Polyethylene glycol 3350 for Constipation, Acute "I’m a healthy 24-year-old female. Usually very regular. But after a recent round of antibiotics, I was suddenly constipated for about 9 days. I tried everything: Metamucil, prune juice, Dulcolax. I finally decided to try MiraLAX. The first time I took a capful, the recommended dosage, it did nothing. Then a couple of days later, I upped the dosage. I poured half the bottle into about 8 oz of prune juice and chugged it. I didn’t feel anything until 3 1/2 hours later (around 10:30 pm). When I tell y’all BUBBLE. GUTS. The most sudden and abrupt bout of gas, gurgling, cramping, and farting. I felt like I was going to poop my pants. I ran to the bathroom. Everything in my stomach was melted and pouring out of me. Not all liquid, just very, very soft stool coming out in a steady stream. For the rest of the night and into today (it’s 3 pm), I’m battling diarrhea. It’s not as bad now, and the cramping has stopped. But I feel so much lighter and relieved."

For Constipation "I bought this laxative after seeing the commercial on TV - I thought it would be effective with few side effects. It is a complete waste of money. After 3 days, I am extremely uncomfortable. I have constant abdominal cramps and pressure, terrible gas, and only managed to pass a small bowel movement. I have even increased the dosing to twice a day to try and get relief, but to no avail. I will not use this laxative again."

For Constipation "39-year-old male. I have had a lot of problems with having bowel movements for the last year. Recently, I went for two weeks with no bowel movement at all, and the doctor wrote me a script for polyethylene glycol. I have been taking it for almost two weeks, and I have no gas or diarrhea. I am now going to the restroom two to three times a day. What a difference this has made! I used to feel sleepy and run down all the time, having no energy. I'm sure that it was all the toxins building up in my system. After a week, I am feeling much better, and I have a lot more energy, I’m doing more than I have in a long time. I wish my doctor would have told me about this a long time ago. If you have tried everything else, don't give up, give this a try."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 for Constipation "As I aged, my bowel motions became increasingly difficult. The physicians I consulted recommended more water, dietary fiber, exercise, etc., but none had a lasting effect. I tried synthetic glucose derivatives-lots and lots of gas and cramps! For me, dietary fiber produced too much uncontrolled gas. The osmotic agents produced too much water loss, and I was warned about potential electrolyte imbalance. Finally, I tried PEG3350, and Nirvana! It's convenient, tasteless, dissolves in all liquids, stable, and for me, no apparent side effects. I discovered if I titrate the dose, I control the nature of my bowel motion. As an OTC product, it seems to be one of those rare preparations that won't put me in the hospital."

For Constipation "Terrible cramping, humiliating gas, and gut-wrenching diarrhea for two days, and still going on -- after taking only 1/2 teaspoon for 2 days. All websites fail to explain what ingredients are in this medication while warning me away from allergic reactions to the ingredients."

For Constipation "I took this for constipation secondary to hypothyroidism. It didn't work until I took three in a day. Then maintained at two a day. Could cause bloating and gas, but okay, better to poo and put up with some gas! I really don't like taking the synthetic compound. Isn't it an antifreeze ingredient? I have developed skin issues like some spots on my face, dry skin, and gained half a stone. But to be fair, I don't know if that's this medication or hypothyroidism, as I need to do another blood test. Laxido and Movicol are the brands I have access to. I did shit my pants once. That was near the beginning when I had plenty to give to be cleared out! I'm now going to try lactulose instead, as I think it's a bit less synthetic chemicals. I took 30 ml earlier, and it's already working. Taken at the right dose, Poly works, but can have some side effects."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 "I am now 63, had many colonoscopies, this time I had to also do an endoscopy, so I came here and ClearLax had the highest reviews. I tried Miralax, which is another name for it, but for some reason ClearLax worked out much better. I drank it with my eight mixed glasses, with four of them 7-Up, no sugar, and could not tell it had prep in it. The other four had two different flavors of Powerade, and they also had very little taste of it in them. It helped clean me out with no problems, along with two Dulcolax tablets, and then I had two simethicone tabs for bloating and gas. I bought it all myself at Walmart for under $25. It was the easiest and best colonoscopy prep experience I've ever had. I will definitely stick with ClearLax, most don't realize it's your choice what prep to take."
