For Pain "Great pain medication! My doctor suggested it after taking 8-10 Vicodin 10's per day. I started with 20 mg/12 hours, then graduated to 60 mg after about 8 months. I did not like the 'disconnected' feeling associated with the medication increase; at that time, it was a small price to pay for pain relief. I currently take Opana in IM and EX; I am having quite favorable results, and when compared to Kadian, they seem quite similar, except Opana processes through the kidney. (Good)"

For Pain "I have recently had to stop using the Fentanyl patches after several years of good results. But my body finally said it had had enough. So, I tried Kadian, which stopped working after a week or so. Now I am on Opana ER, which seems to do a fair job, but it feels too much like Demerol. I take 20 mg twice a day and was using 80 mg twice of Kadian, 100 mg of Fentanyl every 48 hours. I wish they would make Fentanyl in a pill form. I have no 'woosy' feeling with it. I have 5 ruptured discs in my lower back, as well as stenosis, etc. I have tried surgeries, stimulator, etc."

For Pain "I have severe back pain due to an injury that eventually resulted in three lower back surgeries. I have been on Kadian for a couple of years, and I do not find it very effective at all. I am in misery most of the time."

For Chronic Pain "I have been using Kadian for at least 9 years now. I haven't ever had the need to increase dosage, unlike Oxy, etc. My pharmacy wholesaler stopped carrying Kadian a few months ago, and I have been sick ever since. Headaches, loose bowels, and G.I. distress. I am searching for Kadian without much luck."

For Chronic Pain "I started taking Kadian for a couple of days, then swapped back to my MS-Contin until my next doctor visit to see what we need to do about the dosage. I started with the 10mg ER, which was good through the day but had 'the jitters' most of the time, which I didn't like. Then it only lasted for maybe 10 hours and then started to detox and was awake the biggest part of the night until I was so tired I fell asleep around 4 a.m. The next day, I took it again about 8 a.m., then took a second dose around 7 p.m., then stayed awake all night with 'the jitters' until 5 a.m. So I changed back to my 30mg MS-Contin until I can see my doctor. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy with the change, so I'm hoping for something better, or I'll just have to pay $80 a month for the MS-Contin."

"I started taking Kadian about a year ago for spinal stenosis. I was taking 30 mg once a day. After a fall, they increased it to 2 a day. It works wonderfully for me. If I miss a day (and I do occasionally if I am not hurting), I pay for it the next day. It seems to leave my body fast, so I try to take it even if I am feeling no pain now. I take Lortab 7.5 twice a day in between the Kadian, but only as needed. I went today for my 2nd epidural. I hope this works."

For Chronic Pain "I was recently switched to this from Butrans patches and 1 mg hydromorphone. I have lots of digestive issues as well as lupus. I take this one time a day. I dump the inside of the pill into a small glass of water and take it that way (a nurse showed me this). It is a godsend! I can take 1 pain pill a day, and it helps give me my life back. I just started. So I’m only on 30 mg. I go up every 2 weeks. This medication has no side effects like some I’ve been on. And only 1 pill a day, I love!"

For Chronic Pain "After an MVA when I was 17 and having been on many opiates to combat compression fractures, muscle damage, and arthritis in my neck, shoulder, and back, I was put on Kadian approximately 2 and a half years ago. While doing further research, I took notice that one major side effect was not mentioned. While helping with the pain, the drug made my nose run uncontrollably, which has been making my life unbearable, and I'm not the only one who has noticed. As a result, I am going to make the switch to Suplocade."

"Kadian is probably the strongest narcotic pain reliever I have used, maybe equal to fentanyl. If all else fails, this stuff should do the trick."
