"My Walmart pharmacy switched me to this from another generic levothyroxine that I had been on for years with no issues. I had itching by the second day after starting to use it. On the 4th day, within 90 minutes of taking the dose, I had itching on my head and upper back, which progressed to my legs and feet, and noticeable hives appeared shortly thereafter. Benadryl resolved the symptoms. I contacted the pharmacy, and they filled a new Rx with the generic I was taking previously. Euthyrox will be added to my allergy list!"

"I also had a terrible experience with this drug, my hair has been falling out so badly and also feeling lethargic and not sleeping. I went to Walmart, and they changed me back to Levothyroxine and were great about it. I was on the Euthyrox for months before I figured out what was happening."

"My experience is very similar to most complaints about Euthyrox. I was on a different generic (I am not sure of the manufacturer, but the usual color-coded variety). Same deal, Walmart just arbitrarily changed the script. I DID protest when I received it but was assured it was the 'same.' I was on this drug for approx. 2 weeks, and I started feeling horrible. Depression, anxiety, tremors, and dangerous high blood pressure. I ended up in the ER with sustained BP of 220/110. This lasted for several hours. I went cold turkey (I am on 50mcg), and it took about 4 days to feel somewhat normal. I told ER docs to check my TSH, it was down to .2 from about 1.8. It should be pulled from the market. Incredibly dangerous drug."

"I have been on Levothyroxine for 4 years. I recently had my prescriptions moved to, guess where.... Walmart.... and they switched me to Euthyrox. I have been feeling awful. Horrible mood swings, insomnia, sweating out of nowhere, waking up due to the fact that my heart is beating 85 bpm while sleeping and horrible heart palpitations that go on for hours. The heart palpitations have been so bad that I almost went to the emergency room. I did see my doctor yesterday, and I did ask them to do blood work and am waiting for my results this morning. My doctor wants to put me on a heart monitor for a week and do a stress test for my heart. After reading these reviews, I am certain it is this drug. I am seriously considering seeking legal counsel. The pharmacists at Walmart are just that, pharmacists. Who has given them the right to change anyone's medication without a doctor's consent?"

"I thank you all for warning of this drug, as Walmart has tried to do it to me, and I went to checking and found these reviews. I went straight back and talked to the doctor, and sure enough, it's a Walmart thing. Called another pharmacy and changed over to them. Don't take something you haven't taken, always check it out. Walmart is trying to save a dollar."

"Was a terrible experience dispensed by Walmart. This form of a generic of a generic is the worst. My hair was falling to the point that I was afraid to even brush my hair. Then there were the terrible skin issues that itched something terrible. It was on my face and lower front of my legs. Tried everything to try and clear it up, but nothing worked."

"Walmart switched me to Euthyrox for my last refill. When I asked the clerk why, she said that is the only one they are carrying now, so I can't get the levothyroxine anymore. After reading the reviews, I will not be taking the Euthyrox and will go somewhere else for my prescription."

"Oh my gosh. I am so pissed after reading all this. I have been on a physical roller coaster for almost a year now. Last May, unbeknownst to me, Walmart switched me to Euthyrox from my regular levothyroxine medication, Synthroid. When questioned, I was told it was the same. Fast forward a short time, I can't get out of bed. I can't even think or carry on a conversation, literally. I have a condition that causes me fatigue, so I just figured I was having a relapse. My thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) level had jumped to 13+. I didn't have the other normal symptoms like my skin/hair being dry and constipation, so I didn't pick up on it, it might be my thyroid or the medicine. Just in a fog, with extreme fatigue, pain, and irregular heartbeat. My doctor increased my meds. I talked to the pharmacist. I was told again that it was the same thing, but 'some' people have problems taking it. I asked if they could note it on the computer. I would have to call every month. Fast forward to almost a year later and I'm still trying to get things regulated."

"I have taken now for about one year. I can barely walk due to severe edema in bilateral knees causing terrible pain. I have even had injections without resolution. My legs have become extremely weak, and I chalked these changes up to growing older. I am calling my Dr. and pharmacy today. Also, I'm having numbness and tingling in bilateral hands/lower arms."

"Euthyrox was given to me by my Walmart pharmacy instead of my regularly prescribed generic levothyroxine about 1.5 years ago. When I questioned the difference in the med, the pharmacy clerk said it was a new levothyroxine and that it was identical to my previous prescription (the pharmacist never explained anything to me). Since then, my thyroid levels have been way off, my PCP kept changing the dosage, thinking it would help level things off. After doing online research and discussing with my physician at length, we figured out that the changes to my levels were due to this medication. She immediately switched me back to levothyroxine, but I also had to switch pharmacies as Walmart Pharmacy only dispenses Euthyrox for levothyroxine. Seems like a deal was made with the pharma company! This makes no sense, and it’s very dangerous for Walmart to be making a decision for patients that could eventually be detrimental to their health. Bad business, Walmart! I am no longer a customer."

"I started using Euthyrox I for the last three months now for my underactive thyroid. At first, I was afraid of taking it because of having side effects, but I didn't have any. I sleep better and feel better on the whole. My tiredness, shortness of breath, fast heart rate, and everything else I was feeling before I started taking this medication was gone. I am not at my full best because with my thyroid problem, I also have cancer in my throat. But I feel great. I plan to continue with it. I use just 50mg a day. I am scared to be without it. The reason for that is when it finished, I was a mess. I was tired, hyper-nervous, I had a high heart rate, shortness of breath, and couldn't sleep. I didn't feel like getting out of bed. But when I started it again, I felt great. No complaints on this medication at all."

"Been on levo for 35 yrs. Started Euthyrox in May 2020 when Walmart changed meds. Pharmacist said it was the same thing, just a different manufacturer. Was fine for a while, then started feeling bad. Saw Dr in Dec 2020 for hives on my shoulders and forearms. Levels were slightly elevated but not enough for concern. Between Dec 2020 and Mar 2021, it all went south. Started having strange symptoms - sensitive skin from scalp to foot, itching, insomnia, palpitations, and weird headaches that seemed to come from nowhere, and then the rash started. Nothing put on topically helped. Changed detergent, lotion, and shower gel, and it got worse. Suspected the Euthyrox. On Mar 30, found these reviews that explained it all. Saw Dr the next day, said I was the 2nd person that day with the same problem. After doing research on my levels, in Mar 2020 my level was 3.5; in Mar 2021, the level was 23."

"I've been diagnosed with minor hypothyroidism in Oct 2021 and soon after, prescribed Euthyrox. Started on 25 mcg and experienced side effects since day one. Despite taking it as early as I could every morning, the side effects occurred anyway. I became unable to sleep at night and extremely irritable during the day. At that time, I was taking more meds, so I checked the potential side effects of each one. I also started college. Thinking it was the pre-college angst that kept me awake every night, I decided to drop out. I dropped out, but my insomnia didn't go away. A few days later, I had an appointment with a different doctor. Noticing my unusual rudeness (I wasn't rude before Euthyrox), he decided not to schedule any further appointments for me. It was not until mid-November that I decided to quit Euthyrox. And I'm happy I did because I could finally sleep at night again. It turned out Euthyrox was the culprit for all my anger and my sleepless nights. I'm never taking Euthyrox ever again!"

"Was at Walmart today. They tried to give me Euthyrox. I said I wanted the same medication I had been taking for a few years. They said this is the same. I said it has different side effects, no, thank you. They gave me my levothyroxine. They charged me three times more than last month. Said they don’t care about the discount price. Time to find a different pharmacy."

"Back in February, Wal-Mart switched my levothyroxine to Euthyrox. I really thought nothing much about it. After a few weeks, I was in the ER with tachycardia, high BP, bloating, and nausea. It occurred to me it could be the med change, but my levels were good, so I thought it was anxiety-related. I ended up a month later at the ER again for the same plus major digestive problems. I eventually talked to pharmacy about switching me back, they did, and I started to get better after a couple of months. Then, a week ago, I got the Euthyrox again and I thought it was probably just digestive problems and gave it another try. Well, all my problems are back: rapid heartbeat, headache, bloating, and nausea. I'm calling Walmart tomorrow as now I'm certain it's the Euthyrox. Walmart or the makers of this drug should have to pay all my medical bills from the last 6 months."

"Walmart switched me from levothyroxine to Euthyrox a year ago. I started feeling weak and had lightheadedness. Leg and back pain. I went through heart tests and physical therapy for back pain. A week ago, I went back to levothyroxine and now feel 80% better. Walmart should have a lawsuit to cover all our pain and suffering over their horrible generic Euthyrox medicine."

"I, like many who have reviewed Euthyrox, received it from Walmart. I have been on Levothyroxine for many years without issue. I started on the Euthyrox, and within one week, I started having insomnia. I went back to Walmart with the boxes in hand, and the pharmacist immediately came to the counter and said, “I bet you are having issues.” I wasn’t the first person she had helped with a similar problem, although she did say she had not heard about insomnia. She got me the previous Levothyroxine at no charge, and I’m a happy camper. This is not a drug you should be interchanging willy-nilly!"

"Was on generic levothyroxine for several years, then last year got switched to Euthyrox. Almost immediately started feeling awful. Nausea, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, brain fog. My doctor couldn't explain why I was having issues. Reading similar reviews makes me realize it's not just me. I will have to find a better alternative because I can't function like this."

"I was switched to Euthyrox by Walmart four months ago. My TSH levels were low, so he dropped my meds down a small amount. That's not unusual with my condition to have to change the meds a bit now and again. Within a few weeks, I had constant muscle aches and pains. I started feeling tired all the time. My husband kept complaining because I was, in his words, unusually cranky. My sleep habits changed. I did not associate this with my new medication until today. Today I got my TSH levels back from the lab: 10.59. The only change in anything is this medication. I'm seeing my doctor in two weeks, and I will never again accept this medication."

"My dad had his thyroid removed about 30 years ago due to having severe Graves' disease. He's taken a high dosage of levothyroxine (200 mcg 2x a day). We used to have his prescriptions filled elsewhere but switched to Wal-Mart. About 2 years ago, they switched his meds to Euthyrox. He had been able to function previously and walk. Once the Euthyrox was introduced, things changed drastically. He started having muscle issues in his back and neck, then his arms and legs. He gets severe headaches and dizziness. Has been hospitalized 3x since February 2022. We are now realizing when he was hospitalized, he indeed got better because he was getting actual levothyroxine and not Euthyrox. Now we have to go back to the doctor and have him send over either brand name or fill his prescriptions elsewhere. Wal-Mart seems to be the only factor in all of these stories."

"I was switched to Euthyrox by Walmart from Synthroid. If they tell you there is no difference, they are liars. My memory became unbearable. I couldn't remember details from a conversation I just had, I couldn't remember to-dos unless I wrote them down. I thought that I was losing my mind and was trying to figure out why I couldn't stay on task or remember literally anything. Then I remembered the only thing that had changed was my Rx. I stopped taking it and felt better almost right away. I am back to my old self within a week. I will never take Euthyrox again and will only tell friends how horrible it is!"

"I have been taking Levothyroxine for years. In January 2021, Walmart changed to Euthyrox. When I called in to inquire about it, the pharmacy said it is the same, just a different manufacturer. I have been having lightheadedness, a feeling of fainting, rapid and pounding heartbeats, nausea, bloating, and just a general feeling of being bad. I recently went to the hospital while on vacation as, while driving, I experienced a strong pounding of my heart and both arm weakness. All blood work came back fine. I had the exact same blood work done just 5 days prior at my PCP, and the results were fine. I happened to think back when this started and have come to the conclusion it was when Walmart changed to this drug. I immediately called and found a pharmacy that carried what I was taking prior to this change and got my old med back. I have only been taking it for about 10 days, but I am noticing I am starting to feel better. Praying it will continue! Needs to be taken off the market!"

"Walmart switched me from Levo to Euthyrox. I trusted that the medications were the same..... THEY ARE NOT!! I've been suffering for almost a year on this Euthyrox garbage. I've been sick, hair falling out, joint pains, migraines, diarrhea, fatigue, depression, heart palpitations, etc. TSH skyrocketed. I just got my new script and noticed it was Levo again..... after 5 days on it, I feel like a new person! Euthyrox is garbage! And I didn't connect the dots at all. I will NEVER take this AGAIN! "Euthyrox, this is an awful medicine. Firstly, I live in Europe, but in a country that is not in the EU, but in Southeast Balkans. Whatever, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in 2019 and was put on thyroid replacement drug, 25 mcg of levothyroxine, which in my country, N. Macedonia, you can only find under the brand Euthyrox by an American-German company, Merck. From the very first day, I had horrible side effects like skipping heartbeats, fainting, headaches, digestive problems, dizziness, sleepiness, blurry vision, brain fog, and general mood swings. I tried several times to stop this medicine, I felt great, but as the symptoms of Hashimoto's persisted, the doctors advised I keep taking. I got used to feeling like this, doctors raised my dosage with time from 25 mcg to 50 and then 75 mcg. Very often, when I take this pill in the morning, my libido, mood, and zest for life go from great to almost zero. I really hope I can find a source of supply of some other brand of levothyroxine to switch to."

"Walmart switched my meds without even asking. My levels before were always in range, TSH had never been above 4.56 in 15 years. I was on Euthyrox for only 6 weeks before I went for labs and found out my TSH level skyrocketed to 13! I was having anxiety attacks and just not feeling myself. It was as if I had stopped taking my medication! This company should be sued for all the pain and suffering!"
