For Nausea/Vomiting "Second trimester of pregnancy and had lost 30 lbs due to hyperemesis. None of the other nausea meds were working, they even gave me suppositories. I was admitted to the hospital, and I ended up on an IV drip of Zofran for a couple of days to give me some relief. Once they took me off the drip, I was scheduled to get the Zofran regularly. One particular nurse was terrible about giving me my medication on time, and I got so sick they had to look for an alternative. She gave me Phenergan, which made me drowsy, uncoordinated, disoriented, and gave me restless leg for a while. That experience was terrifying. When the doctors came in to check on me, they told me that I was given too big of a dose, so they were going to try it again at half a dose. That half dose was AMAZING!!! It took away the nausea immediately and allowed me to sleep comfortably. That became my regular nausea med for the rest of the hyperemesis, and I was given a prescription to use at home as needed. It saved my life."

For Sedation "I was prescribed this for my 6-year-old daughter to help her sleep. I've only been using it a couple of nights, but it doesn't seem to be working. I am giving her the 3x5ml dose and giving it to her at 6 pm, and up to now, she is still not going to sleep before 11 pm. Am I not giving her enough or not giving it enough time to work? Advice greatly appreciated! Thanks."

For Motion Sickness "I was on a plane for 26 hours with 5 stops and not much downtime on the ground. For the first time, I was able to eat and sleep for longer than 10 minutes. Not the best medicine for someone that needs to be alert and fully functioning. Once on the ground for good, I needed to be alert and doing my job. It took around 20 minutes and some water."

For Opiate Adjunct "I have been taking Phenergan 25 mg for years now. I have no problem with it, and it works fine for me. This is for the lady that said she was 65 years old and her daughter had the same reaction. You are severely allergic to Phenergan, do not take it anymore, please. My wife was prescribed it for nausea and vomiting. She started taking it, and every time she started feeling like throwing up, by the time I made her go to the emergency room, she was on the couch with her feet raised. I mean, I had to put a cinder block under the end of the couch to raise it up enough for her. She could not stand up without throwing up, and I had to hold her up to get to the bathroom. She was in the hospital for a week. Now she cannot look up without getting dizzy and going to pass out!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I use Phenergan for nausea. I take 25 mg to 50 mg. More effective than Zofran, which doesn’t work on me. It causes a bit of tiredness, but not the putting me to sleep type—just relaxes me, which is appreciated when I have nausea."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I take a Zofran disintegrating tablet, and this tablet just holds me over, laying down not moving until the Phenergan kicks in. Then I’m up and functioning like I was never about to vomit or had nausea."

For Nausea/Vomiting "As a type 1 diabetic, I occasionally get nausea and/or vomiting with low blood sugar. If blood sugar levels are severely low, you may feel nausea and something similar to a migraine headache, in my case, with locking-tight neck muscles. It is hard to get blood sugar levels up when you are vomiting. I have found a Phenergan suppository is the only thing that works for me during these episodes. It works very quickly to stop nausea and gives me enough time to eat before making me sleepy. I have been diabetic for more than 40 years, so it is not as though I am inexperienced, and I have both an insulin pump and blood testing equipment with which to check my glucose levels before I ever consider going to sleep. I do not recall ever being truly 'knocked out' long term, but asleep for a few hours, long enough for the headache and tight neck muscles to subside."

For Light Sedation "Started taking this about a year ago. It worked okay, but gave me awful restless leg syndrome. Did not take it for a while, then started again. Worked okay for sleep, but I felt short-tempered and low mood. It is worth a try, as everyone reacts differently to it."

For Sedation "I only take Phenergan for sleep as a last resort, and only the low dose. Phenergan does help me sleep, but it gives me intense nightmares and leaves me feeling really stressed and anxious. It also makes me drowsy the next day, so I basically can't function. Even for sleep, though, it only works for a few days and then wears off. So, only good for the short term in my case. I wouldn't dare try the stronger stuff, I think it would be too much. As for allergies, it works well and instantly. So there's that at least. Still get the side effects, though."

For Allergies "Used Phenergan (brand name) with good results for allergies, taken one tablet at bedtime. Deserve a five-star review from my personal experience, although my allergies are extreme. Relieved itching after my shower & had a mild sedative effect, allowing sleep. Unfortunately, I am now retired, can't afford cash to insist on the brand name & Promethazine is as taking another allergen in my sensitive system. Benadryl Dye-Free is an expensive OTC that helps, two at bedtime. When I can't find sleep, sleep does find me eventually lol. Phenergan was a pretty good alternative to my Atarax once it was no longer available. GBU all fighting the war on allergies. :)"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have chronic pancreatitis and have severe nausea almost every day. My doctor tried many different medicines for nausea and vomiting over the 8 years I've been sick. Several years ago, I tried Phenergan and had a severe allergic reaction. I later learned it is called a tonic reaction."

For Nausea/Vomiting "My experience was awful. This medication was put into my IV and in seconds, I felt myself going into a deep sleep. I wasn't fully in the hospital when it took an effect. I thought that I could not breathe and screamed for oxygen. The nurse stated that I was breathing just fine. Well, I didn't need oxygen, just a bad trip. Yes, nausea went away quickly. I guess it is effective, but not worth the trip, very scary."

For Nausea/Vomiting "This has been a game changer for my migraines. If I do not catch them in time, I cannot keep anything down, which means the Imetrex doesn't have time to work. It becomes a vicious cycle and can last for a few days. Phenergan stops that cycle! The only drawback is the drowsiness - I am limited to taking 1/4 pill at a time so I can still function when the migraine has gone away. Do NOT drive until you know how this medicine will affect you."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Received Phenergan (IV) in the hospital for nausea and vomiting. Did not have any history of hypertension, but my blood pressure spiked after 3 doses of Phenergan. I am now on a beta blocker and have not been able to have my BP return to normal since being discharged. Just really a strange situation. Historically, I have not been on any medications."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was sick for two days in a row. I had to go to the ER, and I was on Zofran, which helped during the day, but at night my morning sickness, a.k.a. HG, ravaged. My mother-in-law suggested this drug as a suppository because she had similar problems! I still am nauseous, but I’m finally having a night out of the ER. Now if it could only make me sleepy, lol."

For Light Sedation "I use it mainly while traveling. I take it when I know my mind is restless and a sleepless night looms ahead. It knocks me out within half an hour in the hotel room. I used to take 25 mg, but that would cause drowsiness the next day. Then, I found out that half a pill worked just as well. I have tried tranquilizers and alternative medicines, but Phenergan works best without any major side effects."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I've been taking this medication for a minimum of 15 years. It is a very good medication. I use it for nausea and vomiting. It does the trick. It also aids with my pain & insomnia, only when combined with other meds. But, even though I'm well educated on Phenergan, if I take it too frequently, it gets built up in my system and gives me severe restless leg symptoms! If you've never had it - avoid it! Just take it only when necessary."

"I have suffered bouts of severe stress, anxiety, and being unable to sleep on and off for years, sometimes a year being okay then ill again. Recently, I started taking Phenergan to help me sleep (10 mg tablets). I started off with one tablet in the daytime to see how my body reacted to it. Within 20 minutes, my anxiety reduced and my nausea went completely. In an hour, I was very tired but stayed awake. At night, I then took two (10 mg) tablets, I slept great and woke up without a headache. I still had anxiety and nausea, so I took one tablet in the morning, it worked within 10 minutes (for nausea and anxiety). Then at night, I took only 1 tablet instead of 2, I still slept great with no side effects and it took 1 hour 30 minutes to get me to sleep. I totally recommend them, BUT read the leaflet, it does say to start off low and then increase if need be. You must also be careful if you are taking other drugs, even herbal pills! And I wouldn't drive if you are taking them during the day for hay fever, etc."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I take this when my hay fever is really bad. Works amazingly well for relieving hay fever symptoms and also as a mild sleep aid. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and unfortunately, this drug makes my anxiety 100% worse the next day, like I'm going to have a psychotic break or something. Disappointing as it works so well for sleep and hay fever."

For Sedation "I have severe anxiety with taking medication, but I was desperate due to my ADHD. I have insomnia and can sit up until 5/6 am. I read the reviews, so I decided half was enough, and it worked like a charm. Yes, the next day you feel groggy and sleepy for a while, same with any sleep medication. It’s weighing up your cons and pros. Works for me, but I only take 1-2 times a week when I REALLY need it. If it’s gone past 1 am, I won’t bother as I know I won’t get up if I take it and will just have it the next day 1-2 hours before bed."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I suffer from migraines and frequently have extreme nausea and vomiting. Since I can't keep my migraine medicine down (Zomig) at times like these, I have to be taken to the emergency room for shots for pain and nausea. The last time I went, they gave me a prescription for Phenergan. I didn't know how I would manage to keep it down if I did need it. I thought that was odd, but since the bad migraines usually come in threes, I had a chance to try it the next day. It was great! I could keep the Zomig down. I got a little rest too."
