For Depressive Psychosis "Pros and cons. After 6 months on Clozapine, my prescription was changed to Olanzapine because I moved back to the UK, where it is harder to prescribe Clozapine. After the changeover, my sleep hours went from 12 to roughly 10, and my appetite maintained the same (I put on some healthy weight). Unfortunately, I am more sensitive to stress, to the point where I did not continue with my summer job because the relatively small amount of stress I was under was enough for me to sometimes lose some lucidity while at work or in some social situations. Though less tired, I have already experienced more paranoia than when I was on Clozapine."

For Schizophrenia "I was delusional before taking my first antipsychotic (Olanzapine). This drug made it all worse. I started to hear many voices in my head and other psychotic symptoms. It was like it was just too hard. It did nothing but worsen my psychosis. It may work for you, etc., etc. Everybody is different. It just made me feel so bad, and I took it for maybe 4 or 5 days and just couldn't take how it made me feel and also the demons and suspicions."

For Schizophrenia "I had a crazy paranoia after having a 4th child. They said severe postnatal depression. I agreed. Something wasn't right. But meds took my paranoia in the next 3 days, which is wonderful, but as I was eating healthy, I started to munch on 2500 calories a day. I really recommend getting a substitute. I will ask the doctor tomorrow."

For Bipolar Disorder "Was prescribed this medication for bipolar. It caused a serious amount of weight gain! I was CONSTANTLY hungry. So hungry, it was almost painful! Gained 42 lbs. I had to get off of it! When I got off, withdrawals were TERRIBLE! I began to feel mildly paranoid and experienced really severe insomnia! Had to take sleeping pills every night!!! Well, a couple months later, I'm STILL suffering. The insomnia is going away, but I am extremely paranoid! I constantly think people are out to get me, everyone hates me, everyone is talking about me!!! I've never had paranoia THIS BAD!!! I also struggle immensely with depression and anger! When I first got off of it, I felt CRAZY!!! PLEASE, DO NOT take this med. You might feel okay for the time you are on it, but withdrawal, even when done correctly, WILL make you LOSE YOUR MIND!!! I have taken almost every med out there, I'm nearly out of options, but never before have I taken a med with withdrawal effects this bad."

Olanzapine for Paranoid Disorder "I was misdiagnosed, and wrongly put on this medicine. It causes psychosis in individuals inappropriately put on it. It took me ten years to find doctors who could say this was a possibility."

For Schizophrenia "Olanzapine has saved my life, and I'm now in recovery. I've been on Olanzapine for 6 months, and it's finally stopped the auditory and visual hallucinations. My thoughts are more organized, and I'm thinking more clearly. It took about 5 months to resolve all my psychosis symptoms and required dose adjustments. I'm now taking 25 mg, and it's been a total game changer."
