For Birth Control "I just started using Liletta, and my first period was a little heavier than usual, but it’s definitely helped with stopping any pregnancy! I’m not noticing any mood changes yet. I’m breaking out a little, but that might just be my acne-prone skin. However, I do recommend Liletta if you are getting on birth control."

For Birth Control "I have always been a firm believer that birth control does not cause weight gain, but after losing my pregnancy weight and then getting Liletta at my 6-week check-up and gaining 65 pounds in 17 months while being active and eating a decent diet is insane. Mood swings were awful! Panic attacks and nightmares were terrible too. My husband and I would talk weekly about my hormone imbalance and how I was a different person. But I just blamed all of this on postpartum depression and the stress of a baby, but I’ve realized that 18 months later it has to be something else. I got the Kyleena IUD taken out and feel much better already. It’s only been a week."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta placed in on 3/8/18 after my procedure was done. I haven’t had any symptoms except mood swings and depression, but I don’t think it’s from the IUD. Haven’t gained weight. The only thing I don’t like about it is sometimes when you have sex, your partner can feel the IUD."

For Birth Control "Got it 12/19/17. Very negative experience. I had a very heavy flow and very painful cramps, so went for Liletta. Insertion was SO painful. I continued to have cramps all day and for the next few days. Still have random cramps and spot EVERY DAY. Got BV, and spotting isn't always light, it can be very heavy. Used to have high libido: 3 weeks in, I LOST my sex drive. I RARELY get slithers of sexual desire, but they subside very quickly. Am in a new relationship, and I'm SO attracted to him, but still NO sex drive, and I used to orgasm very easily. It's harder now, and for the 1st time: vaginal dryness, extreme mood swings, and depression. Broke down 3 weeks in. Everything overwhelming, most emotional I have ever been. I have a mass increase in anxiety. Beware if you are prone to mental health issues. Constant headaches, and the 1st time I got my period on the IUD could NOT move = cramp pain. Gained 10 lb the 1st month, caused stretch marks for 1st time. Tomorrow I am finally getting it out. Will update y'all. Pros: Not pregnant."

For Birth Control "Do NOT get an IUD. Got inserted on 10/9/17. Even after taking 4 ibuprofen to prepare for the pain, it was excruciating for 4 days. I ended up going to the ER. Mind you, I’m 8 months post-baby, so it shouldn't have hurt that much. Side effects: cramping/pain, mood swings, back pain, vaginal infection...which I just found out after a month of having this thing in, I have BV. I literally just pulled it out on my own since my doctor refused to remove it and kept convincing me to keep it in just because my side effects are slightly better. DO NOT GET AN IUD. Remember, doctors profit off of prescriptions. I refuse to suffer for longer than a month. The infection was the last straw, which I KNOW the IUD caused because I was tested during insertion and was negative."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta put in immediately after having Mirena removed (literally within a few minutes). I had thought I was getting Mirena replaced with Mirena, but they didn't tell me until it was already out that they didn't carry Mirena at Planned Parenthood where I live. This was January of 2021. It is now February of 2022, and I have gained more than 40 pounds despite working on my eating and workout habits. On Mirena, I never had a period (for 6 years!), and now I spot monthly. It's been progressively getting worse. I never dealt with cramps on Mirena, but now I feel that awful pain. I began really noticing changes 4-6 months in regarding my moods. I thought it was just stress and tried to put it off, but I'm now having crazy mood swings. I'll be angry and emotional out of nowhere. I feel bad for the people in my life because this is not me, and I am not like this. It never occurred to me that it could be from my birth control, but now I know better."

For Birth Control "I had it put in about a year ago. It initially hurt, but I was able to resume normal activity. I even went hiking that day. I was led to believe that I would have no periods or light periods. I was not using it for birth control, but to prevent more endometriosis flare-ups. Three months in, I became concerned about the nonstop heavy bleeding and clots. I was told to wait it out. Six months in, I continued to have the bleeding, along with some severe mood swings and deep depressive episodes that I've never had before. I felt bloated all the time. When I went to the doctor at month eleven, the suggestion was to wait it out more, and if I wanted, we could add more hormones to try to fix it. I had the IUD pulled out. I feel relieved. Hoping this review helps others."

For Birth Control "It's now been about 6 weeks since I got Liletta. I had heavy spotting until the middle of last week when it finally lightened up! Now I've had 3 days spot-free. I'm hoping this means my cycle has started to regulate. I'm still very nervous about using it without a condom, but so far, it's been a decent experience! I'm still a little emotional and am really hoping that will subside."

For Birth Control "So I got my Liletta in May of 2017. I just had it removed in April 2018 due to the fact that every time I turned around, I was cramping so bad, and it felt like I was being stabbed, or by being in a certain position, it felt like it was coming out, which it wasn't. I had major mood swings, it was horrible. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody with how much pain I was in for most of a year. Most people have different experiences, but mine, well, it was like I was doubled over in pain all the time, so I had it removed for my health."

For Birth Control "I am 32, tall, slightly heavy, never had children. I had Liletta inserted in April 2018. It is now June 2018, and I've been bleeding nonstop the entire time. The insertion process was honestly the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I chose an IUD because I wanted a method of birth control that would be consistent without my having to take a pill every day. I've never had strong menstrual cramps before, but with Liletta in, I experience cramps continuously. I've had the heaviest flows of my life, mood swings, my sex drive has vanished, and I have acne worse than I had as a teenager, especially on my back and shoulders. I'm looking to get this thing removed in the next week or so and just use condoms because it isn't worth it to go through this discomfort and pain."

For Birth Control "I rushed into getting an IUD. Didn't do enough research. I spoke to a few people who have IUDs, and they love them. Well, I hate mine. It was the worst pain I've ever felt when I got it inserted. I've had it for about a month now, and I haven't stopped spotting or bleeding since I got it. I have random cramps and back pains. I feel bloated, and I have major mood swings. I have my monthly follow-up appointment tomorrow, and I'm thinking about having it removed, depending on what my doctor says."

For Birth Control "I was originally taking a daily pill: Scronyx, which caused my blood pressure to spike, so the next best thing was the IUD, I went with Liletta. The insertion was painful yet tolerable, the pain lasted for a few days. The bleeding was the worst part, I was bleeding heavily for two months straight. I was beginning to get concerned, so I went back to my doctor. She told me that women can bleed for three to six months, so I thought I'd deal with it. I have reached month seven, I'm still getting my monthly that lasts 9 days, and my mood swings are just awful. The only good thing about this IUD is I have lost a few pounds. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone."

For Birth Control "I've had this IUD since April 2017. The initial issue was bleeding for about a week, but other problems in the long run for me are the mood swings, feeling deep depression, and the slight weight gain. Even after eating right and working out, I wasn't able to lose any weight while having this IUD in me, unlike when I didn't have it in me, I could lose weight fast. I do have periods, but they aren't as heavy and are very irregular. For me, this IUD does its job. I haven't gotten pregnant at all while on it. It's good to get if you aren't trying to get pregnant, of course, but be sure to do your research in advance and review others' side effects to it before getting it, which I wish I did but didn't. If I did, I wouldn't have gotten it, and I plan to remove it ASAP."

For Birth Control "I had it inserted in April, and it was very uncomfortable. I'm 37 with 2 children, and I still found it to be uncomfortable. The doctor had to reinsert it because I let out a heavy breath, and it slid out. My last period was in April. I haven't had a period since. The only issue I have had is being very sensitive and emotional. But I want to have sex all the time, which my husband loves."

For Birth Control "I just finished having my Liletta removed after two years in. I originally got this IUD to help with my heavy flow, which consisted of 8-12 days long. After insertion, I bled/spotted for about 6 months. After that, my period would come for about 3 days and would only need to wear panty liners. However, my last year, my period was all over the place, and I began to feel some side effects. For example: lethargy, spotting, cramps, breast swelling, nipple tenderness, vaginal dryness, mood swings, and weight gain. My period was also impossible to track, if I could guess, I would say I had a period of 3-4 days twice a month at random times. I removed it this week, and I feel better, I lost 3 lbs so far, my sore breasts and nipples are gone, and most importantly, I feel happy."

For Birth Control "I've had the Liletta IUD for a year and a half. I'm being dramatic, but it feels like it has ruined my sense of self and me overall. They say weight gain is not a part of the side effects, but you'll feel incredibly bloated all the time. Then you'll be too depressed and chronically anxious to work out or do anything. It also, for me, caused rapid mood swings and cravings that I've never experienced. Prior to my IUD, I was 120 lb, now I'm reaching 160 lb, despite staying active and eating healthy. I can't shed the weight. I feel pregnant even though I'm not. Swollen ankles, bloated, moody, chronically anxious ALL the time, and the worst body and facial acne that I've never had to deal with before. It caused these crazy cystic zits, despite me trying everything to keep it at bay. Needless to say, this has been a living nightmare, and I'm throwing a party after I get it removed. It's an official divorce party from the nightmarish IUD."

For Birth Control "I got the IUD only one week ago, so I'm guessing it's too soon to post and will update when more time passes. The insertion was very painful to me. I cried a little, and then it was over. However, the real pain has been for the past 7 days since insertion. I have terrible cramps and major mood swings. I am also spotting and truly haven't had any desire to have sex with my boyfriend because I've been in so much pain. I will be giving it 2 more weeks, but I can't withstand so much more of this pain. I'm 28 years old, and I'm an attorney, so it's pretty disruptive to be in a meeting with a client when I'm cringing because of the pain. As of now, I truly regret this decision..."

For Birth Control "I recently got the Liletta inserted (June 2016). I have been feeling very bloated lately, and after I eat I still feel hungry. I have been on an emotional rollercoaster (I control my emotions very well, I calm myself down and usually am a very self-uplifting person), so something is definitely wrong! I have light cramping every day and breast tenderness here and there, just like acne. You know your own body, and you know when something is wrong. I don't know if it's because I recently had a baby (April), maybe it's the IUD and recently giving birth and my body trying to adjust? I don't know, all I know is that this SUCKS!!! I had the Mirena before and didn't have as many problems as this one, and it's supposedly the same thing, just a generic brand."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta in November 2016. I had gone off birth control when I was 21 after being on the pill/NuvaRing for 6 years. I am now 27 and am in a serious relationship, so I decided to get an IUD. I don't like it. I am going to get the strings trimmed in a few weeks when I go in for my annual. My boyfriend can feel it almost every time we have sex, and the strings have cut him. I had my period for the first month straight, and then regular/heavy spotting till April. I get random pangs of discomfort pretty regularly in my uterus/cervix. It honestly feels like my body is just angry and rejecting the IUD. I also experience mood swings and I have never been so emotionally sensitive in my life."

For Birth Control "I decided to get an IUD once I decided to go back to grad school. I usually take pain like a champ. Insertion was painful, I had a vagal response and almost passed out on the table. I had some cramping the next few days, but what really got me were the mood swings. I felt angry all the time and had the urge to call my ex and scream at him, which isn't me at all. My gyno told me to give it 6 months. The mood swings have since subsided, but right now I'm struggling with hormonal acne around my chin and back. I'm hoping it gets better, or I plan to have it removed and go back to the pill."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted on Jan. 2021, and it was truly the worst experience I have ever had. I was so excited to have an IUD, it seemed like the perfect solution. I just got it removed today on October 19, 2021, and it was the best decision to get it removed. From my experience, I have never felt so out of touch with myself or my body. First, I gained 30 lbs. I went from 128 to 160 in 10 months. Nothing changed in terms of my diet or workout schedule. I remember trying on clothes at a store and having a mental breakdown because I was always so bloated and my normal sizes weren’t fitting. As a woman, one of the worst feelings. Second, my emotions were all over the place. On certain days, I cried because I felt so upset at absolutely nothing, while others I was very irritable and mad at everything. It was so frustrating to have your whole mood switched and not even understand why or how to fix it. Then I had to pay $300 to get it taken out. I would never want a woman to feel the way I felt."

For Birth Control "I had bad cramping for 1 week, and then it spontaneously went away. The mood swings lasted 4 weeks, but then went away quickly as well."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta in February. The insertion hurt a little, but not too bad, and it only lasted a couple of minutes (I took ibuprofen 20 minutes before). I was not on my period when I had it inserted. I only had cramping for like 20 minutes after, and it was just in my legs. My first period after getting the IUD lasted for a little over 3 weeks and would switch between spotting and heavy bleeding. Since then, my period comes on the same day every month and is very light (fingers crossed it just goes away). I usually can get away with just wearing a liner. I do get leg cramps every time I have a period now, though. Usually, ibuprofen will make them go away. I haven't had weight gain or acne, but I am super emotional now. More than I've ever been."
