Oxcarbazepine "My daughter has been on Trileptal for 2 years now, and she did have a small seizure during the first 4 months, but after increasing the dose to 5 ml twice a day, she has had nothing but a few migraines since. In another month or two, we are planning on slowly taking her off. So I will find out soon exactly how well it has been working."

"I am a 19-year-old male who was diagnosed with left temporal lobe epilepsy at the age of 5, and the cause is unknown. I had daytime complex partial seizures commonly and nighttime grand mal seizures rarely. I started with Keppra, causing me to be violent and aggressive. I then switched to oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) and only had positive effects. It stopped grand mal seizures but only slightly reduced the complex partial seizures. My epilepsy is refractory, and I may have surgery after they do an SEEG test to see what side my language is on. The partial seizures have symptoms of voices, fear, confusion, and goosebumps on the left side of the body. I should mention I was also born deaf in my left ear. The cause is also unknown because all the parts are functioning."

"All this came about when I felt ringing in the ears from the other seizure meds. I changed over to this present med and now have all the above, but I can't cut down as I end up passing out on the street while walking, or sometimes when I drive a car, so I have to take the full dose and put up with the side effects."

"My first seizure 23 years ago caused by an AVM. I took 600 mg in the morning and 600 mg nightly, and it was very successful for 21 years, with no side effects. Then, two years ago, I had a massive tonic-clonic seizure in the hospital for five days. My sodium level was below 100, at that level, it gets dangerous - please listen - it is caused by oxcarbazepine. Keep your eye on the sodium level and talk to your neurologist."

Oxcarbazepine "I've been on Oxtellar XR 1200 mg/day for several years and it completely controls my partial seizures. I have not noticed any ill side effects. I had been on Trileptal before, but it made me sleepy for a few hours after taking it, and Oxtellar XR does not tire me out. It is very expensive if you don't have a decent prescription plan. As far as I know, there is no generic equivalent available."

"I have been on the extended release of this medicine 450 mg/600 mg - 1050 mg/day for the past 12 yrs and have been 100% seizure-free. I have minimal side effects but do have mild hyponatremia (125), which my doctor suggested to add more salt to the diet and drink little water at a time instead of a lot (which I was doing) and also prescribed salt tablets, which really don't bother me. This medicine gave me the freedom to live a normal life."

Oxcarbazepine "My daughter is 5 years old and has been healthy and has been developing at a normal rate. I heard a loud thud. I found my daughter on the floor. There was vomit on the bed, and my daughter was on the floor. It lasted 15 minutes. It was so scary. She was jerking very violently, and her eyes were rolling in the back of her head. It was horrible. No one should have to see their child like that. My doctor is saying she's had seizures. She had an MRI, an EEG, they did a spinal tap. After returning from the hospital, my daughter experienced vomiting. I could not bear to see my daughter going through this problem at the early age of her life. I read a lot of fake testimonies at blogs, Facebook, and websites of people that were cured from seizures."

"The biggest problem for me with this medicine is a bad taste and lack of appetite. Everything smells horrible, and I am losing weight like crazy. Anybody else has a similar experience?"
