"Vyvanse has been a wonder drug for me. At the urging of my wife, I got tested for ADHD. I have been on Lexapro for years, but the emotional dysregulation, constant agitation, and mental hyperactivity hit a breaking point. I ran through some tests and visits with a psych. Methylphenidate worked slightly at first, but eventually minimal benefit. After trying Adderall IR, we settled on Vyvanse. It’s the best there is for me. My GAD is immensely calmed, I can focus on daily tasks and go about regular life without thinking each step through 7500 times and not ever actually taking action. Emotions highly regulated and can mentally tame my anxiety as I can now recognize it. I eat well, run and/or lift weights every day and am a healthy 34-year-old. Working out and food are not the sole answer for everyone. Vyvanse changed my life drastically. It sounds like a lot of people with negative reviews may have never really had ADHD or Vyvanse was the wrong medication for them."

"I'm 47 years old never did well in school but managed. My wife has been saying I am ADD and spoke to my doctor about it. After a few months of office visits, I go monthly. He said he's been watching my responses and wrote me Vyvanse 30mg. All I can say is WOW! Finally, everything makes sense. I get things done, no late afternoon crash, it's fantastic! I have social anxiety very bad, and this miracle drug took it all away! I'm on my second month and a higher dose just to 40mg, and it's perfect! I actually hugged my doctor on the following visit and thanked him for finally turning my light switch on! I can't say enough about this miracle drug Vyvanse! Now I can look forward to a new day instead of dreading having to get out of bed!"

"My 11-year-old son was diagnosed with ADHD 2 months ago. He was failing school (all F's but tested at a high school level). After starting Vyvanse, he now has all A's and two B's. It has helped him to concentrate and work to his ability. This new drug has given him his life back. Side effects were mild, and the life effects were out of this world!"

"Oh, if there was an 11, I would give Vyvanse this rating, if it was not for one side effect. But I am not 100% sure it is the Vyvanse. I have been having pretty bad chest pains since I started on Vyvanse a couple of months ago. I even went to the ER for an asthma attack. The trouble is, for the last few years (pre-ADHD diagnosis and any meds) I have been slowly growing into adult-onset asthma. So it's tough even for the doctors to tell if it's from the asthma or the Vyvanse! The ER doc said no, Vyvanse shouldn't cause chest pains, so did my psychiatrist (who I trust and really respect). Long story short--I LOVE VYVANSE!! Has given me my life a whole new meaning. I am the best version of myself. My whole entire extended family notices!"

"When I started my treatment with Vyvanse for ADD, it was a blessing: for the first time I felt motivated to do great at school and have better grades because I had never felt so focused and clear-minded in my life, after years of unsuccessful treatments with Ritalin, Concerta, and Adderall. But that's what happens to everyone when they're first introduced to Vyvanse, it fixes your entire life and then suddenly and surprisingly it ruins it in new ways. It's been a little more than a year since I started taking it, and it didn't take much longer for the bad effects of it to hit me: every time I consume this drug, I get depressed, I feel empty and anxious, my head hurts, and I lose all my motivation because the sadness it brings is stronger than any other positive effect it is intended to give its users. I have never been this depressed in my life, and I blame this drug for that, I mostly (if not only) feel this way when I'm on it."

"Vyvanse has been a lifesaver! I have ADD and suffer from depression and anxiety. I suppose the best thing about Vyvanse is that it greatly helps my depression and anxiety. I have energy to get things done and stay focused. I don’t have all that constantly thinking and worrying going on in my head all the time."

"I suffered sexual abuse as a kid which led to my PTSD. On top of that, God gifted me with ADHD for entertainment purposes. I have been on Ritalin and Adderall for many years. Two years or so ago, I quit medications altogether because that's what ADHD people do for more entertainment. My job required that I go back on medication, and my MD recommended Vyvanse. I have been on it for 6 months and really like how it helps me concentrate, make me feel good without feeling high. I find that taking medication vacations really helps. I generally don't take it on my weekends. I am hoping that this will help fend off any addiction to the medication. I read a lot about people who say their meds don't work after a while. I know there were times when I felt that way, but I am not a good judge of myself. My wife and my bosses at work all told me I was doing well when I felt as if I were not. Try the weekend vacations and let others be the judge. I truly hope this medication is the miracle I need."

"I'm 51 years old and was skeptical regarding ADD or ADHD. A counselor urged me to get tested. I agreed to do it because all I wanted was help. I no longer cared what the answer was for whatever was wrong. I only cared if it worked. So, I did the test and was told I was 'off the charts' the highest scores they had seen in years of testing. Today I take 120-150 mg of Vyvanse daily and it makes a difference. Nonetheless, even though Vyvanse has been very helpful, I still doubted whether ADHD was 'real.' I couldn't understand why the medicine was so highly regulated. How could anyone get addicted to this stuff I thought? Then I realized people like me don't get high from drugs like this and that's one reason I know it's working and ADHD is real."

"I started this medication when I was 45 years old and started back to college. I never excelled in college in my younger years and actually made the Dean's List after taking Vyvanse. I am now almost sixty. I really don't need it other than helping my golf game once in a while. I just wanted to say that it is a great medication for keeping one’s focus, however, I did experience quite a bit of hair loss. I only take 20 mg. I do take breaks on this medication and have noticed that my hair grows much thicker when I am off of it. Just an FYI."

"I was diagnosed with ADHD and PTSD (resulting in extreme panic attacks) about 7 years ago. I went down the line, starting with antidepressants, then Adderall, and finally, Vyvanse. I had a hard time with Adderall as I felt the jolt after taking it daily, even with XR, and I broke out with these horrible cyst-like pimples. My psychologist had heard of Vyvanse and recommended changing. I started with a low dose of 20mg and finally ended up with 60mg XR daily. It has been a life-changer for me. I take one pill first thing in the morning and that's all she wrote ☺. I haven't had a panic attack since I started them. My Dr. encourages me to go on 'drug holidays' monthly, which keeps me from going up in dosage. I will say, if you go without them longer than about 5 days, there are the side effects of dry mouth and tension headaches which reside by day 3. Good luck, and I do recommend for ADHD!!"

"My daughter is 8 and has tried other medicines for ADHD. I did not like them because of the side effects, she was like a zombie. With Vyvanse, I don't notice a major change in her personality. And she is focusing better in school. Much better grades. I love this medicine because she still acts like my daughter and not some alien."

"I wouldn't typically give any drug such a high rating, but Vyvanse has truly changed my life with few, if any, side effects. I take 20 mg once a day, and it lasts 12 to 14 hours. It took about 2 weeks of trial and error to find the dosage, but it was very worthwhile. I am happier, less anxious, and significantly more organized than I have ever been. I am a student, and many areas of my life -- academics, social functioning, general health, etc. -- have all improved greatly. The inattentive fog has cleared, and I finally feel able to create the life I want to be living. Better control over my life has also given me back self-esteem and stabilized my moods. I am so grateful."

"I just started on 50 mg, only took it 4 times in a week and a half. It starts working in 40 minutes. Recommend having breakfast with it because you lose your metabolism throughout the day. I felt amazing, didn't feel like annoying anyone. I behaved and concentrated, but my side effects were that I got up from bed, got lightheaded, and nearly fainted. My heart was beating so fast at random times, and my breathing increased. Two nights ago, I thought it was the end of my life as my heart was beating so fast I could see it beating, and I was a bit out of breath."

"I grew up in the 60s when medication was not recommended by doctors. There was no ADHD as a condition and I was misdiagnosed as a daydreamer who forgot things every day. I felt totally alone with a problem that had no name or medication. It wasn't until after military service that I was diagnosed with ADHD but was given a non-stimulant medication and it was a total waste. It wasn't until I got some Adderall and it was eye-opening. I was given Vyvanse by my VA doctor and it's been like night and day. I can focus more and don't miss appointments or lose things. It's been a lifesaver for me."

"I have been taking Adderall as well as Vyvanse on and off since I was in middle school, I'm 23 now. It seems to me that when I first started taking it, it made me feel like a zombie, but I would focus and work. Then I stopped, and now I have been taking Vyvanse, as you can tell, for a decent amount of time now. I started with 10 mg, then 20 mg, etc. Now I'm at 60 mg, and it seems to finally work. I am focusing and just doing everything right now, lol."

"My 8-year-old daughter has been on Vyvanse for almost 2 years. She started on 20 mg a day. She seemed to be doing better as far as focusing, but very emotional. Her doctor decided to up her dose to 30 mg and now 40 mg. The 40 mg also seemed to help at school, her grades went up, and she was able to pay attention. I'm now noticing that my little girl is not the same person. She has become rude, depressed, emotional, getting in trouble, suicidal, and just out of control. Parents really should keep a journal of changing side effects they notice. Needless to say, my daughter is no longer taking this medication and has not yet found one to replace it."

"Vyvanse is not like any other ADHD med out there. It is better! A lot better! It does not matter how much Vyvanse you take, your body will not let the amphetamine level go any higher than it can process it. This gives you control. Vyvanse is a spark, it lets you choose what to focus on, rather than make you hyper and euphoric like other ADHD meds do. Why it does not work for some people? Because most people fail to use ADHD meds accordingly! No med is a 'magic bullet.' For those of us who actually have ADHD and have tried absolutely everything (healthy diet, good night's sleep, exercise, multivitamins, etc.), Vyvanse is the 'missing piece to the puzzle!'"

"I am a 30-year-old woman, recently diagnosed with ADD. I always knew there was an issue there because I have always been extremely irritable/short-fused, indecisive, impatient, impulsive, forgetful, anxious, etc. I somehow busted my butt through school and even managed to get my Bachelor's degree but this came with re-reading lines of texts, taking several breaks while studying, and telling myself to focus constantly. I usually stare at someone talking but don't know what was said because I was thinking of something else completely. I couldn't remember movies or conversations to save my life. Docs said it was anxiety and increased the dose constantly. At 30mg and 4 days on Vyvanse, I feel great. Only headaches here and there but I'm hopeful!"

"Dr. diagnosed me with ADD, he put me on Vyvanse. It did help me focus but caused near anorexia. It actually helped with depression symptoms that antidepressants were never able to help me with. I never really wanted to eat while I was on the medication. Just no appetite. All of my life was normal/thin. No prior eating disorders. Never was a binge eater. I went from 120 lbs to 100 lbs on the medication. The worst is stopping the medication. Be warned. I developed a never-before binge eating disorder from discontinuing Vyvanse. Gained back all the weight I lost PLUS I have gained an additional 30 pounds on top of my normal weight. I put on about 50 pounds since stopping Vyvanse. I cannot get the weight off. I often think about starting up the pills again to help me rid the after Vyvanse weight gain, but what will happen to me after I stop again? Wish I never started it to begin with."

"I have been a mental health counselor for 37 years and have worked with ADHD for 25. Of all the medications, Vyvanse is the best. It is important to start low, 20 mg, and then increase based on focus, concentration, and mid-afternoon agitation. Expect very few side effects. Slight appetite loss but manageable. Very important to take it at 7 am every day. May want to hold off on weekends unless there is a need to focus for study. Consider counseling to help stay on track and educate clients and families regarding the fact that ADHD is a gift of creativity and out-of-the-box thinking."

"I failed 2 classes in high school, couldn't pass the driver test, struck out with girls because I was too hyper. Good at sports but didn't play well at the best level. I was on Wellbutrin SR. Passed classes with C's and 1 B, occasionally got a date to prom. Got sports scholarships through T&F, Bball, got a driver's license. Things were missing, got 16 on the ACT, still a little too hyper and struck out with college girls, passed 1st semester with 3 C's, 1 A, couldn't remember street names. Doctor put me on Vyvanse 50 mg, had a 3.0 GPA, got three dates, remembered street signs. Thank you, GOD, it is a blessing out of this world."

"I am a male and 42 years old. I am an ASM in retail and a husband and father of four kids. The doctor prescribed 30 mg the first two months and upped the meds to 40 mg. I have only been on them for 5 months. I have seen and felt a huge change in my lifestyle. I am more focused at home and especially at work. I am Mr. Mom and won't stop cleaning at home. I even cut and edge my neighbor's front yard. I lost 10 lbs and now weigh 197. I do feel myself get upset faster though. Because I feel that, I also stop and calm myself down. So far I have no complaints... yet."

"I have taken Adderall XR and Vyvanse. They both have a similar but not completely similar feeling when it comes to getting work done. But mainly my experience with Vyvanse is quite good but not great. I take whenever I get up to go to school (6-6:30), and it takes an hour to kick in. I have been taking Vyvanse for the last 4 years. It helps you focus a lot more than usual and it gives you the motivation to get work done. But the downside about it is that you feel depressed for a minute or anxiety, but after a couple of minutes you feel back motivated and happy. Also, I love that it gives you the mind clarity that I personally think everyone needs. Overall, my experience with Vyvanse is awesome. By the way, I'm 15."

"I was on Adderall for years until the highest dosage stopped working for me. When I switched to Vyvanse, I wasn't sure what effects I should be looking for. Was it supposed to be like Adderall? No. Unlike Adderall, which gives you tunnel vision to complete one task at a time, Vyvanse allows you to focus on multiple tasks. You're not wired and cleaning out your closet 10 times a day, it's more like you're normalized - the way that you should be. As far as appetite goes, it comes and it goes."

"42-year-old male recently diagnosed with ADD (no hyperactivity). Vyvanse is the only medication I've tried and I'm reasonably happy with it. Started 30 mg for 2 weeks. Felt a little jittery and had a funny taste in my mouth. Increased to 70 mg. No longer feel jittery, no funny taste, but my mouth is always dry so I drink a lot of water. Vyvanse seems to help me get more done. I can't say I'm more focused, but I am more motivated, so the end result is more productivity, though not always directed in the best place. It decreased my appetite, so it was easier to switch to a healthier diet. Lost more than 25 lbs. in the first 3 months, which has also helped increase self-esteem, motivation, and energy level."
