For Birth Control "I have had the Liletta IUD for about one year and a half. I have had the worst experience with it. I have never had cystic acne before, and I have never gained so much weight! I have never had anxiety so bad as it is now with this. I am finally going to have it removed. I have gained 27 lbs, and I am extremely unhappy."

For Birth Control "I’ve had the Liletta for about 5 days now. The insertion was not what I expected, it was really painful, and I had bleeding for 2 days, which is all normal. Also, I instantly got a UTI after it was inserted, and it still has not eased up or gone away with medication. My cervix hurts. It feels swollen and just uncomfortable. I got this a year after my son was born, I’ve never been on birth control before. I’m calling tomorrow to get it removed, especially after reading some of these comments. I’ve already started breaking out, and my stomach is so bloated every night. I’m not waiting around for any of the other symptoms to start. I don’t know how else to explain it other than my body just feels weird and uncomfortable. I want it out. The only plus side is not having to worry about popping up pregnant, but it doesn’t outweigh the worry of what it’s actually doing to my body. This is just not natural, and I don’t like it."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted June '16, was uncomfortable, cramped for a week after. Periods got lighter then stopped. A year later I started just spotting for my period. I use a regular tampon or panty liner for it. The issue I have is it comes out brown and mostly dry. My face also started to break out again and my hair pattern changed. Lost 40+ lbs while on this, but I can't say if that stuff was from the IUD or something else. I'm always bloated, on and off all day for no reason, even when not eating. I get random cramping, too. Having issues with my depression and anxiety: don't recognize my behavior; the littlest things make me sad or anxious, always worried about everything and haven't been able to maintain relationships because it's gotten so bad. Never used to be like this. Thinking of getting it removed as I've had it for 2 years and want to be hormone-free. Other than my hair, skin, mood changes and bloating, I would recommend this to people."

For Birth Control "Got Liletta inserted May 24th, 2017. Had originally gone in on May 23rd, but after 800 mg of ibuprofen and 30 mins spread eagle in the terrible clamps of vaginal agony, my physician told me that my cervix was 'too tight' and that she was 'getting a lot of resistance' when trying the procedure, which she showed me and was admittedly small. So I was rescheduled the next Monday. I went with a different doctor and was prescribed Misoprostol to take that night and dilate my cervix. And T3 for the pain. And thank God! Lol, it was over in 30 seconds, but it brought tears to my eyes. Cramped pretty badly for the next 6 hours. Then mild cramps and low back soreness for a day. Day three has delivered me terrible acne. But no crazy spotting or pain. Will review as I go."

For Birth Control "I got this IUD inserted 6 months ago, back in October 2018. I will admit it was a tad painful with insertion, but it went smooth, and I was out of the office within 10 mins of insertion. I did have a few months of spotting midway between periods, as my doctor said would happen. My periods were always super heavy and long, and now they are much lighter, about 5/6 days long, and I’m not really noticing any PMS symptoms. I am also in prep for my next bodybuilding competition and have no issues losing weight for my show. I train 6 days a week and just increased cardio to 6 times a week and lost 2 lbs in one week, so weight gain isn’t an issue for me. I do notice acne, but I always broke out during my period, so it’s not different than before. So far, I’m loving my experience with this Liletta IUD. I already have kids and don’t want any more, so now I know I’m good for another 6.5 years! Still waiting to completely stop having periods, tho, lol. Major selling point!"

For Birth Control "Holy moly, the acne! I am 27 and got Liletta inserted 7 months ago. I had a similar insertion experience as others did. My periods went away completely. I am not gaining weight. But my skin is horrendous and has slowly been getting worse with time. I'm thinking about getting it out to save my skin. If you are acne-prone, I would think twice."

For Birth Control "So I got Liletta inserted about two years ago. Previously, I had the Skyla IUD. Removal of the old IUD and insertion of Liletta were honestly not bad. I had heard horror stories of the pain from friends, so I had mentally prepped for it to be awful, I think. It was obviously uncomfortable, but tolerable in my experience. The first 4-6 months with this thing were rough for me. Liletta is larger with a higher hormone dose than my prior IUD, so maybe that's why my body had so many issues. I actually went in for an ultrasound because I thought it was displaced. Turned out everything was normal. I had a lot of random bleeding and really bad cramping frequently. After about six months, these side effects subsided. Since then, it's been a lovely birth control. I don't have a period at all, don't get cramps, and won't get pregnant! What more can you ask for? It's FDA approved for six years, so I guess it was worth the first speed bump and six months of pain. I will say I think it has caused some acne."

For Birth Control "I have had the Liletta IUD in place for about 4 months now. I don't recommend getting this form of birth control. Insertion is very painful. I didn't bleed that hard after insertion and have had a period every month, but more recently I have been getting horrible random cramps with slight spotting, terrible back pain, headaches, having a terrible time losing the baby weight (she's 7 months old... only lost 8 pounds), worse acne than I had in high school, fatigued, and extreme mood swings. Think 3 times before getting this put in place. I am scheduled to get mine removed in a week, and I can't wait."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted in Oct 2015, and now, 1 year later. I'd say I do like this form of birth control. The only things I hate are the weight gain and acne. I've always had some acne, but now my skin is super oily, so it's gotten a bit worse. Other than those two things, I love this. My sex drive has gone up. Hubby loves that."

For Birth Control "I've had the Liletta IUD for about 4 months now. When I first got it, I chose not to be put to sleep, and it hurt really bad and was a little traumatizing. I'm 4 months in and have no extra acne or weight gain. I've been bleeding most of the time I've had it, but they said that is normal for the first 3-6 months. I honestly think it's a great birth control for me, however, everyone is different."

For Birth Control "I have had Liletta for almost three months now. I really like it. Insertion was painful, be sure to take ibuprofen prior to. I think I have had a couple of periods since, but nothing noteworthy, they are short. There has been some seemingly random cramping that I went back to the doctor to check out, but everything is fine. I'm well on my way to no periods, period! I will say I have been breaking out, and that's unusual for me. I had a group of pimples that didn't go away for a long time."

For Birth Control "I'm 23, never given birth, had it inserted 9/16. I have a high pain tolerance, but the insertion was brutal and I nearly passed out. Horrible cramps and weakness the next few days. Although it's effective, I almost got it removed in the first couple of months because of side effects: crazy mood swings, cramps, bloating, cravings, acne all over, spotting. Like puberty all over again. My doctor advised me to give it 6 months and see how I feel. 4 months in, and the side effects are getting better, more noticeable around my period, which has become much lighter but longer. I went from a heavy 4-5 days on the pill to a very light 10-12. I'm not sure if it's a good trade, but I'm going to wait and see if the hormones level out."

For Birth Control "It's been over a month since I've been on it, and I'm really happy with it. No weight gain, sex drive is the same, no acne - however, with that, I'm taking FLO gummies, which I read helps with cystic acne, which can be a side effect of this IUD. The insertion was painful, but it was quick, and after taking ibuprofen, I was fine the rest of the day. I haven't really had a period, but I do spot quite a bit. It's light brownish, but nothing too bad, and it's only ever in the late afternoon for about an hour. I don't mind how frequent it's been considering I switched from the copper IUD, where I was bleeding heavily for 2 full weeks every month, so I'll happily take this frequent spotting right now. Would like it to taper off, but it's only been a month, so I'm gonna be patient with that."

For Birth Control "I was taking the pill for about a year, but felt like I didn't like the mood swings or remembering to take it. I got the Liletta IUD in September of 2015. The initial pain was bearable, and after a few days of spotting, it was over. I have periods sometimes still, but usually only every few months-and the bleeding is very light. As birth control, I love it. But, there are a few things that I don't like: 1) my partner is rather well endowed, and when we have sex in certain positions, the string scratches him a bit. It may have been how it was put in. 2) I got horrible hormonal acne from it. I went from mostly clear skin to awful and painful constant acne. I went to my dermatologist, and I got a medication that cleared it up."

For Birth Control "Had Mirena 5 years, then another one 7 years, with no problems whatsoever! No periods, no weight gain, actually lost weight, had energy. Went in for another replacement and was told them switched to Liletta, but it was the same. Definitely nowhere near the same for me!! Weight gain 25+ in a year, severe migraines, reflux, acne, no energy, abdominal cramps, back pain, high blood pressure. Not to mention so much more painful on insertion than the previous 2! Just had it removed this week. Anything is better than Liletta!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Liletta for a year now. If you never had children like me, you will find the process very painful. I had severe cramping for about an hour after insertion and slight bleeding over a couple of days. My periods are very light now, basically spotting, but they last longer. My acne has not changed; I still break out around the time of my period. And I feel like this IUD might be making me put on weight or not helping me to lose it. Overall, very effective to prevent pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted 6 weeks after having my daughter. It's now been 3.5 months since insertion, and I've decided I don't like this IUD. I am tall and somewhat petite (typically 127 lbs at 5'9, weight gain was 27 lbs during pregnancy), and I have noticed that I am actually gaining back the weight I lost after the baby with this birth control. I am very cautious of what I eat and I exercise, I also intake very little carbs (I have a gluten allergy). I should be keeping weight off, however, I have gained 13 lbs since getting Liletta. I am also experiencing oily skin with acne (first time in my life), along with lower back pain, mild hair loss, and 2 months of consistent bleeding or spotting. I'll be making an appointment to get it removed tomorrow."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta placed in January 2019. I had it removed in August 2019. I did not think the insertion process was terrible, a bit of cramping, but after having kids, I thought it was not too unbearable. After I had it placed, I physically felt fine, but as a week or so went on, I felt nauseous very easily, gained weight, craved sweets, and had terrible headaches. Ok, I hadn't been on birth control for almost 10 years, so I was being patient. Anyhow, as time went on, I have had my period or spotting about 3 out of 4 weeks with a good deal of cramping, an increase in acne, and weight gain of 15 lbs! I had it removed today, which was not painful, but I'm feeling dizzy (likely my body is trying to regulate itself). I sincerely hope others have a better experience than I have had with Liletta!"

For Birth Control "Got this IUD inserted February 2016, it's now July, still bleeding, very bad diarrhea, cramps, acne, weight gain, anxiety, and probably the WORST and most often migraines I've ever experienced in my life-like every other day I have bad headaches. Getting it removed this week, can't wait."

For Birth Control "Just had Liletta put in today. The procedure didn't take long, the pain was bearable but definitely did not feel good. Had some intense cramping for the first few hours, been taking 800 mg ibuprofen every few hours. I was already on my period when it was inserted, so not sure if I bled with insertion or not. Hoping for the best. I did not read up on it at all beforehand because I didn't want to chicken out and not get it, and now I have read up on it and I'm seriously hoping I did not make a big mistake. I don't need any more weight gain or acne or longer periods."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta inserted a year and a half ago to replace Mirena. I've had a LOT of side effects with this, and they continue to get worse as time goes on. The positive: it's effective, and I've had no weight gain. The negative: NO sex drive. I mean none at all. When my husband and I do have sex, it is quite painful. I also have cystic acne, and I've never had this before. The breast tenderness/pain is pretty bad. As another reviewer mentioned, even being in the shower, I can't bear to touch them. As far as my periods...it's different every month. Some months I have one lasting 5 or 6 days, but it's old blood, and that honestly grosses me out. Other months I have 2 or 3 periods lasting 3 or 5 days. The cons by far outweigh the pros for me, so I'm having it removed soon. No more IUDs...the insertion process has been really painful both times, and I don't care to go through it again. Back to the pill I go!"

For Birth Control "I have been having Liletta for 7 months now. I had no trouble at all, everything was perfect: normal periods every month, no pain. But recently, I started to notice a lot of painful acne on my back, shoulders, and neck. I would like to know if this has happened to one of y’all too. Please help."

For Birth Control "I have now had the Liletta for 6 months and will be getting it removed in a few days. Since insertion, I have experienced a plethora of side effects: insomnia, cystic acne, anxiety, breast tenderness, weight gain, brain fog (I can't even remember what I had for breakfast), headaches, mood swings, hot flashes, and night sweats. It is just not worth it to me anymore. I have done some research on the Paraguard and have decided that I don't want to risk using it either. I will stick with condoms and planning around my cycle. My family doctor was reluctant to schedule my removal and claims that these side effects are not related to the IUD. I 100% disagree. Please do some research and some serious thinking before choosing this option. I look forward to getting my body back to normal, sounds like I will have a bit of an uncomfortable detox before that happens."

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta inserted January 3rd, and I’ve had it for almost six months now. I absolutely love and recommend it. I have no acne, no weight gain, no mood problems, only about two periods, no problems with spotting. I only get cramps around the time I usually have a period and a bit after sex. Insertion was during my period, it was just a big cramp and then some throughout the week. Don’t let scary reviews scare you out of it, I’m 18, and this was one of my best decisions. Everyone’s body and experience is different."
