Levofloxacin for Sinusitis "Levaquin is not for me, even though it did help clear up my sinus infection. The tendonitis and joint pain were just too much for me. What they fail to tell you is that with lots of people who take this drug, the side effects do NOT go away with discontinuation of the drug. I now feel like I have arthritis in my hips, knees, elbows, and hands that simply will not go away, and I blame the Levaquin for these lingering symptoms. I would not recommend the drug to anyone unless their sinus infection simply will not respond to other treatments."

Levofloxacin for Sinusitis "I would rate this a 20-star if it was an option. I have taken Levaquin for pneumonia, kidney infections, and sinus infections. It always works twice as fast and twice as well as the other antibiotics that are usually prescribed. One of many non-working antibiotics led my dad to an ICU visit, in 24 hours, he was a different person after being so sick. Levaquin can quickly turn things around."

Levofloxacin for Pneumonia "I was given this horrific medication as my provider thought I had pneumonia, and after taking it for 8 days, I could hardly walk, and my knees were stiff, and I could not get up or put any weight on my legs. My hands were swollen, and I could not make a fist or open my water bottle. This drug should be taken off the market immediately! How can a physician in good conscience prescribe this medication to anyone? I just hope that I am not permanently crippled by this medication. My chest X-ray came back negative, so I did not even need an antibiotic and just needed a cough medicine and Mucinex to clear up my cough. The one time I did not have time to read the drug information because I was moving, and my doctor decides to prescribe me this!"

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "Was given this drug following severe bronchitis due to chronic dental inflammations. By day 3, I realized my left ankle was painful and hobbled. I read the black box warnings and immediately discontinued the drug, however, that ankle and then the other one got progressively worse. I was barely making it to work and back, trying to do eldercare solo and thinking I was going to be crippled for life 6 months later. Was seriously looking into joining a class action lawsuit and probably should have, but no energy left over. Think megadoses of magnesium and supplements plus some homeopathics like Thuja finally tipped the balance, and I gradually was able to walk normally without pain again. Used Oil of Oregano to clear the infections."

Levofloxacin for Urinary Tract Infection "I'm allergic to penicillin. I'm disabled and had multiple UTIs. Levaquin saved my life. I’ve also been an RN for 44 years. If you need a drug like Levaquin, be sure to listen to your doctor and take it as prescribed with plenty of water and the probiotics. If you’re not advised about this, ASK QUESTIONS. Remember, your doctor actually works for YOU! Don’t just ask about this, ask about everything. Perhaps make a list before you see the doctor and even jot down notes while with the doctor and/or bring someone with you. How many times have you walked out of a doctor's office and thought, 'What did they say?' Many things can cause allergic reactions. Ask your doctor and perhaps keep Benadryl in your home. P.S.: The original clear capsules have been known to dissolve quicker and get into your system faster, especially when put under your tongue. This is in no manner meant to be medical advice. Always ask your doctor. Yours, in good health."

Levofloxacin for Pneumonia "Took Cipro for a Pseudomonas infection and then five months later took Levaquin. Joint and tendon pain just kept getting worse, and I'm still suffering from these side effects two months after discontinuing."

Levofloxacin for Urinary Tract Infection "I react to every antibiotic out there. Levaquin is the only one I can take with no side effects. This is an excellent drug and gets rid of my urinary tract infections fast, with no yeast infection after it."

Levofloxacin for Streptococcal Infection "Not allergic to anything. On Day 15 round of antibiotics in February, so needed something stronger to wipe out this diphtheria and strep throat. Could barely swallow yesterday. Took a pill yesterday, went to bed, woke up with a headache that was manageable, along with some dizziness that is getting better. A little bit of pain in joints and some very soft stool this morning, but I was thankful for that. I already can swallow today without much pain and feel about 20% better, so it must be working at a fast rate. I am thankful. Only taking it for 7 days, 500 mg."

For Bacterial Infection "I’m now past month 6 of recovery from levofloxacin. I took 9 pills of that awful antibiotic for a suspicion of a bacterial infection. In the first two months, I got all the side effects on the menu: neuropathy (hands, legs, and face feel like they are burning), tingling in my feet, constant headache and tingling in head, depression (crying and suicidal thoughts for most of the day), joint pain (especially my knees), bladder control issues, penile dysfunction (can’t ejaculate at all). I saw 10s of doctors during that period: neurologists, urologists, infectious disease doctors, rheumatologists, etc. All offer nothing but sympathy and NSAIDs (which I never took). DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG, levofloxacin. IT WILL BE THE WORST DECISION IN YOUR LIFE."

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "I was prescribed 500 mg for 5 days for bronchitis, I also suffer from COPD. I couldn't sleep a bit, breathing got a lot worse, headache, palpitations, tendons hurt so bad I couldn't hardly move. I have been off of them for 6 days now, I'm worse than I was. I will never take these again, they are horrible."

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "I am finishing my last pill. I had seven 500 mg pills, and obviously, this is number 7. I have bronchitis, but since I tend to get that, it easily accelerates into pneumonia. I can't take anything besides Levaquin either. I am so sensitive to meds. Well, my advice is STAY IN BED and drink TONS and tons of water. Don't let the side effects (my tendons started acting up, and DO put your feet up on a pillow for that...) worry you unless you have a particularly extreme reaction. Just 'go with the flow.' It makes me sleep = no insomnia! Get out the old movies, the western novels, and keep the lights LOW in your QUIET room. It's worth it. This drug has saved my life."

Levofloxacin for Bacterial Infection "I have used, even requested it for UTI and upper respiratory infections. It has been my go-to drug from my ENT doctor, prescribed it before there was a generic. I have never suffered any side effects and have always gotten well. I use it once a year, my usual yearly infection."

Levofloxacin for Pneumonia "I was prescribed Levaquin for pneumonia. After two days, I felt so much better. I had some lower back pain, which I expected, as I know medications well. I am a practicing RN for 23 years. My appetite was poor but has improved. I had some mouth pain with probable thrush related to the antibiotic. 750 mg x 5 days was worth it!!"

For Streptococcal Infection "I usually get strep throat about twice in the winter, first time being on this antibiotic, and within hours I noticed the pain dwindling away. Please drink plenty of water as advised. Didn't drink enough water on the second day and had a major headache, dizziness, and nausea. I started pounding water, and it eventually passed. When it kicks in, it did make me nervous, but it subsided after about 10 minutes!"

Levofloxacin for Prostatitis "I have just started Levofloxacin for prostatitis that I've been battling for 4 months. I've tried Doxy and Cipro with no luck. I'm day two into Levofloxacin, and I'm experiencing pretty bad anxiety. Has anybody else experienced anxiety on this medication? Should I stop taking it or try to push through it? Thank you."

Levofloxacin for Urinary Tract Infection "Took Cipro and Bactrim during chemo and radiation. Did not work, may have been because of the chemo and radiation, just not sure. I am now on my 3rd of 5-day Levaquin dose and passed my AZO UTI over-the-counter test this morning, yeah. Two months of a UTI is a bit much, although I now know what works for the future."

Levofloxacin for Bronchitis "I am 54 years old and was put on Levaquin in August. I had side effects from the medication that caused joint and tendon pain and damage. I used to take it when I was younger with a good outcome. It is now January, and I still have very bad knee and tendon pain. Beware of the medication."

For Pneumonia "If not for this antibiotic, my husband would have been dead several times over. Incidentally, I'm a registered nurse. I see where a number of people have attributed wild 'side effects' to this drug. Many are confusing symptoms of their illness with side effects of the antibiotic. Just because you experience something unusual for you when you're sick doesn't mean it's the fault of the antibiotic. Being ill is an abnormal state for one's body, yet some of these people seem to think that any effect of the illness they weren't expecting MUST BE attributable to something else, and often they blame the treatment rather than the illness. If you've been prescribed Levaquin, I urge you to take many of these 'reviews' with more than a grain of salt! An EXCELLENT drug!"

Levofloxacin for Bacterial Infection "I have been suffering with a sinus infection for over 2 months. I was on Bactrim for 14 days, prednisone for 10 days, which is a steroid, used OTC allergy medicine, then finally was given this med. After only one dose, my sinus, ear pain, and sore throat caused by post-nasal drip began to disappear. I did experience some coughing the first time I laid down, but guess what? The mucus was no longer greenish-yellow draining, it was super dark green. That was one serious infection! Tried and true, believe me, it worked for me. I had laryngitis for 2 months, and two days after this medication, my voice is back :) Two thumbs up."

Levofloxacin for Bacterial Infection "Took 500 mgs once a day for a severe sinus infection. By day 3, my nasal passages opened up, sinus pressure and pain eased up. On day 5, I felt 90% better. Infection gone by day 8. Only side effect was I slept a lot, but that could be because I was sick."

Levofloxacin for Sinusitis "Was prescribed Levaquin 750 mg/5-day dose on June 22, 2009. First week, no bad symptoms except for insomnia and nightmares. It did knock out the sinus infection temporarily (10 days), but then sinusitis returned. It wasn't until week 3 after using this drug that I started noticing joint pain in elbows, knees, shoulders, and lower back. It's November now, and things haven't improved. Along with tendinitis symptoms, I've also lost muscle strength in calves, biceps, and will experience burning in hamstrings after doing simple things like cutting my lawn. I hope this goes away or somebody offers a remedy to counter these effects."

For Bacterial Infection "I had been on the levofloxacin 750 mg for 7 days, and on day 3, I noticed my knees swelled up, and I couldn't kneel because it felt like I was on glass. My whole body ended up in a lot of pain. I've been off the meds for 11 days and still have pain in all my joints, especially my hands. I get chills and like hot flashes. Has anyone had blood work done with anything show up? What do the doctors say when you tell them how your body feels?"

Levofloxacin for Urinary Tract Infection "A few hours after the first dose, my arm muscles started burning like I just lifted a bunch of weights, and my neck was hurting on one side, but I think it was because I was so tense and worried about taking it. These symptoms lasted for about two or three more doses, then went away. Took my last pill today, and the only other side effects I had were headache and lightheadedness, and my heart would beat faster every now and then."

Levofloxacin for Kidney Infections "I have taken Levaquin on various occasions for UTI. I never really had side effects after only a week of it. The improvement in the infection was pretty rapid and remarkable. In 2 days, I felt better than I had in 3 months, so I was suffering from this UTI off and on for a while. Doxycycline and Keflex couldn't touch it. I consider Levaquin the gold standard for a UTI. Unfortunately, this time I had a kidney infection as well, so I was really miserable. However, if you take Levaquin for several weeks, you can have tendon and muscle problems. But my gosh, you have to get rid of the infection or you'll die. So I recommend this over Cipro. Cipro sometimes has to be taken again. I always recommend Levaquin to people."

Levofloxacin for Pneumonia "Came down with pneumonia, and this medicine fixed me right up. Was on it for 10 days, and the only side effect I noticed was feeling extra tired, but that could have been the pneumonia as well. Wonderful experience."
