, but if the brain fog continues, I'll have to stop taking it. The brain fog is as bad as a headache."

For Migraine "Made me super sick! The joint pain and muscle pain I get for days after taking this is absolutely scary!! Gets rid of my migraine but the side effects are not worth it. I’m on steroids in hopes of the muscle aches to go away"

For Migraine "Have had migraines for 40 years. First time taking Nurtec - took it at 7:00 pm (dinner was at 6:00 pm) - it dulled the migraine, but did not take it away completely - still sensitive to light and sound. Then it made me feel shaky. Went to bed feeling wrung out - just odd neurologically. At 2:30 am, vomited (mostly bile) in my sleep - which I have never experienced in my life before - thank goodness I was on my side, but still aspirated some. Burned my throat, mouth, sinuses and esophagus so badly I was hoarse for days along with awful heartburn and nausea also. Spoke with MD and they were very alarmed at what happened - said definitely an allergic reaction. Have tried all the biologics (Emgality, Ajovy, etc.)- too many nasty side effects with them also. I'll stick with Imitrex and Botox."

For Migraine "I have cycles of migraines and occasionally, hemiplegic migraines. A smaller episode lasts 8 hours, but there are times they'll go on for weeks with repeated attacks back to back. I tried triptans, but they didn't help. I also tried topamax which was one of the worst experiences--didn't help, and the side effects were awful. So I was relieved to find that Nurtec works if I catch my migraine early enough (and eases the migraine if I'm already in one). No nausea so far. I find that my mouth feels a little strange sometimes but it is mild. I don't get brain fog when I take this, which is the biggest plus. For me, I'll see benefits within 30 to 60 minutes. I also don't get tired or groggy. The only negatives: not sure how I would even begin to afford it without the copay card, the packaging is excessive, and it can be different to get at my pharmacy. But Nurtec was a game changer for my migraines."

For Migraine "The first time I used Nurtec for migraine with aura, it relieved my headache within an hour and I experienced mild nausea and dizziness. The next 3 times I used it for migraine with aura, the nausea and dizziness was more pronounced. The headache pain was lessened within an hour or so but I got a second, much more severe headache with aura (rebound?) within 8 hours. These subsequent headaches lasted two plus days. I believe that the Nurtec caused these rebound headaches and I will not use again."

For Migraine "I’ve had migraines for about 15 years however as I’ve gotten older they have gotten worse. I don’t like taking pills so I’m not on any preventatives. When I get an episode I typically get really bad pain behind an eye, throbbing headache and nausea and vomiting. The episodes last about 2-3 days and I get them 2 times a month. It is horrific to feel this way. I take Naratriptan but my doctor wanted me to try Nurtec. I just tried it for the first time a few hours ago. It did relieve most of the pain after about 2 hours. With that said I still have some pain behind the eye and feel loopy and you can only take 1 every 24 hrs, this sucks! I think I will stick with Naratriptan doses for 3 days. I don’t get why they haven’t come out with medication that actually aborts it after one dose. This is so exhausting."

For Migraine "Pleas read my experience before you take this pi even if you are very healthy!!! For reference I'm a 21 year old female and was so excited to finally get a prescription for this after researching it and besides migraines I do not have any other health issues. I took this pill around 9 in the morning for my first time when I felt a migraine approaching. Less than about 7 minutes later, I was vomiting an insane amount. This continued for upwards of 15 hours, along with: full body shakes, extremely cold, extremely weak, trouble walking. I literally needed assistance putting on clothes and standing up w/o fainting. I have NEVER felt this way before in my entire life. It was like a mixture between alcohol poisoning and food poisoning except the only things in my body were Nurtec and my morning cereal. I had to wear 4 hoodies to stop shaking and spent the entire day throwing up and almost went to the ER. I have the worst migraines ever but I would rather have a migraine than one these pills"

For Migraine Prevention "I've been taking this medication for about 3 months, and it definitely does help. I've gone from up to 10-15 migraines a month to maybe 2 or 3. I also experience no side effects from this, which is a huge plus. I haven't taken it for acute treatment, so I can't comment on whether or not it works for that, but if you're looking for a preventative, I'd say give it a shot!"

For Migraine Prevention "I have had a great experience with Nurtec ODT. I went from waking up with a migraine every day to having maybe 3-4 a month and they are controlled with Imitrex. I have been on it every other day for 3 months and have noticed in the last couple of weeks an increase in my migraines. Not sure what this is about. Otherwise, Nurtec gave me my life back."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve been on Nurtec for a month. I’m new to migraine medication and didn’t know my daily headaches were migraines until hemiplegic attack led me to hospital for what I thought was a stroke. I’m 43, have a high pain tolerance, and have idiopathic intracranial hypertension. I didn’t know what “silent migraines” were until a neurologist explained them, and the auras, numbness, etc. are what drove me to get treatment. Now that I’ve been on Nurtec, I notice the migraines because I’ve felt what life is like without them. Occasionally, one slips through at about the 36 hour mark though, and since I’m prescribed Nurtec as a routine every other day medication, I don’t want to take another one earlier and risk running out before my refill. There aren’t studies past 17 doses/month, so I’m not migraine free just yet. My only side effect has been bloating, and for me, considering my IBS, that’s impressive and tolerable."

For Migraine "The first few times I tried Nurtec for a mild/ moderate migraine, it worked. Definitely took longer to work than imitrex, but I didn’t feel tired or nauseous at all. Woke up today with a migraine. Took a dose of Nurtec, no relief at all. I’m shocked and disappointed that Nurtec had no effect on my moderate/ severe migraine today. Now I have to wait 24 hours after I took Nurtec in order to take imitrex. My doctor said you cannot take Nurtec and imitrex together!! I’ll stick with the imitrex from now on. It may take a couple of doses, knocks me out, but at least I know it works."

For Migraine "I have tried 37 different medications and/or alternative therapies and nothing has worked except Zomig. I have chronic daily intractable migraine (meaning I’m somewhere on the migraine continuum every single day). I get 12 Zomig tablets a month and I need 2 tablets for it to be effective. That makes 6 days out of the month I could function. Finally, my doctor prescribed Nurtec as a preventative. I get 16 tablets per month. The first few times I used it, I was extremely sick to my stomach but each time it seemed to decrease the nausea a tiny bit. As the days went by and my body acclimated to Nurtec ODT, it has become a life-saver as a preventative. It reduces the acute pain though not as much as I had hoped for. However, weirdly enough, the alternative day I don't take it, the medication works extremely well as a preventative. That day ends up being a low/no pain day. I have had migraines for 15 years and Nurtec ODT has been the only thing able to actually reduce pain for acute migraine and lowers/stops the pain when used as a preventive."

For Migraine "On 3rd month of Nurtec now. It does work for me and gets rid of the migraine and I only take 1/2 of a tablet. Not easy to break in half perfectly but works just as well as the full tablet so for those of you who haven't tried just a half, I definitely recommend trying it. First few times taking it I had no side effects. However, now when I take it, I get lethargic and sometimes so tired I literally can't keep my eyes open and have to lay down. It also gives me terrible heartburn and sharp pains in my stomach and gut as well as some stiffness and joint pain so I'm starting to wonder how safe it is, especially in the long term. Zolmitriptan 2.5mg works better for me with fewer and shorter lasting side effects."

For Migraine "Do not recommend this medicine. I only wish I had known it had an artificial sweetener before taking it. It explains why my body reacted so violently. Sumatriptan works great to treat my migraines but my new neurologist was looking for a preventative solution. Apparently, Nurtec can be used that way, but first we needed to see how I’d react. Both times I took it at the onset of a migraine. The first time, I went straight to bed and woke up the next morning feeling slightly hungover. But then, nausea, diarrhea, and a weird headache for two days. Thought I’d give it one more try. Didn’t touch the headache and about 36 hours later, horrific rebound headache. I have been in bed all day. Do not wish this on anyone."

For Migraine "Nurtec takes my level 10 migraine pain away within an hour. What I get later is lasting dizziness (up to a month of dizziness with just one pill). I also get rebound migraines and headaches, sometimes from just 1 pill but it’s more severe the more that I take (migraines- severe pain on one side of the head, nausea & vomiting, headaches- pain all over the head and less severe). When I took it more often my hair started coming out like crazy. I was afraid to wash and brush my hair because so much was coming out. Now that I take it more sparingly, my hair has stopped falling out. I take it as little as possible now, although I still get the dizziness and rebounds from taking very little. I think the manufacturer seriously needs to update the side effects warning. It’s for sure causing my rebounds and dizziness and as so many have reported hair loss with CGRP acting meds, it really seems unethical to not give these warnings. I rate it a 7 because it works but side effects are bad."

For Migraine "I usually take Eletriptan, which I have been very satisfied with. My neurologist retired and I was referred to a neurologist who was very stuck on this class of medication. This drug, which was not supposed to have side effects, did not work and exacerbated my gastric reflux. The neurologist's solution was to increase my dose of Omeprazole, a gastric reflux medicine. It was the first and last time I took Nurtec and I am looking for a new neurologist. I guess I will have to live with migraines when the last of my medicine runs out. The neurologists in Phoenix don't seem to be taking new patients."

For Migraine "I was hesitant to try this because of the bad effects I've had from triptans. It made me a little sick to my stomach with some stomach pain, but I had an ongoing migraine for a month and a half, and this is the only thing that broke it! It's amazing. It was a lifesaver."
