Levofloxacin for Sinusitis "I have been taking Levaquin now for 4 days and feeling great. I have been suffering with a severe sinus infection. For the first 4 days, the doctor put me on 2000 mg/day of amoxicillin, but I continued to be sick. After the 2nd dose of Levaquin, I began my recovery. I had difficulty waking up during the night due to head pain prior to taking the Levaquin, but have experienced some insomnia and vivid dreams while cat-napping. Just about passed out at the cost of the 10-day prescription, but weighing the relief makes it worth it."

For Bronchitis "Horrible!!! Anxiety, dizziness, insomnia, I've been off this drug about a week now, and I'm still dealing with the side effects. Shaking, trembling, I can't even get out of bed, and if I do, it's not for very long. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRUG."

For Sinusitis "I was just prescribed this antibiotic yesterday. I was prescribed 1, 500 mg tab x 10 days for sinus and bronchial infection. I have taken multiple other antibiotics, and it was not clearing the infection up. I have only taken one tablet, and I had insomnia, leg and arm cramping, no appetite. I would recommend staying away from this antibiotic if at all possible."

For Streptococcal Infection "I came up positive on a rapid strep test first time taking this medicine, 7-day, 500 mg. It's day 1, throat is still swollen and can barely swallow, no change yet. Insomnia, I'm so tired and I can't sleep, my heart is racing. I hope this doesn't happen to you."

For Bronchitis "Guys, I promised to get back to you when the cure is over. After the 3rd day, I had the following side effects: nausea, trouble sleeping, gonalgia, and a strong chemical smell on my whole body. So, I consulted with my doctor. We agreed that I stop taking this drug. I just went on with my cough syrup. My bronchitis seems to be over, but I tell you I would never ever use this drug anymore. I am happy that I am out of it without any long-term injury. You should know the proper dose for your age, for your weight, and for your disease, otherwise, perhaps even in that case, you are lost."

For Pneumonia "This is a horrible antibiotic, please think twice before you fill this prescription. Very quickly after I took my first dose of Levoquin, my heart started racing. I was literally sweating all day and could not sleep at all. Gave me horrible anxiety. The side effect lasted for a good 24 hours. When I told my doctor about it, he encouraged me to try it for one more day - and that maybe these side effects were due to a steroid I had taken a day before. I had my doubts, but I took one more dose another day. Same exact side effects, more sweating, anxiety, heart palpitations. Couldn't sleep AGAIN. When I tried to take a Xanax to allow myself to sleep, the result was really bad and caused even more anxiety. Switched to Augmentin."

"I have been taking Levaquin for 3 days for bronchitis. Having difficulty sleeping and have no appetite, along with a headache and a persistent fever. So far, still have bronchitis, coughing up mucus and needing an inhaler. The jury is out, however, as I may be better... soon I hope."

For Kidney Infections "I’m 20, and I took this antibiotic, levofloxacin, for a possible UTI. This drug is the worst. I’ve never experienced severe insomnia until I had this drug. Went days and nights without sleeping, and I am THANKFUL I am done with it. There are other alternative drugs to take. (:"

For Pneumonia "Prescribed this for pneumonia, 1 pill x 5 days. It cleared it right up. However, I'm left with stomach issues, diarrhea, depression, excessive crying over the littlest thing (or nothing at all), sleep disruption, fatigue, occasional chest pains, memory issues, and general malaise. Having it put into my medical records NEVER to give me this class of antibiotic again unless I have MRSA or have been exposed to anthrax. There were other antibiotics that don't have a black box from the FDA that I could have been prescribed instead. I'm really unhappy that the side effects were not discussed with me beforehand. Giving it *some* points because the pneumonia did resolve (though it was likely viral rather than bacterial)."

For Kidney Infections "I used it for 12 days. I first felt a weird taste in my mouth, like metal. Then I felt extremely sleepy and tired all the time. Then I had sacroiliitis, which hurt like hell. Then my teeth started hurting a lot, the back ones, like if I had severe cavities or so, which radiated to my ears. Also, I woke up a few times every night and had a hard time going back to sleep. My urethra stung when I urinated, which only stopped when I finished the 12 days. After I finally ended the treatment, I developed constipation, and it's been really hard to go to the bathroom - which had never happened before. Anyways, the infection's gone and I'm satisfied."

"I took this for 7 days, 750 mg. Insomnia hit the first 2 nights. I awoke with achy shoulders and neck. The next day, shoulders and hips. The next day, hips and knees. It was not the knee bones but tendons around it, so swollen I could not squat. At 63 and active, I felt like I was 100. Hands were swollen, neck muscles were unbearable, and knees and hips, mostly knees after the 7 days, hurt terribly. I have finished the medicine, but 10 days later, my knees are still not back to norm. I am trying to function normally, but my knees operate only about 65%. I can only hope this will pass. I was taking this med with the thought I might have an infection in my lungs, but this, for me, did not help my lung issue. Lisinopril and penicillin are allergens as well. BEWARE."

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "On my third day with Levaquin. Only problem that I am having is insomnia. Tired during the day, completely awake at night. Cough is pretty much gone. I feel great, just need to go to bed."
