For Bacterial Infection "Pathetic medicine. I was prescribed Flagyl 400 mg, 3 times a day for 3 days. After day one, I felt the side effects immediately. Tiredness, fatigue, headaches, and increased sensitivity being the major ones. The worst part is, after completing my course, I'm still feeling the side effects. Sensitivity to light has increased along with dizziness and fatigue!"

For Bacterial Infection "Please do not take this drug. Ask for something else unless you are dying. I took Flagyl 3 months ago, and I'm still dealing with side effects. I've been to the ER multiple times, spent thousands of dollars on tests, have been in physical therapy for 6 weeks for how it affected my vestibular system. My entire body burns and tingles, my ears are ringing, I still have vertigo on a daily basis, and my vision has been completely wrecked. Please, please don't take this drug."

For Diverticulitis "I took Flagyl for diverticulitis for about 7 of the 10 days. The brain fog, dizziness, and feeling like my heart was affected made me look it up. I just stopped taking it, and within 24 hours, felt fine."

For Pelvic Inflammatory Disease "For the first couple of days, every time I took this, I was overcome with a severe migraine. After a few days, the migraines stopped, but what came next was far worse: insomnia, fever, fainting, no appetite, severe exhaustion, dizziness, and brain fog/decreased motor skills. Due to the medicine’s side effects, I was convinced my uterine infection was killing me, going septic. I couldn’t tell if I was sick from the infection or from the antibiotics - neither could the doctor. Hours after my final dose, I collapsed, BP dropped, fever and shakes set in. I spent the next 3 days in bed, unable to eat, with constant diarrhea, heart palpitations, vertigo, too nauseated to speak, unable to do anything but sleep. It has now been 4 days since I’ve been off the medication. I am still dizzy and quite weak, but I feel a little more normal. I hope the uterine infection has been properly managed. Time will tell if the side effects were worth it."

For Bacterial Infection "I was supposed to take this twice a day for 7 days. I took it for BV. The first 5 days were fine! It seems to clear up the smell and discharge really quick! I had very few symptoms until the 5th day. On the 5th day, it made my throat swell up to the point where I could barely swallow. Then it gave me extreme fatigue, lightheadedness, dizziness, and made me feel weak. I felt high. I stopped taking it after five days. I went to see my doctor the next day, and hopefully I won’t have to take this again."

For Bacterial Infection "I would stay away from this drug! My experience on Flagyl was traumatizing. I was dizzy for 2 months! The left side of my body was numb. Migraines every day, also had confusion. My vision was messed up, it was like looking out of 2 different lenses. It was a nightmare! I thought I was stuck like that for the rest of my life. Definitely not taking this again!"

For Bacterial Infection "I got bacterial vaginosis two months in a row from the birth control I was on. The first time I took Flagyl, it worked like a charm. My infection disappeared within a few days, and I felt a lot better, no side effects or anything. This month, I got prescribed for it again at 500 mg 3 times a day for 7 days. I got two days in and got hit by a train. The nausea and dizziness from this medication forced me to call off work twice. I finally downed the dose to 2 a day and now I'm forced to eat every 2 hours to avoid the nausea. I also had to start taking probiotics to avoid the C. diff that other users got. Overall, I'd say try something else. When it was bad for me, it was like being run over by a cart on fire."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed this medication for a bacterial infection. My dose was two 500 mg tablets twice a day. On my 6th day, I went in anaphylactic shock. I had noticed that I was dizzy on the second day and extremely fatigued. Apparently, I’m either allergic or one of those rare cases. Also, if you vape, quit vaping while taking this medication. Worst experience ever."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed Flagyl 500 mg twice a day for 10 days for BV. My only real symptom of BV was bleeding/unusual discharge between periods. I happened to start my period the day I started taking this medication, so I can’t say if it actually worked or not. I decided after day 5 to stop treatment, as a standard prescription is anywhere from 3-10 days. Side effects: no appetite. I lost some weight with this medication and had to force myself to eat something before taking it to avoid an upset stomach. Dark urine. I drink around 50 oz (almost 1.5 liters) of water a day, so this was so odd to see, but I knew it was from the meds. Dizziness, headache, and fatigue. Not consistently but randomly on different days of usage. Fatigue and dizziness on day 4. Dizziness and headache on day 5. Can’t knock it, but I can’t say yet if it actually worked or not."

For Bacterial Infection "I had constant nausea and mild diarrhea on it until I eliminated dairy products. Took more than 24 hours after the last serving, but both the nausea and the diarrhea went away. I've also experienced fatigue, vertigo, and a lot of trouble concentrating. Ugh. But it does seem to be doing the job. I'm taking it and another antibiotic for an infected surgical wound."

For Bacterial Infection "I am on day 6 of day 7 twice a day. I feel horrible. I have been so nauseous and dizzy ever since taking this medication. I cannot wait to be finished. As far as the reason I am taking it (BV), the odor went away almost immediately from taking. It absolutely works for that."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed this medication for BV, 500 mg twice a day for 7 days. I did not look up the symptoms beforehand because of my GAD. I'm glad I did not because I wouldn't have taken the antibiotics. They have helped me tremendously. However, I did experience diarrhea, dizziness, weird vision, crazy dreams, restless nights, rib joint pain, and acid reflux. All of the side effects were manageable and went away after a few days. If you have anxiety and you are reading this now... remember everyone is different. You may not have any side effects at all. Talk to the doctor you trust the most with your concerns. Alright... now go clear up that infection!"

For Bacterial Infection "I normally don’t have side effects to medications, but when I was placed on Flagyl (500 mg x 2 per day) to treat a diverticulitis flare, I couldn’t go beyond three days. I felt like I had a lobotomy and had muscle cramps, diarrhea, nausea, white tongue, and dizzy. I felt worse than I did when I went to the ER in the first place. I was really surprised by how hard it hit, despite taking Florastor probiotics and drinking Kefir with each dose. I asked to be placed on a different antibiotic and was given Augmentin instead. I felt much better within a day and a half."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Absolutely awful reaction to this drug, Flagyl. I have never been so sick on any medication. Was prescribed for a puncture wound to avoid infection but honestly cannot say if it worked or not, although the infection was prevented. However, I was completely dysfunctional with side effects from the Flagyl, including shocking headache, sore throat, hallucinations, dizziness, sore back, upset stomach, sinus reaction, and extreme fatigue."

For Bacterial Infection "I'm using it for a five-day period for a bacterial infection, twice a day. I think it's working. It's my fourth day, and it was the only day I felt slight irritation. I'm not sure if that means it has stopped working or what, but I hope that after my last day, I finally get full ease. My only side effects are headache, dizziness, and nausea, which aren't so bad. As for the taste, I don't keep it on my tongue long enough to get a good taste, so I can't testify for that."

For Intraabdominal Infection "Flagyl was prescribed to me after an appendectomy with a leaking appendix. I took 3 doses at home, and the side effects started immediately and became more severe with every subsequent dose. I was dizzy to the point of having to hold on to the wall to walk. I had the worst metallic bad taste in my mouth that actually made everything taste horrible (water, juices, food, etc.). I was extremely nauseous to the point that I started heaving even with liquids. I had severe diarrhea as well, which I am not sure was related to Flagyl or not, but subsided once I was off that medicine. I was changed to Cypro and have been feeling much, much better with that antibiotic. In my case, I will NEVER take Flagyl again, based on the severe reaction I've experienced."

For Bacterial Infection "I’m taking Flagyl for 7 days due to BV, and boy, I tell ya, this sucker is war. I started feeling the effects mainly on the 3rd or 4th day. Horrible nausea/morning sickness, heartburn, dizziness, and headache. I constantly feel on the urge of vomiting, but it won’t come. I’m so tired and also feel super bloated. I hope when I’m done, these side effects subside. It’s helped the bacterial vaginosis, but lord have mercy, I’m seeing stars. So happy my last day is tomorrow! Plus, the taste is absolutely horrid. It’s 2021, I’m sure they can mask the pill somehow."

For Bacterial Infection "I take this medicine with amoxicillin because I had a severe tooth infection and the pain was horrible. After 3 to 4 days, slowly I felt better. I feel dizzy, have a stomachache, and am sleepy sometimes, but it is okay. I will continue this meds until 10 days. I hope and pray everything will be okay after that."

For Dental Abscess "Absolutely avoid! I'm a 29-year-old male, rarely if ever take medication, but unfortunately developed periodontitis due to a wisdom tooth. My dentist prescribed me Flagyl and warned me about possible stomach side effects. I took three pills, 400 mg, and woke up the next day a different person. I felt as if I had been poisoned, my head felt like a bowling ball, and I felt like I was going to fall over when I stood up. I slept all day and didn't eat a thing. I noticed later that day I could hardly breathe and that my nose was blocked. I had an awful headache, and my eyes kept squinting and were sensitive to light, urine was a dark color, and my appetite was diminished to zero. It took a solid four days before I ate anything and was bedridden 90% of that time. I am still feeling the effects from it (weakness, dizziness, weird vision issues). Peer-reviewed journal articles highlight many other young people, ages ranging from 22-25, with adverse side effects who NEVER recovered."

For Bacterial Infection "Horrible taste, the side effects are horrible! I've never had side effects from antibiotics, but this one was so bad! The good news is this antibiotic does the job! My vagina feels brand new! The side effects are manageable, just scary at times! Dizzy, sensitive to light, and tingling in my right hand. The first night I took this, my jaw went numb. I take 500 mg, 3 times a day, for ten days. I'm on day 6, thank God! Hopefully, I make it to 10. Do not stop taking this medicine unless the doctor tells you to!"

For Diverticulitis "Prescribed this for diverticulitis. Dizziness, brain fog, confusion, increased anxiety (which might be because I thought I was dying at one point), and dark urine. I have taken this med before without these side effects, which is why I didn't tie the side effects to the medication. I was actually looking to see how other people combat the taste when I stumbled across this. I mean, for the diverticulitis pain, it works... you just have to figure out a way to deal with the side effects."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed Flagyl 500 mg 2/day for 7 days to treat an infection. The infection cleared in 3 days, however, the potency of this drug is extreme. I felt completely drained, no energy, and extremely nauseated to the point of not knowing if I was going to be sick or not. Cold sweats, chills, and dizziness, as well as feeling irritable. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL. I am no stranger to a few beers a day, a glass of red wine, etc. I didn’t think that a beer would make me so sick. This drug prevents the body from breaking down alcohol properly, and you WILL pay for it. It is a fast-hitting sickness you will never forget. Take the meds, it will pay off in the end to cure your infection 100%. The side effects are real, and they are rough… Strongest advice is to steer clear of even a drop of alcohol as this makes these effects worse."

For Bacterial Infection "So I have panic disorder and anxiety like many other people here. I delayed taking it because of side effects, like many people here. However, my approach was to take one pill on the first day to see how I responded, then two on the second. I am NOT a doctor, so don’t do this if you don’t want to. But for me, it helped the anxiety and also helped to discover how I would tolerate it. I take it as prescribed now and have had mild stomach upset, but nothing serious or debilitating. I notice dizziness occasionally, but that’s likely because you have to drink quite a bit of water with Flagyl, and I am not great at drinking water. I drink coffee and have no issues with anxiety or increased heart rate. I went for a 6-mile walk, no issues at all. I’ve also not had any headaches associated with it either. So, for those who are afraid to take it, take it as prescribed and trust that your doctor prescribed it because the benefits outweigh the costs."

For Clostridioides difficile Infection "I have ulcerative colitis, and I tested positive for C. diff and was put on Flagyl - 500 mg 4x/day. The first 5 days I could function, although I had no appetite and was dizzy and nauseated. The last 6 days I was bedridden with nausea and vomiting, an aversion to food, dizziness, and the skin on my legs went numb. It's been a week now, and the skin on my legs is still numb, although it doesn't affect my mobility. I don't want to eat anything still, but the food doesn't come back up now. However, all the symptoms of C. diff are gone. It seems to have calmed down the UC as well. So yes, it worked very well so far, but the side effects for me were horrendous."
