For Trigeminal Neuralgia "This medicine was heaven sent! At first, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to tolerate it, but after a few weeks, it got into my system and leveled out, it was fine. My pain from TN is completely gone. I'm taking 600 mg at night. With no side effects :) With this medication and my Father God, I'm doing good :) Don't give up on this med, give it time to work! Hope this helps :)"

For Bipolar Disorder "This drug has changed my life. I was misdiagnosed for years and told I have depression only. I was on Zoloft and thought that was how I was supposed to feel. Mood swings almost every day for 10 plus years. A rocky marriage and a substandard father. I turned to alcohol because it was the only thing that made me feel good. Once I was officially diagnosed as bipolar after a complete meltdown and hospital stay, I can honestly say I feel 100 percent better and no longer abuse alcohol. It calms my moods and allows me to have a healthy relationship with my family. Currently taking 300 mg twice a day and also in Lamictal 100 mg twice a day. I feel amazing."

For Anxiety "My main issue was facing depression for years and took several antidepressants in the past. I don't have bipolar, but my psychiatrist decided to try a mood stabilizer for the first time since antidepressants weren't working, and since I tried to commit suicide for the 2nd time a few months back. Trileptal has completely taken away my depression. Even when I hit a bump in the road, I'm not even close to the person I was a few months ago. I'm able to work 6 days a week, have more energy, and my thoughts of suicide are no longer present. Having a BA in psychology, I want to add that meds are not a 'cure,' but sometimes they are better than wanting to take your life and at least be an aid to help you get back on track."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was diagnosed bipolar in my early twenties. I have been on numerous medications for bipolar, but none of them quite did it for me. I quit treating my mental illness with medication out of frustration and anger. My life took a detour through the darkest shades of life I’ve ever seen. Now, in my mid-forties, I’ve come to terms that I can’t leave my bipolar in limbo. So, I sought help, and my doctor put me on Triliptal, and I truly feel like life’s finally going to be filled with joy and sunshine again."

For Bipolar Disorder "I love oxcarbazepine. I have bipolar II, and I've tried a variety of different meds, and this is the only thing that has me feeling any kind of normal. Some meds make it worse, some reduce symptoms but also make me flat and not like myself anymore. I cannot say enough good things about this - it's amazing. If you're looking for the right med for you and you haven't done the gene interaction test, please ask your doctor! It's a blood test that can tell which meds are most likely to work for you, which ones will be mediocre, and which ones are bad news (and why!). All this brain chemistry stuff is different for everyone. There are drugs that people swear by that have pushed me off the deep end (looking at you, Zoloft...), but stuff that works for me messes other people up. Get the test!"

For Neuropathic Pain "I’ve tried many prescriptions for foot neuropathy with hardly any relief. Neither Lyrica nor a very high dose of gabapentin worked. Oxcarbazepine does work for neuropathic pain!! I’ve been on 150 mg X 3 daily for over a year and it has given me relief like I haven’t had in years!"

For Anxiety "I suffer from chronic depression and high anxiety all my life. Other medications work, but I am so out of touch with reality that I choose not to take them. I started a 300mg twice a day dose of oxcarbazepine with 50mg of Pristiq. I have only been taking this for two weeks, but so far, everything is great. I am experiencing what it's like to be 'normal,' a feeling I have rarely experienced, so it feels a little abnormal. Life is much better now, the best I have ever felt. I hope it works for years to come."

For Anxiety "I used Trileptal for anxiety and had to stop it because I got to where I couldn’t remember anything, not even the next word I was trying to say to form a sentence. My whole thought process had become nonexistent! My boyfriend said that he noticed a change in me about 8-9 months ago and saw me go from being anxious to someone that was just a slug that couldn’t form a sentence or hold a conversation that made sense. I had asked my psychiatrist about it, but she didn’t say or do anything. She just recently passed away from a recurring illness and the psychiatrist that filled her spot took me off of it and it’s been a day and a half and I feel like I “woke up” and I’m alive and can just hear and see better, like I was living in a huge brain fog, it seems. I feel like a normal person again and am working on regaining my thoughts!"

For Bipolar Disorder "My file says I have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, severe depression, and anxiety, and some other issues. I don't completely agree with my file, but I do know that I was completely miserable all my life until being on Trileptal for a while and then adding Abilify to the mix. I've tried countless psychiatric medicines, and none of them were a good experience until Trileptal. Trileptal worked so well for me that after a while, I thought I was 'cured', so I stopped taking it. Once it wore off, I realized the hard way that Trileptal is like a miracle for me, and I cannot live without it. If it doesn't work for you, remember to keep trying until you find something that does; it took more than 10 years of trial and error to find what works for me."

Oxcarbazepine "Have tried and failed literally 10 other medications. I thought my options in the future were either ECT, experimenting with psychedelics, or suicide. Tried this as a Hail Mary with my therapist, and oh...my...god. Normalcy for the first time in 6 years. I was dealing with severe mood swings and anxiety (my OCD symptoms I think are from such a high general angst) that I was ready to give up. Within 5 days of this, I wasn't feeling much - therapist said give it a few more days and then up the dose if still nothing. I gave it a few more days and all of a sudden they just kept getting better. I can't say enough good things. It was like setting me back to the person I was before I got sick overnight. If you're thinking of trying this, please do. I have zero side effects thus far. I am making sure to drink a glass or two of salt water daily also as I'm a sweater and trying to offset the low sodium."

For Anxiety "Amazing effects on my borderline paranoid rage. Ask for a low dose if you're trying it! Doctors prescribe this at 600-1200 mg regularly, from what I understand, but my out-of-control rage is well-controlled on 300-450 mg daily, and I don't get any of the crazy side effects people complain of. I don't understand why doctors are so eager to dump unnecessary amounts into people. What could be helpful becomes too difficult to deal with because of side effects. I've been on this medicine before, and it works amazingly. I never should have gone off it, but I mistakenly thought I had better control now. This medicine changed my life."

Oxcarbazepine for Seizures "I have been on Trileptal for about a month now. I'm taking 300 mg twice a day. I had an abnormal EEG and diagnosed with right-sided temporal lobe epilepsy. I started having pain 5 years ago - intense, daily pain in my right eye and eventually extended further up on the right side of my head (which is related to the epilepsy). I was also suffering from repeated inappropriate thoughts (of sexual nature) very disturbing and disrupted my life. I have since found out that OCD behavior very frequently accompanies temporal lobe epilepsy. Trileptal has stopped the partial seizures and inappropriate thoughts. Indocin 25 mg is controlling the pain. Hope this helps others."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Trileptal for about 5 years now, and I feel a lot better than I did before. I was on like 3 or 4 other medications beforehand, and I kept telling my doctor they weren't working. So finally, I switched to a different doctor who actually listened, and he put me on Trileptal. I haven't had any episodes or anything since being on this medication. I take 600 mg twice daily, and let me tell you, I feel so great and wonderful. I would recommend this medicine to anyone to take."

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "My girlfriend has been on oxcarbazepine for about 8 months, and she has been hospitalized for low sodium three times before they figured out that oxcarbazepine was causing it. This is a very serious condition. I'm glad it works for some people, but be careful. It worked for her except for the side effects, unfortunately."

Oxcarbazepine for Bipolar Disorder "I have taken this medicine for about six months now. It has been such a life changer for me! I was on Depakote as a mood stabilizer for my not terribly severe bipolar disorder. Depakote caused weight gain. Since I have been on Trileptal, I have lost 30 lbs and feel great. I am just about to start my student teaching in college and I am more confident than ever that I will succeed with flying colors."

For Bipolar Disorder "This medicine is a godsend. I was previously taking Depakote & Seroquel & got so sick & tired of my previous dr not listening to my concern of feeling like a zombie all day & trying to nod off during the day. Once I changed dr's, my current dr heard my concerns & introduced me to Trileptal. By far this is the BEST I've been doing since my correct diagnosis in 2009! I couldn't be happier w/my current progress, both not feeling like a zombie, but now also being able to thoroughly enjoy life with my first child I had in Oct 2015. I feel both the most leveled out I've felt in quite some time, but also without the awful effect of feeling 'drugged up' per se & actually feel regular human emotion, haha. I'd totally recommend this script!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I was diagnosed with bipolar 14 years ago. The first medicine they gave me was Depakote, which made my hair fall out. Then they put me on lithium, which I have been on for 14 years, and whenever I would try to go off it, I would get manic really bad, so I have had to stay on it. Well, I recently weaned myself off lithium due to weight gain and hair thinning out. My doctor then prescribed Trileptal. I have been on it for two days, and I already feel 100 percent better. I feel stabilized and in a very, very good mood. It's like a happy pill so far. I am very happy."

Oxcarbazepine for Seizures "I had my first seizure at the age of 20, I am healthy otherwise. I was diagnosed with a type of seizure caused by a small heterotopia and put on 600 mg of Trileptal twice daily. I was seizure-free for 15 years until 3 days ago. The only side effect was weight gain. I see my neurologist tomorrow and am anticipating an increase in dose. I would highly recommend this medicine to anyone doing research."

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "I have been on this drug for 7 years. It is the only medication that works for the intense pain. I am on a very strong dose, 1200 mg 3 times daily, and even taking this dose, I still have some breakthrough pain (spring and fall). The only side effect I don't like is getting tired. However, I would rather have that than the pain."

For Bipolar Disorder "Tried a few mood stabilizers this year. Lamictal made me severely agitated and couldn't sleep a wink. Zyprexa turned me into the Cookie Monster and made me put on weight very fast. Put on this and have had great results. I don't get upset like I used to, and the racing thoughts have diminished greatly along with the anxiety."

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "Diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia in 2011 after 2 root canals and 2 crowns. A new dentist sent me to an oral surgeon who knew what it was right away. Saw a neurologist, and he confirmed the diagnosis and prescribed oxcarbazepine. It took a number of weeks to ramp up the meds to the correct level due to nausea. Currently taking 900 mg at night. Really makes me feel loopy and drowsy. I have been pain-free for most of the past 6 years. I also play trumpet daily, which amazes my neurologist. However, I feel I am not as sharp as I used to be (just turned 60) and have memory problems to the point of literally not recalling details of recent things. (Long-term memory is fine.) There are also times during the day that I feel very sleepy."

For Anxiety "Oxcarbazepine made my anxiety go away. I was a mess of rumination, severe worrying, couldn’t sleep, worrying about the future, and had thoughts of suicide daily because I was so depressed. My doctor prescribed this, but I was skeptical. Now I take 300 mg once daily at night. It has changed my life. I will never stop taking it if I don’t have to. I’ve been on it for 2 years, and all those symptoms are gone! It never made me feel sick, just sleepy, so I take it at night. I wish I had gotten help sooner. I didn’t do myself any favors as I went on YouTube watching people get sick from taking it, so I was scared to try it. None of that happened to me. Within about a week, I was feeling better. Note, I also take 10 mg of Lexapro daily. I split it in half and take 5 mg in the morning and the other 5 in the evening. I started taking Lexapro first, but nothing really happened to help. Once I started the oxcarbazepine, that’s when things changed for the better."

Oxcarbazepine for Seizures "This was the medication. I had epilepsy for 8 years, mainly during puberty years. I was on Trileptal once before the last time, but due to the low dosage, the medication was ineffective. I went to a new doctor, and he placed me back on Trileptal but increased the dosage of the pill, and that was the beginning of being 4 years seizure-free. Then, I was given the news after 5 years that I had officially outgrown my epilepsy."
