"Huh. I’m feeling like crud on Remeron. My psychiatrist has me taking 90 mg at night, 75 mg of Effexor, and 750 mg of gabapentin. She prescribed it for PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I have crazy dreams, and I guess I sleepwalk according to my housemates. It’s hard to wake up and run my business. My issues sucked, but this is worse."

"Instant side effects, all extreme. Lightheadedness, dry mouth; to the point it made not just my inner mouth dry, but my throat. Irritable isn't even the correct word. I was extremely angry, mad, and hostile for reasons that I can't even explain. My perception of depth was horrible. It took me three times just to pick something up off my counter. Every time I leaned to grab it, it seemed as if the object was further away. Definitely do NOT DRIVE!! I thought there was no way I would be able to have all of these side effects right away, and I was wrong. I went to the store to grab a slushy for my children. When I came back outside to get into the car, I realized that I was directly parked over the dividing line for two parked vehicles. HATED this med."

"(Note: I also take Propranolol 40 mg 3 x a day for anxiety since 2019.) I was first prescribed in August 2020, 30 mg. Immediate effects: sedation, nausea, muscle twitching. Slept 10-13 hours every night for about a week. Leveled out to 9-10 hours a night. First 8 months or so: dulled very intense anxiety and hypervigilance, alleviated crushing low mood, allowed me to get through trauma therapy. In early October 2021, started 45 mg as I was no longer sleeping well, feeling noticeably anxious/manic with possible psychosis. Initially, 45 mg induced 10-12 hour sleep, but after approaching 1 month, effects were wearing off. Side effects: twitching and tremor in legs before sleep, intense hunger, heightened anxiety plus elevated mood, racing thoughts, difficulty focusing. Somewhat heightened impulsive behavior means I am seeking new experiences, but it could be risky. In my opinion, most effective with short-term use, e.g., less than a year, but now I dread weaning off and imagine side effects will be rough."

"I have only been on 15 mg doses for a very short time, but already the nightmares have been less. I have fallen back to sleep after having one, and the flashbacks are not as vivid. My general mood appears better, but I’m still emotionally drained and cannot control as yet. But so far, so good."

"I am on 45 mg mirtazapine for PTSD and major depression, it has helped me a lot. I'm sort of at a plateau at the moment. I've been very down and hard to stop myself from getting suicidal again. I've had a lot of side effects like dizziness, fatigue, weight gain even though I don't eat a lot, nausea, etc. I tried to go down a dose but got really bad (suicidal), so the doc put me back up and said I have to stay on it. It hasn't helped with my nightmares, which are making me so exhausted. But in a bubble, mirtazapine is keeping me alive, so it's obviously working."

"I have PTSD, anxiety, and a TBI. Last night before bed, 10 pm, I took a 15 mg pill, fell asleep within an hour, woke up a half hour later soaking wet from my night sweats, and took a shower. I was a zombie. I know I took a shower, but don't really recall what happened. I woke up this morning around 8 am, which is not me, I'm usually up by 6 am. I had to go back to sleep because I couldn't wake up for anything, I felt like I overdid it with cold meds or sleeping meds - the lights were on, but nobody was home. Then I slept until 11 am and finally forced myself awake, still a zombie. I knew I needed to eat food, then I learned my taste buds are pretty much gone. Had cereal and a burger, can't taste anything. Drank a Rockstar and still tired as hell."

"I started taking mirtazapine as a replacement for Endep to aid sleep. The first two nights were fine, I fell asleep easily enough and had vivid dreams that were quite pleasant. I was waking about 3-4 times a night to take a leak and then back to sleep with enjoyable dreams. After two nights, sleeping was near impossible, there was no settling and nodding off. I've stopped taking mirtazapine and gone back to Endep, and sleeping is no problem."

"I have PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. :/ First night taking 7.5 mg of mirtazapine, and I'm very nervous since I had a very bad experience with Seroquel. Just hope it doesn't do the same as Seroquel did. My doctor said that this medicine is nothing like it, so hopefully I'll be okay. I've been tiny my whole life. When I got on Seroquel, it made me go from 115 to 160 pounds within a few months, so that made me happy and it helped me sleep, but what it did that I hated was that it brought on constant anxiety attacks that I couldn't really control and raised my heart rate to 180 one time because of the attack. Seroquel was literally the exact definition of hell. :( Hopefully mirtazapine helps me, 'cause I'm a huge hypochondriac. Lol, need advice."

"I was on Celexa, then Zoloft for post-traumatic stress disorder, and they left me feeling like I was at the bottom of a well looking up. Mirtazapine makes me feel human again."

"I haven't noticed any effect other than weird and vivid dreams, along with a reluctance to get out of bed in the morning. I started a couple of weeks ago with a low dose of half a 15 mg tab at night."

"Taking 15 mg seems to help. Should be on 30 mg but cut it in half as worried about not being able to stop taking it. Would like to stop taking it but concerned about how to stop."

"It works really well for my PTSD. I sleep well most nights. Good nights help to make better days. My side effects are, it makes you eat more, and it can bung you up a bit. Andy, UK"
