For Dysautonomia "After trying a few other drugs in combination, adding midodrine was what enabled me to get out of bed and sit up without fainting, dizziness, and drastic hypotension. I can now stand and walk, and participate in life when before, I was bed-bound. Yes, I now have very itchy, sensitive skin and scalp; but I will gladly suffer that slight annoyance to be able to function. I am glad it's a shorter-acting drug, even though I have to dose in the middle of the day because it gets out of my system before I go to bed and don't change from hypotension to hypertension."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "I was on 10 mg midodrine for years for my P.O.T.S. I’ve had this condition for 17 years and am now 70. When I started taking this script, it cost me $450.00 a month! It was extremely hard to come up with that cash, but it was the only thing that worked. (I also take 5 mg of nadolol.) I take 10 mg every 4 hours in the daytime and sleep in a head-elevated bed. My blood pressure rose too high last year, and my doctor took me off of it. It was a struggle. I am back on it now because I had an infection, and every time I get sick, POTS returns with a vengeance. I do feel the itchy and tingly scalp, but that goes away as time goes on. My cost is very reasonable now that I’m on Medicare. I can put up more with this med but still can’t drive because I feel like everything is shutting down, and I can’t concentrate on the road. I never want to be without this medication. It doesn’t make me as strong on my feet as healthy people my age, but at least it is a good crutch for a more normal life."

For Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome "Midodrine helps with my tachycardia, but it makes me itch. If I take doses back to back, I have uncontrollable itching. When I first started it, I had an appointment to cut my hair, and the stylist told me I had a head full of scabs and open bleeding spots from all the itching."
