"I have been taking 125 mcg levothyroxine for 30 years, and everything has been well. Walmart changed my prescription to Euthyrox, and I have had chest pains, racing heart, followed by a slow heartbeat, headaches, and a general malaise. Do not take this medicine! Something is not right with it."

"Thank you all for taking your time to leave all these comments! I am super thankful, and I appreciate each and every one of y'all! God bless your souls. I just picked up the prescription for the first time at the pharmacy, and I looked it up, and I just thank the Lord for sending me to this site to review the comments. I will not be taking this! I will not take one of these pills!"

"I have been on levothyroxine for 18 years. Walmart switched me to Euthyrox, saying it was another generic for Synthroid. I started experiencing nausea, dizziness, and feeling hot within an hour of taking it. I went to my doctor after 2 months of feeling this way, and all was 'ok.' Then my child was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and Walmart filled his RX as Euthyrox. After a week, he started to refuse the medicine because it made him 'nauseous.' After he complained of that, it clicked that it was the medicine. We both switched back to levothyroxine, and all of our symptoms stopped."

"Every time I try to start taking Euthyrox again because Walmart Pharmacy keeps changing brands on me, my heart starts hurting bad. Changed back to levothyroxine makers Alvogen, and in days, my heart stopped hurting!"

"The same thing happened to me as everyone else is describing. I have taken Levo for over 15 years now, and my levels have been fine. Walmart switched this on me and told me, 'It is the same thing, just different packaging.' I thought something was off, but I went with it. I took them for two weeks, then I had my first blackout. I had a hot flash, hard time breathing, and ran into the door until collapsing to the floor. I tried to dismiss it, but then not even a week later, I was with some friends, and I felt totally fine when all of a sudden, I had the heat flash again. I tried to walk to the door and fell straight down to the floor. I tried to stand and fell again. Do not take this drug, it will cause you serious issues. I have also been feeling very tired and gaining weight since taking it. It doesn't do anything to benefit your body."

"Please do not take this medication. My pharmacy switched me from Levothyroxine to Euthyrox, and since then I've been having anxiety, fatigue, loose bowels, extreme sweating, muscle aches, and pains. Called the pharmacy today, had them switch me back to Levothyroxine. Hopefully, this will help."

"When my doctor upped my dosage from 50 mcg to 75, Walmart gave me this box instead of the bottle of a 3-month supply at once. Euthyrox. I've never been completely happy with the hypothyroid meds, as I've never gotten rid of my symptoms of hypothyroidism. My dosage is too low, and my doctor won't listen to me. My last test showed my blood level at a 2.8. The 'normal' range being 2.4 - 4.2. Being that low is NOT okay for me as a woman still of childbearing age, and my hair loss has not let up at all, like it should if I was on the right dosage for my body. But since June 24, 2021, when I was switched to this Euthyrox, I'm even more miserable. I didn't realize the side effects were so bad from what I'd been on previously. I started doing research in March, and everything I've found has not been good for Euthyrox. My symptoms/side effects have been shortness of breath, muscle spasm, headache, nervousness, irritability, insomnia, tremors, muscle weakness associated with Euthyrox. No more of this rubbish."

"Absolutely horrible drug! I don't know why Walmart is substituting with this drug. I felt cold all the time. Got swollen joints and blistered fingers. I have gone back to levothyroxine and don't trust pharmacy substitutions anymore, that's for sure!"

"I have taken levothyroxine for years. Then Walmart switched to Euthyrox. After taking it for 2 months, my TSH levels went crazy, it was like I wasn't even taking any drug at all. Completely ineffective. Switched back to levothyroxine, and TSH levels are back where they should be. Walmart says others have had the same effects. Stay away from Euthyrox."

"The Euthyrox is horrible for me. Took it for a month, maybe more. Had headaches, terrible fatigue, muscle cramps, foggy brain. Probably more symptoms, just didn't make the connection. After researching, I read all the side effects. Went to Walmart and told them I did not want this Euthyrox anymore. It is confusing when I compared the generic of Synthroid and Euthyrox, it both said Levothyroxine. I told the pharmacist I no longer wanted the Euthyrox, but if they label it all as Levothyroxine... my rx history only shows Levothyroxine. So very leery. Will be asking for Synthroid generic to be more specific. See if that changes anything. Until then, I am miserable right now. I suggest DO NOT TAKE EUTHYROX."

"I was concerned at first, as Walmart had changed my normal med without my knowledge. But I tried it anyway, as it was the inexpensive alternative. I didn't have any odd effects, and blood tests after a month showed normal range. So I'm okay with it."

"My story is just like the others on this site. I went to Walmart, they substituted my regular thyroid pills for this Euthyrox. My numbers went up, and I am gaining weight. I am 5'3" and supposed to be 110 lbs. I just don't feel normal, but not too awful. I changed to Osco Pharmacy for my regular pills, and they never say they are out of stock and want to substitute. I too am learning about Walmart and Euthyrox. I am told Euthyrox is brand, not generic."

"Awful. Walmart switched me to this from my normal levothyroxine. I have felt horrible for the last 2 weeks. Extreme fatigue, achy joints, anxiety, etc. I realized this is the only thing that has changed, so I called them to refill my normal levo. Beyond frustrated that they switched me. Hopefully, I start feeling better soon. I'm not sure how they can even do this."

"I was prescribed Euthyrox and had taken it for 3 months. Unfortunately, my pharmacy did not have it in stock and gave me Levothyrox instead. After several days, I started having a menstrual cycle, which wouldn't be a huge issue, however, I've been through menopause and haven't had a cycle in 13 years. I was also experiencing severe pain in both my hips and my neck, and severe fatigue. I contacted my doctor and pharmacist and am happy to report I'm back on the Euthyrox, and I'm feeling much better."

"My heart is broken for everyone after reading all this. I have the same story of Walmart switching me without asking and telling me it’s exactly the same. I’ve had increased heart palpitations and chest pains, weekly headaches, stiffness, and thought I was just getting older! My thyroid is larger and less efficient. Even though my numbers jumped so much lower than normal, my doctor didn’t change anything, and I am feeling tired every afternoon. I am changing doctors, and I went to Publix this week because they had my old generic variation, as the Walmart here in Brunswick, Georgia, still does not carry the one I got from them for 10+ years, saying it’s a month+ wait for it. I tossed the stupid yellow packets and started the old pill 2 days ago! I pray this solves some problems and this new med didn't cause permanent damage to any of us!"

"I took 50 mcg Euthyrox for 6 weeks and seemed to be okay. My provider wanted me to continue, but I thought the dose was too high. I cut the dose by half, and then I started having heart arrhythmia, which progressed to waking me up at night. I stopped taking the pills for 1 week and then took one dose (25 mcg), and within 3 hours, the symptoms came back."

"I actually requested my U.S. endocrinologist to specifically prescribe this brand Euthyrox. I feel so much better using this brand than Synthroid. I will happily put out an update if anything changes, but I’m hoping this will continue! Perhaps folks should give this a chance — they may be pleasantly surprised!"
