"Prazosin made my life so much easier when I was on it. I ended up being well rested, didn’t have nightmares, and it helped get my chronically high blood pressure in check. Took 1 mg for half a year. Probably going to ask my doctor if I can be put back on it soon. I will say though, if you have to wake up early, you’re definitely going to need to give yourself a good amount of time before you attempt standing up."

"I've been put on Minipress to help with PTSD symptoms because of the dangers of addiction with Klonopin. This drug has made me relive trauma in greater detail than ever before. I'm on month three on this medication, and I really want to just stop. It helps me fall asleep, but I wake up in a cold sweat after having dreams that seem to combine all my worst traumatic experiences into one night. Unless this is some type of exposure therapy, then this is just torture and isn't helping with PTSD or anxiety. My heart is racing right now. I wouldn't recommend this personally and will be scheduling an appointment with my psychiatrist as soon as possible to insist the dangers of this medication are far worse than becoming dependent on the relief that Klonopin gave me. I was only on 1 mg of Minipress. Nope, I don't want to increase and see if it works better."

"I was taking prazosin for almost 10 years for PTSD-induced nightmares. If you're capable of taking it or you're on the fence, do it. I was on 0.5 mg for years (as I tend to be sensitive to medication), and I went from having at least two nightmares a night for two years to having maybe two a week or less. Prazosin was genuinely a life changer. The only reason I stopped was because of the shortage. I was offered 1 mg pills, but they were way too strong for me. I wound up in the ER twice with tachycardia, but I have low blood pressure to begin with. For me, the 0.5 mg worked the best. If ever I'm able to go back to it, I will in a heartbeat. My nightmares have been so much worse without it."

"I was diagnosed with C-PTSD in July, was given quetiapine. Today, I'm getting weaned off of them and starting tonight on 500 mcg of prazosin. Next week, I will go up to 1 mg once the quetiapine is finished. I also see my psychologist every 2 weeks and psychiatrist every 6 months. Any advice, good or bad, about this medication for my diagnosis would be greatly appreciated because I'm nervous about new meds and side effects. TIA."

"My 21-year-old son died Jan 2017. After this, I immediately started having vivid, horrible nightmares. My doctor put me on prazosin, the nightmares have stopped. It works great for me."

"Taken to relieve nightmares caused by PTSD. Works well but lowers my blood pressure. Leaves me short of breath and dizzy at times. Worth it to prevent horrible flashback dreams."

"This actually elevated my blood pressure dramatically and induced tachycardia and also gave me terrible headaches and nasal congestion. Same as another user above. How odd."

"The VA gives me this pill, and I no longer beat up my wife, whom I love very much. My bad dreams are gone, I sleep good, and my wife does not have black eyes from my dreams. Thank you so much."

"Like all medications, prazosin works only temporarily. Deep meditation, allowing the feelings and traumatic experiences to be felt, has helped me more than medications."

"I have sleep paralysis and a disorder simply called 'nightmare disorder no REM sleep.' Sleep disorders run in the family, and after being re-traumatized, these normal nightmares became about trauma that I thought was in the past. My PTSD is not from recent events, and I have DID recently diagnosed as well. I got put on this medicine and learned quickly that the time I eat matters. No food 30 minutes before, none an hour after. I have some problems digesting food though, so maybe that's just me. I see some people saying it helped things about their PTSD which are unrelated to their sleep. That is not my experience, but then again, my PTSD is from childhood events-only helped by therapy, it's so ingrained. I have no side effects yet! However, since I started dissociating young (hence the DID), I have never gotten used to differentiating short waves of lightheadedness from dissociation. I'm a little dumb for that. I hope this review helps anyone! It's a good medicine for me!"
