For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted in the beginning of September (5ish months ago). The insertion was painful, and I almost passed out. I had severe abdominal cramps the rest of the day and night. The next day, they improved, and then I barely had any cramping pain by the third day. About 3 weeks later, I had my period, which ended up lasting for 29 days straight, but since then, I have not had any period. Also, 3 weeks after insertion, I started losing a lot of hair, maybe hormonal from suddenly stopping the combo pills and switching to an IUD. I am still shedding a lot and have dandruff now, which I never had before. I developed bad cystic acne for about 2 months, which has now improved, but my skin is not as clear as it used to be. Also, do not let them cut the string really short, as it can be uncomfortable for a partner who is well-endowed since it pokes them. My partner preferred it longer because it didn't poke as much (the string was cut on my follow-up appointment 1 month after insertion)."

For Birth Control "I am 25, been on birth control pills for 5 years and decided to try Liletta because I was tired of taking pills. I absolutely love my IUD! I wish I had gotten one years ago! I've had mine now about 3 weeks. Getting it inserted is not as bad as what everybody says it is. Yes, it hurts, yes, you cramp, but it's nothing unbearable. I have been spotting since insertion, but it keeps getting lighter and lighter. I have actually lost a few pounds since getting it inserted. I would highly recommend."

For Birth Control "I had this Liletta birth control inserted about a week ago, and so far I have been bleeding nonstop with only a few breaks in between. Cramps are very strong here and there, but manageable too. The insertion is painful, but with deep breaths, you'll be fine. Intercourse is impossible at times because of the bleeding, however, I got a break and tried it, and my boyfriend couldn't feel the strings, so that's a plus. But I'll keep you updated with this experience."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta on Aug. 14, 2019. Insertion wasn’t bad, it did hurt, like bad cramps, but it was bearable. So far, the only symptoms are light cramping and backaches. My period was scheduled to start the day of my insertion, so I spotted that day but then got my period the next day. My period usually lasts 7 days, but I’m on the 10th day and I still have bleeding. Not a full period, but not light spotting. I will update my experience after a couple more weeks."

For Birth Control "Everyone has a different experience, this one is mine. Just had the Liletta inserted today, there was discomfort, but it was quick. I’m having a lot of cramping, and I feel drowsy and sore. I honestly feel like I just gave birth, I can’t find the strength to walk. If you do plan on getting the Liletta IUD, just be prepared to have the rest of the day off to rest if you happen to have the same experience as I do."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta put in May 2016. A little discomfort at the time of insertion. Light spotting and cramping the day after. Overall, for me and my husband, he doesn't feel a thing. I totally hate the spotting. Literally bleeding for 3 weeks. Then normal for 2. Maybe a little exaggerated on the 3 weeks. But I've figured out the process. 2 weeks of daily, consistent spotting. 1 week menses. Normal the week after menses and the week of ovulation. Trying to wait the 6 months. My doctor says it stops around that time. Wish me luck."

For Birth Control "Absolutely horrible. My hair is falling out, bloated all of the time. I had to start a pill to stop the constant bleeding, short temper, major depression. I have little control over my emotions now, cramping, acne. I've been losing bits of bloody skin, weight gain, and my anxiety has gotten 10 times worse. I'd never recommend this to anyone. I almost cried when the nurse told me that she couldn't get me in until next week. I don't know if I can handle this any longer, and I've only had it in for two months."

For Birth Control "I wanted to share my experience after reading several reviews. I had the procedure about 10 hours ago, and I do have a high pain tolerance. I felt as though the procedure was uncomfortable but not really painful. I have not had any cramps or discomfort all evening, with very minor spotting. So far, things are going well. I did take 800 mg of ibuprofen before the insertion, but nothing since."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta inserted on February 9th, 2016. The insertion was a little painful, with some cramps following the procedure. With questions and all, the procedure only took about 10 minutes. I was really nervous after reading some reviews, so I wanted to share mine since mine is more positive than others. I was on my period during the insertion, and it actually stopped the next day, and I've had minimal spotting since. I was told that would last up to 6 weeks, but it's really been maybe two full days since the procedure. All in all, glad I went through with it."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta because I just want my period to STOP! I read that most women just spot or stop getting their period, which is not my experience. I got it back in February 2019, and since then my period is the same, just with more cramping and occasionally leaking through tampons, so I have to wear a pad. The worst part is weight gain and constant bloating. My breasts regrew after breast reduction. I am so depressed with the way I look. I am getting it removed."

For Birth Control "I'm 19 (no kids), and I got this inserted because regular birth control pills were giving me extremely unhealthy side effects like blackout migraines where my vision would blur. The insertion was definitely painful, and I bled for several days after. My cramping was excruciating the first 2-3 days but settled afterward. I had occasional cramps for weeks that would hurt a lot but not unbearable. I still get my period, but it's very light, and I experience spotting a few days before my period and a few days after. However, I'm so happy I got an IUD rather than continuing to take pills. I think it's definitely worth it, and now, 3 months later, I barely experience any side effects. I still have occasional cramps during my period but not bad at all."

For Birth Control "I’ve had the Liletta IUD for 3 months now, so I’ve had a little time to observe how my body feels with it. I’ve yet to gain weight, I’ve actually lost 8 pounds. (I’ve been trying.) I don’t feel any hormonal mood swings that I would count as out of the ordinary. I do get random cramping and low back pain before my period starts, but it’s manageable. My sex drive increased at first but seems about normal now. I do not feel “dry” as I’ve heard some complain of. And I’m still getting a period about once a month to six weeks. It lasts about 12 days instead of 7, but it’s light. Overall, I’m loving this so far! All those nasty hormonal side effects I had with other methods have yet to appear."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta IUD put in about two years ago because the pill was giving me terrible side effects. I had headaches, painful periods, and weight gain on the pill. I was also tired of taking the pill every day and wanted to try an IUD! My doctor recommended Liletta (I believe the reasons were I have never had children and I suffer from PCOS). The insertion was painful but nothing unbearable, I drove home after and soreness disappeared within a week (the majority of the pain dissipates within hours). I have really loved Liletta, no weight gain, no crazy side effects. I do not get a regular period, but I didn't on the pill either, so that is to be expected. I love never having to worry about forgetting the pill or forgetting to pack it with me on trips. If you are considering an IUD, try it, and if it is not for you, you can get it taken out whenever! To offset all of the horror stories shared here, I wanted to share my story! I really like Liletta and would recommend!"

For Birth Control "Worst experience. Insertion took way too long and was so painful. My doctor had to cauterize me with silver nitrate to stop the bleeding. I was nauseous and dizzy for half an hour after. They did an ultrasound to be sure it was in place, it was. After a week with horrible cramping and bleeding, I went back in for a recheck. Another ultrasound showed it had rotated and was lodged in my uterus. Removed and will never have this IUD again. If I could give zero stars, I would."

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta inserted 3 days ago. I was scared after reading the reviews. The insertion took about 10 minutes, it was not painful at all. It was more of a pinch here and there that only lasted a few seconds. Once my doctor was done, I had mild cramps for about 15-20 minutes. But nothing major, nowhere close to period cramps. My doctor recommended Liletta because I am unable to have estrogen. I was previously on the pill and developed blood clots. I now have two in my lungs and several in my legs. Since I am on blood thinners, this is not a good time to become pregnant. So far, no bleeding, I spotted the day of the insertion, but that was it. I will leave another review in 90 days. ♀"

For Birth Control "I almost didn't go through after reading these reviews. I have had Liletta for about 2 months. I have no tolerance for pain whatsoever. I took a tramadol 2 hours before my appointment. My doctor advised that it would be painful for a short while, especially since I have never been pregnant. She was very good during the insertion about letting me know when pain would occur. It was very painful for about 3-4 hours. After that, it was similar to my normal cramps for 2 days. I spotted for the first 4 days, just enough for a panty liner, not even a pad, and have not had any spotting since. I have had no issues with my boyfriend and the strings or being dry 'down there' as I have read with some others. My sex drive has increased since having it."

For Birth Control "I had the insertion on April 19, 2017. As expected, the procedure was uncomfortable and caused some cramping that lasted for the day. I had been struggling with acne breakouts prior to getting the IUD, and the breakouts have definitely subsided. The only downside is that, almost 2 months later, I am still bleeding. Although it is light, still very inconvenient and annoying."

For Birth Control "Got my Liletta inserted today, 06/15/17, which happens to be the last day of my period. I will tell you that I went into this without ANY type of meds, and the insertion was awesome. I did feel a slight pinch a couple of times that felt like a cramp, but honestly, I barely noticed it. I was told the cervix is more dilated when on your period and is the best time to get an IUD... FYI. I did spot and bleed for about an hour after I had it done, minimal cramps though. Overall, this has been way better than I expected. I hope it all continues to be a breeze. I'll let you know in a couple of months."

For Birth Control "Had Liletta for 3.5 years, had it removed and replaced with Mirena as I had met the deductible for insurance this year. Liletta is pretty much the same as Mirena in terms of hormone release per day. 1st insertion - large dilator, cramps, bleeding for about 3 months - then - no more heavy cycles, improvement in cramps. No mood changes or weight changes and the best - no pregnancy scares. Then on to the replacement with Mirena - Liletta came out easily, few big cramps with dilators/insertion, all manageable with ibuprofen. I took the afternoon off from work to watch bad soaps with a heating pad. Back to the gym the following morning with no pain or cramps. Now I am good for 5 years with the most reliable contraception out there. Will never go back to the birth control pill with this available!"

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta inserted January 3rd, and I’ve had it for almost six months now. I absolutely love and recommend it. I have no acne, no weight gain, no mood problems, only about two periods, no problems with spotting. I only get cramps around the time I usually have a period and a bit after sex. Insertion was during my period, it was just a big cramp and then some throughout the week. Don’t let scary reviews scare you out of it, I’m 18, and this was one of my best decisions. Everyone’s body and experience is different."

For Birth Control "Liletta was effective. I didn’t get pregnant while I had it, but it wasn’t a good experience. Insertion wasn’t too bad, but my doctor told me to take some Tylenol before I came in. I spotted for the first 6 months in addition to my longer periods. One night, having sex, it must’ve moved. I had cramps off and on for a month, and sex hurt. I called the doctor; they were unconcerned because I could still feel my strings. I finally gave up, called to have it removed. Removal was fast and easy, but a day after I started to feel very tired, started bleeding very heavily with lots of clots. I’ve also gained 17 pounds over this last year. It is effective, but my expectations weren’t met: painful sex, lots of spotting, longer than normal periods, weight gain, headaches, and moodiness. Won’t ever use any IUD again."

For Birth Control "Insertion of Liletta was painful for a quick minute. Bled for a few days. Week 1 - couldn’t find strings. After bleeding stopped, I got nasty, smelly discharge. Called Planned Parenthood, they said take a probiotic. Ok? Week 2 - EXTREME cramps for a week straight, worse than insertion. Tender breasts, constipation, then diarrhea and vaginal bleeding whenever I had a BM? Couldn’t get hold of Planned Parenthood. Cramps stopped, and then I had HEAVY bleeding. Bled through a regular tampon in a half hour. Was bleeding nonstop 24/7 for 4 days after a full week of bleeding with cramps. Still couldn’t get hold of anyone to help me. This morning - (end of week 2) woke up, and the IUD had come out. Okay??? Cool, didn’t like you anyway. I’m more dissatisfied by how I was treated as a patient than I am with Liletta. I’m pretty sure it was misplaced and that’s why I had weird issues. Might try again with a different provider."

For Birth Control "Decided to go on birth control after terminating an unplanned pregnancy for I was not ready. Nine months into Liletta, I have periods that can last up to two weeks and severe cramping all the time randomly. So bad, my whole legs go weak. Pain when having sex. Headaches and nauseous. Debating whether to have it removed or stick it out for a year. The side effects are not worth the pain."

For Birth Control "I’ve had Liletta for 9 months now, and personally, I love it! No more periods, I don’t have to worry about getting pregnant, taking pills every day, or getting a shot. I am 22 (was 21 when I got it) and do not have any children. However, I would STRONGLY recommend taking some ibuprofen or some kind of pain meds before going to get it inserted. Not sure if it was because my cervix is tilted, or if it’s because I’ve never had children before... but I cried from the pain. After insertion, I had slight cramps and a little bleeding for a few days. But since then, no more periods!! Since about a week after getting it inserted, I can’t feel it, it’s like I don’t even have it! I have and will recommend this product!"
