For Anxiety and Stress "Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to this drug? I started 1 mg per day, and I’ve had INCREDIBLY vivid dreams, about 8 dreams per night. Thankfully, none are nightmares, but some are stressful, like a dream about my boss yelling at me. I also can’t stand up for long, about 3 hours into it, I get dizzy, I start hearing colors, if that makes sense, and I lose touch with reality. It’s all relieved by sitting or lying down again. The last but not least side effect is heart palpitations, which are exacerbated by even the least physical activity, like standing up. I assumed this was just first dose syndrome and it would work properly once my body adjusted to it. The thing is, it’s been two weeks now, and I’m starting to think these opposite effects aren’t gonna go away."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I thought prazosin had been a lifesaver. Had very vivid nightmares that occurred regularly. But was always very skeptical about how long this would stay effective. Well, one summer night my nightmares had come back. But was happy that I went pretty much nightmare-free for close to a year. But remember, this medication did not eliminate them completely, and with talking to other members of my battalion, it didn't completely eliminate them. I guess my psychiatrist is going to try me on a marijuana-based medication this month. Will keep you updated! Go to meetings, talk about it with others who experienced it, it does eventually help!"

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "I use this for anxiety and stress: I have PTSD, anxiety, and panic attacks. The VA doc started me on 1 mg to eventually increase to 3 mg. Now vivid dreams have increased, but relatively few nightmares. Once the dosage increased to 3 mg, I awoke very groggy and vision blurry. Now back to 2 mg and not so groggy in the morning, but vivid dreams and blurry vision persist. Tempted to cut back to 1 mg. Input from anyone out there with similar experience would be greatly appreciated."

For Nightmares "Taken prazosin for two days. Started on 1 mg, then the second night 2 mg, taken 1 hour before bed. Could not sleep but was awake for two hours. Dreaming started immediately upon sleep, more vivid than what I had been having-nightmares and strange dreams all night long until I got up. My nightmares are worse on the medication prazosin. I was hoping it would completely stop them. I hope it hasn't caused my nightmares to be permanently worse."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "PTSD trauma nightmares & BPH. As dosage was slowly increased from 1 mg to 4 mg before bedtime, I went from 3-5 nightmares per night (triggering panic attacks that made it impossible to go back to sleep) to none. I now have weird dreams. I can deal with weird. Upped to 5 mg to help with BPH. It worked for me."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "It really did help with my nightmares. (And lowered my blood pressure haha). I used to have nightmares almost every night, and I have only had three in the seven months I've been on it. My boyfriend thinks this is the best medicine ever created because now we can sleep peacefully. Didn't really help me fall asleep, but didn't keep me awake either. And when I slept, I would sleep through the night with no nightmares. Just really weird dreams."

For Nightmares "I've had nightmares what seems like forever from a couple of highway accidents I was in. I had a stroke 2 years ago and was put on Prazosin to lower my blood pressure. Just 2 mg in the evening helps me sleep with no nightmares or crazy dreams. I highly recommend giving Prazosin (Minipress) a try."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "The first time I took this med, I experienced very odd dreams, which woke me up questioning, what the heck is this all about? Also, I woke up several times during the night with a crazy rapid heartbeat. No way I will ever take this med again."

For Nightmares "I’ve struggled with PTSD nightmares and insomnia for years. Taking prazosin, Vistaril, and clonidine has been the perfect cocktail to get through the night. I have NEVER slept so well. My nightly flashbacks have subsided, but I have continued to have super vivid dreams, they are not traumatizing or even sleep-disturbing. In fact, they’re pretty cool, like a little movie. I would definitely recommend this med, and I wish I had known sooner about this due to how long I struggled with this."

For Nightmares "I have to say this is the worst 'medication' I have ever taken. My experience was bad. The pill was 'scientifically' scary. I had vivid nightmares at night. This pill was a nightmare, and I was mad the doctor prescribed it."

For Nightmares "I am new to this, but my nightmares and night terrors have stopped, thank God. I've been having more odd dreams, they feel real, and let's just say very realistic and kind of funny, but kind of crazy. But it really helps me out with sleep. I'm kind of scared to get off it because I read that the bad dreams would come back, but also, if I keep taking them, it could damage my brain or heart. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, but I will stick with them for now and see where they will take me. If you're reading this and you're on it too, good luck, and listen to your doctor, eat healthy, and don't get up too fast. Take your meds on time, never miss them, even if you say I don't need them because you do. I almost did the same, but I haven't skipped a single day because I don't like the nightmares too real and too scary, but if I'm on them, it's not so terrible."

For Nightmares "After the 4-6 weeks trial to see if it would work, it doesn't. Still very vivid nightmares."

For Anxiety and Stress "Vivid nightmares-I awaken soaked through my clothes even though the house is less than 68 degrees. My heart races, and the dreams have shaken me to flight. Now on Prazosin, 2 mg, I sleep through most nights. Sometimes I wake and have had a dream, but it only woke me; it didn't send me into a panic. Losing a father to Vietnam and all the childhood issues of being with a widowed mother-trying to raise five children on her own has come to haunt me in my dreams. The Prazosin has given me my sleep back."
