Pramipexole for Parkinson's Disease "I was started on Mirapex for Parkinson's Disease. I have horrible pain, stiffness, tremors, headaches, dizziness, and the list goes on. I had been confined to bed for nearly a year due to my complications. The very day I began taking the Mirapex, we began to see improvement. As my dosage was increased, I continued to show more and more improvement. Mirapex is giving me my life back...slowly but surely! The only complications I have are when my dosage is increased. I have slight nausea and tiredness but other than that I have had no other side effects."

Pramipexole for Restless Legs Syndrome "Doctor recommended this after trying gabapentin (in which gabapentin was very helpful, just made me extremely tired throughout the day). First day I took it, hit me like a train. I could tell my body was getting uneasy, so I quickly got myself ready for bed because I wasn’t sure what I was in for. The second I laid in bed, extreme nausea and dizziness. I was waiting for my food to come right back up that I had just eaten. My body was just taking a toll, I had to call into work the next day because I still felt sick when I woke up. Then, after reading other reviews, I decided that was the last time I would ever take that pill again."

Pramipexole for Parkinson's Disease "I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. I was started on Mirapex. After 3 weeks of therapy, I had to stop due to severe side effects: auditive hallucinations, nausea, peripheral edema, muscle pain, vivid dreams, and the worst, difficulty sleeping, having the need to get up and move constantly. I'm sure that this is a very good medication, but I couldn't tolerate the side effects."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "I have had RLS since I was around 15 that I first remember having that weird feeling in my legs. I have tried Requip, it made me sick to my stomach at about week 3. I have been on Pramipexole since 2002, and to me, it's a GODSEND! I love feeling NORMAL. I take it every day, .5 mg morning and evening. But two items caught my eye in reading these reviews. 1. The shopping compulsion? I wondered where that was coming from. It makes total sense now, but still, I love feeling normal, and I do not want to stop taking it. I'll fight the shopping. Second item, people made comments that they have to keep taking more and more. I have been on it for 16 years, and my script has never increased. I have it in my arms also, but find no need to take a higher dose. I usually feel it because I missed a dose. This is my number one med, I will not stop taking it."

Pramipexole for Restless Legs Syndrome "I have had restless leg syndrome all my life. I can remember when I was about 5 or 6 telling my mom my feet tickle... didn't know how else to explain it at that age. Today I am 39 years old and am only alive because of Mirapex. My RLS has become so severe that without this medication I would not sleep. One time I was without my medication and was up for 3 days straight. Ended up in the emergency room many times when I didn't have any medication just to get some form of relief. I currently take Mirapex 1 mg at night, but sometimes will have to take a half during the day. My RLS will bother me mid-afternoon at times and when it's really bad will go into my hands and forearms. I am eternally grateful for Mirapex despite the side effects of nausea, tired, and weak."

Pramipexole for Restless Legs Syndrome "Delighted to hear others have benefited by taking Mirapex, I have had very mixed results. It certainly has alleviated my symptoms connected with Restless Legs Syndrome. But the relief came with a price. I became so nauseated that I was up all night, so after three nights I had to stop taking the medicine. I found Percocet the ideal replacement."

Pramipexole for Restless Legs Syndrome "I took Mirapex for moderate RLS for about a year, and it worked like a charm. Then I began to develop side effects bad enough to force me to quit. Eventually, within 30 minutes of taking Mirapex at night, I would experience severe nausea and vomiting that would last for hours."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "The first and only night I took pramipexole for RLS was so bad. I went to bed immediately after taking it. I get nervous taking new meds, so I thought I could just sleep through any mild side effects. I woke up 2 hours later with nausea, vomiting, slurred speech, and weakness. My boyfriend found me on the floor having extreme muscle spasms. He thought I was seizing. I spent the rest of the night sweating and weak. I’m not saying it doesn’t work for others, just be very cautious, make sure someone is home with you when you take it for the first time."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "I have suffered from Restless Leg Syndrome since the age of 14, now I am 65. Mine has always been accompanied by fibromyalgia in my legs, which in addition to RLS would ache deeply to the bone. I was put on amitriptyline for over 30 years, which helped at the beginning but quickly stopped working. I suffered greatly, and life was hell. A year ago, I asked my doctor for gabapentin, but she put me on pramipexole instead. At the first dose, I got so sick to my stomach and dizzy that I stopped taking it. I continued to suffer, so I tried taking it again. The first few days were rough with the nausea and dizziness, but I kept taking it until those side effects stopped, and for the first time in 51 years, my legs were calm!! It was truly a miracle. Side effects now are just constipation and sleep disturbance from having to urinate often, but it's worth it. My dose had to be increased to 1 mg, but it's still doing its job. This drug has saved my life."

Pramipexole for Restless Legs Syndrome "I took Mirapex for a couple of months with my severe restless leg syndrome. It seemed to help, but I would wake up in the middle of the night and in the morning before work and have severe nausea and vomiting. I am now taking Requip, and it has been doing the same thing."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "My doctor gave me this when I told him about my RLS. It's been coming on gradually, and now I can hardly stand it. It's agonizing, and I'm fed up. At first, it made me not feel good. But I also take Gabapentin and Celexa. I take one 0.25 mg every night. I'm shocked to hear it might cause impulse control. That's a problem for me because I used to gamble. I haven't for years, but you don't have to gamble to have impulse control issues. I'm wondering if I need to up my dose. I have quit methadone for pain. I broke my neck and have taken every pain med known to man. I took it for at least 13 years, only 10 mg per night. So now, doctors can't prescribe methadone long term. So I was forced to get off it, and now I have so much pain, all over my body. Add the RLS on top of all that. So having RLS definitely reduced my quality of life. I'm so hopeful this works for me. I'm on my 4th or 5th month, I think, and I've gotten used to it as far as the nausea and feeling icky. I just wish it worked better!"

For Parkinson's Disease "As for the tremors, pramipexole stopped them almost immediately. However, I had side effects that made taking this impossible. The sleepiness I could handle. But the brain fog. I could be in the middle of a conversation and totally forget the words or what the conversation was about, or that there was someone else in the room. After a couple of days, the nausea was so bad I barely left the bathroom."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "Took this medication once, and I felt like I got hit by a truck a few hours after I took it. My eyes got achy and sore, I got super nauseous, my head hurt so badly, and guess what? My RLS was still bothering me. This medication was the worst drug I've ever been prescribed, and you can absolutely bet I'm not taking it anymore. I'd rather just deal with the RLS. With this medication, I had RLS plus feeling terrible. No thanks. Take this at your own risk. Nausea is a big side effect."
