For Sedation "Taken to help me sleep, didn't really feel it worked as still awake at 1 am (took it at 8 pm). The next morning I couldn’t wake up. I was tired all the next day, dry mouth, and was exhausted. Had to stay home as could barely open my eyes. Won’t be taking it again."

For Light Sedation "Phenergen is the only medication I can use to help me sleep that works. I can't use it every night as it stops working within a few days of continued use, so I can only use it every now and then when my insomnia is really bad. The major downside is it makes me very depressive and anxious for 2 days after I've taken it. I cry a lot and loss all my self-esteem. It's a really rough time. If my insomnia wasn't so severe, I probably wouldn't touch the stuff. On another note, its amazing for allergies and hayfever. Again, I just wish it didn't effect my mood."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I suffer from migraines and frequently have extreme nausea and vomiting. Since I can't keep my migraine medicine down (Zomig) at times like these I have to be taken to the emergency room for shots for pain and nausea. The last time I went they gave me a prescription for Phenergan. I didn't know how I would manage to keep it down if I did need it I thought that was odd, but since the bad migraines usually come in threes, I had a chance to try it the next day. It was great! I could keep the Zomig down. I got a little rest too. "

For Nausea/Vomiting "Received Phenergan (IV) in the hospital for nausea and vomiting. Did not have any history of hypertension, but my blood pressure spiked after 3 doses of phenergan. I am now on a beta blocker, and have not been able to have my BP return to normal since being discharged. Just really a strange situation. Historically, I have not been on any medications."

For Allergies "Used Phenergan (brand name) with good results for allergies, taken one tablet at bedtime. Deserve a five-star review from my personal experience, although my allergies are extreme. Relieved itching after my shower & had a mild sedative effect, allowing sleep. Unfortunately, I am now retired, can't afford cash to insist on the brand name & Promethazine is as taking another allergen in my sensitive system. Benadryl Dye-Free is an expensive OTC that helps, two at bedtime. When I can't find sleep, sleep does find me eventually lol. Phenergan was a pretty good alternative to my Atarax once it was no longer available. GBU all fighting the war on allergies. :)"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have chronic pancreatitis and have severe nausea almost every day. My doctor tried many different medicines for nausea and vomiting over the 8 years I've been sick. Several years ago I tried Phenergen and had a severe allergic reaction. I later learned is called a tonic reaction."

For Sedation "I have recently started taking phenergan, I take two 50mg tablets about 20 minutes before sleep. 9 times out of 10 I'm having the most intense nightmares! I've literally just woke up from another. These tablets do work however you need to be mindful nightmares can occur."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I use Phenergan for nausea. I take 25mg to 50 mgs. More effective than Zofran which doesn’t work on me. It causes a bit of tiredness, but not the putting me to sleep type—just relaxes me which is appreciated when I have nausea."

For Nausea/Vomiting "In 2015 I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and had emergency surgery to save my life, 7 years later, I have ups and downs with flares and how it makes me feel. And mainly it’s nausea. So my doc prescribed promethazine(phenergran) to help, and boy does it. I can be sick and not wanna eat to keep weight on. But after 1 or 2, I can eat anything."

For Sedation "I only take Phenergen for sleep as a last resort, and only the low dose. Phenergen does help me sleep, but it gives me intense nightmares and leaves me feeling really stressed and anxious. It also makes me drowsy the next day, so I basically can't function. Even for sleep though, it only works for a few days and then wears off. So only good for the short-term in my case. I wouldn't dare try the stronger stuff, I think it would be too much. As for allergies, it works well and instantly. So there's that at least. Still get the side-effects though."

For Light Sedation "Started taking this about a year ago it worked ok but gave me awful restless leg syndrome. Did not take it for a while then started again, worked ok for sleep but I felt short tempered and low mood. It is worth a try as everyone reacts differently from it"

For Nausea/Vomiting "As a type 1 diabetic, I occasionally get nausea and/or vomiting with low blood sugar. If blood sugar levels are severely low, you may feel nausea and something similar to a migraine headache, in my case, with locking-tight, neck muscles. It is hard to get blood sugar levels up when you are vomiting. I have found a Phenergan suppository is the only thing that works for me during these episodes. It works very quickly to stop nausea and gives me enough time to eat before making me sleepy. I have been diabetic for more than 40 years, so it is not as though I am inexperienced and I have both an insulin pump and blood testing equipment, with which to check my glucose levels before I ever consider going to sleep. I do not recall ever being truly "knocked out" long term, but asleep for a few hours, long enough for the headache and tight neck muscles to subside."

For Nausea/Vomiting "My experienced was awful. This medication was put into my IV and in seconds I felt myself going into a deep sleep. I wasn't fully in the hospital when it took an affect. I thought that I could not breathe and screamed for oxygen. The nurse stated that I was breathing just fine. Well I didn't need oxygen, just a bad trip. Yes Nausea went a way quickly. I guess it is effective, but not worth the trip, very scary."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was sick was two days in a row. I had to go to the ER and I was on Zophren which helped during the day but at night my morning sickness Aka HG ravaged. My mother in law suggested this drug as a suppository because she had similar problems! I still am nauseous but I’m finally having a night out of the ER. Now if it could only make me sleepy lol"

For Nausea/Vomiting "This has been a game changer for my migraines. If I do not catch them in time, I cannot keep anything down which means the Imetrex doesn't have time to work. It becomes a viscous cycle and can last for a few days. Phenergan stops that cycle! The only drawback is the drowsiness - I am limited to taking 1/4 pill at a time so I can still function when the migraine has gone away. Do NOT drive until you know how this medicine will affect you."

For Sedation "I may have had an auditory hallucination using this. Took 3mg just to be cautious. Small tablets. Ambo had mentioned it to me, so I gave it a go. OTC in Australia. The pharmacist told me to use no more than three times a week. Not bad."

"I have suffered bouts of severe stress, anxiety, and being unable to sleep on-and-on for years, sometimes a year being ok then ill again. Recently I started taking Phenergan to help me sleep (10mg tablets), I started off with one tablet in the daytime to see how my body reacted to it. Within 20 minutes my anxiety reduced and my nausea went completely. In an hour I was very tired but stayed awake. At night I then took two (10 mg) tablets, I slept great and woke up without a headache. Still had anxiety and nausea so took one tablet in the morning, it worked within 10 minutes (for nausea and anxiety). Then at night, I took only 1 tablet instead of 2, I still slept great with no side effects and it took 1hr 30 minutes to get me to sleep. I totally recommended them BUT read the leaflet, it does say to start off low and then increase if needs be. You must also be careful if you are taking other drugs, even herbal pills! And I wouldn't drive if you are taking them through the day for hay fever etc."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I take this when my hay fever is really bad. Works amazingly well for relieving hay fever symptoms and also as a mild sleep aid. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and unfortunately this drug makes my anxiety 100% worse the next day, like I'm going to have a psychotic break or something. Disappointing as it works so well for sleep and hay fever."
