For Birth Control "My first year was okay - the only symptom I noticed was extra cramping when I would normally get my period. It was painful, but typically only lasted 1-2 days/month. I had super heavy and painful periods prior, so the 1-2 day struggle without bleeding felt like a relief. I experienced no weight gain year 1. Years 2-3 have been absolutely terrible. It’s like one day the IUD flipped into overdrive. The worst symptom has been the extreme anxiety/depression. Having panic attacks almost daily, suicidal thoughts, and just don’t even feel like I’m in my body. I’ve struggled with anxiety throughout my life, but nothing that exercise couldn’t fix. Now I barely can do that due to the crippling anxiety and panic attacks. Weight gain started in year two, and it seems like no matter what I do, I can’t regulate it - for context, I work with a dietician and exercise daily for at least an hour."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted June '16, was uncomfortable, cramped for a week after. Periods got lighter then stopped. A year later I started just spotting for my period. I use a regular tampon or panty liner for it. The issue I have is it comes out brown and mostly dry. My face also started to break out again and my hair pattern changed. Lost 40+ lbs while on this, but I can't say if that stuff was from the IUD or something else. I'm always bloated, on and off all day for no reason, even when not eating. I get random cramping, too. Having issues with my depression and anxiety: don't recognize my behavior; the littlest things make me sad or anxious, always worried about everything and haven't been able to maintain relationships because it's gotten so bad. Never used to be like this. Thinking of getting it removed as I've had it for 2 years and want to be hormone-free. Other than my hair, skin, mood changes and bloating, I would recommend this to people."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta IUD inserted 8/05/15. The insertion was super painful. I have a low threshold for pain and have never had kids. The cramps were horrible for an hour after the insertion. I was nauseous and lightheaded. Ever since I got it, I have been spotting. I haven't gone more than a week without spotting, max maybe 3 or 4 days. It's so annoying! I will bleed for a day, then nothing for 2 days, then brownish discharge. The spotting is very random. I am thinking of switching to pills because of this. The only good thing is that my PMS symptoms have gone down since I started using it. I used to be EXTREMELY moody and irritable due to PMS, but that is not the case anymore. It has been effective in keeping me not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta on March 14, 2017, after I gave birth to my first child on January 21. The procedure was very quick, like 5 minutes, but the pain I have experienced since doesn't seem to be worth it. I have spotted every single day since I got it, which I hate because I don't like sleeping wearing panties sometimes, but I have to wear a pad 24/7 now and have bad uterine cramps. My uterus sits to the back, so I also get bad back pains as well. Every time I go to the ER, they do an ultrasound and say everything looks fine. The strings are very long out of my cervix, and I've had discomfort during sexual intercourse almost every single time. Seems to be effective for preventing pregnancy so far. Just a lot of complications to adjust your body to."

For Birth Control "Got Liletta inserted May 24th, 2017. Had originally gone in on May 23rd, but after 800 mg of ibuprofen and 30 mins spread eagle in the terrible clamps of vaginal agony, my physician told me that my cervix was 'too tight' and that she was 'getting a lot of resistance' when trying the procedure, which she showed me and was admittedly small. So I was rescheduled the next Monday. I went with a different doctor and was prescribed Misoprostol to take that night and dilate my cervix. And T3 for the pain. And thank God! Lol, it was over in 30 seconds, but it brought tears to my eyes. Cramped pretty badly for the next 6 hours. Then mild cramps and low back soreness for a day. Day three has delivered me terrible acne. But no crazy spotting or pain. Will review as I go."

For Birth Control "I have had this IUD for a few weeks. I've always struggled with weight gain with hormones. I can't take estrogen. On the Depo, I gained 30 pounds in 3 months. Then I tried the Paragard, no weight gain, but excruciating pain every day for the year I had it in (suspecting an allergy). Then I tried Nexplanon, thinking it was less hormones, lots of people like it. Gained that same 30 pounds back, but over 8 months instead of 3 before I discontinued. I also had awful anxiety and no sex drive. That said, besides cramping, I've had zero side effects so far with Liletta. No weight gain, no anxiety, normal libido. And for those who don't know, there are several chemically different progestins. Maybe one works for you, another doesn't. Do your research."

For Birth Control "Normally I have a 3-5 day flow with cramps/back pain for 2 days. After a pregnancy scare, I decided to get this IUD put in. Insertion was a bit more painful than I anticipated, and I had some bleeding for a day or two. I'm now on my first period with it, and I've been having some form of bleeding for 10 days now. I am extremely frustrated. I did read that periods may be heavier/irregular for the first 3-4 months. I suppose I mentally anticipated a heavier flow rather than a normal/lighter flow for a longer period of time. I would much prefer the former. I have cramps every day now for about an hour or two, and even when the flow darkens I get cramps and back to bright red blood. It feels like I'll have my period forever. Will update."

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta IUD inserted yesterday at PP, and I expected it to be much worse than it was! The tech who inserted it was so friendly and made me feel comfortable and less awkward. She explained what she was doing every step of the way, and the only pain I felt was some moderate cramping when she clamped my cervix. I had some cramps and felt really worn out yesterday, but no spotting, and feel completely normal today! I took extra strength ibuprofen, the cramps were more an annoyance than anything else. Side note: I had sex today (with a condom), and it was definitely enjoyable on both ends, no weirdness with strings-I honestly think it helped my cramps subside. I'll update this in a few months and let you all know how I feel after the hormones kick in!"

For Birth Control "I had my IUD inserted over 6 months ago. The insertion process was debilitating, the clamp slipped off my cervix THREE times. I had excruciating cramps the rest of the day, which I medicated with Aleve and a heating pad. After that, no symptoms! No period! No spotting, no cramps, no headaches, etc. etc. Until last week, I've started cramping and spotting REALLY dark blood. I'm having headaches and breaking out. I'm hoping this is temporary, but I've struggled to find reviews from anyone who has had it in as long as me or longer. Fingers crossed it doesn't persist or get any worse!"

For Birth Control "I wanted to share because I had the Liletta IUD inserted today, and I was terrified after reading all these reviews. I almost didn't go through with it. However, after a lengthy discussion with my doctor, I did. And personally, the pain during was nothing. Literally felt like a small pinch. And so far, I've had no cramping. Yes, I'm bleeding, but I'm on my period, per my doctor, the best time to put it in. I can't believe how worked up I was about the pain. I'm not saying the reviews are false because everyone is different, but to anyone reading these who hasn't had it, don't fully take these to heart. You know your body. Talk to your doctor. I'm so glad I went through with it."

For Birth Control "So I got Liletta inserted about two years ago. Previously, I had the Skyla IUD. Removal of the old IUD and insertion of Liletta were honestly not bad. I had heard horror stories of the pain from friends, so I had mentally prepped for it to be awful, I think. It was obviously uncomfortable, but tolerable in my experience. The first 4-6 months with this thing were rough for me. Liletta is larger with a higher hormone dose than my prior IUD, so maybe that's why my body had so many issues. I actually went in for an ultrasound because I thought it was displaced. Turned out everything was normal. I had a lot of random bleeding and really bad cramping frequently. After about six months, these side effects subsided. Since then, it's been a lovely birth control. I don't have a period at all, don't get cramps, and won't get pregnant! What more can you ask for? It's FDA approved for six years, so I guess it was worth the first speed bump and six months of pain. I will say I think it has caused some acne."

For Birth Control "I have had this IUD for 5 months and just had it removed! Finally! I have had constant cramping since it was inserted 8 weeks after having my baby. My periods have been very heavy (worse than the bleeding I had after having my baby) and long-lasting 2 weeks, sometimes longer. With the Mirena, I never had this issue or the cramping, I didn't have a period after 2 months with the Mirena and no cramping at all after insertion. This thing is so not worth it, and I should have stuck with what I knew worked."

For Birth Control "I have had the Liletta IUD in place for about 4 months now. I don't recommend getting this form of birth control. Insertion is very painful. I didn't bleed that hard after insertion and have had a period every month, but more recently I have been getting horrible random cramps with slight spotting, terrible back pain, headaches, having a terrible time losing the baby weight (she's 7 months old... only lost 8 pounds), worse acne than I had in high school, fatigued, and extreme mood swings. Think 3 times before getting this put in place. I am scheduled to get mine removed in a week, and I can't wait."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta almost 3 weeks ago. The process was painful but was over very quickly. I had pretty bad cramps for about five days afterwards, along with my normal period. I've been spotting since then, and it's making me kind of annoyed. Every day I'm hoping it'll stop. Besides that, it's fine, and I'm hoping the benefits will be worth the annoying amount of spotting."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta put in at my 6-week post-natal appointment in March 2018. The pain was so bad that I fainted at the checkout desk on my way out! Shortly after insertion, I started having 2 periods a month and constant cramping. My stomach also felt so bloated all the time, enough so that at 9 months postpartum, I was asked twice if I was pregnant again! I also had zero sex drive, sex was uncomfortable, and I just felt angry all the time when I’m normally a really positive person. Also, in the 6 months of having it, I almost gained all my baby weight back and couldn’t lose weight for the life of me. I could not figure out what was happening! Due to the cramping, I decided to have it removed and just happened to look at these reviews around the same time. I am 99% sure all my symptoms were due to Liletta. Since removal, my bloating is gone, I’m down 5 lbs, my sex drive is back, and I just feel happy again. I think I’m done with hormonal birth control!"

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted on January 10th at 2 pm. The pain from the scale of 1-10 was a 9.7. I never had kids, no abortions. I swore out loud when I had this inserted. It wasn't a pain I ever felt before, and that's having 3 tattoos and piercings, as well as wisdom teeth surgery and a cyst removal on my shoulder. This was PAIN. The serious pain, though, lasted I would say 2-3 minutes. After was serious cramping like I've never had before. The next 2-3 days was spotting brown and weird colors, I don't know. The cramping was INTENSE. I don't normally have bad cramps on my period, but holy cow, these cramps had me on the floor, on the couch, on the bed curled up in a ball... It's the 16th of January, and I feel SO much better! No cramps or bloating! :)"

For Birth Control "I’ve had the Liletta for almost 2 months now. Insertion was incredibly painful, even with pain medication, and I almost passed out. Cramps subsided after a couple of days. I spotted for the first few days, and then I didn’t get my period for over a month. When I finally got it, it lasted over seven days, when mine were normally three. The week leading up, I ended up having a cyst that ruptured, which was incredibly painful. I’ve been incredibly moody, and my anxiety is at an all-time high. I will get random spurts of unexplained nausea, sex is painful, my libido is lower, and I have a lot of pelvic pain. I’m giving this another month to see how my next cycle goes, and if no improvement, I’m getting this awful device out!"

For Birth Control "It's almost 2 am in Florida. This is how much I hate Liletta. I've had it for a month and have never been in so much pain in my entire life. I've been up all night vomiting, my period is that bad with it. The cramps are knock-the-wind-out-of-you bad. I never experienced this with Paragard. I'm getting it removed next week. I will literally sit at the office if they don't give me an appointment, and I'll refuse to leave until this is out of me. I've never been in consistent pain like this. The mood swings are for the birds too."

For Birth Control "I’ve had Liletta for a short period of time, maybe two weeks. The insertion was terrible, like I won’t lie, I almost threw up! But I had cramps for about an hour after, nothing too bad. Then I went home and worked on the farm with no issues! I get a little crampy for about 5 minutes, like once a day, but that’s about it. I’ve spotted twice since being on it. I love it so far!"

For Birth Control "I had my insertion a week ago at a Planned Parenthood location. I was nervous after reading all the reviews - but honestly - it was nothing. Let it be said - it was uncomfortable (like a yearly exam) but not painful. I had a few cramps for 2 days but nothing unmanageable. I was on my period (which the doc said helps) and took 600 mg ibuprofen an hour before the visit. I have been spotting ever since (only a week), but no pain or cramps."

For Birth Control "I have had Liletta for almost three months now. I really like it. Insertion was painful, be sure to take ibuprofen prior to. I think I have had a couple of periods since, but nothing noteworthy, they are short. There has been some seemingly random cramping that I went back to the doctor to check out, but everything is fine. I'm well on my way to no periods, period! I will say I have been breaking out, and that's unusual for me. I had a group of pimples that didn't go away for a long time."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta IUD inserted in February 2019. I am happy to say that as of June 19, 2019, it has been removed. The insertion was slightly painful, and the removal was just a quick, sharp pain, which was tolerable. I experienced bleeding every day except two weeks from the time of insertion. The last 4 weeks were the worst. It is great birth control because you are bleeding so much you don't want to have sex. It did help with the excessive cramping I experienced during my menstrual cycle prior to the insertion. It took me from heavy bleeding once a month (prior to insertion) to spotting daily (after insertion), which went to brown, then red, then to light bleeding. The last straw was when I started bleeding daily for almost 4 weeks. Unfortunately, two days after removal, it is like I have started my period again with heavy bleeding and clotting. I am just glad it is out of there. Good luck, ladies!"

For Birth Control "Soooo, I just gave birth this year in January. This is my third child. Before I wore Liletta, I used to have Mirena, which I was really requesting, but apparently my OB office didn’t carry it. Anyways, I’ve had the Liletta since April of this year 2019. Here I am in December 2019, here are some things I don’t like about it. When the doc put it on me, I bled. It gave me cramps for a couple of days; worst of all, I hated it. I was on my period for a good 2-3 months. I kept calling almost every other week requesting to take it out, but the NP kept insisting that I give it more time. Finally, the bleeding stopped. Until now, I hate it more. From my last 2 pregnancies, I was able to go back to my regular size, which was around 115-120 at the most. Now I am literally at 140-145; the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life. No matter what kind of diet I change or eat so little sometimes, just eating 1x a day, my weight doesn’t change. With that being said, I am really considering going in and removing it."
