For Bullous Pemphigoid "I was sliding downhill very fast with pemphigoid/pemphigus (I have symptoms of both) before I started taking the Pred. I had them sitting in my cupboard because I was too scared to take them after hearing bad things about the side effects. I know they don't suit everyone, but they have been excellent so far for me. There are side effects, yes: night sweats, leg twinges, mood swings, curing migraines, and curing a persistent arm pain I had for 6 months! The sores on my body are almost healed in 3 weeks after 5 months of agony, and I can actually eat again. Long term, they're maybe less good for you, but they do work well."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I was prescribed this medication for a tooth that needed a root canal. My dentist was unable to finish my initial visit because, even after 12 shots of Novocaine, I could still feel it when he hit that nerve. So he prescribed this. I took the first 6 tablets in 2 doses since I received it late in the day. Day 2 was great! I had no tooth pain, and I felt 15 years younger! No knee pain, neck pain, or back pain either. I did notice a couple of incidents of heart palpitations that evening, but I sometimes get those anyway, so I wasn't too concerned. I did notice that I was extremely thirsty while on this medication. By day three, I noticed my tooth throbbing an hour or so before I was due for the next dose, but I toughed it out. Day four was the same, but since the doses were further apart, it was hard to ignore the pain. By day 5, I was supplementing with Advil every 6 hours. Day 6 I had a little vertigo, but not too terrible."

For Immunosuppression "Having taken this medicine in combination with other anti-rejection drugs and steroids following a liver transplant, I suffered from severe anger issues. These only subsided once medication was decreased."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Took Millipred for 2 months for an inflamed liver. The pills have a nasty aftertaste unlike the liquid form. Caused me to wake up several times per night. Not sure if that contributed to my irritability. It also caused dizziness. You should be careful if taking it with sleep aids."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Started on prednisolone today. I usually take the Teva brand, but they have decided they are not making any anymore, so I took Accord's brand prednisolone, and my throat has played up all day. I am on antibiotics as well. I have been on them on and off for ages. On the website for Accord, it says it's discontinued 5mg prednisolone without saying why. I have last stage emphysema. I don't appreciate being given discontinued drugs. What's going on? Why has it been discontinued???"

"I read all the reviews here before taking it for gout because I was scared. Now I want to share my experience with it. I had untreated gout for like 3 weeks. Left foot was swollen bad. Doctor gave me 20-30 mg per day for 7 days. I finally started it after a day of his prescription, and I was surprised that in 2-3 days the swelling magically vanished. The only side effect it had was a little tummy ache, but nothing an old bowl of yogurt can't fix. The doctor had also given me a PPI, omeprazole, before having this med. (before breakfast omeprazole, breakfast, after breakfast prednisolone). When I stopped it the 7th day, the swelling came back the very next day, but somehow it was a bit better, and my new NSAID course that started immediately (diclofenac) helped the swelling come down in 3-4 days. So my experience with this med was really good, non-scary, and insignificant side effects. It helped break down the severity of the gout inflammation."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Taking this for polymyalgia rheumatica. The obviously reported side effects have emerged but are dose-specific. I am also using a hormone injection once every three months to reduce testosterone and control a malignant prostate tumor prior to radiation therapy. My oncologist has recently increased the dose to 25 mg, and the effects so far have been magical. The stiffness and aches in my major muscles have been significantly reduced, and I consider the side effects worth putting up with for the improvement in my mobility. It’s worth adding that my rheumatologist wishes to reduce the dose quite quickly - I have found that anywhere below 12.5 to have no appreciable effect on my PMR and to significantly increase side effects and decrease quality of life and well-being."

For Immunosuppression "I had been diagnosed with neurosarcoidosis, was put on prednisolone 30 mg daily for a month, and the next 9 months tapered off. I'm off these now, and I have awful fullness in my head and strange sounds which are really affecting me. I hope these go away. Anyone else have this? I'm off preds 8 weeks, feel like these have messed my life up."

For Nephrotic Syndrome "My daughter has minimal change disease for many years since 5 years old. She is tolerating prednisolone pretty well with minimal side effects. Yes, she is a smaller size than her peers, but not so small as to be of concern. Her eyes are okay, and she did not have cataracts after so many years on this medicine. At this time, she is still dependent on this medicine. Hopefully, she grows out of the disease when she reaches puberty, which is the case for many children with MCD. Thanks."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I have a mucus problem for 20 years. And I am taking prednisolone since 2 months. It is only effective when you are taking it. If you miss the dose, the problem may come back. It may have some serious side effects like: - Erectile dysfunction - Back pain - Pain in the liver in between 1.5-inch diameter - Swelling - Sometimes CNS failure when you are running on sprint and get pain in the thigh - Fatigue very fast - When you start taking it... mood swings and anger - Oily face - Pimples and acne over your forehead - Less sleep, only 5 hrs. After that, you may automatically wake up. Conclusion: - Have a lot of side effects, but it is the only medication I found in 20 years from running from doctor to doctor, which is effective. It has to be taken with diethylcarbamazine, betamethasone, aceclofenac, and paracetamol may give better results. I have a spitting phlegm problem for 20 years, and every 5 min I spit. I got this because I had pneumonia when I was a child. I hope this may help a lot."

For Nephrotic Syndrome "It helps with the uncomfortable symptoms of inflammation, increases appetite, and gives more spontaneity. The bad side to this medicine is that it somehow alters hormones, not only cortisol, but also sex hormones. If you are a child on this medicine, then you might experience altered development and lifelong changes to your hormonal algorithms."

For Asthma, acute "My experience has been brilliant. Asthma worsening and very scary. Ventolin use getting closer and closer together & terrifying nights of wheezing and coughing and awful upper chest rattles & no sleep. After one- yes one- dose of prednisolone, I started feeling better after about 4 hours and was able to sleep during the night. Waking a few times but quickly back to sleep- without needing an inhaler. Today I have coughed a fair bit, but no wheezing & am able to recline much further without chest tightening up. Very, very pleased!"

For Inflammatory Conditions "Have been on this drug, prednisolone, for 4 days to help bring down swelling around my right knee as my body has Psoriatic Arthritis. I also have diabetes type 2. The dose was 25 mg twice a day. Everything seemed fine, till early in the evening of Tuesday, 2/17/20, that's when my blood glucose hit the roof. I was up way too high. It's a wonder I didn't go into a coma. I didn't realize the side effects were that bad, since reading some of the other comments of side effects of others who have taken this drug, I did notice I had similar. The drug may have its good points for some, for me, overall, it's not worth it. I'll discontinue taking them. I am more concerned about the blood glucose getting out of hand and the increase of infections, as diabetes type 2 is known to develop gangrene when infections get worse or are not treated."

Prednisolone "My toddler son uses this to help with his asthma symptoms. This helps, but is not a right-away medicine to use. If it's an emergency, he has to use an inhaler for the quick fix. This medicine takes about 20 minutes to an hour to work."
