For Migraine Prevention "This is the only thing that has slowed down and stopped many of my migraines. Have had them for 25 years following 7 months of birth control pills. Take it once every other day, dissolve under my tongue. Since I had serious allergic reactions to ibuprofen, Zomig, Imitrex, Ajovy shots, and Botox, I was scared to try this, but couldn't handle the side effects of the Botox anymore. Chronic fatigue is no way to live with your head still hurting. Been on it since September 2021. With my IBS, tummy issues were expected, so I always take it with food. Have had no side effects that noticeably pointed to Nurtec. Getting better, was able to start walking this summer, up to 3 miles. Migraines have changed, so can have painless ones, but they still stop. No complaints after going over a year with a non-stop migraine. Still have the menstrual migraine ones periodically that don't stop and last for days, but in my early 50s so hormones are going to be crazy."

For Migraine "I have suffered with menstrual migraines for around twelve years. I am so grateful for this medication! It’s a game changer for me! I highly recommend. No side effects at all. Gone within an hour and a half!"

For Migraine "I am a 50-year-old female who has struggled with 72-hour migraine episodes, several times a month, for the past six years. I have had all sorts of inconclusive testing, tried numerous medications, none of which worked. I am writing this review in the hopes that it may be helpful to others. The first time I took Nurtec, I had unimaginable nausea, and it barely helped with my migraine. I didn’t think I’d ever try it again, but I did because when another migraine came, I didn’t have anything else, plus I had to go through so many hoops to get my insurance to approve this expensive medication, I suppose I felt like I owed Nurtec another chance. I’m glad I did! Each time thereafter, my negative side effects lessened until they disappeared altogether. If I take it the moment I feel a migraine coming on, I can pretty much prevent it entirely. If I’m in denial and wait to take it, it usually takes about 4 hours to eradicate my migraine."

For Migraine "I've taken several types of triptans, and sometimes they take the edge off, or if I take them very early in the day, by night I might be feeling a bit better, able to sit on the couch with my kids-but still no normal function. So I thought I'd try Nurtec because of the hype and recommendations. This was definitely not for me. I felt drugged up. I was bursting into tears, acting weird, asked my sister to pull over to the side of the expressway because I thought I was going to vomit while she was getting me home (it was a sudden urge rather than general nausea). And then I was in a 'haze' for a couple of days. It's definitely not something that I ever want in my system again. I'm a slimmer woman and also wonder why the same doses are given across the board. I'm definitely sticking with my triptans (Frova, Nara)."

For Migraine Prevention "I have had chronic migraines for over 40 years and have been to numerous neurologists and taken many different medications and treatments, conventional and alternative, to prevent my migraines. Nothing worked until Nurtec! It's a godsend for me! It has nearly eliminated my migraines. The price of Nurtec needs to come down so it is affordable for everyone in need of the medication."

For Migraine Prevention "I started taking Nurtec ODT at the beginning of September 2021 for weekly migraines that showed up twice or three times a month. After using sumatriptan for a few months with dwindling results, I decided to give Cove a try in helping with a better prescription. From my choices, I decided to try Nurtec, and after its short-term usage, I could tell the difference between with it and without it. My migraines dropped in number (from 14-21 days to 4-7 days), and those that I would have were rather short, only lasting for hours instead of days. The only reason I was able to receive Nurtec is that I was still on an insurance plan with my mom, but after she lost her job and I found my own insurance, I have been denied access to it due to its high price. After doing research, I found out that one 8-pack costs over $2,000! Not being able to afford it, I’m currently in the middle of deciding on new medication to take without so many side effects. There is no reason for this medicine to cost so much."

For Migraine "I just read in the comments this contains sucralose! I'm extremely allergic, and my doctor knows about this but prescribed it anyways as a rescue medication. I've been bedridden for almost 6 days and went to take it again. Good thing I looked at these reviews. If you have an artificial sweetener intolerance, don't take it. I haven't been able to move, vomiting, nausea, increased pain, etc."

For Migraine Prevention "I have had cluster migraine with aura for years. Nothing I was given helped. I tried triptans, Ubrelvy, and a list of other medications. I started taking Nurtec for prevention. I have had nothing but positive effects, very few migraines in a year. I actually recently asked to try Ubrelvy, and the side effects were horrible. My neurologist put me back on Nurtec."

For Migraine "So right off, I was afraid it was gonna taste bad. It didn't taste bad, it was minty, but it did leave a really strong aftertaste, like metallic or bitter. It made me feel really weird, like whooshy. And I felt like I was talking really slowly. And I stuttered a lot. I felt really floaty, and I had a hard time walking. And the nausea was so bad. Worse than migraine nausea. Like I was salivating like I was going to throw up. But I didn't. My tongue also felt really weird, and I did look in the mirror to see if it was swollen, it wasn't, it just felt weird, like numb. And I ate a little piece of fudge. It tasted like pure butt. In fact, everything tasted bad. Even water. And I still had a migraine. It didn't progress any further, pain-wise. Just like it was at a standstill. So I took it around 12:30 pm in the afternoon. And the migraine finally disappeared around bedtime, about 10:30. So the only thing it really did was stop the migraine from progressing to further pain."

For Migraine "Oh my gosh… This medication made me feel like I was on my deathbed! I took it for the first time yesterday due to a migraine I had on the same day I visited my doctor. It seemed to work for a bit, but then things took a major turn for the worst. A couple of hours after taking this pill, I completely blacked out and was unconscious. I woke up only because I was aspirating on my own vomit. I ran to the bathroom, and it was a horror movie scene. I then was violently ill; throwing up within 5 mins of taking a sip of water. I threw up constantly for around 5 hours and laid in my bathroom, in the dark, with a blanket and pillow. I did not mix this medicine with any other medicine that night either. My migraine got worse, and I’m still fighting it today (approx 20 hrs after), and by then I was terrified to take even a Tylenol and another Zofran because I was so extremely sick! Be careful with this medication! It may work for some people, but just looking at the bottle is giving me PTSD now."

For Migraine "1st use caused a panic attack (PA). I was desperate, so I took it before doing my normal research, but I started research shortly after taking it. The first thing I saw was a Kardashian name. I wouldn’t have taken it had I seen that first, as I feel it speaks volumes. The PA that this set off rolled for hours. Also, I now know (thanks to research) the CGRP is involved in wound healing and protective measures for the cardiovascular system, among other things. I don’t trust the long-term safety of this drug. I’ve never had a reaction like this to a drug and haven’t had enough PAs for me to think that the PA was a coincidence. This drug is the only known trigger for my PAs. I won’t even donate what I didn’t take because I feel such conviction when it comes to this medication."

For Migraine Prevention "I'm back to update!! (I'm unable to edit my original review.) I was the 62-year-old who had suffered from migraines for 40 years and posted in November 2022 that I had not had a headache since the 15th. It's now April 2023, and I'm thrilled to report that I did not have a single headache day in March! I did have one in April after a very long flight and 90 minutes of driving a rental car through Atlanta, but that was it. I'm ecstatic! Although Nurtec ODT causes some joint pain, it's much more bearable than migraines, so I'm not complaining. I appreciate the fact that it's free of cost. Thank you, Nurtec ODT."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve had migraines since I was a kid. They’ve continued to worsen with age. Most months, I was experiencing 23-25 days with severe migraine with aura, light sensitivity, nausea, aching body, stomach upset, sensitivity to smell and sound, dizziness, numbness in my face, and horrific stabbing pain on the left side of my head. I tried everything, including chiropractic treatment, antidepressants, exercise, topiramate, ice, hormones, magnesium, B vitamins, etc. Nurtec as a preventative has been a godsend. It gave me my life back. Now I just have to fight with insurance every so often to keep it. I have maybe two migraines a month now, and they’re nothing at all like they were. So thankful."

For Migraine "I started taking Nurtec about 6 months ago, and it has really worked for me. I take it as soon as I feel, 'yup, this is actually a migraine' vs. a tension headache, which has been about once a week these last 6 months. It usually takes about an hour to set in, but the pain melts away, and I can get back to normal life mostly. I can still feel the migraine creeping under the surface, so I would say it gets me back up to 85% of my normal self. I have had no rebound migraines, but a couple of migraine hangovers the next day."

For Migraine "The one dose of Nurtec was great until it wore off. Then I was left with paralysis on my left side, which included my leg, arm, and face. I could not roll over in bed or get out of bed without assistance. I could not walk unaided, let alone drive a car. I could not shower standing up. I had horrible pain all over, so I would sit in the shower letting the water wash over me to feel better until there was no more warm water. I had diarrhea and urinary incontinence. I wanted to sleep constantly. I could not think clearly or speak very well. I was not hungry and more. This went on for 3 months, I lost 40 pounds. My heart rate increased to 110 and has stayed around 100, even now 8 months later. I could not tolerate being outside in the heat. I cannot lift more than 20-25 pounds. I went to my PCP, she treated my symptoms. Poison control said there was nothing to counteract. Most of my symptoms have gone, but some remain. I never had most of these before. Horrible pill."

For Migraine "My doctor ordered me the Kyleena IUD for heavy bleeding. I started having awful migraines several months after it was inserted. My doctor said hormones are 99% responsible for migraines. I started to take Imitrex and was a zombie on it and had to go to bed. I went to my neurologist and he prescribed Nurtec ODT. When my first migraine hit, I was in excruciating pain, and the box was extremely difficult to open. I tried to open it, but being in that much pain made it even harder. Once the package was opened after 5 minutes of trying, it started to work in 30-40 minutes. I have never had a migraine leave so quickly. I was not nauseous or even tired after it worked, and I basically could go back to my normal daily routine. It is a huge blessing that I live in this day and time that we have drugs like this one available to us!"

For Migraine "I wanted to leave a review since I figured most people who bother to leave one only do so when they have a negative experience. So for those of you who rely on reviews to make your decisions as I do, I just wanted to leave my own experience. I tried my first Nurtec today after avoiding it for a while out of fear that I’d have a negative reaction. I wish I had taken it before during my last two migraines because the only side effect I had was VERY mild dizziness. So mild that I could shower and walk around and feel fine. Other than that, no nausea, no stomach pain, nothing. My headache is gone and I feel completely fine. So grateful for this medication!"

For Migraine "My neurologist prescribed this to me along with Reyvow and said they were the newest and best for migraine pain. These two meds do not work for me! It was a ratio of ~1 to every 10 times I have taken these pills that they actually worked. Migraine usually came back a day or so later when it did work. Reported this twice to my long-time neurologist, her plan, take lots of magnesium, ginger root, and an antiemetic when I feel a migraine and then the med combo! I am not new to migraines, been getting them since I was 7 (I just turned 61), so lots of meds and experience with these headaches. I finally had to fire my doctor and move on. I hope I can find something other than Nurtec with my new doctor."

For Migraine "Nurtec takes my level 10 migraine pain away within an hour. What I get later is lasting dizziness (up to a month of dizziness with just one pill). I also get rebound migraines and headaches, sometimes from just 1 pill, but it’s more severe the more that I take (migraines - severe pain on one side of the head, nausea and vomiting, headaches - pain all over the head and less severe). When I took it more often, my hair started coming out like crazy. I was afraid to wash and brush my hair because so much was coming out. Now that I take it more sparingly, my hair has stopped falling out. I take it as little as possible now, although I still get the dizziness and rebounds from taking very little. I think the manufacturer seriously needs to update the side effects warning. It’s for sure causing my rebounds and dizziness, and as so many have reported hair loss with CGRP acting meds, it really seems unethical to not give these warnings. I rate it a 7 because it works, but side effects are bad."

For Migraine "Minimal relief. Exorbitant copay of $370 with insurance coverage. Unable to take triptans due to brain aneurysms. Other CGRPs pretty much worthless. Botox helps, but wears off in about four weeks. Lidocaine injections help for a few hours. Wish they would just give me a big dose of Demerol and knock me out. Spent six days in the hospital with a hideous migraine. Given Gabapentin, magnesium, DHEA, you name it. All just drug you up so you can't tell them you are suffering. Unless you deal with this condition, you have no idea the suffering. Not a headache, it's a neurological event."

For Migraine Prevention "I was suffering from recurring migraines. Some migraines are random, others are induced by smells or repetitive sounds. I would get vertigo as my first signal that a migraine was coming on. My doctor suggested I try Nurtec ODT and see how it works for me. He said that many of his patients have responded well to it. I had a migraine start coming on while at work. I immediately reached for the Nurtec ODT sample and placed it under my tongue. Within fifteen minutes the symptoms started to subside and within 30 they were almost fully gone. I still had that feeling of head pressure but in one hour all symptoms were gone and I could get back to my day. Thank you Nurtec ODT."

For Migraine "I was excited to try Nurtec as a preventive, although very hesitant to discontinue Maxalt, which was like a miracle drug for me after 40 years of migraines and trying treatments with neurologists in three states. Keeping records for all these years, I maintained between 8-12 headache days a month on average (some of these days were 3-day migraines, and yes, I was taking Maxalt for those three days). I started Nurtec in July of 2022, every other day as instructed, and saw no significant difference, and was allowed to continue taking Maxalt for headaches, according to my neuro. However, my headache days went down to 5 in August - a first!! - and again in September and October - I'll take it!! Now it is November 15, 2022, and I have not had a headache yet this month. This is unbelievable to me. My takeaway is that, for me, it is taking some time to have a real effect. I will stick with it with fingers crossed for a headache-free month!! I am 62 years old and hopeful!!"

For Migraine "This is supposedly an oral dissolving tablet, but the pharmacist said to take it with a glass of water and swallow it. Thank God I did because no one told me it was peppermint. I am allergic to peppermint, and it burned like fire, made me nauseated to the point of wanting to throw up. Luckily, I had some Jell-O and ate that quickly and put out the fire. The migraine got worse. It did not work for me. I will never take this again."

For Migraine "Do not recommend this medicine. I only wish I had known it had an artificial sweetener before taking it. It explains why my body reacted so violently. Sumatriptan works great to treat my migraines, but my new neurologist was looking for a preventative solution. Apparently, Nurtec can be used that way, but first we needed to see how I’d react. Both times I took it at the onset of a migraine. The first time, I went straight to bed and woke up the next morning feeling slightly hungover. But then, nausea, diarrhea, and a weird headache for two days. Thought I’d give it one more try. Didn’t touch the headache, and about 36 hours later, horrific rebound headache. I have been in bed all day. Do not wish this on anyone."
