For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "I love it! Only positive effects for me. Helps my anxiety and dizziness/spotty vision. Also helps with my energy levels too! So helpful! 10/10. Only thing is how often I have to take it: every 4 hours."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "I get seizures with allergic reactions from mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), but I didn't when I first took this drug in 2016. Lots of goosebumps, tingling, tight scalp, chills, shivering, and felt like a zombie, though. Became a different person-dissociated, honestly. That'd never happened to me before, was so afraid. Doctor made me try again, seized the entire time, and the tingling burned so bad it felt like I was on fire. Got bradycardic within 2 hours of taking it, too. I get brady sometimes as it is (my heart rate was at 30 the other day), so this medication wasn't a good idea in the first place. Bad call on my doctor's part and bad call on mine for even listening to him."

For Hypotension "I was prescribed this for my low blood pressure. I was hoping it would work (which it did not). I tried it, and it gave me such bad chills, a prickling sensation, and goosebumps all over my body for several hours straight, up to almost 10 hours. My dose was 5 mg TID (three times a day). It made my nerve damage worse by making it hurt and have a pinching sensation. For the side effects, it was not worth it, even if there was a chance it would have worked, I still would not have taken this drug. It was awful, and I felt like I was being tortured. It was horrendous and up there with the most painful and yuckiest side effects one could experience from a drug. I am lost and have tried more pills, salt, and compression stockings. I am currently waiting for my insurance to approve another drug that is supposed to help with increasing my blood pressure, but I'm not having luck. Until then, I have to deal with the lows and being symptomatic sometimes, which is fatigue, palpitations, dizziness, or near passing out."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "Goosebumps on arms, legs, chest, and back; scalp tingling. Reduced my POTS episodes to one or two a month. Wish it were a once-a-day pill instead of every four hours. I take it early morning, lunch, and late afternoon."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "Midodrine does not affect postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, you need a beta-blocker for that (I am on Propranolol), which keeps your heart from kickstarting the fainting reflex that POTS patients are very susceptible to. Midodrine saved my life, it allows me to literally get up off the floor and get on with life. I have been on it for 10 years, it has a very short life span, so I take both medicines every 3 hours. I am able to function quite well, not super-duper, but I can do most things. If it ever is pulled off the market, I will literally be going to another country."

Midodrine for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "Has definitely helped, along with the Digoxin I take, to keep me from feeling faint or dizzy. Has improved my quality of life quite a bit. The side effects (for me) are not bad enough to make me stop taking it."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "My 19-year-old with COVID-induced POTS tried taking midodrine, and the side effects were not tolerable. One issue is she was freezing cold with goosebumps all over, and they were painful, like a stinging feeling. She only took it for a week, and then we stopped it."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "I was doing well on midodrine for my POTS, but also take propranolol and fludricortisone for it. After a few years, my blood pressure got too high, and my doctor had me stop the midodrine. My POTS is now running my life. I can't even walk around the house without being extremely dizzy."

For Hypotension "I have been using this drug by one manufacturer and had great results. These did not cost me under my insurance. Now I have to get it from another manufacturer, and it lowers my blood pressure even though it is supposed to be the same product. And now I have to pay for it."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "Not the drug for me personally. Suffered with POTS for 10+ years, now starting new medicines for it. I was prescribed 10 mg Midodrine to start. No improvement of POTS symptoms and was on it for about a month. No negative symptoms other than goosebumps at first, but after about a month on it, my blood pressure started shooting up and I felt super sick from it. I had high hopes because it helps so many people, but it just wasn't for me."

For Hypotension "It got me up to a normal blood pressure, which was so nice, but I cannot tolerate the side effect. Each time I take it (without fail), my scalp becomes so itchy, it’s unbearable. I need to talk to my doctor and see if I can try something else for my low BP."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "I have POTS and as well as fluctuating heart rates, I'd get crazy arterial BP swings - up a little, down a little, and I started fainting at work and couldn't drive. Then I started Midodrine and after a week, the side effects went away and the benefits were amazing. Stable HR and stable BP but it works by increasing venous return in POTS rather than changing arterial BP. Literally kept me employed!"

For Hypotension "I have been using midodrine 5 mg for two years. Since using this generic brand, it is nowhere near as effective as another generic pharmaceutical. Winn-Dixie was carrying a brand made by Xiromed that was 10 times more effective."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "This drug, midodrine, is so short-acting, there is a small window of time that it helps. Am now on 10 mg tid, which is about the max dose. Have added fludrocortisone 0.1 bid to support BP and increased salt intake considerably. The salt really helps, the biggest, quickest way to increase salt intake is soy sauce! Propranolol 5 mg bid, a tiny, tiny dose, takes care of tachycardia."

For Dysautonomia "I was diagnosed with dysautonomia in 2020. At the time, I was having horrendous symptoms: fainting, vagus nerve triggers, profuse sweating, nausea, dizziness, heat intolerance. It was a horrible time as whatever triggered the reaction always just spiraled out of control, causing either severe sickness or passing out. After a tilt table test confirmed dysautonomia, I was put on Midodrine. What a huge improvement to my quality of life. I haven't passed out even once since starting Midodrine. I still have some of the symptoms, but they are drastically milder and more manageable. Prior to Midodrine, once an incident was triggered, it ruined the rest of the day, reducing me to a prone position while waiting for the symptoms to subside."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "Midodrine helps with my tachycardia, but it makes me itch. If I take doses back to back, I have uncontrollable itching. When I first started it, I had an appointment to cut my hair, and the stylist told me I had a head full of scabs and open bleeding spots from all the itching."

For Hypotension "On May 29, 2023, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling extreme cold, shivered uncontrollably, and disoriented. My husband took my BP, it was 54/42. He was concerned and headed me to the hospital an hour away. I was in and out of consciousness all the way. When we arrived at the hospital, I passed out after they got me into a wheelchair. By the time they got me back and took my BP again, it was almost nonexistent, I was not aware of anything until I woke up in my hospital bed. My family doctor was concerned as my blood pressure remained pretty low. Up until this happened, it was around 127/80. He sent me to one of the best hospitals in eastern TN, Vanderbilt. They were not able to pinpoint why. Now that I am taking midodrine, my BP averages around 103/74, pulse 80-100, and I’m not tired all the time. I am taking 2.5 mg only 2 times a day, as the side effects of lightheadedness bother me. However, my BP sometimes spikes quite high unexpectedly, I feel hot and anxious."

For Hypotension "I had craniotomy surgery in July for a tumor that was benign, and here I was blaming all my pain, pressure in my head, and headaches on the craniotomy when it was midodrine all along. I do home hemodialysis at home. The doctor raised my dosage to 30 mg because my blood pressure drops when doing dialysis. I see him on Tuesday and will tell him I can’t take this dosage. It is too high. It doesn’t help, my blood pressure drops in the middle of doing my treatment, then towards the end it comes back up. I do not like this medicine, but it looks like I have no choice. It does help bring the blood pressure up in the beginning, but then BP drops again. I decided to take 20 mg in the morning, and then when my BP drops again, I will take the additional 10 mg. The last time this happened, I took it and I felt better."

Midodrine for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "Didn't seem to lower my heart rate very much, except when I tried to walk around in physical therapy class. Then it caused a severe drop in my heart rate, from about 95 in the relaxed sitting position to below the 50s when I walked a few yards. Bradycardia is a documented side effect, and unfortunately, one I suffered from. Also had lots of goosebumps, tingling scalp, chills, and flushing throughout the day. I'm not totally knocking it, because I know it works for some POTS patients, but it wasn't the medicine for me."
