Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "My RLS came out of nowhere in 2/2020. It was bothering me 24/7. I was constantly kicking people. No one wanted to sit next to me. It was embarassing. By 6/2020, I had had enough! So I saw a neurologist who started me on Mirapex. After a month or so, he would increase the dose. At one time I was taking .25mg, 3 of them, 3 times a day. It really helped me. I now take 2 tablets twice a day. It still bothers me slightly when I get in bed, but once I'm asleep, I'm fine. I have been eating more sweets than usual and put on a little weight. Don't know if this is the Mirapex or the fact that I stopped drinking."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "This works for a few years. If you die within this time, it works for you. However, if you live, you will regret all you took. The stories here should help you to take something else. I developed OCD, I was not able to get out of the house, I had to wash, or move things all day."

For Parkinson's Disease "This drug and other dopamine agonists are a complete nightmare for me. We were devastated with the impulse control disorders or compulsive behaviours (Shopping, eating) these drugs cause. It ruined our family completely. Please refrain from using dopamine agonists. It will destroy your life by causing a lot of psychiatric problems. These come as side effects of the drug."

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "I have never had any side effects to the Mirapex but I have all of a sudden started having a gambling problem at the age of 47. It is listed as a side effect and I wonder if it is the medicine contributing. Requip has the same side effect listed. I have to take it for my restless legs syndrome or I cannot sleep."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "I have been on pramipixole for about 3 years starting out at one half of .25mg tablet. Soon that did not work and had to increase it to .25mgs and then .50 mgs. This drug definitely helps my RLS but I cannot take it. I have gained almost 30 lbs and I have not changed my diet. My restless legs is generated from my antidepressants and low iron ferritin. I have now decided to get off the antidepressant , even though it helps me a lot but I cannot tolerate the RLS anymore. I know my road to feeling better will be difficult but I've got to do it."

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "I agree with it working. I had Rest Legs Syndrome and didn't sleep good for a month. After being put on other medicines that didn't work, the doctor decided to give me Mirapex. Oh my. I sleep every night and wake very clear and not groggy. I truly do not know where I would be if it weren't for this medication."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "I take pramipexole for RLS caused by Parkinson's Disease. It does work very well for the RLS, however I did have some issues. While on the drug I had purchasing problems instead of gambling problems. I think it's affecting a region in my brain that makes it difficult to say "No" to issues like gambling and shopping. I knew what it was when my doctor asked me "Are you having problems with shopping and spending money?". That's when I made the connection. My doctor is switching me off of Pramipexole to Sertraline which is a drug for Parkinsons. While stepping down from Pramipexole I ran into sleep problems. I did not fall asleep for about 5 days! Wide awake! 5 days! I'm not going to use Pramipexole. Bad drug."

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "My Doctor prescribed Mirapex for my Restless Legs Syndrome and it made me extremely sick! I couldn't even get out of my bed for almost 24 hours and felt like a train wreck! I went back to Sinemet and it works great and is very inexpensive with my insurance."

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "This drug ruined my life. I augmented, now have dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome (DAWS). It was great while it lasted, but not worth what may be a miserable existence for the rest of my life. I feel preyed upon by the drug company. This is no miracle. It's a curse. If you haven't started, don't. Why? Akathesia all the time in my feet. Ankles and feet always hurt and swollen. Can't sleep. Leg pain whenever I sit. I still have RLS. I've been told I'm lying by doctors who don't know all this stuff. I'm so angry. This drug stole all the enjoyment out of my life."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "I have been on this medication for more than 10 years and have great control with the Glenmark Generics pill yet when the pharmacy changed to the purple pill by Zydus Pharmaceuticals I found my legs were once again out of control. I asked the pharmacist to change me back to the one from Glenmark. He did and it worked almost immediately. Has anyone else noticed the difference?"

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Parkinson's Disease "Terrible side effects included a gambling compulsion. Felt compelled to buy stacks and stacks of lottery tickets despite never being into gambling. Lost impulse control, leading to some terrible decision-making that I couldn't stop even as I saw how it was negatively affecting my family. Building a life for decades seemed to be lost almost overnight... out of my control. And the only change was the use of Mirapex."

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "This has really helped me. I have had RLS all my life off and on. The RLS is worse now, I am 74yrs. I have been on it almost a year. I believe I may be getting some side effects lately. I am so tired, and can't seem to think straight sometimes. I realize that could be from other things, but I am going to talk to my Doctor on next visit. It is a God send if you haven't slept for nights."

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "I took Mirapex for a couple of months with my severe restless leg syndrome. It seemed to help but I would wake up in the middle of the night and in the morning before work and have severe nausea and vomiting. I am now taking Requip and it has been doing the same thing. "

For Restless Legs Syndrome "I started on pramipexole hydrochloride 6 years ago and at first suffered from jerking all the time. My head would always jerk to the left, my shoulders would jerk up and down and my legs shook all the time if I stood still or sat down. The recommended dosage didn't have any effect on the RLS at all and slowly the dose was raised. The jerking subsided after a few weeks and I was able to lead a happy life until a couple of months ago when it stopped working. It was wonderful for 6 years then over about a month it stopped having any effect whatsoever."

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "I have been taking Mirapex for a couple of weeks now. It doesn't seem to be helping that much just yet. I was diagnosed with restless legs syndrome about 6 years ago, which was a problem at night time. In October, I suddenly started having severe symptoms during the day, so I went to my doctor and she put me on Mirapex 0.125mg a day. I have noticed that I will suddenly feel very sleepy at times, while I've just been completely alert, which I see might be from the medication. Hopefully, with time it will relieve my symptoms for good!"

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Periodic Limb Movement Disorder "I have been taking Mirapex for a number of years, and it has worked best for me. I take 1 tab during day, 2 in early evenings. I had taken a high does of gabapentin/Neutontin, but some suppliers have a huge pill that was just too difficult for me to take."

Mirapex (pramipexole) for Restless Legs Syndrome "I have had mild RLS for about 20 years. But over the past 6 months, it's increased to the point of symptoms most nights. I was exhausted and sleep deprived so the doctor Rx Mirapex. It does work very well to control the RLS but I have been struggling with overeating! I have gained 6 lbs this month. I would describe it as, almost, not realizing how much I'm eating, not feeling full or satisfied, and eating though I'm not hungry. Feeling compelled, if that makes sense. Right now, I don't want to stop the Mirapex because it works so well for the RLS and I don't have any other side effects or problems, just overeating. I'll likely see what the doctor suggests and check out forums for some advice. My advice is if you want to try this drug, realize that you might get some behavioral side effects and have your family be aware it might be a possibility so it doesn't get out of hand."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "This is in regards to my 83 year old father in law (FIL) and his taking pramipexole. He was switched to this med from ropinerole due to the same issues I am about to discuss. The fine print of side effects are what he, and consequently my husband and I are now dealing with. "...strong urges (such as increased gambling, increased sexual urges)..." Oh boy, this doesn't even come close. He does not see the problem, but when he is on either of these meds he is so far past being a dirty old man, I am shocked he's not been arrested yet. He is also belligerent and cannot be reasoned with. I am in the process of trying to get him changed again to something else. So, just a warning, if anyone sees this in yourself or someone else taking this."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "After 15 years of nightly Vicodin, and a false start with ropinirole (Requip; it gave me horrible hot flashes, and I'm a guy!!), we tried pramipexole. That was my magic bullet! After two months on .25 milligrams nightly, my doctor asked me to up it to .365 mg, and that is where I have stayed. I take it an hour before bed only. It has been a miracle for me as far as RLS!"
