Penicillin v potassium for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I think it's the 1st time having these - the fact you need to take a 500 mg pill on an empty stomach causes me to feel nauseous and can smell/taste the medication if I burp. Tonsillitis is better, though!"

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed this (500 mg, 3x a day) for a wisdom tooth abscess. After just one day of taking it, the pain is already much less intense. I'm not done yet, but so far, I haven't had any side effects beyond some nausea. I've taken much more unpleasant antibiotics in the past (metronidazole being the worst, but still doable) - this one is really not bad at all."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Had surgery recently and was sent home with this medication to take for post-op. Prescription was 4 pills a day... Had a week's supply. Day 2, I'm severely light-headed, feeling like I'm going to faint any time I move. I was off and on nauseous. My body felt extremely weak. I typically had chills and cold sweats about an hour after taking the pill every time I took it. I also experienced minor difficulty breathing, as if my breathing was suddenly off rhythm and shallow. I stopped taking the medication on day 3 and fully recovered. Not the pill for me."

Penicillin v potassium for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I took this medication for a nerve infection and ate food while I was taking it, but within a couple of days, I started feeling nauseous, had a fever, and was throwing up. Ever since then, I've stopped taking it. Will NEVER take this medication again due to it causing me to be more anxious and more worried about being nauseous and throwing up."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Worked to some extent, but the first couple of days of taking it, I felt really nauseous, ended up with a fever, and was throwing up. I've stopped taking it since then. I will forever blame penicillin for making my worry about being nauseous and throwing up worse."

For Streptococcal Infection "I have been on it for 5 days for strep throat and seen a bit of progress but not much. And I get a very upset tummy. Also makes me cough, making me gag, making me want to throw up."

Penicillin v potassium for Bacterial Infection "Honestly, I felt better about 4 hours after beginning treatment with this for an infected/abscessed tooth. Surprisingly quick, considering the amount of pain I was in. The downside, for me at least, seems to be slight nausea/dizziness. I had taken ibuprofen earlier due to pain, so this meant bad times in front of the toilet. Be careful with other meds that may upset your stomach."
